    I got my Jaguar at kay bee toy store on clearance for $20, and $5 per game. It’s insane what they are going for nowadays. I still have mine complete in the box and about 20 or so games.

    It's that mostly unfulfilled potential that draws me to the Jaguar after all these years, I tried it at the store bitd and it was fun, not like I instantly hated it like the internet consensus demands now and forever lol. I might have gone down that path in the 90s if it had been a little cheaper, much like the 3DO Ie. cool but a large investment for a kid.
    Mainly in my research of what happened historically with the Jaguar it's just a lot of "What are you doing, don't do that Atari, this not how to create a market?" "Stop saying it's 64-bit, jeez!".😆

    Can you upload a video of you getting the CD attachment? Because I saw you had that on your N64 launch video and I wanted to know if you have a recording of you using that if your dad filmed it. Also, how come you never had a 3DO? Perhaps it was the only console your dad couldn’t afford? He literally bought everything else but that lol. Regardless, it goes without saying that you not only had the best dad in the world, but the best childhood in the world.

    Turns out that the Atari Jaguar, was and is still, a well-built video entertainment machine.
    Only, that: at that same time, Atari "kicked the bucked," regarding the tough task of developing and upstreaming a comprehensive and decent games library, for that same "newer" gaming console.
    Still the Atari Jaguar, got made, a few good video games, such as: Super Burnout, that achieved the first proper road elevation tilt sensation, to the player. Or Rayman, where the player would feel like playing through another afternoon cartoons episode.
    When something over-steps its path... It should work on to getting to somewhere, where the ground is at least mildly steady.

    It was a 64bit system, but I honestly think they shouldn't had use that for the marketing.
    I would had said it was 16 bit Pro or something like that and let the games speak .
    Sadly, Atari simply had bad luck plus poor timing in many things.
    Plus the Japanese would had never provided support for it and since they controlled the video game industry, the Jaguar simply didn't had a chance

  • @user-hy9it2lm9k
    @user-hy9it2lm9k 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    It was never 64 bit and even was weaker than 3DO and 32X, to say nothing of PS1 or Saturn. The only edge it had over 32X was color depth. Doom 32X Resurrected proves it could run Doom significantly better, when competently programmed and without brutal development deadlines. A fair appraisal of Jaguar's max potential is the GBA, it was roughly equivalent in power and GBA Doom is based on JagDoom. If Jaguar had extensive third party support somehow we'd eventually have seen 3D games on it of about the same quality as later lifespan GBA titles, like Asterix & Obelix XXL or V-Rally 3.
    The bigger problem was lack of vision for first party game dev. We just got remasters of arcade or 2600 IPs like Defender and Breakout. Namco's Pac Man World series did a much better job of modernizing a classic IP rather than just remastering it. It's a fun thought experiment to imagine how to "save" Atari, like many do with Sega. But Atari was even more doomed than Sega. To save Jaguar you'd first need to save the 7800, by never launching the 5200, and preventing the lawsuit which delayed the 7800 launch by 2 years.
