I came here looking for a different kind of CBT, but both work well for depression.

I really do have a problem concerning eating habits. I can't bear the sounds when someone is eating with me, i made some research about it and unfortunately there is no current medicine that may cure it or at least reduce the response to such sounds. Is CBT helps to overcome this disorder. Please ! It really hurts when i am with people i love, instead of enjoying the food with them , i just wait patiently to finish.

Hi I think that is misophonia which is a kind of phobia I'm no expert in any shape or form but I do feel like you can manage it with CBT of not treat it completely .
I hope you can overcome this obstacle in a life that will be full of great achievements and happiness
      Have a good day :)

This is just general thoughts about this kind of difficulties (you would need to be assessed clinically before you got any actual advice). The treatment for noise aversion tends to be psycho-education and graded exposure (the more you avoid the sounds the less you are able to tolerate them so gradually increasing your exposure may increase your tolerance). This works well for hyperacusis (oversensitivity to sounds) but doesn't work well for Mysophonia (which is a feeling of feeling of disgust rather than a fear). A pragmatic approach is good (try different things and find what works for you). Many people find learning to live with it more effective then graded exposure. Explaining it to your family so that they know why you are avoiding meals with them. Putting on background music to mask the sound (which is better than trying to block the sound out). Perhaps being aware of what you are focusing your attention on during the meal and try to focus it on something else (perhaps mindful eating).
