Just in case people don't know, the paramedic guy who was involved in the Texas pile up was driving an FJ cruiser. The FJ was crushed by an 18 wheeler at full speed. He survived. Even walked out of the wreck and started saving others. The 4Runner shares the same structure as the FJ. Guess which vehicle he opted for when Toyota honored his bravery. Yep. The 4Runner.
Bigger rims and tires, new intake, leather seats. Marked up $15,000 because of COVID and $10,000 for the extras. Thanks Toyota for offering a car for the people.
I think Toyota either mistakenly uploaded a video from 2020 or they are distracting the US market from a worldwide (except US) premiere of the new Land Cruiser 300.
The current mpg of the 4Runner is unacceptable in 2021. 16 city, 19 highway, 17 combined. But real world will probably be like 13-15 mpg. It’s a catch 22 though. Bad fuel efficiency but bulletproof reliability with the current drivetrain.
just redesign this beast already!! been way too long and we're just waiting to get one that doesn't feel so dated on the inside. guess we're waiting another 2 years at least.
@@Nostromo_1 Because the infotainment and entire center console feel so dated. Not to mention the body design. Maybe spending 45k on an old car with already old electronics is fine, but I'd rather not. The infotainment alone looks like it came straight from 2012

why are you guys introducing the 2021 4runner when you cant even order them anymore? Plus with the 2022 already announced for arriving into dealers in fall.
I believe the 2022 is a carryover with special colors and packages for the last year of the 5th generation 4Runner. Some time in 3rd quarter of 2022 the 2023 will be introduced. Rumors of a twin turbo v6 and later a hybrid. Expect at least an 8sp transmission, 10 would be perfect. If only a 6 or 7sp, Toyota will loose sales. I have a lexus RX450h hybrid, if enhanced with larger battery, electric motors and heavy duty transmission would be a perfect fit for a 4Runner hybrid. An all electric 4Runner is a given. It will likely have solid state batteries and long range. When is the unknown.
Electric and water dont mix for overlanding. Dont care how much an EV can seal water, im not getting my nuts fried but you can. Keep the pavement princess and stay on the grid where you belong.😉

I just bought a 21 limited. I love it just the way it is I wouldn’t change a thing. Why does it need to be updated.
