Artie tried doing that and Howard never used any of jokes so he just told Artie that he’d leave his mic open and he can comment whenever he wanted, like robin. So Artie may have been funny but Howard wasn’t
The 90s was the gold standard of the show. The Artie years showed how unfunny Wiggy was without Jackie force feeding lines to Wig. Artie was hired to fill Jackie’s shoes but wasn’t capable of fulfilling the role. So Wig hired a shitload of people to fill the vacuum. What we got? Phony phone calls that went out in the 90s. Incessant nauseating gay bits. Only entertaining moments was the Roasts. Unfortunately, Artie became entertaining when his addiction problems surfaced. Zzzzz, physical altercations, throwing things. He did coin Pelican 💯
Holy smoke Jackie really is the funniest guy in the room at all times. Setting up Howie for the big embarrassment and fake drink is brilliant
Howard's show was really entertaining but the whole thing is from his perspective. At times he gave a really warped sense of who people are.
