I had a 1983 eluder i/o 350 260 hp it was supposedly built as a 1 of .. for the chicago boat show blue base silver metal flake. highrise hatch. red accent stripe super sharp...it would "walk high " and you would feel the water breaking at the back seat in calm water.. stock oem with 23 pitch clever prop 74 mph .... tried to find it back for years... my all time fave
I have this same kind of boat in mint condition. 10 hours on it. I just took it out ran really good Pretty fast. I have a turbo prop . I may wanna sell it. 1981. Bounce hard and jumps every wave... I jumped a cruisers wak & got some air👍. Lake of the ozarks.
I just picked up an 18' diplomat. Very similar. I have a 330hp 454 on the stand but with the numbers you are running I have to ask, do you think the BBC would be too much? I only consider it because I already have it and I'm already replacing/upgrading the stringers. Any thoughts?
A 454 wouldn't be too much, especially if you have some aluminum heads/intake and headers to reduce weight. That's my only gripe with a BBC and why my ElCamino is a SBC but its bored/stroked to 427ci.
@@Parr4theCourse it's just a stock 330hp 454. I bought it to put in my 24 outlaw but I want to clean the hull up and go in-depth on that one so now I have an extra engine just sitting. It is pretty heavy for the HP but I thought maybe it would help keep the stern planted at high speed. If I had to guess it would get me 75 to 85mph with one hell of a whole shot but I could be wrong
@@Parr4theCourse I could however get the same hp from a stock 5.3 LS with alot less weight. I doubt the torque difference would really matter with a boat this light. The only reason for the big block is that I already have it lol.
The weight will help keep the stern down some but trim is your friend, I trimmed mine out just to see how far it would go and it got pretty squirrely on the big end, you just have to make sure you don't to any drastic moves until you trim it back down.
Kevin Burdick the fastest I ever got out of her was 85-90mph, but wouldn’t pull up a skier, so I swapped props and will pull up one skier, although not snap you out of the water but would run 80-85mph... You bought my old boat? When I sold it it was BETTER than new,!
Sorry, I bought a boat just like this one. I have the speed prop that goes with it. Right now it has a prop for tubing and skiing. The old owner said that it would do about 50 or so. He said with the other prop it would do about 75 plus.
Kevin Burdick when I bought it “new” it ran about 65mph, I added transom exhaust, intake, carb, ignition and better cam, plus multiple props to gain the speed increases.

Yea, it was a great boat, 1st six months I had it I pulled the motor and did a little modifying - HA!
