I’m 35 and this will be my 3rd season snowboarding and I still watch all these videos trying to get better and faster! Thanks for the tips!
That’s awesome, glad you’re still pushing and stoked to help.
Had no idea Bennett was TH-cam famous! 😂. Amazing teacher! We spent the day with him learning and it was an amazing time!
same here, cheers.
me too, the only difference is that I am 37 years old
Im 68 on my 10th season. Always looking to refresh .y technique. It's easy to slip into bad habits
Dude, you changed everything. Just did your techniques and after 8 years of chattering and exhausting boarding, i was slicing through the mountain. No fatigue and not beat up. You're the man!!
@@theamericanbrotha no wayyyy! Soooo stoked to hear this.
Nobody's really commenting on it but this is top notch content. Your mic situation is surprisingly clear for someone going downhill at 10-20 mph, and your cameraman does a great job keeping up with you and keeping the camera steady
I started snowboarding with my brothers. Our dad took us one year back in the mid-to-late 90s. I think I was 10-12 years old then. He was a skier, so he pretty much said the same thing to us, "Here is your snowboard; figure it out," and we did, lol. We watched other snowboarders and asked them questions, "Hey, how did you do that?" We didn't have snowboard instructors, so you relied on the snowboard community back then. I'm 40 now and have been snowboarding ever since. My wife is on her second season this year. We plan to go this Christmas.
Took these tips onto the hill today and my wife (her 7th day riding) made huge progress. Thanks for this!
I've been riding for 40 years and still learning some sick techniques from your videos
That last comment about being aware of which direction your shoulders are pointing is so helpful! Wish I had seen this before I tried snowboarding for the second time ever this weekend, maybe I wouldn’t have caught so many edges 😂
Woo… not only you snowboard well but you could snowboard and explain and explain well at the same time ! Amazing video. And kudos to the camera man too
Eyes Up!!! If you are looking at the ground, then that's where you're going.
36 Years old this year and about to return to the slopes after a nearly 6 year break. Skier most of my life, Briefly switched to snowboarding for 2 seasons right before I hung it up for my hiatus. Following you for tips to refresh my brain, before I go abuse my old body at Baker. Wish me luck!
Love his content! I'm 55 and just went through my 2nd season of 3 days in Mammoth! Love it!!
I am only just learning to snowboard, but my husband has been boarding for years so paid for me to have proper lessons so that he would not teach me bad habits. Your extra advice on how to do turns is very simple to understand and will help me when we get on the slopes again. Thank you.
Appreciate the content! You and Buckhouse got me snowboarding. On my second season this year and loving it. Great tips and content appreciate you!
Love to hear it! So stoked you're enjoying the season.
@@tommiebennett do you ever come out to Hood?
Amazing video and tips! Thank you!! 😊👏
I’m here to support Tommie.
I really appreciate it my dood!
Underrated Channel 👊🏾
Can’t wait to start my first real season man! Last year I went twice just before the resorts shut down but it was insane just from my first day to my second how much I improved. Pumped to give it a go and take everything that you say in your videos to the slopes.
Always great advice and lookin like a pro while doing it. Sick hoodie! Happy to see you making content, get that hip right :)
Welcome to the new season, I’m going for X4 soon 🎉
Love the channel!!
Hey that was me and my friend sitting on that cat walk lmao i was trying to teach him some of the things ive learned but this is gunna help me out a lot cuz its one of the things i need to improve on ill be sending this to him so he can get better too.

No way! thank you so much and stoked you like the content
"Guess what, it makes like more complicated" instant like 😂
GREAT STUFF Nephew..!! Go Big Or Stay Home..!!
The new hoodie is banger my dude!
It's lovely. Anyone know what is is and where to get it?
ahhh I bet that shoulder thing is gonna be a game changer for me on the toe side. I can surf, wakeboard and long board but snowboarding is just differenttt
Love the content 🤟👍
Thanks boss!
This actually help me out a bit because I’ve been putting most of my weight on my back leg and my back leg is left burning after a run
First of the season
@@seanbaker1627 we officially a TH-camr again
@@tommiebennett love your channel dude 😁👍
I can do exactly this on a blue run. But how do I do this one a black run? Do I just have to trust putting 60% weight on the front foot because when that happens, it feels like I'm charging down the run. Thanks!
yes, and make more/wider turns. traverse sideways on your edges before initiating the next turn instead of side slipping or pointing the nose straight down the entire time
He tommy great work. Get well with your surgery!! What are the similarities and differences of Knee steering vs ankle steering. Or is it the same?
I’m missing my boots and the bearings and I can’t wait to start soon. I might get some practices runs at some I know in Jersey.
I’m so mad I started at 30 years old and not sooner but fuck it !! I’m here now
Will foresure show this to my Wifey cause she doesn’t listen to me , she is doing everything correct 😅
that cloud formation at 2:18 though
Hi! Can you make a video or article on how you became such a skilled snowboarder? There are a lot of beginners every season now, and many can ride primitively after a season, but I'm curious how often you did it, with whom and how? Did you have instructors, maybe friends, some kind of consistent plan, and also the hardest falls you had!
Swapping the R And N would be a great improvement.
That cloud tho
I used to ride intermediate level before duck stance bece popular. It is a lot easier to put the weight on the front foot if both feet are pointing forward.
Good luck riding switch.
Id personally spend the camera money on lessons. When I was learning and had my hero2 on a stick, I realised that my desire for footage was hindering my riding. Get lessons and have a professional advise you on what your doing wrong. Footage of bad riding is only visually bad by someone who knows what good riding looks like 😂
Hi thanks for great tips. What program do you use for the video edit . Got the same camera, but your videos are way sharper.
@@Szynszyla544 I use insta360 studio in ingest the footage (I export in ProRes 422) and edit with Final Cut Pro.
@tommiebennett Thank you. Legend 💪🏻
Love the videos, question for you, I’ve been basically doing what you’re saying, however I’ve noticed my turns are always skidded, am I maybe turning the shoulders too much?
You might want to try some of Malcolm Moore's carving videos. Not as energetic as Tommy but spot on in terms of content.
You’re probably leaning on the edge too much. It takes some practice to be able to match your lean angle, speed and turn angle so you turn without skidding. Quite literally a “fine line”. Also be conscious that you’re putting the right amount of pressure on front and back foot
I am a little bit struggled with the knee steering in the change from heels to toes, I feel it like I'm going to eat snow if I don't make a little/small stop before the edge change. Any advice?
Just impulse bought the X4. But I was already in the market, it’s Black Friday sales, and my GoPro keeps quitting on me. Also how are you muting everything except your voice? Love the vids ❤
I get nervous when it starts to speed up going down, what can you recommend?
As soon as you start to feel scared, turn.
You're supposed to be scared. Especially when you're learning. If not scared you're not moving lol. But in all honesty you have to gain more confidence in your ability. So do the falling leaf technique until you master going left, right, and stopping. Once you have that down, start pointing your nose down then stopping. And repeat that over and over and over again nose down, then stop. Feel your board. Feel how it responds when you use your ankles, hips, and shoulders. Finally, try to go as fast as possible and get scared. That's the fun part.
i’ll try it tomorrow. thanks!

Hi Tommie, I have a bad habit of shaking my right hand(I'm regular).
I'm wondering how can I improve this bad habit.
Can you make a video on jumping. I have a good news writer's choice board and it feels like no matter what I do I'm either skitching out on my toes or my heels as I'm popping
When learning to jump you want to have your board flat on the ground with your weight and balance on the balls of your feet. Kind of like you are getting ready to shoot a basketball. You don't pop off the lip by ollying like you do a skateboard. You will feel gravity and the lip pushing against your legs as you come in and you create pop by applying equal force through your legs, Counter to the force you feel against your legs. Once off the lip you then bring your knees up so it is easier to grab your board. Hope this helps and isn't too confusing.
Wanted to order the insta 360 but there is no snowbundle included, only a selfie stick
How do you record your voice?
Be really careful with those cameras, especially ones on selfie sticks. It really does make riding a lot more dangerous for the people around you, especially around blind spots on turns, hills, and trail merges. It’s usually better to point it upwards because it’s much easier for people to see it and you’ll take up less space with it. Also make sure you look behind you before swinging your arm with a 4 foot pole and clotheslining anyone behind you.
Do you use lens guard on your x4? Mine fogs up
He doesn’t appear to in the videos. I have experienced fogging with the standard lens covers.
Is it weird to be ok to skate regular but be more comfortable coming down the mountain goofy?
I've def heard a lot of snowboarders say that and its honestly such an advantage
If you're a beginner, definitely do not film yourself with a selfie stick lol
Kids, dont skid your turns. That's not snowboarding.
Everyone I know, including me, who bought the insta360 regretted, we all regretted not buying it any time sooner
Agreed 😂
