I wanted to share my perspective on the current discussions regarding the potential ban on Chinese drones in the U.S. It seems to me that this ban does not truly reflect a genuine concern from the U.S. government about Chinese drones. Rather, implementing such a ban would eliminate approximately 90% of recreational drones sold in the U.S., significantly reducing the number of drones flown in this country. Additionally, it's worth noting that the momentum for this ban only started to build after SkyDio's exit from the consumer drone market. This timing seems more than coincidental and suggests that other factors may be influencing the narrative. I believe it is crucial for us to address this issue from this perspective in our messaging. Soooo? Did the actual question get answered here? Forgive me if I missed it, but should I not buy dji goggles or Au being in fear they won't work at all soon?
If this was all about security, all DJI has to do is update the firmware so data is only stored internally (internal HD or card). There’s more to it than that. Like everything, follow the money (ie bribes).

In its current state, the bill would not prohibit the use of already existing DJI drones in the Unite States, just the sale of future products, accessories, and software.
It's a national security issue, we see how drones are used on the battle field now. In the event of a war with china, we would not have the manufacturers to provide the drones we would need. So the government is encouraging the manufacturer of all drone parts to be built in the usa. Similar to how the government used to protect the steel industries that would be needed in the event we have a protracted war. Gotta have the stuff we need when we need it.
@user-zc1hp2qn4f customs agents are gonna ask that very question of the manufacturer. They plan on banning all components, motors, esc's, transmitters and receivers. Not just from dji, anything made in china will be taxed out of existence in the usa.
It’s got nothing to do with dji gathering data or a concern based on it, it’s got everything to do with what they’ve seen with the effectiveness of the war in Ukraine in using drones in combat scenarios especially given the relative low cost and area coverage for each one. You can basically police and deny access to a significantly sized area with a dozen drones or even less.
What is the alternative to DJI OcuSync 4.0 Ecosystem Drones? I own..Both O4 Drones DJI Mini 4 Pro DJI Avata 2 Fantastic devices with no competition from America. How can you get rid of something without replacing it with something equal performance?
"How can you get rid of something without replacing it with something equal performance?" Imagine the Gov actually caring about that. DJI was used by everyone because it did things no other company could. I worked for an industrial Robotocs company from 2014 - 2023 and even we used DJI after spending endless amounts trying to develop our own systems.
With car import bans it was more that car companies wanted to protect their market, not emissions. That's why USA missed cars like the Nissan Skyline. I liken the DJI ban to this, pure market protection.
Yeah, it has definitely nothing to do with Chinese making crap products, or the fact they steal intellectual property and use slave labor to build it. Nooooo, couldn't be that. The only thing they seem to get right is electronics. So drones, 3-D printers, phones. by the way, the other phone companies couldn't compete because they were undercut by slave labor. That's about it. I'm an engineer and tradesmen. I have every type of tool that you can think of, and machinery. I also collect firearms and air rifles and none of those are Chinese either. in fact, I do a lot and can't think of another Chinese company with connections to the Chinese government that I purchase anything from. I don't know why you guys seem to think just because they make decent electronics that they can make anything good. in some cases, even their electronics are inferior, they're just cheaper, and people love cheap. Heard of Daewoo cars? Garbage, and no longer sold in the United States for good reason.
I think we should be more frustrated with American drone companies. They had no drive, to compete. We should have one of the best products out there. DJI as a Chinese business. Should have never dominated this area of business. Americans failed to capitalize in the market. Failed revolution failed through the lack of desire of competing. A drone ability is to great of threat. The detail and angles of what they record. Even compared to a satellite. The tech. fight in the military is real thing. It’s no longer gapped by us. So we can’t afford to hand anything over. I know a video a photo no big deal. But it definitely is especially how much a video can give away.
Disagree. GoPro tried. Hard. DJI used immoral business practices to run them out of the market. 3D Robotics made the Solo - an incredible drone that DJI went and copied all of its features and undercut the price until they ran them out of the market also. It’s almost impossible to compete with a Chinese private company who is supported by the CCP who manufacture everything in China.
One thing I think people are maybe not understanding is that drones = rcplanes as well. This is gonna hurt not just the fpv community, it also branches out.
What Chinese company with connections to the communist Chinese government make the most used RC plane in the world that millions of people own, with no other competition? Exactly, none. Also, stop thinking this is only about data collection.

Some politicians are just jumping on the bandwagon, but a lot of them just want to make sure drones (DJI being #1 in the world) do not have the ability to spy on them. If they ban Chinese drones the hobby is dead. Federal regulations are too restrictive to manufacture boards. I work for Panasonic. The few board manufacturers in the US have to treat their manufacturing facilities like asbestos. It’s just way too expensive to be in compliance and making flight controllers for FPV drones would not be a priority anyway. Too many other industries take priority. And once the government realized a US company was making boards for drones they would tighten up with more regulations and heavy taxes.
@@WR3ND it might. I don’t know that is is as bad as asbestos, but apparently it requires some expensive PPE and insurance/workman’s comp is off the charts. Hey Joshua, Thank you for making the content you make. The speculation from our government about DJI drones is far more scary and definitely warrants the ban. We had private contractors across our country buy and utilize DJI drones to conduct field inspections and observe many sub stations and power grid equipment. The belief is that DJI has been collecting all of this information pertaining to our infrastructure which can used against us. Think about it, what we be one of the most devastating impacts to the US if we were to be invaded. The loss of power.

All I know is that this sounds like a full interplanetary invasion to me and China was just first in line. Get those DJI products out of here man!

USA needs to step up its drone production game.
I thì k It's also referred as Market Competition...... DJI drones are less expensive versus US drone's made.
The Federal Government has gone above and beyond their Constitutional enumerated powers. This isn't just limited to drones and DJI.
Soooo? Did the actual question get answered here? Forgive me if I missed it, but should I not buy dji goggles or Au being in fear they won't work at all soon?
They already did with huawei
rightfully so.
If this was all about security, all DJI has to do is update the firmware so data is only stored internally (internal HD or card). There’s more to it than that. Like everything, follow the money (ie bribes).
Newsflash, it's not about data collect!
That's just what they're telling the general public to get support for it.
If you need a clue of what it might be, outside of data collection, watch a freaking Ukraine video.
@@dangerous8333news flash, Ukraine is already using DJI drones on the battlefield and China is also an ally of Russia. Has China taken control of all the drones in Ukraine and used it against Ukraine? Why no national security concerns for the Ukrainians?
@@sarahjenkins7064 DJI has made workarounds regarding AeroScope much harder or even not possible depending on drone model and firmware version. Ukraine is using much less DJI's now. Does this have anything to do with China being friends with Russia? Not necessarily. It can be genuine concern of harmful use of drones. Even stupid people can buy them, while stupid people may not be able to build one by themselves.
This law is really strange and can cause drone restrictions all over the world. Cause drone laws in many countries based on USA laws and FAA regulations 😢
Electing idiots and criminals has consequences. That's a buzz-phrase that applies here and something we have to keep in mind in Nov.....
Please tell me the politicians that are neither idiots nor criminals, the list is getting pretty short lately. If you include not yet convicted criminals I bet it's pretty much 100 percent.
@@r9999t Yep, like I said elections have consequences. We get what we pay for.
In its current state, the bill would not prohibit the use of already existing DJI drones in the Unite States, just the sale of future products, accessories, and software.
I wonder how they will define Drones in the tariff related bill.
Is a flight controller legally a drone? Does it need to be a completed, flyable unit?
100 % with you from 20:20 - crazy.
I am qualified to comment; using phones to gather intel on suspects/targets/consumers is actively in use.
Agreed and well said
If there is ever a war with another knew clear power, drones and cell phones made in China will be the least of your worries.
One question I'm pretty sure they never asked "where do you get your components"?
@user-zc1hp2qn4f customs agents are gonna ask that very question of the manufacturer. They plan on banning all components, motors, esc's, transmitters and receivers. Not just from dji, anything made in china will be taxed out of existence in the usa.
Yes
It’s got nothing to do with dji gathering data or a concern based on it, it’s got everything to do with what they’ve seen with the effectiveness of the war in Ukraine in using drones in combat scenarios especially given the relative low cost and area coverage for each one. You can basically police and deny access to a significantly sized area with a dozen drones or even less.
Now American drone makers will be able to charge the government $100k for $1k drones.
It's only tax payer money, why would they care how much it costs?
What is the alternative to DJI OcuSync 4.0 Ecosystem Drones?
I own..Both O4 Drones
DJI Mini 4 Pro
DJI Avata 2
Fantastic devices with no competition from America.
@@dangerous8333 The device you posted this on was made in China. And Daewoo is Korean.
It's now why Teslas are banned in many parts of China.
20:20 It looks like drones should be protected by the 2nd amendment
🤦
hear hear
LOL - ok
What I am concerned about is the availability of the O3 unit.
Same here , I have caddx but want the 03 as well
One thing I think people are maybe not understanding is that drones = rcplanes as well. This is gonna hurt not just the fpv community, it also branches out.
What Chinese company with connections to the communist Chinese government make the most used RC plane in the world that millions of people own, with no other competition?
Exactly, none.
Also, stop thinking this is only about data collection.
Not defending it but is it really that surprising when they've already done things like this before? For example they've banned Huawei and ZTE from selling any electronics in the US. I'm pretty sure that this will pass pretty easily
It's different as in many of those companies "building centers" themselves were actually very very close to military installations along with their antennas were very oddly close to a lot of major military installations. If you're flying dji over a military base thats jail time... which is perfectly fine but restricting dji over a "few" bad apples is as close as to going against even the 2nd Amendment lol
@@jocsanayala3268 I mean dji has been blacklisted from Americans investing in them since 2021 because of their roll in human rights abuses. It's not like this is some random company either

Perhaps the government should do a dji buy back and offer decent money because I doubt this silly law ain't gonna stop people using their drones after spending hundreds or even thousands on equipment for it to be never used again and collect dust.. silly law makers are dreaming
I mean the apps are already banned, you have to sideload them. Its annoying.
Who sponsored this bill?
I hope the FCC does get forced to pull DJI tx license, and we see the impact to the biggest RID provider going away.
It's simply cutting down relying on foreign, especially Chinese, products. Pushing your own manufacturers so the US can gain footing in that market since I don't know any other drone manufacturer for the average consumer. Maybe there are some security concerns but I think those might be minor and don't really matter?
It's money and in the Ukraine War they saw in action how the drones play a major role and how many DJI can sell there. Both sides buying drones from different countries but I mostly hear about DJI for Ukraine.
Maybe I'm wrong, smells like they are pushing US companies and market manipulation.
Isn't it a proposed ban or is this click bait?

Two door/single cab/ only Trucks have a 25% tariff on them. Toyota Hilux can't be bought here, have to get it from some other country, pay an Extra 25% "tax" and the large shipping fee, then hope for the best. Why? Chicken Tariff from WWII was added to. Even after chicken was removed from it, the trucks remain tariffed.
It's the same mentality by the same people. Some "special interest" paid for them to do it, so they wrap themselves in a flag and proclaim righteousness.
That explains why my lungs hurt cutting and sanding a PCB with a grinder... 😮💨
@@WR3ND it might. I don’t know that is is as bad as asbestos, but apparently it requires some expensive PPE and insurance/workman’s comp is off the charts. So now we have the FAA, FCC, EPA, and OSHA all working to stamp out the drone hobby because they are scared. It’s not about air traffic safety. That’s obvious now.
They don’t call him blunty for nothing.
Tesla cars are prohibited in many areas of China...Why...Security Threat xD
Yeah that's a very good comparison you made. China has banned Tesla cars because they can create a street view map for the Tesla corporation wherever they drive. China is concerned enough about the US mapping some of their infrastructure, so... Isn't it the better part of caution that our lawmakers take similar steps about the Chinese equivalent with a much better view?
This whole thing sucks i wish they would just have fun and fly and enjoy the hobby not strap stuff to the drones the hobby i love so much is getting stripped away SMH 😢😢

I can't get my DJI Fly app to work now, anyone else?
Same thing with TikTok. There is no such thing as a commercial entity under communism. They are all state actors. Therefore any security risk consideration is going to grab attention. I agree it makes sense for government agencies to avoid using DJI. But for my camping footage it’s crazy to think it’s a risk.

Sour Grapes
Hey Joshua, Thank you for making the content you make. The speculation from our government about DJI drones is far more scary and definitely warrants the ban. We had private contractors across our country buy and utilize DJI drones to conduct field inspections and observe many sub stations and power grid equipment. The belief is that DJI has been collecting all of this information pertaining to our infrastructure which can used against us. Think about it, what we be one of the most devastating impacts to the US if we were to be invaded. The loss of power.
I’ve even been hearing talk about how the CCP is being run or at least partially by aliens. Think about it, why would they spy on their OWN CITIZENS? And now us? Fishy stuff going on here! All I know is that this sounds like a full interplanetary invasion to me and China was just first in line. Get those DJI products out of here man!
Google, Meta (Facebook) , Apple and tesla have been collecting all our data and doing surveillance. Google maps , street view or tesla car cams. Don't tell people DJI is bad. Pick on US tec companies too, if you to come with these arguments. Hope you're not using any of the above services, if you're sacred. Oh you're on YT already. Haha
There is a belief, but there is no evidence. So we're just responding to the possibility of what might happen. And that's different than responding to something that is happening.
