    This took ages for me. You must use acetone because it really does get the oil and grease out even if you spend ages using other products before hand. I ordered Michelin letters and the size was correct but unfortunately the spacing between the letters was millimetres out. So I had to cut them individually and stick them on!

      @Tirestickers  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Semp 420 Semp, sounds like you were looking to do a perfect letter match of the existing lettering that is on the tire. We do this all the time! Unless we know that before hand, we will only send the dimensions that is in the order. Glad you got creative to make it work thoguh :) Thank you

    I had some letters on my old tires which I managed to peel them off without damage. Can I reapply the used rubber letters on a new set of tires using your adhesive?

    • @Tirestickers
      @Tirestickers  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +myfastgti07 We recommend a new set, once the product vulcanizes it degrades the rubber and very likely will not bond well again. Welcome to try and purchase more adhesive, but no guarantee!

    Pretty easy to show on a flat tire wall, doesn't like to stick if you have a curved tire wall.

    • @Tirestickers
      @Tirestickers  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you notice the decal is applied over a ribbed surface on the pirelli tire and bonds completely. We recommend smooth surfaces but any surface can be adhered to. If the decal does not bond it is a result of dirt or oil residue on the tire.

    can the acetone damage the paint of the rims?

    • @rashidbelk2595
      @rashidbelk2595 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      that's the same question I was going to ask. The acetone from what I've read can damage the paint of your wheels so I'd be careful not to overspray or let too much of it drip down to your wheel. It could eat the paint.

  • @iamjjm1
    @iamjjm1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Not as easy as it looks ! It might just be common sense, but DO NOT try to apply over any factory tire lettering. The surface that the stickers are being applied to needs to be completely smooth and as flat as possible. If not, it will be very difficult for the stickers to completely adhere to the rubber. The stickers are not flexible enough to conform over any protrusions. So, I suggest before purchasing, make sure you have an area long/high enough for your stickers that is flat, and smooth. You most likely will have to notify the seller for what the length/height will be for your specific sticker lettering.

    • @Tirestickers
      @Tirestickers  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      We also sell letters that custom fit over the existing factory letters or you can sand down the existing letters before applying

  • @1000hpHONDA
    @1000hpHONDA 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Tire lettering... how and why did that become a thing? Did it just take off due to suppliers paying people $$ to add bright lettering of their product to the tires? I'm all for customization but that may be the first (besides those lol bike racks that are never used) for me that, in my opinion, makes the car look stupid. I guess my reason why I think it looks stupid is, I don't want attention to be drawn to letters of the brand of my tire, I want people to notice the lines of the car, the custom wheels, the paintwork, the engine/exhaust note, not tire letters :P . So serious question, why do you guys have them? Do you get comments like oh those are dope af, dank af, hella fly af, etc?

    • @Tirestickers
      @Tirestickers  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      We appreciate your question and can help fill you in on a bit of history. Tire lettering has been available since the very first tires prior to 1900! This lettering was available on aircrafts as well as automobiles through the next several decades as an indicator of specifications and branding information. Popularity expanded with the introduction of whitewalls and other colored lines as well as the muscle car era. We've expanded on the use of this technology by offering the ability to customize completely. Just like a vinyl decal, paintwork, etc. you can put anything on the tire not just the tire brand. In reality, tire lettering was one of the first 'packages' available for automobiles, right along with A/C and power windows. Hope this helps put it in perspective for you!

    • @1000hpHONDA
      @1000hpHONDA 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It does help, thank you! My father was in love with the whitewall tires that was on his 58' Impala when he was a teen. I will have to ask him what he thinks about today's tire lettering :) Thanks again you guys, all the best in the success of your product and service.

    • @possiblycrazy442
      @possiblycrazy442 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Personally, I enjoy lettering on tires. Mainly because I enjoy the look of them in motion (since it really emphasizes the spinning motion to your eyes), and also because it reminds me of racing tires. Unfortuntely, there are no good summer tires being offered with built-in lettering. All that's being offered really are BFG Radial T/As and Cooper Cobras (both all-season tires), and only for 15 inch wheels. So I'm glad that these decals exist. That way I can switch to _far_ superior tires (for my application) without losing the fun/racey look of my raised-white-letter tires.
      *Now my dad on the other hand has always disliked them and has gone as far as to call them circus tires (lol), but he can usually appreciate at least a bit of color to indicate (to a friend standing by) whether or not you're getting unnoticed wheel spin. He once went as far as to color in the "M&H" on his drag radials with a grease marker just for kicks (it's only on one end of the sidewall), and some drag racers might color a big vertical rectangle on their tires for the same purpose. Highlighting wheelspin to an observer.
      So, the colored letters can serve for both form and function. Not anything huge, but it _can_ be something other than advertisement.
