I was a bit concerned when Nike sent the marketing goodies on their Pegasus 41 launch to a good number of shoe reviewers, I was wondering if that would help them keep the reviews unbiased? 😅The fact that you always get the shoes 100% out of your pocket is something to be admired given the gravity of your influence, Ben. You are definitely my go to channel when it comes to shoe selection!

Well it didn’t work if they hoped to bias people, Ben’s was the most positive review, and it wasn’t even positive! Everybody else I saw trashed it.

Many, many years ago, Nike used to be my go-to brand for running shoes. Perfect fit, great performing shoes. That's all gone at this point more or less, they're a bit if a mess. I'm now on Asics primarily.

    • @JustBrowsing777
      @JustBrowsing777 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@io-rj6sk currently on the Cumulus 26 and the Superblast 2. Cumulus is supercomfy, the upper is amazing, but it's not particularly light nor for fast running. Great for daily mileage and to spare my legs. The Superblast 2 is more responsive and fun and caters more towards faster paces as well, a more all-round shoe, but not quite as comfortable on my feet (upper in particular). I have also tested the Metaspeed Sky Paris, which I would love as a race/session shoe, but can't really motivate the investment right now. Just my take of course 🙂

@io-rj6sk both shoes have good cushioning, but I think Novablast is more geared towards tempo runs and slightly shorter distances. I remember the fit was not great on my feet with a bit of heel slipping when I tried it on in a store. But people love the Novablast.

This Pegaus Plus is definitely better than the Pegaus 41. It's lighter and more responsive. I would have prefer the cushioning to be more plush. It feels a little firm considering it's a full ZoomX midsole. The grey/pink is the nicest. It's a tad too expensive. I would have rather go for the Invincible 3 which is more responsive and plush.

Yep great shoe, not perfect but non are. breath of fresh air from all the super stacked midsoles, better foam than the Mach 6 and rebel v4 slightly less feel though but kind of a stealth speed. Great smooth I found it feels like 6-7mm drop not 10.

Regarding sizing down: I bought a pair in size 10 and size 9.5. I ran in 10 on my left foot and 9.5 on my right foot. I have a tight thumb's width in the toebox from my big toe in regular Pegasus 39s. Sizing down to 9.5 had my right side's toes feeling sore at the end after 15K and with all paces tested in them. My sizing advice is to only size down if you already have more than a thumb's width in a pair of regular Pegasus, or use 10 in Asics or Adidas. For Nike runners, don't size down - just use cushioned socks (Balega Blister Resist and Hidden Comfort are good examples) and your regular size will both fit well and not leave your toes exposed to pathologies you do not want part in. Cramped toes in running shoes do nasty things to your feet over time. In very thin socks, the Size 9.5 still had my toes gracing the front of the shoe while the Size 10 clearly felt too large. Cushioned socks have been the perfect solution.
    Thanks for the review.

I have had a couple runs in the Peg+ so far. The traction in rain is really good, i dont love 10mm drops but my main issue is that pricetag. I had to buy in in CAD so with fees and taxes it came out at $263. There are opther options for less than can do more. They are growing on me so time will tell.

I've still got a pair of Turbo 2's with not much running mileage on them, when I first got them I couldn't believe how much quicker I could run in them. I bought them for £119.96 in September 2020 on offer(just checked my orders). If I run in them now I feel like I'm running barefoot and they give nothing in return especially compared to my Vaporflys. On that subject I bought a pair of Vaporfly 3's in September 23, I did a few training runs in them and felt they weren't as good as the 2's and weren't going to be very durable for the £235 I paid for them but I decided to put a few miles on them just everyday runs before sending them back. At some point I realised actually these are the best shoes I ever had for all my running, I just kept going in them, they have well over 1000km's on them and they still get an outing occasionally. I used them for all my training runs for Manchester marathon last April but wore a brand new pair for the marathon where I got a 6 minute PB and a GFA time for London. I'm mostly running in Vaporfly 2's right now due to buying a lot heavily discounted at some point but the 3's are so much better, I ran a HM at the weekend in the 3's and they felt so good. My personal opinion is do your running in the same type of shoes, I mean if you are going to wear plated shoes in a race train in plated shoes because they make you run differently, I'm very superstitious and think swapping between Invincibles and plated shoes caused me to get injured last year. It is expensive running in super shoes all the time but I look out for offers, Sportshoes 15% discounts or 10% club discount is a fair saving on them and in my case (touchwood) has helped me so much.

Im new running and have been watching your videos for awhile. I decided to get these over some of the some other choices because they felt the most natural for me. The zoom fly 6 was my 2nd choice but the mid foot was narrow for me and so my walk wasn't stable in them, some of the other shoes I looked at were to cushioned or to narrow for me. Happy with my choice

Problem is, is it worth the extra money versus the Adidas Adizero SL2? It may be me, but I compare the SL2 to the original Pegasus Turbo. I guess I need to get my hands on the Pegasus Plus to try it out, but as you’re speaking about the running experience and its use scenario, I can’t help but think of the Brooks Hyperion Max v1 as well. Premium race day foam, no plate, lightweight, quick and easy turnover, and you can pick up the Brooks for dirt cheap right now. I’m sure it’s a brilliant shoe, but the price is what kills it for me.

The key to the turbos was the 2 layer combo of zoomx and react, because it made them a lot more robust than say the streakfly with just zoomx and low profile, so I'd get 1000km out of each pair and they still felt pretty good. I can't understand where the weight is coming from and why Nike are so bad at making light shoes now. To me it looks like the upper has way too much material. I have both and think they are both very different shoes. The SL2 is less stable so if you pronate or supinate, be careful. The sl2 is a softer plusher shoe to run in while I think the peg plus is a bit better for speed work. The ground feel of the peg plus makes it a very different beast than the sl2. Must admit I fell in love with the sl2 and I’ve done the majority of my runs in the sl2 since I bought them last month. How would you rate it for supinators. I have been having ankle problems with rolling lateral , had issues with the machine 5 hoka, and I tend to like a bit more cushioning at the bottom back of the shoe. Eg I have resorted to basketball shoes for shorter runs for the lateral stability also been looking at the Hyperion max 2.

They are rubbing my left big toe but at the side not the top so it’s not because of the stripe I think it’s the reinforcement around the toe box. Shame as I really wanted these. I’ve been recently using some OG 35 turbos in the gym on the treadmill -

Would you get this if you have the Vomero? Vomero is a bit unstable and I'm not a fan of the upper but other than that these two seem awfully similar.
Out of the Vomero and the Invincible 3 I actually prefer the Invincible, it's just more fun and more stable.

The peg plus is better for speed work, but IMO it’s not great for general running or long runs.
I don’t find the Vomero 17 unstable. Peg plus is about the same, or maybe slightly less stable if you over-pronate a lot. IMO, the peg plus is not unstable.
Vomero 17 and the Peg Plus will complement each other nicely….but neither shoe does it all.

Nike has lost the magic for me. Always true fan, but the last years they have been stuck and seem off. I bought the Vomero 17. Good shoe, but way too bouncy for my taste. So to get the good old feeling back I put on my starter Nikes from 14 years ago. No foam, no extra mock up bs, just lace up and go. I did the 5k almost 2 minutes faster. Felt pure.

The Peg 41 is insultingly bad. Do not go there people. Nike need a complete refresh for the 42, so people don’t feel a need to splash on this for their daily workhorse. As it stands, this is the one to buy if you MUST buy Nike! But you can legitimately say that every other running shoe brand has a shoe around this price point that would be a better choice. Nike should be concerned.
