You should get hired by Bohemia to do trailers for them. I watched over 421 entries within the past 3 days, this one is the best I've seen so far. Great work.
The lack of music made me upset at first, but then I got it. It's better to leave it silent, to show how quiet the soldiers are. The camera angles, animations, everything. Perfectly done. I think we have a winner.
Thank you very much Waffels. You're absolutely right on the music or atleast my intentions to keep it on a minimum. Also I really didn't wanted to create a Musicvideo. :D But as I said to Vitaly already, I ran out of time and the overall audio kinda irks me a bit and should have gotten some more love. But well, thats how it is now. Thanks for your comment. Have a good day.
Really nice use of the old hand-to-hand mod that permitted the silent grapple/takedown (I remember that mod was itself an entry in the Make Arma Not War first contest). Your made a lot of great hay with the staggered crouch animations and hand gestures (ACE?) all throughout, which made it feel very organic and avoided the robotic look of simultaneous identical animations. Did you slow down the unit anims as well, to create a sense of stealthy movement? The use of the high climb up anim in short cuts to create the image of peeking over the bungalow window sill was just one example of your overall inspired work! The camera work and angles for the stack up and entry on the laptop user were easily on par with e.g. Tears of the Sun, SWAT, or any Hollywood big budget movie depicting vaguely accurate CQB work. Nice sparing use of first-person POV gameplay shots in the mix as well. Nice use of ambient in-game sound effects during the house stealth clearing, as well as the mousewheel incremental door open (ACE/multiple other mods). REALLY slick shot set-up with the one operator pieing around the corner. Good work minimizing your need for custom voice dialogue work -- that was itself a great example of making the most of what you've got. Not every participant had the resources for running higher texture details and recording in 60fps, but I also appreciated those points apart from the personal skill in composition, animation, and editing.
Thank you very much. I really appreciate you leaving such a comment. I like ACE but I didn't use it in here. I just used the Mocap Melee Mod for that take down animation and the Advance Rappeling Mod for the rappeling obviously. Other than that, everything else is vanilla Arma animations. And you are right, it's sometimes slowed down a little. In the editor to open the doors there is actually just a module you can place and sync to a trigger to time it. The CQB sequence is kinda... interesting, isn't it? I mean nobody got hit and oh look what a convenient not covered back door. :D Well thank's again. I'm glad you like my work. Have a good one.
Really liked the work with the camera, but in my opinion not enough music in some action situations. Your machinima looks so realistic. And of course 60 FPS! Nice! Like it!
Thanks for checking out man. I really appreciate it. And I kinda agree, I'm overall not too happy with the audio. Unfortunately I had not much of a choice, I actually ran out of time and had to upload it as it is. But I'm glad you like my camera work. Thanks for your time. Have a good one.
This is by far the best Arma 3 video that I've ever seen! I can't believe that this didn't even receive a nomination, everything about this vid is absolutely perfect. The camera angles, music, ambient sounds, animations & lighting is absolutely top notch. I've subscibed to your channel in the hopes that you'll make more Arma 3 videos as outstanding as this piece of work. Keep up the great work. Thanks!
Hey man, thanks alot for your kind words and appreciation. Stay tuned. I just need to find the time and even more importantly wait for the new DLC to pop up. :D
I've seen some good video and then I saw this. ThatWasNinja, I loved this soo much because you managed to capture the tension and the stress along with some amazing animations that were utilized so well and fully effective in the context. I didn't like the initial future goggles but the fact that you removed them just make me very happy. Seriously amazing effort. I know, I couldn't pull anything like this, lol
Thank you man. I'm very happy so many people ended up liking my video. Thats crazy. :) With the goggles I wanted to atleast somewhat protect the protagonists when rappeling, while still be able to see them kinda clear as this is pretty much the introduction of them. I'm glad you like my video. Have a good one.
This is bloody incredible, especially as this is your first one, damn I have been making videos for quite some time and am not even close to this quality . Just about everything in this video is just amazing.
Really well made video. The story is interesting and makes you want to keep on watching. Really like the work with the camera and with all the character animations it all looks so realistic. Best scene is when they enter the last bulding and manage to kill the hostage keepers. I really liked it! Would you consider to make tutorials on how you made it, how to setup the character animations and camera angles?? becouse that would be awsome. Again, great work man :)
Thank you very much. Well I don't know. I didn't really knew what I was doing, everything was messy, a lot of trial and error and I'm by far not an expert when it comes to cinematography, I just watch a lot of movies. :D But I guess I could show the basics I used to set up animations and stuff. I might do this. Thanks again, I'm glad you like it.
ThatWasNinja Well, you made it look like the work of a pro for us watching! The only thing that could make it better was if you would add some music in some of the scenes, but I understand that you had a rough time limit ;) I have voted for you ma man.. Did you use a pc mouse and keyboard for the camera or a console controller?? :)
Thanks a lot for your feedback and support. I really appreciate it. I tried a xbox controller at first (in the cargo hold of the V-44) but ran into some issues. So I did everything else using mouse and keyboard. I will look into making some sort of - behind the scenes - how to - kinda stuff. :) Have a good one.
I also voted for your video because of your excellent animations and the good choose of the camera angle.. Good job! I hope you will make more cinematic movies of arma 3
Awesome work man! You did an amazing job on this. But what is most impressive is that you got Gerard Butler to play the lead in it! Had no idea he did Armachinimas
I know right? I actually put a shit ton of money into making a scan of Gerald Butler to get him in the game, and then I got Andy Serkis to motion capture the digital Gerald Butler, all that just for this video. Amazing right? If you want to honor all that effort, please vote for me. :) Thank you tho.
This is great! It's cinematic and realistic at the same time! Sometimes, image are too static, but it's nothing, comparing to good sides of the video! Bravo! You should definitely continue do make videos like this! So thank you and good luck!
Shame this isn't in the final selection, I watched all of the finalist's vids and this was genuinely way better than any of them! Amazing storyline and amazing camera work ;)
Thank you very much. With a voting system like that I honestly didn't expect anything else. If you already have a solid viewer base with like hundreds or even thousands of subscribers, obviously you have a huge advantage. But don't get me wrong, thats not me trying to talk shit about the nominees, some of them are really really! good and high quality and in my opinion better than my video, so I'd say well deserved. And those I voted for myself made it in. So I'm glad for them. In the end I'm just very happy that so many people saw and liked my video. Even if a Arma Shirt would have been sweet. :D Again, thank you!
It's interesting to watch stuff like this because it's some _fantastic_ work, even considering the rather clunky tools given to us by something like Arma. Moreover, it's interesting because you've got the talent to make a great piece of work in spite of a less-than-ideal medium, and I can only imagine what skilled individuals like you will be able to do once platforms like VR become more fully fleshed out.
Thank you. I like watching videogame cinematics as well. It's always cool to see what people come up with. And overall I think (even if its difficult sometimes) ArmA 3 has huge amount of freedom and tools to help.
Thank you. Pretty much everything you see here is vanilla and comes with the game, except of that animation at 5:06, this is from the "MOCAP Melee" Mod you can find here: www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=27262 A great addition to these more stealthy missions, in my opinion.
Hey man, yes some voice samples and sounds are from "Act Of Valor" but most of the sound is from "Zero Dark Thirty" and I got some from "No Country For Old Man", "Unbroken" and from some military footage as well.
Can any 1 say operation barberossa an english soldier got in the mix with his grp and 1 african soldier the west side boys took em hostage n the had to send in sas to get them home but hey no harm intended m8 its a wery well made lill clip so cheers
Not really. I mean I dont really know. I actually didnt put much thoughts into all that. But what I did, I recorded most of the scenes and shots multiple times. Mostly because I wasnt happy with how it looked in the first recording. Like something was off or glitchy or what ever. As much as I love Arma its just a bitch sometimes. Really annoying. However, I ended up with a shit ton of clips and chose the best one out of it. And thats basically it I think.
Hey, I'm interested in playing ARMA3 as a RT strategy game...is there a cheat or something to play single player/multiplayer with a tactical view similar to the Zeus view?
Hey, I don't really know why you're asking right here, but to answer you anyway, I think there is actually a Mod for this, I don't remember the name tho.
So... can we maybe not get overly emotional about someone not knowing about an aircraft, please? The V-44 Blackfish we have in game is inspired by the MV-22 Osprey and I guess the V-280 Valor prototype manufactured by Boeing and Bell, used mainly by the us-military. You can look it up. These tiltrotor Aircrafts are combining the speed and range of a Plane with the ability to hover, start and land vertically like a Helicopter. Now looking at the first shot of my video you can see they might have covered some distance already on their way to the AO, maybe to much for a Helicopter to be practical. So I think choosing this aircraft is actually pretty reasonable. But I'm not gonna lie, I have chosen it because I think these things are really cool! :D Anyway, thanks for your feedback.
It's a Cinematic to show off the game. The game itself is futuristic, being settled in 2035ish. So, why not have actual futuristic aircraft and soldiers?
This whole scenario and the character voices are pretty much replicate from Act of Valor. Which i guess is okay but abit cheap and dull to just copy like that. Least you could do is give credit to the movie in your description. The pale white faces look pretty awkward in the jungle as they stand out so easily, i would've expected some face paints or atleast boonie hats. Really impressive animations and camera work though. Could use some more gore and firing effects such as smoke coming from the suppressors, as well as bullet impacts.. Overall looks pretty cool, again definitely the best animations i've see so far. Giving my vote to this one.
Hey man, thanks for your comment. Well the whole scenario is actually by far more a replica of your average ArmA mission. Atleast when ever I play small scale coop missions or even the Apex coop campaign, its exactly like that. Small groups on either a sabotage, HVT kill or hostage rescue mission. And since I wanted to keep my cinematic true to the game while using mostly Apex stuff (because I like) it just turned out that way. So my inspiration and ideas are coming from the game itself and also a bit from my own military experience but not exactly from any movie. But I can see where you're coming from, when I was done recording and was looking for some audiosamples that might fit I remembered that movie as well (cause, yes sure its kinda similiar), looked it up and got some of the voice samples from there. Thats basically all there is to it. I mean sure, you can probably tell there is influences from a lot of movies I've seen and if I would have gone for some carrier ops, you would most likely see some similarities to Top Gun. Thats just how it is. Btw. I used even more audiosamples and character voices from "Zero Dark Thirty", "No Country For Old Man" and "Unbroken" as well as from actual military footage. Thats no secret. But I didn't copy either of those, atleast not intentional. I agree on the camouflage, it's unrealistic but I decided to leave it like that to keep the protagonists recognisable for the viewer. Everything else you've mentioned is missing, I agree as well, it irks me just as the overall audio irks me... unfortunately I ran out of time to get hands on all these details.
the only critique that i have is the goggles. you are protecting their eyes from possible derbis but not their heads? if they just have some airframes or something similar Id understand. over all kicj ass animations and all that.
Also, (forgot to add) the sniper/marksman 2-man team. some camo paint or boonie with the cool net hanging wouldve been impressive. Thoughs guys skin stood out on the rock they were on, but non the less still a kick ass vid. this actually my number 2 pick.
Thank you. If thats the only flaws you saw I'm happy. :D But seriously tho, I totaly agree with you from a realistic standpoint. When I set everything up I actually thought about using the camo faces right from the beginning, not only at the sniper scene, since it would make sense. But I decided against it. Here is why... Even tho my video doesn't have much of what one would call a story and by far no character development, I still wanted you (the viewer in general) be able to follow the scene and to tell at any point who is who and what is everybody doing. Now in a videogame, especially in a military enviroment where you would expect to see soldiers wearing uniforms and all that stuff that makes everybody look the same, you're kinda limited and I felt like I need to find a way to archive a different enough look for the protagonists, just so the viewer doesn't get lost. There sure are ways to make this work and still be super realistic, for example actually showing them putting on camo netting like you said, but that would also take a lot of time and I honestly already underestimated the time and effort you need to invest to make a video like that. Well I hope that makes sense. :D Thank you very much for your feedback. Always appreciated. Have a good one.
To be honest, dude. I can watch these all day. Your vid in general really doesnt need a story. You a problem and a solution. (prisoner and rescuers) Thats the story right there. Problem solved. Now on the topic of uniformity, no. Thats isnt what I was getting at. Especially being former military, Uniformity isnt necessary and that is an outdated concept (atleast in my unit). There uniformity wasnt the thing I was harking about but the mission essential equipment. (btw, i was meaning a boonie-hat with camo netting hanging from it. just an example) Your vid has alot of realism going on for a 4man team, I dont know if you did it intentionally or not but there is subsance that most "machinimas" wont have....for instance it looks like when your guys got off the osprey, it looks like the conducted SLLS...(did u do that on purpose?) Anyway, Once again, your work was amazing, Ive shown your vid to a couple co-workers at my job site and the thing that we identified with is the smooth movements that your characters had, it didnt move to fast and not too slow either.
I'm actually really happy to hear all that. Again I agree with you. But as I said I think it's difficult to get all that realism in a videogame movie kinda thing while still keep the audience aware of who is who. And I got that you meant the hat with netting hanging from. :D I'm actually curious what unit you served in, if you don't mind telling. I spend some time in the military as well, so I tried to keep my video close to what I learned but as well to what you see in movies and stuff. Like in such a situation where nobody should even know you're there, be quiet, take your time, shut up, just listen and look (yeah even smell if you're not happen to be in a game) if there's any possible threat near by... of course such as obvious things like cover all directions and each other and... well you know all that. "Slow is smooth and smooth is fast" right? So yeah I tried to keep all that realistic on purpose even tho not everything in the video makes sense. I also feel like this more slow paced, tactical behaviour is pretty much the essence of Arma compared to other games. Thank you very much for voting.
Who'd have thought, after all the shit they've put him through, that Ben Kerry would go on to become a CTRG member?
After all the stuff her survives, can you blame them for making him CTRG?
Who knows.. Maybe all the Stratis/Altis campaign was just a personal test for him, if he is fit to become one.
@@CTRG "Miller screwed you over? That's how we all got here!"
@@CTRG hey... that's a suspicious name
You should get hired by Bohemia to do trailers for them. I watched over 421 entries within the past 3 days, this one is the best I've seen so far. Great work.
Thank you very much man.
But aren't there only like 130 entries or so?
Well you may be right. I've just been watching so many Arma cinematics that I probably lost count of all the actual entries, lol.
All good man. :D
Thanks for your interest and all the time you spend on watching all the entries.
Of course, anytime!
so perfessional.so perfect.
But as I said to Vitaly already, I ran out of time and the overall audio kinda irks me a bit and should have gotten some more love. But well, thats how it is now.
Thanks for your comment.
Have a good day.
Wow, The soldier movements are incredible and the deaths too. Great work!!
Well thank's again. I'm glad you like my work.
Have a good one.
This is excellent cinematography. Nice job.
Thank you very much. I'm glad you like it.
I guess its fair to say, "That was pretty fucking ninja."

yeah gen kill is fantastic XD
Hello there!^^
This is a excellent video!

Love this kind of short movies

One of the coolest video’s I’ve ever seen.
Just watched the whole thing, That was insane. How did you get them doing all those animations?
Hey man, thank you.
I'm most likely gonna make a short, simple and hopefully helpful video about how I made this.
plz do and great job guys
This is by far the best Arma 3 video that I've ever seen! I can't believe that this didn't even receive a nomination, everything about this vid is absolutely perfect. So many cool cinematic's coming out now from this #Armachinima :P
This is from Act of Valor ain't it? Best movie i've watched
Some voice samples are from that movie, yes.
The U.S special forces are my husbands 🤩🇺🇸🇺🇲❤️🩵

Wow. Awesome this is just.. Wow.
the animations are very good, good job

Pretty good.
Still wondering how you did the Blackfishes interior lighting to purple and stuff but also animating them inside the Blackfish. Good job!
Shame this isn't in the final selection, I watched all of the finalist's vids and this was genuinely way better than any of them! Amazing storyline and amazing camera work ;)

Awesome Video. I'll vote this one
Very appreciated, thank you.
I know this is old but what song is used at the end? Amazing btw
Thank you. I looked it up, it's the Apex Remix of "This Is War" from the Arma 3 Apex Soundtrack.
It's just beautifull
Yes! win!
It's interesting to watch stuff like this because it's some _fantastic_ work, even considering the rather clunky tools given to us by something like Arma.

Really good shit. Super tense and well made
Thank you man.
i saw miller the killer! good job!
Definitely one of the better entries. Are those custom animations?
Thank you.
Pretty much everything you see here is vanilla and comes with the game, except of that animation at 5:06, this is from the "MOCAP Melee" Mod you can find here: www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=27262
A great addition to these more stealthy missions, in my opinion.
How did you get the units to shoot during an animation?
I didn't. I wish I'd know a way to do that tho.
very Nice job this machinima was excellent. I hope you gonna do more like this one
Did you use the sound effects and character voices from act of valor? That was an awesome movie.
Hey man, yes some voice samples and sounds are from "Act Of Valor" but most of the sound is from "Zero Dark Thirty" and I got some from "No Country For Old Man", "Unbroken" and from some military footage as well.
Very nice video! big work!
muy buen video muy bueno
This is very good work!!
Thanks a lot man.
Keep it up fam! Killer work! ROCK STEADY
BADASS
Epic
hope you can make more movies.
BTW you got my vote
That was very nice!
estupendo trabajo.
Gracias. Me alegro de que te guste.
Oh my god, nice job man..excellent!
Thanks man.
Nice! Vraiment bien. Bravo.
Merci beaucoup.
best i have seen
tres beau travail !!
Merci. Je suis content que ça te plaise.
Can any 1 say operation barberossa an english soldier got in the mix with his grp and 1 african soldier the west side boys took em hostage n the had to send in sas to get them home but hey no harm intended m8 its a wery well made lill clip so cheers
I assume you've used a lot Greenscreen while making this? Looks great
Thanks. I think I used a greenscreen for the cockpit. But other than that, it's all ingame.
Amazing!
Was the "target secure" at 8:37 the voice of the lead seal in Act of Valor?
Yes sir, it was.
At least Kerry has a better paygrade after that Altis Incident, and yet Colonel Armstrong will never acknowledge him.
good job, voted here
Thank you very much man, I appreciate it.
Very nice.
how do you make the AI so good?
Hey man, it's animations if thats what you're asking.
i wish arma 3 had the rope deployment in the game
I feel you. Would be nice to have stuff like this in game without the need of mods.
You use a controller for Gcam?
Nope, all mouse and keyboard.
I tried to use my xbox one controller but I keep getting error messages.
ThatWasNinja but you use a a very low sensibility ?
Make another!
awesome!
Thank you!
When did Kerry joined CTRG😅

nope ... that was not awsome ... ... ... that ... was ... NINJA!!! outstanding work dude ...
Thanks for your comment ... Thank you man ... :D
awsome video :)
Thank you bro :)
very god video although the helicopter airplane is kind of make it very unreal. maybe next tim use real technology so the viewer make it so live like!
that's an osprey which is real technology
You stupid fucking moron
John Hurn he just comments on others video to give them hate just becouse he Did not make a good one by his own :/
So... can we maybe not get overly emotional about someone not knowing about an aircraft, please?

Now looking at the first shot of my video you can see they might have covered some distance already on their way to the AO, maybe to much for a Helicopter to be practical. So I think choosing this aircraft is actually pretty reasonable. But I'm not gonna lie, I have chosen it because I think these things are really cool! :D
Anyway, thanks for your feedback.
It's a Cinematic to show off the game. The game itself is futuristic, being settled in 2035ish. So, why not have actual futuristic aircraft and soldiers?
I want you to make more
Dam Kerry XD
Sort of reminds me what Ghost Reccon was wince ...
I liked the first Ghost Recon back in the days.
The leader who is he
Damn Dying while taking a piss is horrible.
I know right? I hate when that happens.
the only problem is why did you use thoose gun sounds ? they dn't fit at all
Well, I like them.
jolie vidéo ;-)
Merci :)
if Bohemian put this into thier shop, the sales will triple, but will be bad review for false advertising
Vedyos laaar aaab army 2 war
the only critique that i have is the goggles. you are protecting their eyes from possible derbis but not their heads? if they just have some airframes or something similar Id understand. over all kicj ass animations and all that.
But seriously tho, I totaly agree with you from a realistic standpoint.
Thank you very much for your feedback.
(btw, i was meaning a boonie-hat with camo netting hanging from it. just an example)
Your vid has alot of realism going on for a 4man team, I dont know if you did it intentionally or not but there is subsance that most "machinimas" wont have....for instance it looks like when your guys got off the osprey, it looks like the conducted SLLS...(did u do that on purpose?)
Anyway,
Once again, your work was amazing, Ive shown your vid to a couple co-workers at my job site and the thing that we identified with is the smooth movements that your characters had, it didnt move to fast and not too slow either.
I'm actually really happy to hear all that.
Again I agree with you. But as I said I think it's difficult to get all that realism in a videogame movie kinda thing while still keep the audience aware of who is who. And I got that you meant the hat with netting hanging from. :D
I'm actually curious what unit you served in, if you don't mind telling.
I was with the 3-38th LRS in Fort Lewis (JBLM), Washington.
