    Thanks Grant, I've been waiting for something like this. You do a very good job of explaining the whole process.

    i really appriciate a company that makes every attempt to stay american made and sourced i don't think people understand how neccesary it is for any country to thrive, than to enable and promote skilled labor, i understand the common argument against buying a boot this expensive my immediate solution is to save and have a few quality items rather than a large quantity of cheaply made items produced overseas in countries that care little about liberty and freedom i wish nicks and other companies more success and prosperity as they attempt to make america great again

    In the "how it's made" videos no questions are answered about why things are done. Like skiving. Wasn't totally sure why it was done and this vid answers all that. Thanks so much!!

    Very cool! 2-3 hours touch time, interesting...sounds like real efficiency to put together such a quality product in that amount of time. These folks are pros. These boots are amazing.

    I mean honestly I can't see why people gripe about a $500-600 boot. The man just showed you how these boots are hand crafted. I love watching these videos especially the craftsmanship that goes into these boots. You get what you pay for people, your making an investment in something that could last for years and years if properly taken care of like anything else. Just my thoughts. Thank you.

    Very cool! I was in town in June to get properly fitted and place an order. I grew up in Spokane and I’ve wanted a pair of Nick’s since I was a kid…only 13-19 more weeks to go!

      @@nicksusa 😍. As an amateur/hobbiest bootmaker I always thought the (painstaking) traditional welt I've been hand sewing was the pinnacle of construction. I naively didnt think about the fine dust/dirt that could eventually creep under the welt as you demonstrated in another recent video about your newer rubber 365 welted boots. Dang. Thank you for your transparency to show how you make things and why you do. One day when i have enough cash set up I'll buy my holy grail boots from you guys in colour no8. -virtus leather ryan

    Can’t wait to finally get my Nicks boots. Ordered back in October, was told 16-20 weeks lead time. Apparently when custom fitted, a measurement was missed and wasn’t contacted until 2 months later, further delaying my order ( don’t understand why when order was payed in full and Nicks had the order and weren’t going to make the boots for another 4 months). Still no update to the status of my boots.

      It's not unusual for a smaller business to have a customer pay up front for anything considered a custom job, which most of their boots are. Even if you're buying a 'stock configuration', it still involves a lot of hands on work and time investment.

    • @connordooley
      @connordooley 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They have lead times, these boots take awhile to make, it was something you had to acknowledge before placing the order

    I am surprised both by how small the footprint of your production space is compared to your brand presence, and to the short hands-on time (~2.5 hrs) to make a pair of boots (or was that per boot?). In either case. That really speaks to the experience and skill the staff has, particularly in considering the quality of your boots. Great tour!

  • @johnready630
    @johnready630 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Thanks for the tour Grant , now I know how my current boots have been thru all these stages and how my Merryman boots will be done in several weeks from now .
    With all the additional styles added to your catalog is Nicks going to have to expand to keep up with demand ? I sure hope the quality doesn't slip , you guys have some fantastic craftsmen there......better keep them all happy !!

      Be nice if we get to see some of your team in person if they don't mind being on camera . The biker fellow that does the sewing looks to be a hard worker and treats the machine with TLC as I'm sure he does with his bike. 👍

    Nicks USA how common is it to need a larger upper compared to the lower? can you maybe do a video on that, showing what a size 10 or 11 upper looks like compared to a size 9 for example.

    To me, hand made means one craftsman making the boots from start to finish using traditional methods. Each pair is custom made for a particular customer. I doubt anyone does that anymore due to cost.

    • @Patryn71
      @Patryn71 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are bespoke shoe makers out there still. The cost can get crazy though. And the wait time? Many make Nicks wait times seem quick.
