Thank you for this Worked like a charm I didn't use a punch at the end, just the wood and hammer. Was ready to mow and then my tractor started leaking coolant after a few passes lol. Tractors! On to the next project
I've never had one leak there for over a decade, then last year, two of my brush hogs started leaking at that seal. Glad I tried it from the front...much easier than an HST fan, right?!!
I would have thought this to be a daunting task but you’ve proven it to be a fairly easy DIY project. Too bad you didn’t have a piece of pipe to go around the shaft to set the new seal evenly. Although, you make it work anyway. Thanks again for the excellent content!
Good tip...even PVC pipe could have worked. When I did the other brush hog, it seemed like it could come off the front instead of taking apart the gearbox. I was surprised and pleased with how easy it pulled out the front! Thanks for watching. 👍
Excellent video and worked perfectly on my Land Pride cutter! Unfortunately, I have to split the gearbox to replace the seal on my old "woods only" cutter, but at least you have a video for that process too! Thanks for taking the time to video both options!
Thanks for the process. Was ready to tear the gearbox apart. I might try a dent puller to remove it (guys gotta play) and a piece of pipe that fits over the shaft to seat it. Someone below mentioned PVC. Good idea!! Going to order that seal now.
Great job for sure. I watched the other video first where you took the gearbox apart. I said it could be done without taking it apart, then I seen this video.
I looked at that video that's great. A Video!!! There was water in this housing. I just brought brought that brush hog. I already made a way to put the shield in the front without taking it apart with a piece of PVC pipe Will work perfect.

Used this method today, 2/1/24, on a 6 ft Howse Rotary Cutter. (Cheeta H-510 gearbox). Worked perfectly! No leaks! Thanks!
Glad it helped
