Thank you! I suspect I'm going to get to do this. Nothing looks "simple" on modern cars, so congratulations on actually being able to film it halfway decently!
I really appreciate your videos! I used your motor mount vids to help me do that, and today I'm changing out the starter! Your videos are clear, informative, not rushed, but also no wasted time. Thank you! God bless you!
Awesome how to Alexey. My starter on my 2000 neon is starting to go out. thank you very much for the guide. it gave me the confidence to do the labor myself.
I know that you posted this 4 months ago but i have same car but theres like a plastic cover on the bottom blocking me from loosening is this by chance a heat shield and could i remove ? outside of that GREAT video
For anyone with an Automatic transmission 2000-2001 Neon (Mine is a Plymouth); After you remove the plastic protector underneath, you will need to remove a metal plate used by the engine/transmission for support. The metal plate has one small (10mm?) bolt that connects to the intake manifold, two 15mm bolts in the middle of the plate, and three 18mm bolts at the bottom. Remove them all and the plate to gain access to your starter's bottom bolt and to be able to remove the starter through the bottom.
John Horan John, there is no way to remove the starter unless you remove that mounting plate. It is a real bear to remove...You will need some 1/2" tools and breaker bars, and a pry bar. I had an easier time replacing the heater core...
Hey buddy I have a 2001 dodge neon and everything is basically the same only there is a plate bloccking the way of the bottom 15mm bolt any ideas? or do i have to remove that as well because its attached to a lot of other parts
I have replaced the starter as directed..BUT now there's an issue.i removed part of air box for easier access and reinstalled everything correctly bit as, soon as I start car it acts as if the accelerator is, pressed or the starter is on constant .burning up the starter to failure
50lxnando Are you sure that you connected all cables of the starter correctly? Beside that.. the throttle body hose have to be well tightened and connected on boss sides. also check all vacuum hoses...
50lxnando If throttle body hose or throttle body is not connected on this dodge neon the car will act like accelerator pedal is fully pressed , cause throttle body plate is completely open and maximum of air goes to the engine...
my sister has a 2002 Dodge neon I just remove the manifold and it was the starter was easy to get in and get out that's the way I did and crawl underneath car

you need to remove plastic protective cover to get access to the bolt... if you don't want to remove the cover try to loosen the bolt from the top...

how long do you think that used starter will last? 6 months?
Is it possible for u to make a tutorial video on this? Thank u ..... Awesome videos
Is the starter located in the same spot for a 04 dodge neon?
i think so... if you have 2 litter engine... not 2.4... witch are installed on SRT+4 model of neon...
Yes I have a 2.0
Yes, I really appreciate the help Mr. Gavrilov
@@gavrilovas1 a stick shift is in the same spot as well as long as its the same engine
How do I change the antenna on my Neon 2002? Is it replaceable with a universal antenna (an antenna that is not expandable)?
I have a big mounting plate from the transmission in the way of the lower bolt. Do you not have this?
no.... i don't have transmission mount there cause my transmission is automatic.. look's like you have manual tranny that's why...
Spikey911usa I have that mounting plate i the way... How did you overcome this?
you have to remove the bolt while blocking th nut from the other side... usually they using lock thread that's why heat it with the touch...
i have video on my channel were i was replacing transmission on Mazda 626.. watch some of them and you will see how to remove those mounting plates
