- In this final episode of Beautiful Zimbabwe, Ryan convinces me, to travel with him to Gonarezhou. We then take the route "less travelled" to get there and obviously arrive late again, but we have the most amazing adventure through the most incredible lands.
Thank you to Ryan from @4x4ventures for some of the great footage in this episode.
Not even 15 mins in. Happy to say you passed by my village. Were my father was born and raised
Oh wow that’s awesome. Thanks for watching and commenting
You should be paid by the Zimbabwe tourist board ! Stunning, beautiful video that makes me so want to be there.
haha now wouldn't that be a dream job. Please refer me 🤣 Thank you for watching Chris and for the huge complement.
Thank you for your videos. I'm a white SA male, Jhb born, lived 4yrs in Chiredzi and then farmed tobacco in the north for 10yrs, haven't seen those roads, that bush, for 50 yrs. What beautiful memories you give me. Now I live in Plymouth UK. 72yrs old now. Thank you, Katenda, (that's thank you in mashona) for your videos. 🤗🤗🤗😍🤗
It's a pleasure Robert. Very happy you enjoyed them. Thank you for watching and commenting.
Aaaa Robert its Tatenda 😂😂😂😂😂
Hi Bruce. I am a Zimbabwean who recently qualified as a Tour Guide and I enjoy your travel videos very very much. You have put my Country on the Map Brother. My wish would be to be your Tour Guide one day soon and show you more of Zimbabwe's 7 wonders and much more!
Hi. That's awesome to read and I would really be happy if I helped "put Zim on the map" . All the best with the Tour Guiding. You need to email me through my website so I can list you for my clients. Thank you for watching and commenting
One of the most special reservise in Africa still very wild and not seeing cars very 5 min a unbelievable park a experiences of being in a very wild Africa as it should be Elephant can be a problem and need to be treated with respect I've been going for many years it's an wonderful experience well worth a visit
So true and that's what makes it even more special and one of the very few truly wild places left. Definitely one of my top 5.
Thank you for watching and commenting Mark.
Zimbabwe is beautiful, thanks for sharing 🇿🇼
My pleasure and thank you for watching Sheli
I have been following your Zim adventure from your time at Mana Pools. What I have really learnt from your Zim series is "yes we may have our fair share of problems but we remain a happy nation sorrounded by nothing but beauty".
Thanks Bruce!
I absolutely agree. Thank you for watching and supporting.
I will be back next month and having a Gettogether in Harare if you are there. Please watch my Instagram if you would like to join
Thanks again for the support
What an awesome video Bruce! It was both entertaining & informative. There's nothing quite like rural Zimbabwe and the bush was stunning. Made me feel very homesick. I visited Gonarezhou when I was in std 5 (1974) on a school safari of the Lowveld. I remember the Chilojo Cliffs. We walked in the riverbed thru the rounded rocks and those cliffs are really imposing. It always amazes me how clean all Zim cities, towns & villages are, compared to the filth & decay of SA.
you need to go back and visit. An amazing country with amazing people and places.
So glad you enjoyed it and thank you for watching and commenting again.
PS. I am back in two weeks time, so watch out for that series in a couple months time.
I live in Bulawayo and I keep seeing similar comments on the cleanliness of our cities and towns on other videos. We take this for granted because we see the opposite. We just had a massive spring clean a couple of weeks ago here in Bulawayo where pretty much most of the city spent a week clearing problem littered areas in the city street by street.
@@ncubesays I am very fortunate to travel most of Southern Africa and it is so nice to see the pride in keeping places clean. Yes not perfect but much better than most other places I visit, so congratulations and keep it up. 👍👍
@@ncubesays Always a good community building opportunity and every bit helps. Well done !
I learn from Bruce that when driving in dust road slow down when approaching house and people so as not to cover them with dust
Yes exactly. 🙏
Firstly hy Mr Bruce, thx so much for bringing the other side of Zim to the table, l am a Ndebele from Matabeleland and l didn't know that the other side of my country is beautiful like this, thx so much guys, keep it up
You are welcome. I will hopefully be doing Matabeleland in May. Watch this space.

You are welcome Mr Bruce, always l am with you, with the love of God
Slowing down to avoid covering pedestrians in dust is such a class move.
Thank you but I think it’s just basic manners isn’t it?

As always guys … fantastic series you have developed here Bruce and Ryan .. good blokes doing great things together as mates .. I am but only half way through this episode but heck I want to come back home to explore as you are now . Love the country and the people as super dooper friendly. .. I enjoy how long your episodes are .. really impressed … looking forward more from you Bruce and Ryan… 🙏🏻👏👏👏
Thanks so much and that is exactly what I wanted to achieve. I am sure Ryan will be doing his episode soon on his channel and in all honestly he actually knows what he is doing unlike me, :) so keep a look out for that. Thank you for watching and commenting again. So happy you are still enjoying the episodes.
Nice one Bruce. I'm quite impressed with the perfomance of your new Landy not to mention Ryan's Ford Ranger. Looking forward to your Botswana excursion. Like what you said " If you get an opportunity to explore Zim or anywhere else just do it " while you can. Live just don't exist in this world we're in. 🇿🇼 🇧🇼🇿🇦 🇳🇦 🇿🇲
Thank you. I am very fortunate to have this vehicles and be able to travel in it. I can't wait to share the Bots trip too as I think the camera equipment I now have is far better quality and will deliver better quality, well I hope anyway as I am still learning.
And yes just do it. Forget the things and stuff and vehicles that many claim you need and just get out and do it.
Thank you for watching and commenting.
I really enjoyed that. It was relaxed and I wasn't "hoping we'd see this, or hoping we'd see that". It was like being along and enjoying the ride, appreciating what we did see as we rode along. Thanks very much Bruce. one of the best trip videos I've yet seen.
Thanks so much Brian. That is exactly what I am trying to do and so glad you found that and enjoyed it. Its a massive complement from someone with your travel experience. Thank you for watching and commenting.

Another great video Bruce we planning a trip to Zim next year your videos are great to realize what conditions are like. If I may ask why you had reservations about visiting Gonarezhou. The game viewing there looks amazing.
It’s definitely worth visiting Gonarezhou.
Hi Garry, it is absolutely worth visiting and I regret my original reservations about visiting there. I will be back there next month and will be taking my family there in May next year. It truly is a spectacular place.
Thank you for watching and commenting.
Thanks Bruce. We were there last year July and the reeds and greenery in the river had been washed away by a flood. We will be there again this July. 5th time

HI great video.....I think it would be nice to give The Frankfurt Zoological society credit for the condition of the park in general and facilities .It is a joint venture between them and Zimparks and they have put millions of USD into infrastructure and anti-poaching
Absolutely as well as the teams on the ground doing the work, staff that are all so friendly etc etc it’s brilliant what they have all done. Without them who knows what it would be like now. Thank you for commenting and watching.
Thoroughly enjoyed tne Zim series Bruce, great job - thanks for the effort of putting it together. I was born there but alas may never get to see it again. Your editing is getting top notch!! Looking forward to the next video. 👍

We’ve (hubby and I) just finished watching all these episodes. We thoroughly enjoyed seeing our beautiful Zimbabwe again. It brings back so many memories we took for granted. We’re making new ones in Australia now, but it’s nice to reminisce. Have you ever explored the Eastern Highlands (our “home town “)?
That’s awesome. Thank you for watching.
I did a series where I went through some of the eastern highlands. Have a look for the video with Birchenough bridge on the thumbnail. The series is called “ Chasing Smiles”

Secondly I’m a Landy owner and I’m now fully committed to turning it into an overland vehicle. Now I just need to get approval from the minister of finance aka my wife 😂

Epic Bruce well done! You definately captured some of the beauty of Zimbabwe. I do transport round Southern Africa and really love to spend time in the deep rural areas where the people are so friendly and welcoming. Keep up the wonderful good work you are doing and big big thanks for all the lovely memories of my childhood trips down the old strip roads. Buchwa Mountain I last climbed 50 odd years ago! Keep it up Bruce your channel will grow and grow
Thank you Graham, there is so much more I plan to capture. So true about the people in the rural areas.
Thank you so much for the compliments, support and taking the time to comment.
Great video with lots of useful information ; gonarezhou NP will be our last park out of the five major zim parks that we plan to visit next dry season in 2024 before entering moz (via sango ) ; getting to chipinda pools via the chiredzi road looks relatively easy but towing a trailvan I am not sure about the other two camps that we are planning to stay at in the north ( chinguli and chivote ? ) and that is if we don't have to travel directly south after chipinda due to the water crossings ; the plan is to get as near as possible to the confluence .... before moving south ; your comments are much appreciated ; Thanks and regards.
Thank you Joao. The Chiredzi tar road is mostly new now an in great condition. The dirt road to Chipinda is also in great condition. I will be doing that water crossing in Gonarezhou in about 4 weeks time on the way back from Chewore and Zumba and I will be towing the Conqueror Commander stealth. I will also cover it in an upcoming episode.
In October I did a trip from the North to the South of the park where I stayed at Mabalauta campsite (spectacular) also which will be in my next episode I am working on now. There is no where that I can think of on the route that I did where I wouldn't tow my Commander.
I like the way you captured the trip Bruce, I have a question, and I believe those planning to visit the Gonarezhou game reserve might find this useful. Is there a guide/map to the locations of the campsites and how secure are they say I don't have a roof-top tent and have no camping experience, also what mechanical tools should one carry just to be on the safe side. Thanks for the great content, looking forward to more less travelled route adventures.
Thank you Simbaarahe. I carry basic tools but it will depend on your vehicle and how much you know about using those tools.
Gonarezhou had a great website you can visit. I would stick to the main camps. You don’t need a roof top tent or experience. Just get out there and enjoy. 3 important things to make sure are possible, a comfortable sleep, rehydration, and food. Use dry ice in a cooler box for your food and drink. Don’t worry about all the stuff people say you need.
Enjoy and let me know how it goes

Wonderful to see baobab trees, that I was so fascinated by in my youth. There is a particularly fine example at the Baobab Hotel midway between Dete and Vic Falls - quite near the Hwange Colliery. We used to call the large pods known as 'monkey bread' or more commonly 'cream of tartar fruit'. Loving your videos - bringing back so many memories of my home for the 1st 16 years of my life!

Like the story of the snake God's at the dam wall , your old school looks fantastic and how you made an old lady smile at her small road side shop. Good to see you in Gonarezhou. My favorite place in Zimbabwe. Sure you would have had no problem with the 2nd crossing. Why did you say you had reservations about visiting the Park. Hope you enjoyed your time there.
Thank you Nigel. We probably wouldn't but I never do a crossing without knowing what to expect either by walking it or seeing another vehicle take it. The crocs looked hungry and Ryan wouldn't take his shoes off and get wet for some reason :) :) so we took the safe option.
I was a bit negative earlier this year and cancelled a family trip there after my booking value basically double two weeks before we were supposed to arrive. (went from around US$600 to over US$1100) Apparently a mistake was made on the original booking and I was charged local rates. Anyway, wrong or right I am very happy Ryan convinced me to go on this trip. I will be going back in May with my family and have already started saving.
I absolutely loved it there. Its a magical place and I will be there again next month.
