Even veterans with 10-20 years of professional work have shut down temporarily or gone bankrupt. The only thing I can do at home now with all the lockdowns is to create free content and send it out to companies hoping they could refer me to someone.

    So I’ve shot both systems extensively, and must say I like both for different reasons. I just went back to Fuji for ergonomics and the glass and color science. However, when I shot in a dimly lit church this past Sunday, I missed my Sony a7iii. The Sony is better at getting the job done, but Fuji is more fun to shoot. Sony wins in low light and even sharpness in certain situations. So, Fuji for now, since I sold all Sony stuff...

    Looooved this video! Just Got my own Fujifilm X-T3 and this video is part of the reason. I actually did a video with my first impression of the camera, and I gotta day, I was surprised. I’ve used canon my whole photography life, but it’s always felt like the shoe didn’t quite fit right with me. The style and feeling of canon just wasn’t my cup of tea. Now the shoe finally fits and I feel more motivated than ever, with my Fuji xt3.

Many people said the disadvantages of fuji like the iso is darker and has more noises on a higher iso, only has a few third parties lens companies, and a bit overpriced fast lenses. Maybe I should have researched more about the advantages of fuji camera besides what people always said about the shooting experiences and the dial control. Yeah I think fuji cameras are good too, I hope they will put an ibis on the next x-t lines, especially on the small one the x-txx series. :)

    Anyone noticed how differently people react to some cameras? When I carried a silver Nikon FE around, everyone loved it and wanted to have their photo taken. Not so much with a big DSLR. Silver X-T3 looks like it could have that kind of calming effect :D Or the PEN F, for that matter.

      I think it has to do with trends and times. Now in days it seems especially with the 'social media generation' most of the young feel only inclined to Nikon and Sony model cameras. The older, grown and more experienced photographers will be using the likes of Canon, Fujifilm and Panasonic. And you can always spot a Olympus or two among your travels anywhere but the US.

      @@eddyblanco7210 "more experienced" jeez that's so pompous. Sure I'm a young guy and I shoot Sony, but most young people I see are naive canon shooters. They buy entry level t6s or equivalent, and talk about how pro it is. At best they'll have a 70d. Entry level full frame. They talk how much better their camera is despite Sony's superior low light, superior video, superior dynamic range, better frame rate in burst etc. Beyond that, the older folks in my area shoot with a very outdated style and their photos all look very bland. Just because someone is "more experienced" doesn't mean they're better. Especially if they buy the wrong equipment for the job in sake of brand loyalty. If I was a videographer full time I'd have an xt3 or bmpcc4k. If I was a higher level shooter is use a medium format Fuji. But I would never buy an 70d and try to shoot sports with it (people actually tried to do that in my town).

    Thanks very much. You have said it all. In my view, it all boils down to ergonomics, personal tastes, and infrastructure. If you cannot shoot outstanding photos and video with either camera, there is something wrong with the photographer not the camera system. I also appreciate your approach to the review. My personal preference is toward the Fuji, simply because I started photography with a Nikon F Photomic and a Nikkormat, and really appreciate the manual dials for adjusting things. No messing around with menus, button placements, which button does what, etc. etc. Keep the reviews coming!!

      if you just into photography, fuji is definitely great camera. but once you start doing photo and video both and need to change it in matter a second. fuji camera is a pain. from manual mode into video i need to change the shutter to adjust to frame rate and then iso and aperture. Done with that, if i want to do slow mo, i need to change again the SS to adjust to frame rate. If i want back to photo again, i need to adjust all of that again. Its so much pain. and then i realised why sony camera is so easy to use because they have dedicated Custom Dial. with just 1 rotate you are done.

    In the long run; It is all in the preference of the one using the camera. Not which camera is 'Better' as no camera is really better as to which one fits your needs based on what you are photographing. In my long 20+ years tenure with Canon from 35mm film photography to digital, I did go fujifilm in the end for mirrorless format. I have gone from full frame back down to crop, but nothing much has changed. I have used Nikon, Sony, Panasonic and Olympus models and again; It is more towards the person/artist using the camera and which feels more comfortable with them. I am just used to manual settings and dials so the X-T3 got my vote there. The ergonomics and size difference between both the A7III & the X-T3, the Sony is terribly small in my hands and I don't necessarily have a big grip. Plus, Fujifilm incorporated it's film stock into the camera's technology so that's a throwback to my early days. I get the best of both worlds and tacked on a additional point for me. But again; That is me and why I choose Fujifilm over Sony. Maybe for the next photographer, they will be looking for the opposite to which the Sony will be the better choice for them. Maybe even a Nikon Z6 or Pasasonic Lumix GH5.....

    Fuji I LOVE your flip SCREEN concept! They have in my opinion the best flip screen arrangement on the marked. Makes high/low photo a breeze compared to the Panny/Oly/Canon idea where you have to flip it all the way out before rotating etc which makes you miss the moment. 100% cudos to Fuji here. This vlogging-thingy is just for a few users compared to the large amount of photographers out there.

They quoted $495 for repairs which I refused as new Camera is on sale for $799 with 1 yr warranty. I took it to local shop but Fuji has refused to sale the part and want to keep the monopoly and making it mandatory to repair it from for exorbitant cost. I emailed and had a call but did not get any response. If you go by other cameras like Nikon and Fuji they can be locally repaired. I will suggest to future Fuji buyers to think on this aspect because you not only buy Camera but lenses and accessories which is very costly to switch to other gears if Fuji screws customer for repairs.

The Sony 24-240mm lens f3.5-6.3 is an amazing lens and surprisingly sharp and sells for a reasonable price. I have a question that you might be able to help me with - Will the Fuji shoot video with minimal camera shake if it's lens is stabilized - such as the kit 18-55 lens? Is it comparable to the Sony?
    I'm currently a A7III owner (24-105 F4 lens) but the wife and I are finding it too large for it's primary usage - spontaneous 4k video and stills of our kids. We were very interested in the Fuji XT3 because of the price and look, but shied away because it lacked IBIS. We will mostly be shooting handheld - no gimbal (we're already a bit embarrassed by it's current size and don't wish to add more equipment walking around our neighborhood). It is a shame that the X-T3 doesn't have IBIS (and that the a7 III doesn't have a higher bitrate video codec and that it doesn't have 10-bit video nor 4K 60fps). In this comparison you had a very short clip with the X-T3 on a Crane 2 Gimbal and it looked a little bumpy to me. Have you had a chance to use the X-T3 on a gimbal more since you recorded the video? Do you think on a gimbal the X-T3 video is as smooth as a6500 or a7 III??? Or do you think that with IBIS the a6500 and a7 III are a little smoother even when using on a gimbal?

    Have you tried a running gimbal test with the XT3 and 16-55? That's probably the most practical heavy set up I'd go but I'm concerned about the stability or lack thereof. The price difference between a7iii tamron 28-75 combo and xt3 16-55 combo isn't enough to cover upgrading my smaller gimbal to a ronin s or moza air 2

      If you have the money, I would try the A7ii. Sony makes a great camera and being able to switch out lens makes a big difference. I do enjoy a Fuji X100f but I will probably be selling it. It's a great camera. I take it with me on family stuff where I just want jpeg and maybe shoot some RAW if I need to, but limited to the lens. If you like the a7ii, you will absolutely love the A7iii. I have the A7iii and Fuji X100f and the XT20. I use the Sony when I shoot mostly RAW and if I'm doing fun stuff I use the X100f or the XT20 and shoot in RAW/JPEG.

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dkairouks G85 is half the price though. In comparison with the G9 and dual IS (IBIS and lens IS) there is a huge difference and it will compensate for much more than 2 stops. The difference between X-T3 sensor and G9 / GH5 sensor is far from 2 stops below ISO 6400 if you take into account that Fuji produces 2/3 of a stop darker images at given ISO. I will make a video about that soon.

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      As I have said, the comparison with G85 is not very relevant because of the price difference, so I was not commenting on that. I'm not talking about metering either. If shoot for example at ISO 800, 1/50s and F2.8 on both Panasonic and Fujifilm, Fujifilm shot will be about 2/3 thirds stop darker, as shown in the video. So comparing ISO 3200 on Panasonic and Fujifilm is actually not apples to apples comparison. You need to use ISO 5000 instead of 3200 on Fuji to get the same exposure.

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dkairouks As I have said, this has nothing to do with metering. Fuji sensor is just less sensitive at given ISO in comparison to other manufacturers, that is all. Two shots of living room are more than enough to show that, it is very simple and It is well know fact, take a look other comparisons. I'm happy with my testing process, so I don't intend to reevaluate that.

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dkairouks I agree that Fujifilm X-T3 make great photos, but that is not what we were discussing. Metering is very important, but as I have said it has nothing to do with the topic.
      Both shots at 2:34 were shot using manual mode, so metering was not used at all. Settings on both Sony and Fuji are same, but Fuji shot is about 2/3 of a stop darker and it is the same when you compare it to Panasonic or Canon. That happens in every scene if you use same ISO, shutter speed and aperture, so one shot of a living room is indeed enough to showcase that.

    I’ve been working with the g85 for about a year and I really like it but I am now looking to get into a system that is a better all around video/photos/time lapses/ night time lapses.... I have considered the gh5 but I just feel like the m4/3 sensor is really lacking in the photo department. I don’t have a ton of lenses and would rather switch things completely up before I get to far into LUMIX system. If you had to chose between these 2 systems all around what would you recommend? From Photography change to video, i need to change all the settings (Shutter speed, ISO, Aperture, etc). And then from Video to slow mo, i need to adjust again the SS to correct it with frame rate. and then if i want to suddenly change again to photography, i need to change all of the settings again.

    Excellent comparison, sir! I have a question...I have zero experience with Sony, and have been a Fujifilm-X shooter for about 8 years, first with an X-Pro1. My main interest is obtaining the sharpest, most detail-rich images as possible, given the constraints of time and funds. As a landscape and product STILLS X-T3 shooter (no video), lately I feel like I've gotten the most out of the APS-C format, hence I have been debating on selling my Fuji kit (reluctantly), and moving into FF, specifically the Sony a7Rlll and lenses like the Sony 16-35 f/2.8 GM, Sony FE 55 f/2.8, and the 90mm f/2.8 G Macro . Since I shoot 99% tripod-mounted, neither IBIS nor video interests me. So, my question is, for large print output (around 24"x 36" prints), how much of an improvement in terms of image sharpness, detail rendition, dynamic range, base ISO performance, etc., would I see over the already excellent X-T3 (combined with the ultra-sharp Fujinon XF80mm f/2.8 Macro lens), when using the a7Rlll and the Sony 90mm f/2.8 G Macro or Sony 16-35 f/4 tripod-mounted? I have both. I find the images overall on the Sony than better. The camera is faster and my Tamron 28-75 is pretty much glued to my camera. Having said that, Fuji does have some very nice ans affordable glass and it's more fun to use. Also the external dials make operating it faster as well.

THANK YOU! i will consult adorama tomorrow and some friends to figure it out! Am I missing too much without full frame? If not.. i think the Fuji might be perfect and I can keep the camera that arrived today!!!! THANK YOU!

      I actually was going through almost the same thing this week but between the a7ii and the fuji xt30. I felt like not getting a full frame sensor would eventually become an issue, but the more I have looked into it the more confident I am in purchasing the fuji xt30 instead. If you want a great comparison check out Andy Mumford's videos on it. He is a professional photographer that uses the xt3 and xt30

    Shockingly poor battery-life and lack of image stabilization on the X-T3 are a deal-breaker.
    Rolling-shutter (jello) and only 8bit internal on the A7 III are a deal-breaker.
    These camera companies are dicking us around. Do you notice how every camera always has a few glaring deficiences so that we're all still in the lurch no matter which one we go with.

    Hi . Bro pl suggest me which should i buy fuji xt30 vs sony a6400
    My priority is completing with a 6400but my biggest priority is the image should be very beautiful. Just like if we click a pic from iPhoneit is very short per and very attractive as compared to the other normal phone.
    Similarly I just wanted to know that is a pic click by Fuji camera is lot better than the sony 6400 or is it the same, just a minor difference .
    If the difference is big then I would consider Fuji and if the difference is just a lil, fuji image is bit slightly better but not so much difference ,then I would go for soniye 6400.
    On TH-cam Fuji has created a lot of hype of their colour presets .
    Pl suggest
    Ps. I dont wont to go in post processing work as i am a fresher and dont have lot of knowledge of post processing.

    And one more question for you: How does the 1080p at 30fps and 60fps of the X-T3 compare to the same 1080p of the a7 III? I know you said at 120fps the 1080p of the a7 III is better than the 1080p of the X-T3. But did you get to test them together at 30fps and 60fps (or 25fps and 50fps)?

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honestly I didn't test that since I only shoot 4K. Sony has pretty good 1080p but you need to sharpen it a bit in post, because Sony is very conservative with sharpening. According to reviews Fuji has very good 1080p quality as well.

    I'm using Sony A7R3. I have some issues you're not talking about. All is very positive matter but... 1. Menu system is terrible, messy and difficult to use in professional condition. 2. The rolling wheel is a nightmare getting into the sound volume setting when turning. 3. Delay to give the hand back for shooting after review is very bad when need quick reaction. 4. Cleaning of the sensor is a very often duty due probably to some grease coming from the mechanism. But some qualities are real improvements as the battery life and the quality of images. But a little bit "clinic feeling" compare to Canon for instance who give more shallows and warmness that I love to see on my black and white images. For that reason I kept my lenses gear in Canon EF Mount with Sigma Art series including Sigma lens adaptor. Unfortunately autofocus is not fast and reliable with some of my Canon Lenses as for instance the L135mm 2.0.

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have talked about the menu system. You can add level to the Fn menu, which works great. I much prefer accurate Sony colors over warm unrealistic Canon colors that might be more appealing to general public, so that is a matter of preference. A7 III also has a bit improved color science over A7R III.

    • @bernaro
      @bernaro 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheHybridShooter Thanks. But anyway Fn menu is not enough to compensate some incomprehensible terms used and the stupid sort and submenu of items. Also some undesired and unexpected changed in parameters never append to me with Canon and is directly linked to ergonomic. You said that 7A3 is better color science than A7R3. Sorry to say that it should be updated. But really, Canon is more neutral but who really care when using programs to change everything with post prod programs. (I'm using Capture One). Also a lot of gamma are possible with the Sony for vidéo and steadies. The quality of image I was talking about is in the way to manage light, principally in low iso that is more close to analog films on Canon even the old 5dII. Sony is a cold clinic camera. Just important to know it.

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bernaro Canon is absolutely not neutral, that is just a fact, it has the most unrealistic colors, you can take a look at the testing charts. It may be a matter of preference but in terms of the image quality, dynamic range, colors and everything else, Sony is must much better than Canon in every way IMO.
