    I installed the one with sequential turn signals. Tapped into fog and drl fuses and it stayed on even with the car off. Easiest way was just tapping the positive wire into the drl wire positive and using electrical tape to hold it after twisting them together. (Black wire DRL using gray wire for the 10th gen Honda Si models)

    why did you choose to use the 7.5Amp Fuse? I looked at the spec of the light through the link above, and my calculation shows that I can just hook it up to a 3Amp fuse? The total power used for the light is P = 10W/m. Assuming it's 150 cm = 1.5m, then total power will be used by the light is 10W/m x 1.5m = 15 W. Given that the voltage is 12V and P = I x V, then current (i) = P / V = 15W / 12V = 1.25 Amp. Can you please help to explain why are you choosing to use the 7.5 Amp Fuse? Additionally, why do you need to add two 7.5 Amp Fuse to the Fuse Tap? Thanks!!!

    • @BillOfAllTrades2016
      @BillOfAllTrades2016  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I didn’t choose the fuse based on amperage. I chose based on ability to come on when ignition is on and turn off when ignition is turned off. This was the only fuse available under the hood for this car. As for matching the fuse I always just match the fuse amperage I’m tapping into because that’s what the instructions were on the fuse tap I bought. Thanks for watching. Please like and subscribe

      Regardless of the vehicle, you have a few options of DRL, fog lights, headlights, parking lights, ignition or accessory fuse. As for locating those fuses you will have to look at the lid of the fuse box or consult a service manual for your specific vehicle. Thanks for watching. Please like and subscribe

    did you cut the strip? If you cut the strip did it effect the animation? Did you seal the end that you cut? Did the end you cut have the wire connected? what is the length of the strip?

    • @BillOfAllTrades2016
      @BillOfAllTrades2016  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Never cut the light strip. They say you can cut but I always tell people not to. Once it is cut then the startup sequence will be off center and will look terrible. Plus you will be breaking the factory seal. The strip comes in two sizes: 150cm and 180cm. You will need to measure your vehicle to see what size you need then you select the size before you order. And remember the company selling these things don’t know anything about cars. They just sell what is popular on the market and rebrand it just like all the other companies. So their instructions are not always accurate. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching. Please like and subscribe

    • @BillOfAllTrades2016
      @BillOfAllTrades2016  ปีที่แล้ว

      No it is not ok to use multiple taps. That will 100% end up either in a blown fuse or causing a fire. Only ever use one tap per fuse. If you need a lot of fuse taps you might consider installing an auxiliary fuse block in your vehicle to make for easier fuse installs. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching. • @BillOfAllTrades2016

      You can use t-tap wire connectors. I illustrate in this video link how to use a t-tap: th-cam.com/video/1o60yTSZALg/w-d-xo.html
      However these connectors should only be used in fully sealed areas. Corrosion can occur at the split point. It’s better and more durable to use a piggyback fuse. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching. Please like and subscribe

    can you have a lower amp for expample a (5) in a 10 fuse ?

    • @BillOfAllTrades2016
      @BillOfAllTrades2016  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No you cannot. That will blow the fuse. You need to use the equal fuse. Fuses are designed specifically for exact amps. You put a lesser amp fuse and you will constantly be blowing fuses. Put a greater amp fuse and it will not blow when there is an electrical issue and you can cause catastrophic damage and even a fire. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching. Please like and subscribe

      How do you know what the amps are for each fuse?

  • @aliisprince
    @aliisprince 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Hi, could you please tell me if it's mandatory to add 2 fuses on the tap? I see you have two 7.5amps fuses attached to the tap. You have to do it so it won't overload?

    • @BillOfAllTrades2016
      @BillOfAllTrades2016  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello. The reason 2 fuses are used in the piggyback wire is because one fuse powers the original accessory and one powers the added accessory. So in this video we put the fuse into the ignition fuse slot. When you look at the piggyback wire, the fuse closest to the prongs will power the ignition that we tapped into. The fuse on top of that will power the light strip. So in the event that the light strip blows it’s fuse (the top fuse), the ignition will still operate as if nothing happened because it’s still pulling power from the fuse closest to the prongs. I installed a light strip on my equinox and used a piggyback fuse wire that only had one fuse slot. I had it hooked up to my headlights, so if the light strip blew the fuse, I wouldn’t have power to the light strip or my headlights. So it’s best to buy the two fuse piggybacks. Hope the answers your question. Thanks for watching. Please like and subscribe

    I have a stupid question I’m just learning this stuff. How do you know the voltage or whatever of the fuse you’re pairing it to?
    For example let’s say I can pair this to my headlight in fuse box, how do I know the voltage of that so I can use the same fuse plug thing? Thanks for any help

    • @BillOfAllTrades2016
      @BillOfAllTrades2016  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That’s a good question. Fuses are not measured in volts. They are measured in amps. There is a small number on the top of the fuse and that represents the amps. So this car I tapped into a 7.5 amp fuse so I just matched the fuse with a Luther 7.5 amp. On the Chevy that I installed the light on I saw you comment there as well, I tapped into a 15 amp so I matched it with a 15 amp. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching. Please like and subscribe

    • @UsernameOG0

      @@BillOfAllTrades2016 I have a question, so the lights I purchased say they are 12 volts. I see my “DRL,” which I’m guessing is “daytime running lights,” is 7.5 amps. Other things are different amps, does it matter how many volts something is going into the amps of a fuse?

    • @BillOfAllTrades2016
      @BillOfAllTrades2016  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The 12 volts is simply referring to the power supply which is your 12 volt battery. It has no relation to the amp of the fuse. 7.5 is plenty good to hook up. On the Honda in this video I used the 7.5 amp ignition fuse and all is well

    • @UsernameOG0
      @UsernameOG0 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@BillOfAllTrades2016 I saw another video recommending to hook a smaller piggyback fuse into a larger OEM fuse to reduce stress, instead of using 7.5 onto OEM 7.5. I believe relaying the larger for example 10 amp fuse first, and then my aftermarket 7.5 (goodnight) fuse. Also using a volt meter to determine which side of fuse is the actual power supply.
      Does this sound correct to you, thanks so much for answering

    • @BillOfAllTrades2016
      @BillOfAllTrades2016  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes that is correct as well only if you need two different amperage fuses. Both my method and the one you mentioned work equally. Using a circuit tester pen or voltmeter will indeed indicate the direct power supply. That’s where your higher amperage fuse goes. I personally always just matched the fuses to reduce the chance of mixing it up backwards lol.

      Just found the info you are looking for. The light strip draws 10w per minute. Not sure how that translates to amps but I hope it helps you. I plugged this one into a 7.5 amp fuse and there have been no issues yet. Thanks for watching. Please like and subscribe

    • @desi579
      @desi579 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @BillOfAllTrades2016 Yes, it does. Thank you. I'll explain. Power ÷ voltage = amperage of fuse. So if it's 10w ÷ 12 volts from car battery = 0.388 amp. That's low. So I guess a 5amp fuse would suffice. 👍 I think that's the lowest I've seen. But I have to check my rude again.

    • @BillOfAllTrades2016
      @BillOfAllTrades2016  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ok. Wow that is a low amperage. I know when it arrived in the mail I was too lazy to go out to my car to test it on the car battery so I tested it with a 9v battery like what you would find in a smoke detector and it worked lol.

      Installing it above the grill would interfere with the weather strip seal on this particular vehicle. These are universal so they can be installed on the hood or on the grill. My Chevy is mounted on the grill because the weather seal is on the hood. When installing the wires simply open the hood as far as it will go to see how long you need then add 2 inches spare and you won’t have an issue. Thanks for watching
