The guys wanted to be the first punk band on the show and BA ended up having to work and Roadkill didn't want to get out of bed. So, Steve did grab buddies from the record store where he worked and him and the other dude switched instruments just to be ridiculous. He said he was Glen Danzig because he knew no one from the audience would know who Danzig was. Mystery solved!
kitty smol bean Well, I mean... Anyone who thinks that's Glenn Danzig despite this being 1989 when Glenn was clearly in his 30s and looked like Conan, well... they're drunk.
646 My highschool sweetheart bought and sent me a Sloppy Seconds album 16 years after our debacle (while I was in the United States Army 14S) Rebecca Jean, I will always love and respect you. Punk Rock and Invalid Blues
It was done that way because it's fake. They played a studio track and pretend that the band was performing. So the band made a mockery of it. Decided to switch the members. To let everybody know that they weren't going to go along with the pretense. I totally dig that I like it when punk bands do that. We seen this numerous times in the past. Punk rock
I love at the beginning of the song how the music starts too low and they have to turn up the volume on the jambox. Everything goes wrong in this video it's perfect
This seems to be a case of the band being forced to mime to a pre-recorded track (they're obviously not playing live). Though Sloppy Seconds had some fun with it, as no one is in their proper place; the singer and guitarist aren't from the band, and the drummer and bassist switched roles! Well played, gents.
Fuck yes. If you want to feel my sweet Midwest, watch this; if you wanna' cry about it, listen to "Black Roses". SLOPPY SECONDS put out a record called "Destroyed" which is the best record ever released in the Midwest. I love MC5, Stooges, Gizmos, Z Boys, but I don't care about that. When you use the word "turd" on your big record, you win.
@Afeckt Not Bobby Steele. They are lip syncing the album cut. It's B.A. on vocals. Someone on an earlier post said it could have been a guy by the name of Scotty Turns, but i don't know for sure.
Indys Best!!From New Castle myself and use to go see Sloppy at The Ritz and The Emerson in the late 80's.Always...ALWAYS a great damn show!!! "I really must be going now, you've been to kind for words.Your toilets overflowing, cause it's clogged up with our turds...."
My guess is Bobby Steele (look him up on wikipedia) .Looks kinda like him. And he used to be in the Misfits before Doyle joined. They probably just said Glen Danzig as a joke.
I know B.A. I have him booked for a show at my venue in March. I'll email him now and ask him what's up with this crazy line up and we'll get it settled once and for all.
That's not BA taking away the drum kit? This is an awesome, awesome joke for true Sloppy Seconds fans! A "don't pay attention to the mind behind the curtain" sort of thing! Who wouldn't want Glen Danzig fronting their band on public access! ?! LOL
@dgenerated Well, it actually is the drummer and bass player for Sloppy Seconds. For some reason Danny Thompson couldn't make the show and i am not sure who or why the singer is different. That is why i asked for help with info on this video. Didn't mean to offend anyone. Just thought this video should be out there.
most def not B.A. playing bass. it's funny though, Steve plays drums now, and Boba (who's seen drumming) plays bass lol. i'm guessing this is just after they lost dr. roadkill on guitar, but before they enlisted Ace Hardware. really not sure why B.A. wasn't present for this appearance, but thanks for sharing it!!
@Rodney17302 Believe it or not, B.A. wasn't always a large man. When this video aired, he was not overweight at all. So your guess was wrong. I'm not really sure why B.A. didn't appear in this clip, but i am sure that it wasn't because of his weight. Also, that is why i posted this clip. Many people did not know who Sloppy Seconds was when this clip was aired. You are probable right that less than 200 saw this performance live, though. One out of two guesses ain't bad.
@howiefbr dude i'm pretty sure this video is supposed to be obvious that it's not them. they call the lead singer glen danzig... and their insturments weren't even plugged in. pretty sure it was supposed to be a joke.
You realize they are lip synching, right, genius? You see any fucking amplifiers? The question is, how fucking old are you and how can you be so ignorant of facts?
wonder why my comment disappeared ...I don't remember deleting it ??? ...still think that looks like scotty turns... from the pix he used to send me when we were sorta pen pals/cd mix swappers... sadly the cd mixes he made for me were stolen ...oh well
@@pyramidprograms Rad! Hope he is doing well. I still have a Ramones T-Shirt he sent me. I found a list of what was on one of the CD mixes he made for me. He was a cool dude. 👍
@@axehound3718 no definitely not Danzig. This whole little thing is super amusing with BA and Danny Roadkill not being there at all and Steve and Boba switching instruments. Saying he was Danzig just made it all the funnier. Well played Sloppy Seconds!
@ranndy101 Believe it or not, some people are self conscious about their weight. Even though he might be comfortable performing live (because most people know what to expect) he might not be comfortable performing on tv... even though I doubt more than 200 people saw this when it aired.
@Rodney17302 its probably just being done in the same style as "top of the pops" was for UK punk bands. where they werent allowed to actually play and had to lip sync. so bands started making it totally obvious that they were NOT playing and turning it more into a comedy showcase.
Definitely not Danzig, could be Bobby Steele though, maybe around the same time they did Where Eagles Dare? I wish they would re-release their Nitro stuff on vinyl. And put another record out soon!

Fun fact: the reason Roadkill didn’t want to get out of bed was because BA couldn’t go. True friendship :P
Holy shit! I just saw this video and had so many questions! Thank you!!

Love this band!!!! My band, Monster Soup used to tour with them in the early 90's. We used to play Come Back Traci as a set closer.
That’s awesome!!

Killed it in Cincinnati. Been awhile. Don't sleep on this.
@vapido lol, like the Dead Milkmen on Club Mtv... good stuff, impossible to find the video though.

i miss cable access television
can def see where you're coming from though finncade. young B.A. and Steve Sloppy did resemble one another quite a bit during that era :)
Love this
R.I.P. Scott Turns - we miss you, man.
Where’s Danny “Dr. Roadkill” Thompson? His super-fat image was their trademark
this is awesome!!

@Rodney17302
I'm 320 pounds and i love being on TV. Why would a person's weight discourage him or her from being on TV?
R.I.P. Scott
The "singer" in this video is Bobby Steele who played in Misfits and also with Sloppy Seconds for a little while.
not Bobby....
Dan Pantzig! the band in this video isn't real. the singer in this video is my uncle Scott.
Scott Turns. Yep. My high school sweetheart! If you him that Selena said 'hi' he might get really mad! Watch out!
todal poozer uh?
@howiefbr Tell BA hello. I kind of know him from the 20+ shows i've attended and talking to him after a Colts game.
At around 2:29 you can see B.A. behind the Mustaine-alike.
as soon as I heard the voice I knew they were pulling a Milly.lol!
WOW!
fucking awesome. thanks
This kind of seems like that video of Agnostic Front playing Victim In Pain. ridiculously and year, seems like it.

Is the singer Glen danzig? But really is the guitarist is dave mustaine?!

I know BA the real singer haha I'll ask him what's up with this video

lolz cute but the lead does not look anything like glenn
Because he’s not
it looks like bobby steele more than glenn
@midnightaria I thought that was Scotty turns but i dont think that is him singing he has to much of a girl voice to sing like ba
Apparently they were miming to the track.

lmao their all playing different roles
Their not playing the right instruments
Lmao this is playback...so not like them probably in the shows regulations
This is not sloppy seconds way to skinny!!
lol, lip synching at its finest... I'm guessing the lead singer didn't want to be on tv... seeing as he's like 300lbs.
