- After competing at a local Splatoon 3 LAN tournament, I realized if I want to achieve my goal of Top 500, I need to take this game WAY more seriously. That means major gear upgrades and picking up some new weapons to use in different anarchy modes...

Jay was actually doing _really_ well in this video, if he continues at this rate he might actually make it to Top 500. It's crazy how much better being flexible and able to change weapons for different situations can make you
I'm very proud of how Jay is branching off the Nautilus and trying new things. Not that him playing Nautilus was bad but if there's anything I've learned from Splatoon it's that being a flexible player is what makes you a good player.
13:51 A tip for this situation: If you're the last person left and you have the Rainmaker, you're going to die anyway (unless you're in a stalling spot that you can just spam Rainmaker shots from or something). So at that point your best move would be just pushing up as far as possible, so the enemy team will have farther to go when they counterpush.
And with how quickly a team can score points in this mode, that little bit of extra time the enemy team has to take pushing the Rainmaker can easily mean the difference between winning and losing the game.

I’ve had a hand injury that’s made it difficult and frustrating for me to play ranked but Jay truly inspires me to to keep grinding and getting through it. Gotta remember to keep the right mindset so I can have fun instead of feeling frustrated 👍✨
Just remember that your health is more important than playing more Splatoon, if your hand starts to hurt you should absolutely take a break from playing.

As someone who’s currently Top 500 in Tower Control for this season, I can tell Jay’s gameplay has improved a lot and has the potential to get up there!

Since you're tring to improve, I feel like some criticism would be helpful, so I noticed that you tend to play for special a lot, but, when you barely have any charge, it's best for a weapon like ttek to just push and try to get a pick or two. If you just farm special, you aren't playing into the strengths of your weapon; you're just lobbing strikes. Also, you tend to retreat and paint behind you, but if you paint in an area that would help your team move while restricting the enemy team's movement, you can have a larger impact on the game. Good luck on the road to top 500! :D
alterntively, the solution might be to continue playing this playstyle but with a weapon like an nzap that plays very similarly except it really wants to play around its special at all times

Jokes aside, your grind to top 500 has been a huge inspiration for me to improve and start playing competitively.

Genuinely proud to see Jay actually starting to learn the game in real time and not be as stubborn, resulting in success being much more common. I personally felt like that's how I've been with the game recently as well, and gotta say I actually enjoy the game a whole lot more because of it

About that range blaster build I might give some tips. You don't need run speed, you don't want to hold ZR and shoot around with range blaster, you want to go into squid form and move around between shots (or jump, depending on the case). Only jump when you are going for indirect shots at longer distances and if you are going for clutch direct shots DO NOT jump at all. Blasters don't have great object damage and Object Shredder doesn't help it much, it's not worth it over stealth jump considering how aggressive most blasters are. I run Comeback to make up for it's ink efficiency issues and Quick Respawn to be as aggressive and annoying as possible. I run only 2 subs of Intensify Action since I don't want to jump if I want to hit direct shots anyways, but you can get rid of Comeback for more intensify if you want, just make sure you run a sub of ink saver main and ink recovery up to make up for the lack of Comeback.
Personally I run a main + sub of ia if u want to have better rng while jumping

Clothing: Witch Female outfit, Marina Clothing, School girl outfit, Black Graveyard, Chaos Outfit
Shoes: Schoolgirl (long one), Marina Shoes, Black Pearl Onyx, Black Punk Boots, Chaos Boots
Overall... I'm just going to keep making more till I reach 10 (Each one). Then I'm going to Speed, Run Speed, And Ink Saver Main

I consider myself an Inkbrush main, but I pick different weapons based on the mode.
Turf War: Inkbrush
Splat Zones: Aerospray
Tower Control: Clash Blaster
Rainmaker: N-Zap
(I haven’t played Clam Blitz before, but I’ve heard the Inkbrush is good for that, too.)
The brushes are pretty common in clam blitz. You should give it a try as it’s pretty fun imo but most people don’t like it. I’d say to avoid mincemeat and hagglefish as they’re really hard to get close to the basket unless you have a good comp. Those are my least fav maps out of what I played for clams

Jay i know this is not a good video to say this but if you know the range og all chargers and splatlings you can keep a way from them and if a hydra if firing find a path around it because its looking is slowed a lots. When tracked play decoy BTW love the vids

I still dont know why they havent added the nautilus 79 yet. They changed almost nothing except for the special about the nautilus 47. Almost a year and we still dont have the inkjet nautilus that everyone wants. At least the ballpoint has inkjet. The only problem with the nautilus 47 we have now is its kit. Something i still wonder is if we are even going to get inkejet on the 79 or the nautilus 79 at all. All anyone can do is hope

I'm not trying to backseat game, but, back and mid-line weapons are fairly good for mahi rainmaker and TC since it's so cramped.
But using a frontliner like the TTek is good for mobility and avoiding said backlines.
So I guess what I'm saying is play whatever you want.

Your gear on naut is meh cause you only have qsj as utility sub and Ink saver Main is not needed at all. 5/10 (Utility subs are too important)
I'd say 5/10 is a bit too harsh, he does have the right idea with stacking tons of swim & run speed.
Although Stealth Jump would definitely be better than object shredder now that Crab and Booyah Bomb are less common, he just has to make sure he uses it. And yeah, adding a sub of Ink Resistance, Special Saver, and/or Sub Resistance would definitely help
