@@miles6552 I haven’t played since the first one but it definitely gets people playing salmon run. In splatoon 2 there weren’t many incentives to play much. I just played until I got the new gear. Now they have proper events to get people playing.

The problem with glowflies mode is that everybody chooses a spot and all the eggs are there but also all the salmonids, so what needs to be done is that the last 20 seconds the one that is the target goes somewhere "safe" and the other 3 are now able to put the eggs in the basket
Seeing this is so reassuring for me because I can now say with 100% confidence that I, as a player with stick controls, am better at salmon run than a competitive splatoon youtuber. If you're curious, my highest score in big run was 171 eggs. Specifically at hazard level max.
I finally placed gold doing only freelance with 162 high score a 630 pay grade and a.highest hazard level of 270% I played for like 12 hours I don't understand how anyone gets to 999 pay grade I probably have the skill to handle hazard level max but I think it would take like 20 hours. My hands start to hurt after playing for like 4.5 hours and I need to eat and stuff.
It is a grind but it can actually be quite fast if you play well enough. It takes 48 games to make it from EVP 40 to EVP 999. From the start of one game to the start of the next one, I find it is usually about 6-7 minutes. Add in the occasional extra wave and it takes about 6 hours or so if you clear every game. While winning every game might seem unrealistic, it isn’t once you get used to the difficulty of Hazard Level Max. You can do it. It isn’t some unrealistic grind. If you can dedicate 12 hours to a Big Run then you have the time to reach 999. I believe in you, random internet person 🙂 The shiny gold badges you get make monkey brain happy.

The average player is nowhere near good enough to handle hazard level max, on some shift rotations people just can't handle the weapons. I could probably do it but outside of big run I usually only play for ~2 hours. I may have gotten the amount of time I played wrong 2 hours of that was actually me playing the New Season Challenge that was happening at the same time but also according to the app I worked 45 jobs even if I accidentally added another 3 hours that still means an average 4 minutes of time that just disappears into matchmaking and cut-scenes. if you are generous and assume that my number of waves cleared remains about the same then it would take another 29 matches if you are also generous and assume that it took me exactly 6 hours to play those 45 matches and it would add another 8 minutes per match then it will still add on an extra ~4 hours bringing it to 10 hours. It feels a lot more like I played for 9 hours. I have played too many shifts for me to properly check when I played each job but doing the math it seems like I only played for ~6 hours. I have no idea why it feels like I played for 3 more hours then what the math says. I could do it but I doubt I would have doing it so I am not going to bother, as Reggie says if it's not fun why bother. I have no need to prove to myself or others that I am good at the game, honestly I can't even remember why I commented in the first place. I guess maybe I wanted people to know that freelance isn't always a terrible experience.

Sorry top 5% was 137 on the first big run. It’s gotten higher on the more recent ones. Nearly impossible to get gold now.

If it helps for future big runs, I’ve found that being at profreshional to 3+ is easier to manage bosses and you can reach the quota more often.
