I’m not so sure about that troubleshooting process because it totally failed me. I was having this problem with my 2000 Pontiac Montana but installing a new bulb, swapping bulbs, or even just cleaning and reseating the bulb with fresh bulb grease would temporarily fix the problem. Of course, three days to a week later I’d get pulled over by the cops for a broken taillight again… and they’re a whole lot less likely to give a warning if you were just warned (luckily I had receipts). My van actually came with a junkyard spare so I switched to that and began having the same issue a month or so later. Sure enough, reseating the bulbs would temporarily fix it, so the issue was clearly with the toasted contacts in the bulb sockets. Scraping and reseating would restore enough of the connection to work a little longer but high resistance connections only make even more heat. I figured LED replacements for the bulbs would be far lower wattage so I switched to those despite being technically for off-road use only (not DOT approved for legal road use). I’m not worried about filament position and reflected beam angles since this is just a brake light and the whole lens lights up like it should. I installed LEDs on both sides and it has been perfect ever since. No need to buy a new circuit board in my case and the troubleshooting in this video would not have confirmed the board was bad anyway (even though it was).
Hello I'm having a problem with my brake lights. My tail lights work but when I press down on the brakes. My signal lights shine bright. Not brakes took it to a shopthey didn't even know what was wrong with it
@ 3:42 "Replace the bulb with a brand new one and then take your vehicle for a road test." ? I don't see how that'll help, because you can't see if the bulb is working correctly from the driver's seat while driving.
A classic case of stupid engineering. What's the good in having that circuit board instead of the regular, simple direct connectors in the 1st place? It's even more eco froendly

Amazing Chevrolet has had this same problem since 1988 . It’s nice to see Chevy is as reliable today as in the past. 😂
