I'm no expert, but if it's making a lot of smoke, it might be burning oil.
    Anyways beauty bike eh.

Of course it's burning oil, it's a 2-stroke and I have premix in the tank.

Ok I am no expert but just restore my 89 rz350 last winter that I bought in boxes. Stop trying to get it just running to ride it. It will have endless problems or worse. It an old bike that needs to be taken apart down to frame and every part looked at. It actually looks in amazing conditions. They're a very good chance crank seals are gone. Brakes will be locked up and every bearing will grease at the very min. The oil pump can not be trusted and will leak air since oil seals are old and let air into oil lines that will lean out motor bad.

What is tank like inside? Is it rusted out. Did you flush it out before. Need inline fuel filter or it will never run right with rust or crap in fuel. Just stop before you do more damage to a great looking bike that will cost you more in the long run to fix.

That is going to happen. This was just a test to see if the old girl would run. I have four more of these to do so I'm just getting started.

It actually good to test all electrical especially the powervalve and ignition parts to know what else needs to be fixed before taking apart. But other knowing it fires it not worth running it. What is bikes history or last time motor been taken apart or how many miles on bike really don’t matter if it sat for 10 years and not run it will need motor taken apart. Brakes need bleeding at the very least but more than likely caliper will be stuck.

The chassis needs a complete restoration. master cylinders are shot, calipers are just as bad. Every bearing and seal needs to be replaced. Today was the first time a battery has been in it in god knows how long. It's a process and this is just step one. I was pleased that all the electrics worked and it fired up. Now the work starts. @@chrispederson4157

@@bradstoybox8811 Took me all winter or 6 month and all my spare time. Was a very fun project with lots of surprises. But bike runs and feels like new now. Some people think that old low miles bikes will just fire up and run like new after 30 years and definitely not the case. It actually better to have high mile bike that has run every year for just a rider.
