Brad's Toy Box
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 12 เม.ย. 2013
This is just a place where I can upload and share videos related to my adventures, both in the shop and having fun with my toys. Content ranges from technical videos that detail vehicles or projects I'm working to my off road and on road experiences. I hope you find the content either entertaining or informative or both!
I should note that I'm no video expert and the black art of video editing currently eludes me so most of the content here is one shot clips taken on my I-phone. The exception is the drone footage which was shot by Tyler at Everide in St George Utah.

Honda Foreman 450 ES “Yes I Bought Another One”!
มุมมอง 721 วันที่ผ่านมา
I spend way too much time on facebook Marketplace! It's like a candy store with more flavours than you can imagine. It was two weeks ago that I spotted this very sad looking Honda Foreman 450 listed for sale. There were few details and the price was maybe just a tad on the high side but something made me inquire. It turned out to be in the custody of the original owner from 2003 but has seen so...
Honda Foreman 450 ES Rear Bearing Failure!
มุมมอง 3621 วันที่ผ่านมา
I was just getting started with changing this LH rear bearing when I thought I should shoot a video. That's right, I don't plan any of this...it's just spur of the moment raw video shot with my trusty I-phone. So it has no point or story or message. Well maybe there is one message that's buy cheap, expect unpleasant surprises and have fun with it.
1999 VFR800 5th Gen Cold Start & Walk Around
มุมมอง 453หลายเดือนก่อน
I shot this video for anyone interested in buying this lovely 1999 Honda VR800 that I'm selling for a friend. I actually helped him find this bike back in 2018 and I did all the work to it to get it ready for safety and to ensure that the maintenance was up to date. Now he has moved on to a different bike and this beauty is looking for a new home.
2016 Civic Bumper Change with Partify!
มุมมอง 4412 หลายเดือนก่อน
I finally got around to replacing my daughter's front and rear bumper covers. The old ones were structurally fine but cosmetically challenged so we bought new replacement parts that come painted from Partify. I've used them before and had a great result with a much lower cost than dealing with the local body shops or going through insurance. Here is a link to Partify; partify.ca/?gad_source=1&g...

2003 Honda Foreman Instrument Cluster swap part 1…..will an ES cluster work on my S model?
มุมมอง 565 หลายเดือนก่อน
I’ve been working on this beater Honda Foreman for a few weeks now, solving transmission issues, spark issues, brake issues, cooling fan issues and now I just want to not be looking at the old ruined instruments! Instrument clusters are hard to come by so when I found this new in the box 2004 model ES cluster for sale locally, I had to jump on it and see if I could adapt it to work on my old dog.

Did you do a video removing the original propeller shaft and installing rebuilt prop shaft?
No I didn't. It's pretty straight forward, just nuts and bolts.
Your bike is gorgeous
Thanks, it went to a new home in Quebec City a few weeks ago. The new owner is thrilled.
I have a 2001 with 73,000. Yoshimura exhaust. Mint runs perfect. ABM straight bar, givi windscreen with xtra on top. I can cruise triple digits comfortably for hours, if I can get away with it. I'm 66 do all my own maintenance . As long as I can get on keep riding. 520 conversion chain 2 up rear sprocket more torque really helps.
Don’t give up the day job pal , he he greetings from London
That's a Great Walk!
Did an engine swap in my 2015 Acura mdx sh-awd and now after I got it back together the transmission is grinding when going into park and makes a clunking sound when I put it in gear… any clew on what that could be brad??
Oh man, sorry to hear that! I would verify the shifter cable adjustment to make sure that it moving properly and fully selecting the gear you ask for. Not really sure where to go if that doesn't work. The motor swap really shouldn't impact the internal workings of the transmission. It's worth noting that the selector does get corroded and needs occasional lubrication so if it sat a long time, this could be part of the issue.
Would you say the paint match you were pleased?
It is off a tad and I don't know if you will ever get a perfect match on an 8 year old car vs a new bumper. Overall, the car looks really nice and most importantly, my daughter is happy.
First of all, thank you for your attention and availability. I'm very undecided! In your opinion, would the Termignoni system be your first option??? thanks
If money was no object I would go with the Titanium Termi system with upmap.
Hello i’ve the same problem! I already removed catalyzer but the performance was very very poor and the sound was extremely loud. Right now i’m thinking buy arrow indy race with a middle pipe but I’m afraid about the performance because i not comfortable to do a remap I always thinking to hurt my bike. Or to buy full termignoni with race map? Can you help thanks
The full Termi system with map from Ducati is a fantastic system but it comes at a steep price. If you can afford it...do it. The other options will require tuning to run well. I installed a Rapid Bike tuner that worked very well (plug and play) but it didn't compensate for the lean condition at idle and below 2500 RPM so I have to make adjustments to the map myself to richen the mixture in these areas. One I did that It was awesome.
FYI... Staintune has gone out of business 😢
Yes sadly they are gone. They made a really nice product!
I've got a 2000 vfr800 gen5. It doesn't have the 'manual choke'. I think Honda dropped it after 1999. Great bikes. The gear driven cams are the best
Beautiful
With the price of gas these days, I don't know of any comparable bikes out there that get such incredible gas mileage. Mine (a 1995 750) gets 47 mpg, and that's not riding around like I just learned how to ride a bike either.
That is pretty impressive! I can't say that I have ever owned one for the purposes of fuel economy but they are generally decent.
I've been looking to buy one of these 800 cc VFR's forever, but a guy just a few miles away had a 95' 750 for sale which he had dropped the price from $4k down to $2k. I offered him $1,500.00 and he took it. I didn't think he'd go for it because the bike had only 47k miles on it and was in almost mint condition. I ride this bike almost everyday. I've got a Yamaha cruiser, but this bike is more comfortable. It's probably the most comfortable bike I've ever owned. I checked out a few of the VFR chat groups online and found people who claimed they put over 150k miles without adjusting the valves. I didn't believe it at first, but now I'm starting to believe it. These bikes are perfect for touring. Lots of guys put saddle bags and a trunk on the back. They're perfect for the older rider who isn't looking for horrifically fast acceleration. It's still plenty fast and lots of torque. It's probably the best handling bike I've ever ridden as well, and for the price, you can't beat the sound.
Well done! The market is tough these days but there are still deals to be had if you watch and approach your negotiation respectfully.
@@bradstoybox8811 Maybe things are different in other states, but here in Florida, they're giving bikes away for next to nothing. My neighbor bought a mint condition Yamaha from the local used bike shop for $2k. We were talking to them and they said it's a buyer's market. There's a glut of bikes for sale. I thought I got a good deal on my Yamaha ($4,500), but two years later, the same bikes are going for $2,500 - 3,500 with less miles and in better condition. Another buddy of mine is like a kid in a candy store. He's bought five bikes in the last two years. Same story for boats, cars, and trucks. The only thing that is high priced and still climbing is real estate and steak.
I got my gen 5 at $4000 Australian dollars. Which is about $2600 USD. The thing hasn't missed a beat. Incredible.
Wow u lucky 🍀 guy man that’s a real bargain, keep her forever and stay safe
@@BrendanSmith-u7c I am absolutely planning on keeping this bike for the rest of my life. It handles and sounds fantastic and gets 47 mpg. It costs me $20.00 a year to insure it as well. This bike would be a great deal at double what I paid for it. I'm even thinking about getting another one, maybe a blue or gray one.
Just bought 2011 MDX and when speed reaches 120/ hr the vibration starts. You mentioned a shop in Ottawa do you’ve addresses or phone number? Since I live in Toronto do you know anyone who could do the same job thank you
This is where I had it done. They also did my 86 4runner driveshaft work. www.ottawa-driveshaft-steering.com/
Beautiful 5th gen.Well done
Thank you Ian! It went to a new home in Quebec last weekend.
Did you do CAPA or Non-CAPA?
As someone who used to run a body shop, I would suggest 100% of the time, to order capa if you're not buying oem. The price difference is minimal, usually, for the amount of aggravation and time you will save.
Thank you so much for this insight. I’m definitely buying CAPA. Greatly appreciated!
Thank you man that's about a lot cuz it was going to cost me to get my right side fender for a 2014 Honda CRV to be fixed and it was going to be $1,900 and I'm going to check them out and I'm going to get the fender through them and I appreciate you making this video it help out a lot so this is going to help me save a lot of money because they're trying to charge me at this body shop $900 for the right fender
I hope you find what you need and get that car lookin good again at a reasonable price!
Hi thank you for you nice review. We appreciate it. 🙏 🎉
My pleasure!
Our 2010 does the same, while passing it vibrates, thanks for posting, i was about to start throwing parts at it, fyi, you're lucky to have a shop that'll replace that U-joint near you, no such animal here
I hope you don't get "shafted" while shopping for a replacement! Good luck!
Beautiful horses brother
Thank you!
Video liked 👍. I saw your other video too. I believe the motor you got is the J37A4 because if you got it from Japan then it would be from their version of the RL which is the Honda Legend. Wikipedia states the Legend has the J37A4. Do you know if the Japanese 3.7 J37 engines have the oil burning issue? Or does your swapped motor burn oil? Please let me know, I'm interested in doing this too for my RL.
I sold the vehicle shortly after the video so I can't comment on how it has held up. I was tired of the fuel consumption and requirement for premium fuel so I got a sweet 2013 Accord with a J35 and a 6 speed manual.
@@bradstoybox8811 thanks for getting back to me. Oh yeah, you did mention that in the video! I think these motors are made in the U.S. and then imported to Japan. Nice SQ5 by the way, I have S5 myself, same era pre refresh 😁
Why did the original engine fail??
It was burning oil really bad and then it suffered a piston failure that put a huge crater in the cylinder wall. It could have been detonation because it was pinging something aweful as well.
Nicely done Brad! 😊, Mark
Wash them
They do love the occasional bath but then they go out in the pasture and roll in the dirt! LOL
I don't any horse but I love them
Thanks for the comment Melissa. I will do my best to post some more entertaining moments with our big dogs.
Cute❤
Great info, I have some small damage on my bumper too. I’ll check them out!
Great Info!
Know it’s been some time, but did the replacement motor cause any codes when vtec was engage?
No I had no codes at all
Good idea. I haul them on a pallet.
That's a good idea too
Did you change the oil
Does the mdx have a transmission cooler?
Nice to see RL 3.5L V6 engine going into the MDX giving it a new life.
Thanks and yes, the MDX is an awesome SUV and deserved a better engine than the 3.7.
Greetings! I have a 1500lb cherry picker. Would that be enough to lift the engine? Thanks in advance!
Yes a 1500 pound engine hoist should have no problem lifting this V6 engine.
@@bradstoybox8811 Thank you!
It so sad😢 to see all those all those Honda engines in there. When they used to go to fine Elegant Acura’s and High Trim level Honda’s. At least there given new life. But still.
Yes it was a strange and almost surreal place. The level of disrespect they treated them with was shocking. The fella assigned to assist me was hopeless as he attempted to separate the transmission from the engine. I had to step in and assist to protect my motor before he broke something.
I prefer the J30’s on 7th Gen Accord V6 models and J32’s On Acura TL’s 04 to 08 one of the Best J Series V6 models made. The J35Z in the 13 to 18 Acura RDX models is solid engine. Sadly the J37 had many problems.
100%, even the J35's in my 2011 and 2013 Accords was a better engine. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Excellent
Hey is the exhaust header the same?
Yes it's identical.
Did you have to drill off the core support bar or did it unbolt ?
I had to drill the spot welds to remove it.
I’m about to start this swap as we speak just picked up a j37A in MDX
Beautiful Farm!
Cool machine!
I have a vibration/shaking issue with my 2003 Acura MDX. Replaced my axle joints and struts but the issue has continued. It usually happens around 25-45 mph.
Also when I'm turning
mines died @ 300k as well.
This seems to be the issue on my 2019... seems a little soon for this type of failure. Was Ottawa Drive shaft the shop in question?
That does seem premature. Yes I used Ottawa Driveshaft and Steering. ottawa-driveshaft-steering.com/
the fuel is the moving part on a two stroke
I'm no expert, but if it's making a lot of smoke, it might be burning oil. Anyways beauty bike eh.
Of course it's burning oil, it's a 2-stroke and I have premix in the tank.
Well done sir. Thank you so much.
Great video! I got a Laugh
Thanks Mike, Heidi is always entertaining.
