Bought the Deep to Shallow programme. Broke 90 (86)for the first time this year just last week. Had some nice comments from my playing partners on how smooth my swing looked too! Craig is the best!!
you gotta follow the good stuff. I think people tend to follow TH-camrs with a lot of subscribers. It’s natural. We follow what others follow…. But unfortunately, thera so much conflicting information these days in the Internet..
Thank-you Craig!!! I went out & golfed & worked on the proper movement of the hands. I’ve always had zero to few degrees of shaft lean. I have spent several thousands on lessons & no one ever taught this hand motion. I went out today & was able to get the proper hand release working. I’ve been golfing for 40+ years. I’m look forward to working with you in the near future. The difference with the proper hand release is UNBELIEVABLE!!
This is so needed for me right now. Craig, I’ve been watching coaches that like to preach not rolling the hands over because of consistency issues but I feel like trying to keep the hands from rolling is a detriment to my swing that causes physical issues in hands and wrists.
This is just what I need! Been working the wrist hinge, unhinge, and rehinge. This video lets me understand this very important part of the swing. Thank You!
A swing thought which helped me achieve the grip pointing up was trying to brush the side of my trail knee with the palm of my trail hand. I found this worked because: -I obviously wouldn't strike my knee with my trail hand, so it forced me to clear my hips, shallow my swing, and most importantly prevent me from creating an "internal rotation of the elbow" as discussed in one of your previous videos, in order to stop me from striking my knee with my hand. -It promoted an in to out swing path which produced my desired draw while still allowing me to fade my shorter irons -Because I was trying to strike my knee with the palm of my trail hand, it forced me to hinge my wrists and release at the right time The internal rotation of the elbow is discussed in another video, but I was struggling with putting it all together because I found I was pushing the trail arm to create the swing, much like a slap-shot in hockey, rather than relaxing and releasing the arms/wrists. This swing thought I believe helped me because it put all of these concepts together while promoting a relaxed, smooth swing because my swing is essentially anchored around the trail knee, not the golf ball. Does any of this make sense? I tried this at the range with a bucket of balls and for the first time in a few years, every ball that came off the club face felt like butter and produced a very repeatable shot shape and height. When I tried this swing thought, I realized where my hands were finishing, and it reminded me of this video which I had watched a few weeks ago. Thank you!
Thank you sooo much for this. Gave me the AH HA moment I needed. Last year a lost about 10-15 yards on my irons and my wedges. Couldn’t figure out why. I saw a picture someone took of me swinging a 5 iron years ago and I noticed that my hands were like you described post impact. Then I realized that for some reason, it seemed like I just stopped doing that but I couldn’t figure out how to get it back. Once it happened upon this video, it only took me about 2 weeks to put this move back into my swing. Played the other day and dropped about 12 strokes off my gave over the week prior. Hitting bombs again with driver and getting started on my intended line. I can now swing slower with more control which improved distance, control, and accuracy. You’re sooooo right about how the body follows the hands. Felt some stretches in some muscles I haven’t felt in a while. Thank you thank you thank you for making this kind of instruction free for all of us!!! Best of luck to you Sir!!!
Just started watching this guy. I practiced his last two lessons and I picked up about 5 yards of carry distance. And my swing feels easier!!! Amazing.
After watching this video it help me realize that I’ve been dragging the club all the time never release it . After practicing this I hit my lowest round 71 . Thank you Craig
Been golfing for years and now 66. I read every article, book, whatever and practiced for years. Then I magically had a swing. It was b/c after my initial takeaway I got my forearm to rotate slightly for the wrist angle. Didn't know what I was doing but it worked so well I could play scratch golf. But now older, I'm seeing what I didn't know. Thanks.
Great work Craig. It takes a while to get things through my thick skull. Strong grip combined with the underneath release results in very solid, straight shots.

Hi Craig. Thanks for your dedication to us Ams. Can you please let us all know at what point do the wrists start "rolling". Does this technique, like many, require repetitive drills/practice.
it takes long term commitment and patience.. i don’t believe it’s possible to answer when the writes start rolling exactly it’s hitting those key check points and practicing 👍👍
Craig, could you do a video on the difference between that "under" release you're talking about and "flipping" releasing the club. As an amateur I have a hard time understanding the difference between the two. Thx for your videos

@@CraigHansonGolf Don’t get me wrong. I think You have a great swing. You have a pronounced lateral hip action late in transition. You also have a very straight right leg at the top à la Sam Snead. I wish I could get that. I played right behind Snead in the Colorado open in the late 80’s so I got to see him closeup. You have the same build as him(thick upper body) so you have the propensity to swing like him. The big difference in mechanics is he had that bow legged squat in transition. Also if you could see Snead hit a ball you would be alarmed at how much he pulled it. He aimed right and hit a pull fade on several shots that I watched. You’ll blend an earlier hip rotation with your lateral move when attempting a pull. I spent some time with Mac OGrady in the early 90’s and we discussed this. Mac would tell you what he told me. Your setup, ball position and intent will determine a lot of your sequencing. You’re hip action will take on a different look if you practice hitting pulls. He would also give you the same lesson he gave Seve. Go bow legged. I’m from the generation of guys who were taught to keep our knees pointed inward (Misinterpretation of Hogans book).
