Craig it’s amazing how much you know about the golf swing. Now I understand why you’ve taught so many tour professionals. The different body types the different patterns lots of people think they know the golf swing but they don’t.
Hey Craig. Have become a big fan recently especially after purchasing your Steep to Shallow series you did with Eric. Could you talk a bit at some point about your pro career and some of the players you have coached? Just curious about that. Thanks
Thanks for the video. I’m currently in this rabbit hole. It really feels good in my swing with tempo and staying fluid. I think different swing styles favor our different body types , you just have to find it.
Hello everyone, it’s Craig Hanson here. Your online Lesson goes between 15 to 30 minutes with side-by-side examples, Taylor drills and exercises and unlimited contact with me. your online lesson comes in a compressed email the same software used as this TH-cam video except with your swing on the screen in my voice. I’m teaching professionals through to novice golfers specialising with Senior players. Let’s start together today, a new beginning on your golf. kind regards
Inconsistent thins and fats, like Im afraid to hit the ground. Then if I try to hit ball then ground, I hit it so fat. My short and mid irons have improved a ton with these videos, so thank you! Hybrid, wood, and driver might aswell just stay in my bag 😅
Another great video Craig. It appears the left shoulder never gets in line with the left hip on the driver downswing. It is always behind the left hip. Is that accurate?
I started shifting my hip over a couple days ago and I’ve been able to strike the ball so much cleaner and more consistent across all clubs even my fairway woods have improved a 1000%. I’ve picked up about 20 yards or so as well. For me it seems to allow my body to sync up much easier.
Thanks that’s very nice to hear. I just did a video series with Eric Cogorno believe it or not! It’s an easier way to swing! - Here it is partners.performancegolfzone.com/deep-to-shallow/affiliate/video-sc-b?a_aid=worldclassgolf2&
Thank you, Craig. you always make me crack up, love it, Hey I know my ability, I'm a realist, when I shank a shot I know I should pure, I throw a second ball down and rope it, no thoughts, no standing over the ball for 30 seconds thinking about who knows what, be an Athlete, I just have to get it in my brain before setup and go,in all seriousness, I've learned so many great golf instructions from watching and listening to you, just a quick Thank you, again. stay well.
Fantastic video Craig. Just a thought from someone that is a better mathematician than a golfer. Do you feel that because we do not address the ball in an actual impact position. The left shoulder will be higher at impact than address. This will force the head to be lower at impact than address and the right should lower as well. If it were not so we would end up with the over the top swing which may end up with the head not lowering.
Xander and scottie and jon rahm and collin, tony finau, gary woodland, bryson, wyndham clark, hideki, spieth, thomas, min woo lee don't have strong grips. Even Rory isn't super strong. I don't think they're any stronger than any in the past. And ben hogan didn't have a super weak grip. Neither snead. Neither moe norman. They had a little cup and the toe had a little hang at most. I think the old timers had weak grips compared to generation before them like Bobby Jones who had actual strong grips, But they weren't that weak. And the new guys aren't that strong. Btw dustin johnson doesn't have a super strong grip. He flares the face wide open before he takes it back and people just look at his left hand and say oooooh super strong. His wrist dang near matches the clubface facing the sky at the top. Duval/azinger face the sky with zero bow. That's strong
I feel like pro golfers have several levels of hinge in their swing that multiplies the clubhead speed exponentially, pushing off the ground to add even more snap, but that takes 1000s of hours of practice to groove the timing into muscle memory, and most amateurs will never have the time or inclination to do that. So for the weekend golfer I think it's better to develop a swing with maybe 1 level of hinge, that way the timing isn't so much of an issue, and you can come to terms with the idea that your drives wont ever be much more than 200 yards.
Sure that can work. I use it. Old man golf. Straight. Not far. Use whatever club gets me on the green with the least amount of effort. Chip and putt above average. Hit 2-6 greens and still break 80.
I think most golfers that are having this issue need to review what’s happening earlier in the swing. The weight transition to the trail needs to be correct weight on the inside foot of the trail leg so that before the down swinging you’re moving over your left leg someone would call this a bump to your lead side I think it’s a lot easier to drop the club in the slot and accelerate at that point.
That's why you need to go to the course and take lessons from a PGA Pro that pays close attention to YOUR swing and helps your shape your swing according to your built and abilities. Videos of other golfers' swing analysis are just giving generic information and theoretical concepts, which are helpful but not enough.
This is more of an advertisement to get online lessons. Because all the people i teach online improve. 95% of PGA Professionals don’t know what i showed in this video.
@@CraigHansonGolf Thanks for your answer but I will say one thing. Tiger Woods definitely started his downswing with his hips and he's the best of all time. You are totally right to say what you are saying about modern players though.
Do you think it would be better to replace “arch your back”with “thoracic spin extension” so people don’t make the mistake of arching their lumbar spine
"There is no more correct way to swing a golf club if the result is the ball going in the hole in a fewer number of those swings." Butch Harmon. I stopped trying to swing the club correctly a long time ago. Now, I just focus on putting the ball in the hole. I reduced my handicap by 10 strokes in 3 months.
Unfortunately, impact mechanics shown here as "ideal" are anything but with respect to spinal health. It might take a career but you can be sure that combined twisting and bending of the lower spine will eventually grind away the lower disc(s). Golf is littered with lower back sufferers at all levels. So it might work well when you are young but eventually, like me, you will succumb to one, or in my case two prolapsed and collapsed discs. Something that brings severe chronic pain, numb zones and burning in both back and legs. It's your choice, but be warned ....
Most amateurs are just standing too close to the ball based on their rotational ability, if you can't rotate like a human cat as most prod today can, you can't stand close to the ball, you have to slightly reach ad golfers like Trevino and Player and the ultimate teacher Moe Norman, forget all about hanging your arms straight down like many young players
Craig Hanson…. Shift and lift is awesome for the young guys. But I’m 70 with 2 fake knees and a bad back!!! How is this going to help me? I can’t move like that. 😢
I’ve got 2 new hips and arthritis in my shoulder…. as i mention in all my videos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! …. Do the best you can!!! Regardless how old you are you can improve. I’m not and i repeat i am not specifically doing videos for 70+ with fake knees otherwise i wouldnr have any followers any business or any success. Done be so selfish! - I do videos for the masses of the people. Do the best with what you’ve got. Don’t demand that i help you!
Your hips should point to your target, so this is sort of right unless you want to draw the ball. However, you will lose 30% of your power by not turning your hips.

I have no idea what that even mess it sounds like a ridiculous youtube title

So do you start your downswing with your knees or your hips please?
it’s a lateral shift of the left hip/thigh/ knee you don’t turn immediately
