A new requirement in 24H2 is that the CPU must support SSE4.2 or it won't even boot and you may not even be able to start the install as it may not even boot to the installation program. I tested this for myself on two PCs that don't support SSE4.2 but run 23H2 just fine and both wouldn't even boot the installer. It is not always the best way. The time you spent on installing everything, including software could be a lot. Unless there are some issues with your system, you have too much trash data, I don't see a reason to install fresh copy. If it works, then it works. If you are technical person and can install fresh copy, then install all drivers, all software you use then you should also be able to track down issues and fix them. I once in a while, when I feel I already might have too much trash on my PC, I do fresh install but I do it only in case my SSD's get full of unknown data and its usage size doesn't make sense. That means some software left a lot of files spread over different locations and tracking down all of that will take more time than installing a fresh copy. Of course, this is just my way of doing things.

You need to run Rufus beta version 4.6.2205 version as it patches the CPU restriction on the Stable version of Rufus ( version 4.5.2180 ) This bug only shows it's face if You do a upgrade version of Win 11 .. IE: Setup from the USB in place upgrade from 23h2
You can bypass and use local account without Rufus. I had to recently because on a brand new PC I built there was no Wi-Fi driver to connect to my Microsoft account. I had to install windows without internet then put a Wi-Fi driver on the usb drive and copy it over to the new machine fully complete. There are instructions on TH-cam. But this seems to be a great easy way to bypass. I also have a PC that did not meet the cpu requirements for upgrade and followed some other instructions to bypass the checks. But this would have been easier.
Windows Pro gives you the "domain" option if you click on the "sign in options", it may be called differently in other languages but if you choose it, it allows you to create a local account.
If you finished building your pc, don't install 24h2. Instead install Windows 10 If you already have windows 11 23h2, don't upgrade to 24h2 Microsoft has installed recall on every pc, regardless of they're copilot+ or not
Very informative, Shift F10 to clean Disk 0 straight forward no need to mess around cleaning partitions one by one manually other wise I may accidentally clean my other drives I just Subscribe your channel. Thanks!
Thanks, that's the first comment about the Shift F10 trick. I'm surprised there were not more comments as I'm not sure it's widely known that you can get to a command prompt during Windows Setup. Yeah I know some Techies will know, but in gerneral, most casual installers are not aware that feature exists.
I use Rufus on hardware that supports Win11 to kill the online account. Of course I bypass the TPM as well and all that cause Windows once installed will recognize those assets anyway.
rufus should add a warning when tpm check bypass is enabled. My computer has tpm support and I didn't know it. After installing it, I discovered that my computer was not working properly, core-related settings were missing, and riot games were unplayable. What's worth mentioning here is that I can't fix it without having to install another version of Windows that doesn't have the option to turn off tpm check. Rufus should have instructions to re-enable tpm checking on the device
I had hope for the method in this video to install Win11_24H2_English_x64.iso on top of a 22H2 at which my laptop is stuck. Rufus 4.6.2208 is skipping over the "Customize windows installation" screen. That screen does not come up at all and Rufus just copies all the files from the ISO to the USB Stick. initially regular setup was complaining about TPM2.0 and Secureboot . I tried the setup /product server as suggested by other posts after which I started getting "Setup has failed to validate the product key" no matter which workaround I try. This is on a valid windows 11 Pro license that's activated with a digital license, upgraded from a Windows10 bypassing Win11 requirements with regedit entries.
There is another method. Download Windows 10 media from www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10 Download Windows 11 media from www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows11 Copy install.wim from the Windows 11 media to the Windows 10 media (overwriting the Windows 10 install.wim. Then use the Windows 10 media (which now contains the Windows 11 install.wim) Windows 11 should then install as Windows 10 does not not check for the minimum hardware requirements like Windows 10 does.
Perhaps Microsoft will have reasonable minimum memory requirements. People using Rufus to install W11 onto older CPUs or computers with less than 4GB RAM expect and understand Windows to perform poorly. People buying brand new computers in 2024 from cheap shops not knowing what is really needed getting Celeron CPU and 4GB RAM and figuring it's a new computer, it should run, but new out the box Windows 11 uses 8GB of RAM and needs 16GB of RAM to have any free RAM after booting to load a browser, word editor, email client. But you can still buy new computers with 4GB of RAM that is permanently pagefile swapping with a Celeron or Pentium CPU, burning out the SSD (probably a SATA drive). Then Windows 11 wouldn't feel so so so crap. Perhaps. But they definitely won't. Anyway, I'm going to get a SATA SSD to replace a HDD on a Dell AIO APS 2730 i5-3xxx 3rd Gen 8GB. Try a W11 24H2 clean install. Dell does NOT even support Windows 10 on it, no W10 drivers released. But it's been running W10 on a HDD since W10 came out. Just got a new Dell AIO Inspiron Core 5 (not i5) 16GB with W11 24H2 (auto updated during OOBE I believe). So the 3rd gen if it clean-installs without bricking the motherboard (which is a known possibility with W10 hence why it's not supported) will be a good backup, second computer.
@@ClickNextDemos Thank you for the answer! I wasn't sure if they would interfere with further updates, but it remains to be seen - after all it's Microsoft we're talking about. :)
Hi , your explanation is very clear and easy to follow. Although I seem to get this message when trying to download the iso "Validating your request. This may take several minutes. Do not refresh the page or select back, doing so will cancel the request." how do I get that resolved? thanks
In early 2023, Microsoft have stepped up the anti-abuse protection of their ISO download servers and are a lot more proactive (read: aggressive) at banning IP addresses that they consider to be either putting excessive stress on their servers, or that come from a specific region that they want to filter out. If you aren't trying to download an ISO from a download restricted country, this error usually occurs if you (or someone behind the same external IP as the one you use) downloaded a few too many ISOs in rapid succession, and Microsoft have banned that IP as a result. If that is the case, this should be a temporary ban that expires after something like 24 hours, so you should either wait a day or two or, if possible, get a new IP address. But, again, because it is Microsoft-controlled and IP based, there is nothing Rufus can do about it and, as a matter of fact, if you try to download an ISO from www.microsoft.com/en-US/software-download, you should find that you get the same error. Alternatively, you can download the ISO from within the Rufus Application. In Rufus, on the box that says "Select" where you select the ISO, you can click the drop down arrow and change it to Download.
hello brother. my computer is old and NOT UEFI BIOS but currently I am using windows 11 23h2 -- PROCESSOR core2 duo e 8600 ddr2 - That's why I continue by SELECTING MBR IN RUFUSTA AND SELECTING TPM SECURE BOOT DISABLED OPTION but it gives an error and the installation does not work. I tried many ways and tried with cmd commands but it did not work. I replaced the INSTALL.WIM file from the windows 11 24h2 source folder with the install.wim in the .WINDOWS 11 23H2 SOURCE section but it did not work. in short, I tried every way but it does not work. RUFUST IS NOT USEFUL. what should I do
Your cpu (core 2 duo) is simply too old & unsupported for 24h2. Nothing & no one can help you bypass that. Windows 11 24h2 is compiled with instructions that need SSE4.2 which your cpu doesn't have, so it won't run. Windows 11 23h2 will be the last version of Windows you'll be able to use on your computer unless you upgrade your cpu, which will also mean you need a new motherboard and Ddr3 or 4 ram etc, so it's not worth it to spend that much money just for a slightly newer windows version. Especially for old hardware like yours 24h2 contains nothing useful over 23h2. Continue running 23h2. When it reaches end of support by next year end, you can switch to Linux if still don't want to buy new hardware.
If you are doing the install.wim trick, you need to do it the other way round. You need to copy your 24H2 install.wim onto a 23H2 install media (overwriting the 23H2 install.wim). Then use the 23H2 install media (which has the 24H2 install.wim). That should work. Even though you are using 23H2 media, it will install the 24H2 version because you are using the 24H2 wim file.

Great question. Windows 11 24H2 is probably what Windows 12 was going to be. Seems that Microsoft decided against calling it Windows 12 for whatever reason and kept with Windows 11 brand. At the end of the day, the version number is irrelevant. Windows is now being continuiously updated and improved, even between big version number jumps.

Regular Windows security updates work fine, but future major updates to a new build for example, 24H2 to 25H2 won't be offered. You will need to use Rufus again to create new installation media and either do a clean install or In-Place Upgrade.

Yes, unsupported hardware will receive the same updates as a supported PC with the exception of major OS updates, like going from 22H2 to 23H2 or 23H2 to 24H2. If the hardware doesn't meet the requirements, then they will never be offered the upgrade, which makes sense. Not True. Exactly the same options are in 4.6 that were in 4.5 But just to add, it also depends on the version of Windows that you select. Some options may not appear if you are using earlier versions of Windows 11. But if you use 24H2 for example, all the same options are there.
If your PC was activated with Windows 10 or Windows 11 previously, as long as you installed the same "edition" eg. Home or Pro, then it should automatically activate.

**Important** NOTE: The official Windows 11 installer SUPPORTS 6th gen. i3 CPUs and above for over a year now (yes, even laptop CPUs with the 'U' designation) so if you have some good ol' business series laptop or desktop (like a Lenovo T or P series or a Dell that has TPM 2.0 integrated) you can use the RECOMMENDED ORIGINAL installer created by Microsoft's Media Creation Tool.
Wow. You sir are very informative. And easy to listen to as well.
Thank you for being clear and perct. 😊😊😊😊
Will be checking out some more of your stuff. Ok. 😊😊😊
Thanks - I appreciate that.
Yeah, that's a nice easy work around if you have the Pro version. I can't imagine Microsoft will ever block that as businesses need it.
Thank God I will never have to use Rufus for that! Luckily, it works for installing operating systems that are not inexcusable SPYWARE, as well.
If you finished building your pc, don't install 24h2. Instead install Windows 10
If you already have windows 11 23h2, don't upgrade to 24h2
Microsoft has installed recall on every pc, regardless of they're copilot+ or not
Very informative, Shift F10 to clean Disk 0 straight forward no need to mess around cleaning partitions one by one manually other wise I may accidentally clean my other drives
I just Subscribe your channel. Thanks!
Thanks, that's the first comment about the Shift F10 trick. I'm surprised there were not more comments as I'm not sure it's widely known that you can get to a command prompt during Windows Setup. Yeah I know some Techies will know, but in gerneral, most casual installers are not aware that feature exists.
yeah and recall is fully install crazy
thanks very good
That's a great and well made video....Thanks for the upload...👍 (Subbed and liked)
Thanks
Sorry, can’t find the registry in to copy to the command prompt. But I did read all the comments
I use Rufus on hardware that supports Win11 to kill the online account. Of course I bypass the TPM as well and all that cause Windows once installed will recognize those assets anyway.
Nice
Thanks for speaking properly and not like an American teenage schoolgirl.

rufus should add a warning when tpm check bypass is enabled.
In summary: Rufus v4.6 clean-installing W11 24H2 is still a breeze.
Yep works fine, did it a couple days ago on my AM4 system ( Ryzen7 5700x / RX6750xt / 64gb Ram).
Download Windows 10 media from www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10
Download Windows 11 media from www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows11
Copy install.wim from the Windows 11 media to the Windows 10 media (overwriting the Windows 10 install.wim.
Then use the Windows 10 media (which now contains the Windows 11 install.wim)
Windows 11 should then install as Windows 10 does not not check for the minimum hardware requirements like Windows 10 does.
already done this its good
If the good/bad/good/bad release cycle that started with XP continues, perhaps Windows 12 will be a response to Windows 11’s dwindling market share.
Thank you for the video!
Should these registry tweaks then be removed after the in-place upgrade?
You don't need to remove them, they won't cause any harm by being there. But you can remove them if you want to.
@@ClickNextDemos Thank you for the answer! I wasn't sure if they would interfere with further updates, but it remains to be seen - after all it's Microsoft we're talking about. :)

SSE 4.2?
In Rufus, on the box that says "Select" where you select the ISO, you can click the drop down arrow and change it to Download.
hello, you should install by using previous version of setup, you don't need to clean driver.

No
Where is the "In Place Upgrade" option?
Yes, I show that in the video.
I used Rufus to upgrade a Windows 11 laptop to Windows 10.
I'd like to upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 7 😬
😂
Other people are using Rufus upgrading to Linux.
hello brother. my computer is old and NOT UEFI BIOS but currently I am using windows 11 23h2 -- PROCESSOR core2 duo e 8600 ddr2 - That's why I continue by SELECTING MBR IN RUFUSTA AND SELECTING TPM SECURE BOOT DISABLED OPTION but it gives an error and the installation does not work.
The latest beta version of Rufus may work.

When will we have windows 12??
In a year in which there is no Friday.
Hi, Well it seems to have stopped working! Every time I try to use Rufus it just says this PC does not meet the requirements and there is no "Next" button just back or stop.
Hello, I just upgraded to 24H2 from 23H2 and after the reboot process, My computer had problems with the boot drv. "A disk Read Error Occurred" What is the Repair Process that I need to use to correct this error. Thank You!
Are the registry tweaks needed if updating in-place from a previous version of Win11 (rather than Win10)? Thanks.
Since this video was released, Rufus 4.6 was made available where I beleive you don't need to do the manual registry tweaks.
I have a doubt. What happens after when the support for windows on a specific hardware is over?
That's entirely up to the user. Choose to continue using it or upgrade to a supported version.

Hi, I installed 24H2 (English-US) on two PC's with no problems, but the third won't let me keep apps and settings, say language is different. I have tried changing the locale from UK to US but without success. Do I need to create ISO with English International? Thanks in advance
You need to download the correct language version of the ISO that matches the version you have installed, otherwise it will not allow you to keep apps and settings.

hi,the rufus 4.6,not working pypass for clear instal ,only upgrate? any idea for fix?thx
Try Rufus 4.5, clean installation works.
Is the future update available after installing w11 24H2 on unsupported hardware??? Pls Reply. Thanks a lot.
Regular Windows security updates work fine, but future major updates to a new build for example, 24H2 to 25H2 won't be offered. You will need to use Rufus again to create new installation media and either do a clean install or In-Place Upgrade.
@@ClickNextDemos Thanks a lot for prompt reply. I just wanted to know this that the security updates will be available on unsupported hardware PC. And thanks again for the quick reply.👍👍👍
Recall is hidden and enabled.
You can’t disable it without killing Windows Explorer.
Have a happy day as it records everything you do including your online banking password
I need to look into the Recall feature. My understanding is that it's only enabled for Copilot devices.
Consider Harmony OS
Thanks, I'll check it out.
its my understanding from other videos ive seen that unsuported hardware installs will only recieve security updates. NOT feature updates.
Yes, unsupported hardware will receive the same updates as a supported PC with the exception of major OS updates, like going from 22H2 to 23H2 or 23H2 to 24H2. If the hardware doesn't meet the requirements, then they will never be offered the upgrade, which makes sense. If you wanted to upgrade to the latest version, you would need to do a clean install again but apart from that, important security updates will be fine.
Thanks but it doesn't work for me. All instructions followed. My be the pc is too old.
Trying the **4.6** version of Rufus, and there are ***NONE*** of the Customization options you show in the video. Broken just like ANY MSWindows application.
Not True. Exactly the same options are in 4.6 that were in 4.5
But just to add, it also depends on the version of Windows that you select. Some options may not appear if you are using earlier versions of Windows 11.
But if you use 24H2 for example, all the same options are there.
How to activate windows 11
If your PC was activated with Windows 10 or Windows 11 previously, as long as you installed the same "edition" eg. Home or Pro, then it should automatically activate.
You MUST use
(rufus 4.6 beta) otherwise it won't work! I have tried both 4.5 and 4.6 beta with 24H2

(update).
Rufus 4.5 was made long before 24H2 came out and is not compatible with 24H2 !!!!
I have tried rufus 4.6 beta with 24H2 on unsupported hardware and it worked fine.
Remember that rufus must be made specifically for the things it will be used for.
The way things and tricks are done is a little different in 24H2 than it was in 23h2!
Interesting. I did use 4.5 in the video, and it worked fine for 24H2 both for a clean install and also an In-Place upgrade.
