She is pure power. Many may not understand that she felt that music, her life, the struggle, the beauty, the passion of who she was and she released it and expressed it in her fingers on the keys, and then in her spirit and dance. It's a release screaming, "I'm here, Nina!" Oh, she was a beautiful soul, and is a powerful messenger. RIP Sister, thank you!
As a young black woman every time I watch this video my self esteem goes up more and more. I feel so regal and grateful to be cut from the same cloth as her 😭😭😭
Jibba Jabba You’re commenting on a Nina Simone video, a woman who’s known for making music about black disenfranchisement in America. An “I’m grateful to be black girl” comment isn’t unwarranted or hateful. Especially in this context. That’s literally all I meant, have a blessed one :)
“I’m a real rebel with a cause.” “You get racism crossing the street; it’s in the very fabric of American society.” “Slavery has never been abolished from America’s way of thinking.” 6:09 “Sometimes I sound like gravel, and sometimes I sound like coffee and cream.” Phrases attributed to Nina Simone
Timothy, You R right, a pop star is humiliating in this case. She is a artist on top level. She can express her thoughts and feelings through music. That is special. It toughs me big time. Thanks for correct me, you R so right.
As an African that has been living in Cameroon throughout his life and listen to different African beats, I appreciate this type of beats coming from Ms Nina in the mid 70s, i wasn't even born by then. Good Job Mom. And her name is Cameroonian too.
Still, she was a trained classical pianist. This is a AdHoc performance at the Montreux Jazz Festival, and it is awesome! And it is a ‘to be in the moment’ thing, just letting the rhythm of the drums and percussions get to you...I love it
@@micatee5516 According to her documentary and in her own words, she had a lot of training. She complained that she didn't know she would be practicing like 8 hours a day. They also talk with one of her piano teachers. She was of course gifted as not just a musician, but as a singer from birth. They said she had perfect pitch.
She is gorgeous, did you see those fingers move across the keys? I can listen and watch her dance all day. Natural god given talent, unmanufactured. What a gift Mrs Nina is.
I love when she is to perform she gets so excited by the bands music she stops performing to get up and dance to what they are playing. They are playing so well to her that she can't help but dance so funny hilarious💕❤️💕
This aint what you learn in school, it runs through the veins, Its contained in Earth, Its played by the Ancestors, The sound Angels make. Wake Up and See, This Is your Queen. God dont joke when He say "The Truth Shall make you Free". Look, There is the Truth, There She Is. Believe That? You Are Free.
Truly gifted. We should have cared for her better. I freaking worship her genius. There simply is no one, at anytime, who can match her artistry , passion and power. “ can’t you see me down here praying! “ indeed.
There's a really fascinating optical illusion happening at the beginning of the video, where the light reflecting off the tops of her hands hits the brand logo on the piano, making it look like the LED volume meter on a mixing board bouncing with her playing. It even gets dimmer when her playing gets softer, because her hands are moving less.
Incrível como ela viajava tocando e cantando. Interpretações da alma. Ancestralidade, rota de fuga, força de uma mulher incrível que esse mundo teve a sorte de ter. Nina é única!
Introduced, at a very early age to music from around the world. This Woman can make beautiful music, sing and dance a great talent, thanks for posting.
THE HIGH Priestess of SOUL QUEEN Nina Simon, seeing Her in concert in HARLEM, Montreal JAZZ festival, ALWAYS an untouchable experience.....PS SIP in the AFTERLIFE......Beloved.....

I think it's telling that this track, a song about a man who can not escape God's judgement, first appeared on Pastel Blues right after Blood on the Leaves, a song about the lynchings of African Americans. Nina was not afraid to tell people they were going to hell.
It's sinner man Simone who'll be running to the devil , because no abominations shall enter the kingdom. Simone is an abomination, pursuant to Deuteronomy 22:5.
@Lloyd Gittens no, she did have problems we can better deal with today. She was so very smart and sensitive and talented. Alot of times torment comes with being so gifted. If you watch some of her interviews you can see it creep out. Not saying what she said was wrong but you can tell at times she was just slightly off maybe one rocker not both lol
Scruffy Dingo what do you expect? It's rolling stone magazine. They'd have you believe the Beatles are the best thing ever. I'll have Nina over them all day all day and night long.
If its any consolation nobody will remember any of the old men who wrote that book, but your great great grandchildren will study Nina in History and Music class.
Why did we never see how clever & amazing Nina IS? I had the opportunity to hear more & she is beyond just this & I get "it". Make yourself present Nina Simone...
Just WOW! I did not grow up listening to Nina Simone. The only song I knew was “To be young, gifted, and black.” When I became exposed to her music much later in life, I could not not get enough. The more live performance videos I see of Miss Simone, just confirms her as my favorite artist of all time!
Simone loves and I respect her roots! A very gifted artist to sustained beliefs to her roots. Amen! She is challenging her placement to placed upon this world. Just like so a many! Nina is beyond Rolling Stones needed to accolades honeybunches! .

Ella es el mero diablo vestido de mujer!! Una verdadera mujer, de esas nada señoriteras, de esas nada damas, una mujer como se debe ser!! La amo a Nina, gracias por tanta magia musical!
Totally forgot she was an incredible singer for a few minutes because she is so damn good at every component of performing including piano and dancing! ❤️❤️❤️
Magnifique version . Un retour saisissant aux racines du jazz : essentiellement percussions et danse de style tribale de régions Africaines. Alors que nous sommes en 76, que sont passés le Bop, le free, etc. Et que Nina Simone à tout chanté. Respect.
I haven't heard a bad song from Nina Simone, so I'm completely happy to listen to this song whether it is Sinnerman or African Mailman. I love her work in 2020 and am so glad it survived for me to discover it. I was a little white boy in the inner city when the Civil Rights Movement was in full effect in the middle 60's, so my life was full of fear of black people by virtue of my family's reaction to them. But, I was always mesmerized by the music that came from black culture, namely Motown at that time. Plus, television was our internet at that time, and I watched Soul Train many times and did so enjoy what I saw and heard there. In fact, I'm old enough to remember when interracial dating was a THING, and people used to look at the couples like they were aliens or monsters. I've seen so much racism in my life, and participated in way too much of it, by virtue of my upbringing. Now, I'm old enough and smart enough to seek out what I missed and I definitely MISSED Nina Simone. She was an absolute leader and a musician nonpareil.
Ancestors were moving through Nina strong!!!! Energy never dies. So grateful for this woman ❤

Human. Rest is mostly distraction
that's idiotic but whatever
Jibba Jabba all she said was that the song made her grateful to be what she is, relax.
I did that too and people call me a white supremacist l0l

Brian Harrigan mesmerizing was word came to mind too.
There's a Netflix documentary on her called what happened Miss Nina?
She was not of this earth..she was simply a goddess out of Africa
Nina... this is December 2020, just 2 days to Xmas and I am celebrating you, posthumously
She was a trained classical pianist and she was brilliant!
Tina Sena more than that she was an artist. and those drums have nothing to do with classical music.

Maybe they’re mad that it’s the “sinnerman” piano part, not “African Postman”. Okay. That misses the point that Nina is amazing.
