Love your reaction! Small correction tho: Will Wood never left Tapeworms, they were literally made by Will himself. It's just the change of name, and it's kinda explained in "Mr. Fregoli and the Diathesis-Stress Supermodel, Or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Con". It's really not that big of a deal, but just to clarify
Hoping the algorithm brings me back to see you react to "in case i make it" "6 minutes to start off!" *Laughs in knowing ICIMI's first 2 songs equate to 11 minutes in total *
to explain i/me/myself (i got a bit 🤓 here, oops): its not *quite* about being trans, more about will wood's personal experience with gender expression. he previously identified with genderqueer, but then realised that he could be more feminine while still just identifying as a man. as for why it's his most popular song, 1. tiktok and 2. it was somewhat controversial when it originally came out because some people mistook it as being transphobic somehow (likely due to the lines "all identities are equally invalid, dont you think that theres a chance that you could live without it?", however im pretty sure this is him saying that he believes people would just be happier without labels at all, but im not 100% on that) also 2econd 2ight 2eer is pronounced as "second sight seer" 😌
I do actually think that the message behind the song is transphobic in a way, Will just doesn't call it that. Still, I agree with all the thoughts expressed in the song. I believe that all the trans culture popular in recent years with its gender idenity labels helps gender stereotypes to settle better in the society. Accept your nature, be proud of it and don't be afraid to be too feminine/masculine no matter what body you were born in
Yeah, that's how i interpreted it too, but it really is easy to write it off as "the trans song" as I and many others have done their first few listens.
@@muffinx81 I wouldn't say it's transphobic to say that you can express yourself how you want without being trans, as gender identity and expression are two different things. The song is about Will's personal relationship with identity and expression, it's not saying trans people aren't valid. The thing about trans people is that being trans _is_ their nature, they can't change it or control it, so transitioning is part of accepting who they are.
TOP 5: (spoilers!) 1. Suburbia Overture / Greetings From Mary Bell Township! / (Vampire) Culture / Love, Me Normally 2. BlackBoxWarrior - OKULTRA 3. 2econd 2ight 2eer (that was fun, goodbye.) 4. Outliars and Hyppocrates: a fun fact about apples 5. Laplace’s Angel (Hurt People? Hurt People!)
Fun fact on his instagram story last week he was in the studio and seemed to be making the remastered version of this album so his hiatus might be ending soon
I live for Will Wood reaction vids :0 I love how you're just dancing and having a good time (especially throughout 222 that song is just so GROOVY!!), hehe Could you react to the music videos? Or the documentary on his channel, called What Did I Do, or one if the live in studio vids? Sorry if you don't want to 😭
I’ve stayed up all night watching will wood videos, so here I am at 3:27 in the morning, I can’t fall asleep haha. I have no regrets, life’s too short for those (Also I think the second track in the album is pronounced second sight seer, but I’m not sure)
Normally I don’t comment twice on the same video, but I now know how to play Memento Mori on ukulele and it’s probably one of the most fun ones to play lol
22:02 "And good news to the purists, theyve discovered a cure for the symptoms of being alive! It's a painless procedure with a low rate of failure, but very few patients survive!" He's talking about suicide 😅
PoV: you show your friend callmecarson an album you've listened to (he always pretends he's talking to an audience for some reason, even in personal interactions with his loved ones).
I know the musical TONE of I/Me/Myself is upbeat, but as a person who relates heavily to that song, it’s always come across to me as extremely ANGRY. In general, I love songs that have a front-facing upbeatness and use that to be extremely sickly sardonic and dark, and I/Me/Myself strikes me as that, of course with the lyrics which heavily reference eating disorders and self-hate. The main theme of the song seems to be how others will view a person and force them into a box, and how that’ll skew a person’s perspective of who they are and cause them to hate themself. “I wish I could be a girl in that way you wish I could be: your girlfriend /boyfriend.” And of course, there’s the entire angry screaming section that feels cathartic to my soul. “Let me be the void you fill with taxidermy fingerprints.”

I’ve heard 1 song from them. I’m planning on reacting to MCR soon.
