I like that you pointed out how many different “time periods” there seem to be in the music. That’s intentional-anachronism is a big part of the show and the music guides you through it perfectly. It’s all meant to make you feel a bit unsure of where (and WHEN) you are, and create a sense of… for lack of a better word, timelessness.
Fun Music Fact: the song “Pottsfield C.M” uses and old style of social singing from the 18th century called Shape Note. It’s rather fascinating if you want to look it up to learn more. Something to note about Shape Note singing is that most Shape Note songs done by towns/settlements will have a specific naming convention of “[town/settlement name C.M”. So the town singing this Shape Note as noted in the song name is Pottsfield and C.M stands for Common Meter.

It's always insane to me how deep this soundtrack goes. Like they really didn't need to put as much care and attention into it but every single piece of music feels authentic to a specific piece of Americana and they gave it their 100%

OTGW is the perfect autumn series. It's about two brothers lost and trying to find their way home, through a fairy-tale world that seems to be made up of little bubbles from all sorts of time periods, but all in autumn.
it's a family-friendly cartoon, but definitely spooky at times.
listening to the soundtrack first is unfortunately FULL of spoilers, but i think you'll be delighted to see how all those twists and turns come in.
Ha the soundtrack switching to electric guitar and synth is really interesting when you don't know why it's happening. There's a big reason for it.

Did you know that "come wayward souls" the opra like song and "potatus et molassus" are parallel to "o holy night"?
In particular, Come Wayward Souls is written in the same meter as O Holy Night. This means that you can sing them to the same tune!

People love this mordern masterpiece of a gothic Storytelling that will make the brother Grims proud.

2 of the songs are from the pilot episode, which is called "The Tome of the Unknown": the first one is "Can't You See I'm Lonely", and the second is "Shine on Harvest Moon".
