I/me/myself is basically about how Will was confused about his gender identity since he had the idea that he couldn't be a man if he didn't fit "manly" stereotypes. I actually belive he identified as genderqueer for some time before he realised he was simply a 'feminine' cis man. He also said that the song came out a bit angrier than he intended ("all identities are equally invalid, don't you think that there's a chance that you could live without it?") since he was deeply frustrated with people refusing to accept that he was not trans. While the song resonates with a lot of trans people (and that's fine, everyone's allowed to interpret the song however they prefer), Will is simply singing about his own experience with gender and gender stereotypes as a cis man.
I hate how people aren’t accepting the fact that he’s not trans. Questioning whether you’re trans is different than actually being trans. Don’t tell someone else who they should be. And this is coming from a trans person who uses this song to express that. It means different things to different people, for him it was when he was questioning, for me it’s actually being trans. Both are valid and fine, please respect that
he once identified as genderfluid, I think. But now identifies as a cis man. As a genderfluid person myself, I really resonate with it and the idea of dysphoria though I'm well aware that Will's experience with the song and what he was writing about in the song is very different from how I interpret it!
I think it was also written a long time ago, because the original bridge is different from the studio recording bridge (source: played live at the concert I went to where he sang both versions of the bridge), so the lyrics don't necessarily reflect how he feels about gender Now

Honestly Love, Me Normally at means so much to me, it really resonates with me, and I couldn't even begin to try to count how many times I've scream-sing-cried to it in when I'm alone lol, it just always hits so hard. The meaning in the lyrics combined with the growing anguish in his voice never fails to absolutely emotionally gut me like a fucking fish no matter how many times I listen to it.

I would really recommend ‘cotard’s solution’ it’s one of my favorites and it sort of gives me a liberating feeling and makes me want to scream the chorus with him!
Eh... I actually prefer a cover version more. I don't know, the song just feels nicer with piano and louder instruments. Kinda reminds me of a kirby's epic yarn song in that cover.

If you want to react to more of his songs I'd recomend his new album when it's fully released. It has such a different tone from other of his albums but still feels like him. It's like he got rid of his old persona and feels more comfortable with who he actually is

I've always understood this song (I/Me/Myself) as being gay for a straight man, and wanting to be a girl so that they would be interested in them. There's a lot of references to another person here, and I think that's really overlooked when it comes to lyrics- it sounds like a love song! Probably not a healthy one, though.
I would absolutely adore if you reacted to more of his music! Will Wood's been my favorite musician for a while, so seeing that you've reacted to his music makes me so happy. I've always struggled with suicidal thoughts and perfectionism, and this song is my favorite because it makes me feel so much better. Man the section where Memento Mori was brought up kinda really help me come to my senses. Over the past day or two I have been having an existential crisis getting a sinking pit my stomach every single time my mind even considers the concept of death and nothingness. Eh... I actually prefer a cover version more. I don't know, the song just feels nicer with piano and louder instruments. Kinda reminds me of a kirby's epic yarn song in that cover.

If you want to react to more of his songs I'd recomend his new album when it's fully released. It has such a different tone from other of his albums but still feels like him. It's like he got rid of his old persona and feels more comfortable with who he actually is

I've always understood this song (I/Me/Myself) as being gay for a straight man, and wanting to be a girl so that they would be interested in them. There's a lot of references to another person here, and I think that's really overlooked when it comes to lyrics- it sounds like a love song! Probably not a healthy one, though.

I think it's really cool how you stopped and talked about Memento Mori:The most important thing in the world, and talked about how sometimes thinking about death can be good. I've always struggled with suicidal thoughts and perfectionism, and this song is my favorite because it makes me feel so much better. It's comforting because it always reminds me to not worry as much.

Man the section where Memento Mori was brought up kinda really help me come to my senses. Over the past day or two I have been having an existential crisis getting a sinking pit my stomach every single time my mind even considers the concept of death and nothingness. Watching the section of the video helped me realize;
* Its 1 and I should probably go the fuc to sleep (this was true for yesterday night too)
* "Your legacy is not yours to see" surprisingly as an artist that line actually kind of helps
*I'm only like 1.1% more likely to die sooner than the average man so I keep my head down and I live long.(I actually got that an article I found but I was reading the article while watching the video so it counts)
I stumbled onto this video randomly, and though I haven’t listened to Will Wood in a bit it reminded me just how much I love his music :) I was lucky enough to see him live and it was a great time, he’s got great stage presence
