I actually like my PB&J with the Apple Jelly. Not to say the the Grape isn't yummy too. Where I live in South Central Pennsylvania, many communities have an "Apple Butter Boil" in the Fall/Autumn during the apple harvest. There is nothing like it commercially, but it won't keep, and has to be eaten within a couple of weeks at the outside. There is a product "Pumpkin Butter" which is also very good. No "dairy" in either, it's called "butter" because you put it on bread.

"Jelly" is from the fruit juices. "Jam" has bits of solid fruit in the jelly. "Preserves" is mostly solid fruit in a bit of jelly. We have LOTS of grape jelly here in the eastern USA - so much so that I had my fill of it when young and rarely get it anymore! Fruit butters are spreads that never get as solid of the jellies. Turtles, not so much. In fact, I've never. It's the shape that makes it a "turtle." It's fascinating the differences in our cultures, even though we come from similar roots. Brownie cheater hint: the edges and corners are the best! Great job, Cook!

Snapping turtle soup has been an American & Canadian delicacy for a long time. It really is a lot nicer than you'd think.
As a confection, "turtle" sweets have to have the same ingredients as the original turtle-shaped candy: chocolate, caramel, and pecans.

"I wonder how common grape jelly is" in the States? Pretty common, and by that I mean most Americans have probably eaten at least 50 pounds of it by the time they turn 3 years old -- and are just getting started. And Atlanta is correct, it goes with peanut butter on bread. Most Americans wouldn't know a scone if it bit them in the rear end. And cream just goes in coffee.

i have to agree, due to being cheaper, usually grape jelly is eaten when your younger as kids, just like drinking cool-aid, etc. When your older and can get what you want, most want "better' jam or jelly and don't buy the cheap grape jelly anymore, just like many don't drink cool-aid as adults.

Lol some people eat turtle... I've only had it once in a soup at a big wild game feast. But the term "turtle" in desserts refers to a combination of caramel, pecan (sometimes substituted with walnut), and chocolate. The original Turtle candies have 5 pecan halves shaped in a star, then a dollop of caramel is dropped in the center to hold them together, then covered in chocolate. It looks like a 🐢 . My very favorite is Turtle Cheesecake. A New York style cheesecake, topped with caramel, chocolate, and pecans.

I think I've mentioned this previously but I'll say it again. :) For me, brownies are much better with chopped-up walnuts in them or whole walnuts sprinkled all over the top before baking. If the brownies are too rich, eat them with some vanilla ice cream, or a glass of milk to "cut" the richness. Some people also spread chocolate frosting (icing) on the top after they have cooled. That will give you more ways to try them.
ETA: Jello tastes great with fresh or canned fruit added (small pieces), like strawberry jello with bananas, lime jello with pineapple, or lemon jello with pineapple and grated raw carrots ("sunshine jello"). You can also have any flavor with a dollop of whipped cream (in the can or homemade with sugar added).
BTW, I love your channel and have been watching several vids a day.

So apple butter doesn't actually have "butter" in it, its a really concentrated form of applesauce with warming spices. in the south we tend to eat it on Biscuits. In the U.S. we have "Turtle" candies that are patties of chopped nuts and caramel that are covered in Chocolate, that's how the Turtle Brownies came about. They are they best!!

As someone mentioned, apple butter is not “butter“ but rather a sort of concentrated apple sauce with cinnamon (maybe cloves, too?) Pumpkin butter is also great!

"Apple butter is a highly concentrated form of apple sauce produced by long, slow cooking of apples with cider or water to a point where the sugar in the apples caramelizes, turning the apple butter a deep brown. Atlanta, when trying the "apple butter", compared it to apple sauce. That is exactly what it is sort of. I am from the southern part of the U.S. and my family use to make apple butter in the fall of the year. Early in the morning, we would make a wood fire under a large copper kettle and start to cook apples down till they were basically apple sauce, which took hours. Once it was apple sauce consistency, then the spices were added and cook for hours. It was an all day event. Started cooking around day break and finished in the afternoon. The apple butter you buy at the store is OK, but the homemade apple butter was worth its weight in gold in my opinion.

" Turtle" is a specific mixture of three things such as s'mores is a specific mix of graham crackers ,chocolate and marshmallow. So "turtle" flavor is the blend of caramel, chocolate , and pecan nuts. They are usually formed in the shape of a turtle with a whole pecan from where each foot would be on a live turtle Just google turtle candy and you will see .It is a delicious flavor blend. Strongly suggest getting some to try. That being said , turtle candy is kind of expensive and not always available in all the stores.

We love you all here in Dallas/Fort Worth Texas!! When we go to Terry Black’s BBQ in Dallas we will think of you for sure. You are such an awesome family. I love how you “sync it” together before eating. Kids especially in America eat peanut butter and grape jelly on white bread for breakfast, lunch or snack but it’s great with any jelly or jam on toast or any bread you like. Jam has seeds in it and Jelly doesn’t. That’s the main difference. We are watching all of your videos and enjoy your impressions of America. Your trip to Walmart was a hoot!! What fabulous parents you are. Denzel and Atlanta are terrific. You all get along so beautifully. It’s wonderful to see such a loving family. Thank you for sharing your life with all of us. ❤
