Hi Rob. Excellent ! Very professional video and very well explained ! Thank you so much.
What I try to do from my side with Blender and After Effect (using the add-on 3D Element from Video Copilot) is to track a KML route using a 3D modelized aircraft following the route. I did not succeed yet, but all your videos are very helpful. Once I succeed, I will share the result.
Thank you again from France !

      1) set bevel to 0 of routepath. 2) use constraint of "follow" on the object (aircraft). 3) parent object to routepath. 4) in routepath, use animation settings to move on path. You'll need to play around a bit to find the right look but that's the basic set up

IS there any library that catalogues the buildings, trees, bridges, Electriity towers and poles, cars etc.
If you think about it, it is the widest one in the world. Many towns and villages don't have 3d models. Most of them actually, but you can use similar looking buildings to make 3d models of towns not sculped already. Unless am missing something and am using a different older (or not pro)google earth .

Awesome tutorial, both amazing information and presented so well!
In Blender, would you know how to keep the animated path visible from a far distance? At the end of my clip, the camera zooms out to present the entire route, but in Blender the path disapears at a certain long distance. I've tried increasing the size of the path as the camera moves back, but it seems that the path has a visibility on/off at a certain range regardless of path size. It therefore disappears in sections based on the distance to the camera. Thanks!

I love this technique. Use it pretty often. I could really use your help if you find a minute. When exporting the modified kml to create the mask, the green path in earth studio does not appear anymore as a flat line on the surface. Instead it looks as a tunnel (reverse U shape). I don't know if i messed something up in Blender. Does this ring a bell? Thank you for your help.

    • @ImagiscopeTech

It's a weird GES thing. I usually add altitude or export object as kml into GES (new version)

  • @Timotheus7
    @Timotheus7 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Love your tutorials. Two questions regarding the kml path: 1) you create a tube that is embedding in all the trackpoints, meaning the bottom half of the tube should be under the ground. Yet, you never explain how to hide that part of the tube. With my renders, the entire tube is showing, which feels weird and ruins the effect. 2) The greenscreen ModifiedKML is in the shape of a continuous T-shape, meaning there is a horizontal top part, and then in the middle there is a vertical part. Additionally, along the path, there are "support" pieces. All of these parts are seen in my alpha mask when my road goes along the edge of a cliff and I'm looking laterally at the path. Am I missing something? Or are there fixes for this? Thanks so much!

Create a plane. Size it to size of the "cross section" you'd like. Convert the plane object to curve. In the path curve, change type of bevel to object, select your new curve (old plane). To align (flatten), go back to new curve and, in edit mode (tab), rotate along z (blue) axis.

@@ImagiscopeTech Hi Rob, sorry to disturb again. The original format of my bike route is in "gpx." I managed to find a website (mygeodata) that coverts such files into KML with trackpoints (i.e. when i import the KML files to Google Earth Studio I see little pins every 2 meters, along with the actual route). This would significantly reduce production time as I intend to animate over 400km in detail and manually adding track points would take at least 10+ hours. The new KML file is about 4MB from the original 920kb GPX file. However, when I tried importing the KML file onto the add-on, an error bar showed up saying there are mistakes in lines 257 and 520, with the cause being "index list out of range." When you have time could you please take a look? I'm sure this would be helpful to many other creators as well. 再次感谢您!

There are also some issues regarding human made terrain (i.e. tunnels, bridges). Some routes would go over things instead of through them. Tip: only put trackpoint where there is expected elevation change - this will save time. The software will slope automatically between trackpoints.

Try exporting the JSON file again from Google Earth Studio - sometimes the data in the first download has some incorrect data. If using blender 3.0, the scrubbing of frames may crash - I'm sure they will fix this with an update. Also, image sequence has better performance in Blender versus a mpeg video file.

I'm working on an update that will alert you if you do not have a trackpoint. Also adding better support for multiple KML files

For terrain (hills, valley)? Most likely not. It's really just tuned for making a path. You can import multiple kml routes but I expect that is not what you are looking for.

Probably not well, the path will be 3D but the background is a rendered image, so it won't function the way you are expecting it to.

You don't have any trackpoints in your JSON file. Put at least one to tell the system where the ground is.

Question: My friend has a TH-cam channel where he Flies Planes around British Columbia Canada with HD video footage and a GoPro Camera attached to the underside of a wing. Here's his channel: th-cam.com/video/evGgRZBvLMw/w-d-xo.html
with his GPS Data can a video be created with elevation view of his flights? and a KML file created to share on his TH-cam Channel. He has many flights around British Columbia? Then plot his Flight Path directly on Google Earth when the KML file is clicked on?
    Thanks

    Thank you so much!
The view at the "th-cam.com/video/J21nqXtFWKw/w-d-xo.html, OR (12:14)" is what I wanted for my project (a water supply distribution network) to present/visualize to staffs/clients.
How can I do this, please?
FYI, the software can produce a .dxf and a shapefile of all the elements in the design (such as pipe layouts as a polyline, junctions as a circle, and a point in the case of shapefile,...)

    • @ImagiscopeTech
      @ImagiscopeTech  3 ปีที่แล้ว

A dxf is not a standard supported file for Blender (there may be add-ons) - you could convert to an obj file

I'm a big fan of your great tutorials. However, when importing my files in to blender, I experienced following issues.
    1. Track point was not shown as a plane object, just after I imported the file. (Annex 01 & 02).
    2. It was noted that the Location of track point always 0,0,0 (Annex 01 & 02).
    3. KML object also not showing in the camera view. However, if I zoom in user perspective view I can see both the track point plane and KML object in this view. (Annex 03).
    4. I also used the follow terrain command but no positive out come yet.
So sorry, If I interrupted your busy schedule. I worked on this two days, but I couldn't figure out the issue. Please help.
Please find the Annex 01, Annex 02 & Annex 03 via this link: drive.google.com/drive/folders/1H5hjSkI0l4QzdOeJlbao08JkwiNRahEb?usp=sharing
    Thanking you in advance.

Looks like a clipping issue. Go to camera then in camera properties make sure max clipping is set higher... I use 1,000-10,000m. You should see it now. This is due to the high altitude of the camera.
