    Loving your vids! You do a great job explaining the gotchas! Are your 3d models publicly available for the shelf box bracket and the corner push tool? Slick!!

    Great vid AJ. I hope you’re not giving away too much shop “inside information.” Have you ever thought about getting into also making some composite parts for homebuilt airplanes...ie. wingtips, engine cowlings, wheel pants, wing and tail fairings, spinners, ducts. The list is almost endless.

      Hey uncle Jerry. I have, but being just me I'm about maxed out. Trying to grow the company is what got me in a pickle a few years ago and don't want to repeat that so I'm happy humming along just me.

    Hey AJ. Thanks for the tour. I found out about you through one of your posts on Track Mustangs and found this channel. A lot of good content. Keep it up.
    One Noob question for you. What do you use as a heating element for your furnaces? P.S. I let the ads run for you.... See I'm investing in your company! LOL

      ROC1ROB little space heaters just like you buy at Walmart haha. Cranked up they get right to the temp needed but still have overrun and tip over sensors.

    Cheers AJ - as a Hobby starter hoping to move into Production this is really useful. If you don't mind, what is your cut bench made out of? Thanks keep those Vids coming.

    Awesome video! I like the addition of some Lean principals you have added! If you haven’t you should watch some of the videos of the Fastcap factory on TH-cam

    Lots of great tips for small scale composite manufacturing in there. I really appreciate you sharing. For laying up large parts like Splitters what material do you use for the flat surface? A least for me, a piece of glass that large would be prohibitively expensive. Is there some alternative material or coating I could use with just an MDF of plywood base?

    The little thing you put inside the carbonfiberroll to make it even.....where do you get it? Really great stuff you produce in here😀👍

      Uline has the standard 3” (I think) core plugs. Rolls that come on weird size tubes I just 3D print what I need.

    Hi. I like yours video. Because they are always professional. Thank you. even I am composite technician, it is very usefull. I have also a workshop, but smaller than yours. Some things I appreciated here like oven. For the moment I don't have it. But would like to have. Where could I find the information how to fabricate it ?

    • @ajhartmanaero
      @ajhartmanaero  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Baia Tour it’s literally just an insulated box. I never did an in depth video on the oven and how I made it. A friend that’s good with electrical should be able to get you going.

    Hey thanks for sharing.
    Would you be willing to share the 3D file you made, to make those Sharpie holders?
    As well as your materials rack. I’d like to build one in my shop and I like your set up.

      In a nutshell, I really didn't enjoy all the headaches of trying to grow the business. So I simplified it, focused on making our core parts the best on the market, and got back to enjoying what I do.

  • @SteveBrownRacing

    Is there a good rule of thumb for how much of a parts cost ends up being the material vs the consumables? I'm thinking carbon / epoxy / core material vs bag / breather cloth / peel ply? How much might that vary depending on the process used?

    • @ajhartmanaero
      @ajhartmanaero  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Steve Brown good question I’m not sure of. I know my total material costs down to a percentage, but there’s so many variables, and depends how much you mess up that can greatly vary.

    Can you get by using 1 of the 7cfm pumps for a hood? Or should I get a 10cfm?

    Been making some CF parts with a PTM&W infusion resin but the parts are warping in the hot sun. We have been playing with post curing but everything seems to need to be way hotter than 130f to properly post cure. Would you mind sharing what resin you use?
