I love how you don't add all the extra fluff in the carbonfiber process like bag connectors, catch pots and other parts that are not needed to do a project. Thank you for being real. I'm working on reproducing all the parts on my 2016 shelby gt350r in carbonfiber.
No I'm not yet but I will on TH-cam. I am in Houston TX and I own RLC plumbing, Cole Construction, Bellas lawn care, and HL Auto Group. I'm about to start TH-cam for RLC tips and tricks from a Master Plumber to practice my Content and editing then I will shoot the carbonfiber process never done it before but failure in the process is just one way not to do something. That being said wish me luck..
You'll have second thoughts about catch pots being 'fluff' when your expenses vacuum pump gets gummed up with epoxy. AJ can afford not to have one because his pump is on the other side of the room and the lines can take in a huge amount of epoxy before they reach the pump.
Great intro vid! Thank you for taking the time to record, edit & post these vids for the TH-cam community! As a product developer, I especially appreciate your channel. Just subscribed!
Great job AJ! I love how you make these processes so easy to understand. I also admire that you are a racer hunting for solutions and then share what you learn. keep up the good work!
This is very fascinating, you really didn't have to record this for us and you did it anyway. I always found the properties of carbon fiber and the process behind making it into parts to be fascinating! I ordered a set of canards from you back in june and just got them yesterday, they are going on my 08 Mustang GT. You are one of the only people that makes proper aero for the S197 cars. I have the car up in the air doing a clutch, motor mount, and drive shaft upgrade and I might as well take the bumper off now to put this and a seperate splitter and some led lights on. I ordered the canards raw because I had plenty of clear coat on hand and already sprayed them :) Your work is very impressive! I will be sure to send you pics when my car is all done
A quick question. Can we use pva in infusion as the mould isn't that bright? And if yes how many layers do u advice to apply? Btw I love your content 🫶🏻
Got a question, i havent done this, looking forward to, when you press the inlate hose of the resin ( when its all ready wet out ) what should i do with the vacum hose?? Clamp it to? Or i should leave the vacum on till it fully cures? Just asking cuz i cant find that answer, well that it, great videos man
Great video! 2 questions - What multiplier do you typically use to estimate the amount of resin to mix for an infusion? And, where do you purchase your Chem Trend release agent? Thanks!
Just wondering, as a beginner what vacuum pump would you recommend. I’m doing small car interior projects. Nothing major. I’m currently skinning my e92 because of how through and informative your videos are, thank you.
Hi there, does the vacuum chamber lid have too be tempered glass? Or will acrylic lids be ok ? I’m wondering if the resin gases will cause a chemical reaction making the acrylic lid crack?
I have a question I build remote control cars my question when making a mold on something that's more "U" shaped would it better to make the mold from the inside
@@ajhartmanaero the thought just crossed my mind. I understand. Hey thank you very much for sharing this information. I've done a lot of fiber glass repair but not vacuum infusion or vacuum bagging. Thank you

Oh nice. You posting progress on the GT350 stuff anywhere? I picked up a gt350 late last year but still haven’t touched it.

Thank you AJ for explaining the pletes. Hahaha sorry for my spelling 😅. I was wondering why they were there
I really enjoy your "how to" content as well as the Aero stuff. Keep it up :)
AJ, thanks for going over all the small tricks I'm sure it took you years to learn.

Best infusion video by far dude. Do you have to leave the vacuum running the entire time while curing?
I do but some people don’t. Up to you
What kind of resin do u use? Epoxy or polyester?
Good job👍
hello I have a question, when it is curing, do you leave the vacuum on? also how do you have the oven or curing setup, is it heat lamps?
I assume since your using that 3M Super 77 it doesn't cause any issues with discoloration, or epoxy flow on the surface of the clear coat?
We learn A lots AJ cant thank you enough 👍
Untuk 500 gram carbon, berapa gram epoxy dan hardner yang di butuhkah ?

Hi mahn how do you calculate how much epoxy you need for the infusion, and whats should the cps be for infusion expoxy
Great video. Ty
As you let it cure do you leave the pump on? Also for how long
Hi , can I ask what vacuum pump you use ?
What is a good cps number for infusion also where do you get flow nets iv looked and can’t find them

My parts never release that easily 😂
Are your moulds made with poly, vinyl, or epoxy gel coat?
Poly
@@ajhartmanaero can you add/create a lesson on creating the mold?
@@matthewmarino4439 yes. One day. I’ve been so busy making parts, I haven’t made a mold in probably 2 years!
@@ajhartmanaero please do!
Please could you make a mould in a video?
I did recently. Check my videos.
Where do u get ur carbon fiber cloth ?
Sollercomposites.com
What line clamps did you use?
just added them to the list in the description but these are what I use, just a different brand. amzn.to/3pIIG4a
How many hour before its cure
Whatever your epoxy data sheet says.
Stretchlon is way more forgiving
I would advise against stretchlon for infusions. It’s so stretchy it sucks into the flow net channels and really slows up infusion time.
Do you leave your vacuum pump running the entire time it’s curing?
I do. At least until the epoxy “sets”.
@@ajhartmanaero are there specific pumps for this?
@@ludjgdrkp5251 the exact one I use is here: amzn.to/3P5NYBG
What is that spray in 4:07
3m 77 Spray Tack to keep the carbon in place
