Quick tip: I saw that your Forcefeedback is going red a lot of time, that means it is clippping around corners.
The solution is to reduce the strength in the iRacing settings. Maybe this helps!

Great review - I own the R9 and FSR wheel, combined with the CRP pedal set. A great package.
You should ask Moza for their other products to review/test.
One thing with Moza R9 is: just be prepared to wait for a month before the base ships. Both of my wheels have been sitting here for 2 weeks, and the base just finally shipped yesterday...
I guess it is because China was in new year vacation last month. Almost all manufacturers and carriers would stop working almost a month. Moreover, their lockdown has just ended, they need some time to lift and resume.
Fanatec isn’t any better atm. Had my wheel and pedals for over a month now and my CSL DD base isn’t gonna ship till around mid March last I checked.

Or............... Find MicroCenter if you have any nearby. For me MicroCenter is 15 minutes away and you can get it right away for like 649.99 US$

Great review JD! Very excited as I have an R5 bundle (with formula wheel extension that looks a lot like the iR-04 wheel) on the way soon! Be great to see more sim racing equipment reviews from you in future. One thing I may have missed though: will you make the Moza your "daily driver" from now on? Or is the Fanatec that little bit better?

One of the biggest things you missed in your review is: while the display is absolutely adequate, in the age when most platforms are changing to OLED displays, the TFT is a bit underwhelming. But much more than that, the display is not customizable at all. You can't create or add screens, you can't customize the data sources for the screens, so if the screen works for you in whatever game, great, if it does not, you don't have the ability to customize the displays at all, or even the data source for one of the Moza-provided ones. And there is no way to make custom displays to fit the information you want to see in game potentially all in one screen, you can switch them on the fly, sure, but that's hardly the best experience. And while I bought an R9 with an FSR because I believe the company may eventually provide tooling like this, or we may reverse engineer the protocol and possibly integrate it into SimHub. Moza may be peer pressured by other reviewers to do so to be truly competitive, but there is no guarantee or obligation from them to do so at all.
And if you are providing feedback to Moza about the wheel, this lack of display screen and data source customization for the FSR wheel is something I feel you cannot omit.
100% agree, and this is from someone that love my base and wheel. But I bought the wheel for the buttons/ shifters which are very good and integrate with every app well. The screen is a software issue and I think that’s probably worst feature about the wheel and honestlyyyyy I’ll take it
It is not customisable, but does it show ERS and DRS in Iracing? Brake bias, ERS deployment mode, tyre temps? I heard it was coded for F1 games only 🥲. I want a formula wheel for Iracing. I just want it to work, even if I can't customize it.
Using MOZA R9 + GS wheel and love it! Sometimes the software crashes tho (then you lose FFB) hoping they fix it.
I got the Moza R9 with the CS wheel and the srp-loadcell pedals and It was a little bit over a 1000 bucks. The fanatic bundle with the boost kit was around the same price if I remember correctly. But this was almost a year ago.
Been waiting for this video. Definitely my top choice for a DD. Does anyone know if the r16 performs the same? I know it's initial release had issues but did Moza fix it all with firmware updates?

Wait, Moza wheels work with the F1 22 game again? Codemasters added ‘official compatibility’ with Moza in August last year that ended up causing some annoying issues (always looking left in garage, directional buttons not working to navigate menu buttons). I ended up going back to F1 21 because of that
is this one a good upgrade over a clubsport 2.5?
Good review, but sad you didn't talk about the LCD screen information compatibility. Does it show DRS, ERS and other F1 functions in Iracing? I heard it's programmed for F1 games 😭
got R9 + FSR too. really like it. additional feature for FSR is direct connection to any base throught moza hub. if you can, try simagic alpha devices, it's also in battle between fanatec csl dd and moza r9.
I recently got myself the FX Pro with Alpha Wheelbase after testing this stuff on the SimRacing Expo in Germany. Tbh the best decision I’ve ever made for SimRacing! I am amazed by Simagic, can only recommend it tbf

When Moza came out with R16, it was a disaster. It worked well only in iRacing. To be fair, when DD1/2 were released, they were a huge disappointment too. But firmware updates changed everything. So when Moza released R9, everyone was skeptical, rightly so, but they knock it out of the park. And we finally have some competition in ~1K market segment. I wish they made FSR Display SimHub compatible. And from what I'm hearing/reading, they still have some quality consistency problems. However, what they did do very well, is that FFB equalizer. It's straightforward what you're doing, and I wish others manufacturers would come up with something similar.
May I ask why have you decided against triple screen set up?
I know you use a console aswell as pc I just wonder what you think about it
Its too far to look, especially when doing competative racing. 3 screens is mainly for cockpit view, when hes on the halo, there is no point.
His setup is probably made for the T cam in F1 game
Is the CSL DD Better than the R9 in terms of feeling?
I was able to 'feel' the rear end break loose really well with both bases, which to me is the more important thing. I found the R9 to be more alive but the CSL DD to be smoother. The R9 felt aggressive over certain road features and more snappy over curbs. The CSL DD feels like there's a suspension in the car, and I can feel more detail in the bumps. The Fanatec Formula Wheel 2.5x also has motors in the wheel, which probably contributes to how the tiny details feel smoother (to me).

Nice one! I was already coming up with ideas in my head for dampening the sound as JD was talking about it. Have a Moza wheel on the way and since I often play later in the evening, it would need to be a bit quieter than this!
Looking to buy a new wheel for F1 2022 and I don't know what to get. Got any advice?

I know that it's a small detail, but the Fanatec button caps are absolute crap. Less than a year after buying my Formula V2 wheel, almost all the buttons have either cracked or just stopped sticking onto the buttons. Now I just run the wheel mostly naked when it comes to button caps.

Hey, just received my r9 + fsr wheel a few days ago.
Very happy. But i do have a problem on f1 22.
When im in the menu or just before taking controll of the car, the game act Like i was pressing a left stick or « watch behind » imput. (The camera wont stop turning around the car in the sélection menu, and before the race (or any other playable moment begin) the « watch behind camera » is automaticaly activated. All of that even when i un-bind every commands. This is really annoying.
If someone had the same problem or now how to figure it out it would be very helpfull ^^
To fix this, you need to go into the F122 games folder where all of the presets are loaded and delete ALL of the moza-related presets. Then load the game and setup the controller as a custom controller. You will need to map every button one by one, but it's worth it to know which button does what. You'll also very quickly realize how awful the F122 menu system is...

Raslution wheel base convertor ive had my r9 gs wheel hooked up to my ps5 for the past 3 months...
For just under a grand for both pieces, that's honestly not bad at all imo

I fail to understand what you would do with it on Xbox. Last time I checked there aren't any real sim options over on xbox. Just get a pc.

@@scott4207 He's talking about **** hardware costing over €1000,- just for a wheelbase and wheel. I think money is not the real deal breaker here buddy. 2nd hand pc or refurbished one can get you a whole damn lot for under €1000,-. I just don't get why anyone would want to buy equipment in this price range if they don't even have a proper machine to play it on.
I wish they would make a USB variant of the wheel so you could use it on other wheel bases. I would get their entire range of wheels if they did this. I just think these companies are hindering their sales as well as reach when they make peripherals proprietary to their ecosystem like this. So frustrating

I have the CSL DD with boost kit. It has far more torque than I need on F1, so much that I literally couldn't drive in a straight line over 150mph. 9nm is more than enough to say the least lol
Also - being worried about bothering your neighbors with gear shifting is hilarious. true sim racer for lyfe

You need a new cooling fan, when I had mine I had the same problem.
Is the fan turning. I replaced mine with a Noctua (25 dollars) and the wheel can run for hours and is much more quiet than before
