Thank you for the Owies review Pommy. I re-watched the 2023 highlights reel from him, and 1/3 of his goals are stolen from Harry and Charlie.
He has plenty of good crumbs, but he also has plenty of moments where he is
a) Blocking the leading lane for the talls or
b) Outright standing infront of Harry and Charlie and taking their marks.
We need to to either sit in the goal square BEHIND charlie, or sit just outside of the 50 to swoop in after a ball is dropped.
He can be that guy! But right now he isn't.
Deffo no knock on him hes perfect if you have creative goal kickers but for me we need eggs in the out of nothing goal kicker and the pressure which we have
If Carlton want another senior list spot they should delist Fantasia and pick him up in the rookie draft. Can’t see many clubs that would grab him from us as a DFA or before our pick in the rookie draft
cant delist a contracted player as you pay them out, so it goes onto player payments, hence why you never see it, and when you do its early retirement as its a different methodology! so by doing that you have removed an ability to add a player as lets say 300k is Fantasia, now you are up for 300k and 150k for a draftee

I’m thinking of doing similar to what north did with Jarod Polec. I understand the money still remains on the salary cap but just like the idea of gaining an extra senior list spot. Would love two picks before the campo compo
Option 2. However sceptical in why durdin was given a contract instead of Owies. However the more the time flies by, the more of a chance that owies will probably be traded.
Well its how the contracts fall, Like 28 years old next year vs 22 so I think Durdin deffo has a higher ceiling, his formative years are done, get the body right! all the chips have to be in on inness as we cant trade out 20 players like most think
Do you think Voss's plan is to get Houston, then push Saad and Doctery Midfield and that will keep Williams up forward?
Genuinely don't believe it's a legit rumour. Doc I'd imagine stays wing forward as plan was pre season. Saad I can't see moving, history suggests you move behind the ball in your 30s, I'd say if it happens saad houston half forward Newman McGovern back pocket, cincotta boyd out of favour, cowan 7th on bench 😳

@@azzaprime7257 I honestly do not believe its Voss etc its identical in wording to Sholl last year where they said the same rubbish, linked it, I think its he wants to leave and its opening the Vic clubs with Stock to trade for him

Absolutely love your work champ. luke trainor played backline in the vic metro, which means he's not as good a player as the key forwards, we need a quality keyback so the smart thing to do is get the best available key forward (because he's much better at catching), and play him keyback in the AFL. Hopefully jobe shanahan is available at pick 11, and get rosas jr from GC. Thats my opinion, but i haven't done anywhere near the homework you have pommy.
Thanks mate. I'm really hot on Luke, my issue with converting players is its always against the nature. Know we love doing it but model for mine in world sport is target skills you lack and back your development on skills they fall short in. While haynes is on the list find the closest carbon copy and go hard

Genuinely it would be after due diligence, still polling in the top 10 whihc makes me happy but obviously concerns, like injury wise aside from the concussion hes been fairly steady, just got to dot the i's but like in the example if he slid its a Curnow pick you cannot turn it down

Makes sense with owies, carlton holding off so long he not solid in their minds, head of pack again pom, hope we can organize to keep him though. Plethora pom, had to grab the dictionary. Do we need suspect concussions players again. The players we have have to ,be the ones to get us there so we have to hope mots can improve Zak gets good year on park and the young blokes keep improving. Haynes fully fit pom how good have we been at that for years, option two for me. Where do we get to see the merch pom to have a brouse. Love your work mate Go pom Go blues.
It's a tough one with Luke, he plays that crash and bash type style, so I think it will put people off but..... will be something you work through. Be one of them if he's your price you bite the bullet types

You convinced me of how important goal kicking mids are, I wo7ld have thought that would be the way to go considering the supposed depth of this draft. They could potentially play the small forward early days. What's ur thoughts on Taj Hotton?
Love Taj, Also love Tom Gross! issue is List spots at this stage we would have to trade out again which again is tough to do
I'm not clear on ur strategy here. U want to use pick 11 on Joe Berry. Seems a waste to draft a small forward when there's a few mid forwards available around our pick if they're harder to draft. In a money ball situation I would have thought a mid forward should always be prioritised because they could become one or the other
@troystewart4746 think based on this strategy to follow Austin's. Generally takes out what he's lost and buys it in again. Think Lij with another year can be the goal kicking mid, and some outside time for Walsh would see the goal a game come from him ala last time he played more loose

Bit surpised about Martin not even getting traded, but he's a free agent, and spent like Fantasia Pants. Owies is worth keeping, because all the others are complete garbage and Moir still raw.
Just zero value there. Freo or whoever won't want to give anything due to risk, now they can load his contract with pay as you play type bonuses so fairer to all parties.

If it's for draft I'm in! Full Caveat 100% against houston for list management reasons! But would probably need a bit more as genuinely trading down requires overs from team trading up

cant compare in that avenue, totally different types of forwards, and Bobby was 1) huge ceiling type player, 22 and publicly declared to move to Victoria, we have to compare apples to apples cant throw in a melon

Small forward is a small forward, we fell asleep at the wheel on that one, and why would Owies want to be classified as a rookie as you mentioned, no one wants to be downgraded
@@AceF1910 Well again to point i just made, if no one has shown interest (been on table for a while North is the only option) hes 28 vs Bobby Hill who was a pup, It would be a case if the Value aint there for Carlton they wont do it and Rookie him (as shown cant bring everyone in i.e Pick 11 and Ben Camp without a senior going) Everyone is making out Owies (i like him) is Betts 2.0 crossed with Papley, Rookie deals arent different to Senior its the portion of wage off books, so it would be up to him, play for north 18th to 15th or play finals football at Carlton
@@PommyinOZ owies is all method and little forward craft/instinct. i like him but he doesn't threaten opposition. really motlop needs a fire lit under his tookers. williams looks like a true small/medium forward. having said that owies has proven to be a clutch kick which carlton sorely missed this year. i still think we need another key position back not another half back flanker. that seems to be carlton's fav past time

Houston dont need stupid! Owies best small forward we have and they want to trade him! Fantasia was not needed! Durdin only 22 but hasnt done much in three years. Injuries? Inness over to you! Voss doesnt get up to speed with the modern game. Overlap run and some! Means listening and or changing line coaches! Brad lyoyd were are you my friend! If you see same same next year we will finish 10- 14! There must be change coaching psyche etc etc. Peace out!
