Thanks for watching. This blower was purchased from craigslist and unfortunately it was severely neglected. It was left outside for a long time and now the pull rope won't retract. The fix was a bit more involved than I was hoping for.

I would of ran to the place and bought it for $10.00. Like you said, if it wouldn’t run you still have valuable parts to sell, so you would of Made a lot more than 10 bucks. Good job.

In Australia, this blower is branded as a talon, mine had the same issue. It lost compression and I threw it out.

For 10 bucks it' s a bargain... I have a Craftsman profesional series backpack blower and when I first tried to start it, I've noticed that it won't start, so then I saw the problem: the fuel line was broken right at the fuel inlet, so I pulled the fuel line just a little bit to install it and cut the broken hose and Voila... It works like new

Thanks for posting this. I have a McCulloch Air Stream Backpacker Blower which appears to be the same blower as yours that I needed to reinstall the starter rope, and your instructions were exactly what I needed to do this. BTW, $10 was a good investment for this.

Are bad pack blowers more powerful since they have bigger engines and a bigger air intake.
I don't have any scientific data to prove it but I believe so.
I hate dealing with those recoil springs. Most of the time I just take the starter recoil off the machine and let my dealer fix it I don't have the patients now a days in my old age. LOL

My uncle have this blower just like it his grandson was using put straight gas in and run it blowing leaves about 40 minutes and blew up the motor

yep i,d buy it as long as it,s got a very healthy spark excellent compression and does not look in that bad of shape either for sure.
Yes that was my feelings as well. The picture wasn't very good but it looked un-abused in it.

The only good thing about this blower is the light weight. When I worked with a lawn company I had to use a Redmax blower and after an hour of using it, my back felt like it was going to break. That is also why I prefer suitcase blowers

Yes I would. $10 is usually my max for non running home owner quality 2 stroke equipment.
That's pretty much my max depending on the quality

i have a leaf blower i found and for soem reason it doesnt retract fully it retracts but not fully all the time theres no break in the spring i was wondering if oil or somethingneeds ot be put in the spring itself i did that today with a new pull chord and it eventually started...there has to be a bigger issue it seems to retracting system doesnt seem to rretract all the way after a pull its like its getting stuck for lack of oil or grease in there by the coil spring...sometimes it goes it majority of the way tother times it doesnt...as i said the spring is all in one piece not breaks in the mid or anything i have a feeling thats the culprit maybe it needs a new one or soemthing . i must be missing soemthing even the new ones look the same as this one ..the spring also comes out of the metal housing like i think others do if twsted too mcuh other than that everything looks fine...but if the blowqer works idk might as well just keep it as is it runs good but the pull cord is an issue not always retracting fully
I would replace the spring and oil it at the same time.
@@HomeGaragechannel yeah im going to do that i just bought the spring and ill spray it with wd 40 or oil i guess..ive taken this thing apart so many times i swear i feel so dub i knew the problem from the beginning but keep putting it back together and taking it apart its very unlike me..but new hobby new thing i think it'll work good this time..i didnt want to spend money and not get it back form selling but if im just going to do it as a hobby then i dont care really and ill put it to use.

@@HomeGaragechannel ok i have another question...im pretty new to small engine repair but so far ive fixed everyone ive tackled but ive come across a similar problem in 2 lawnmowers and this current project of an old weed eater...tehy run great when they start but for whatever reason they wont start unless i spray the filter with carb cleaner...the lawnmowers are no problem as its simple...but the weed eater just ends up stalling after awhile..i replaced the carberator and new gas tank and gas lines and spark plug but why is it doing that? i can thelp but to think im missing soemthing as 3 items have had this same issue. it'll run only whn sprayed with carb cleaner in the filter.
Depending on the mowers, its usually a choke or Bowl gasket issue. If you done all that to a weed eater, and it still has problem, I would check the compression number for the engine.

I value my time at $50 an hour, so, time spent was $75, plus the cost of the blower, plus the cost of the spring comes to about $87. Not a bad price for a working back pack blower, but, not a good price for spare parts.

you can sell them on Ebay but for me, I use the parts to fix other equipment.
