    Wow thanks for that. Didn't realise that the terminals were simply push-fit. That saved me pulling the holder apart and soldering them.

    How do you get the wires back out for maintenance? Everybody wants to show you how to install it but nobody shows how to take it apart and remove the wires.

    Thank you sooo much for the video!! I'm living in Denmark and bought a lampholder online, when it arrived it looked like none of the ones I was used to from my home country and I didn't know how to google for them!! Somehow I ended up in this video after half an hour of reading in blogs, and it was very easy to do afterwards. Appreciated it a lot 🔥🔥🔥

      Thanks for this video! I am trying to wire a lampholder that is exactly the same, but it says that you need to solder the tips of the wire first (if it is that "multiple thin wires together" type ). Did you actually do it or is it unnecessary if you twist it hard enough?

    • @nickhammond8545
      @nickhammond8545  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Cuiositycola you might be able to twist the ends enough to push them into the holder but I doubt it. You might need to order some of these...www.amazon.co.uk/White-0-75mm-Bootlace-Ferrule-Pack/dp/B07BR4VYMH/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=ferrule+0.75&qid=1617978216&sr=8-3
      You would then put these on the copper ends and have to crimp them on with a pair of pliers and these will then push in

    In technique, every detail counts: if you don't have a match when you need it, you will suffer from the cold. And how simple is a match...? The film explained to me how to mount the new nozzles with clips... . It proves once again that even the simplest installations can be "difficult" if you don't know the details. They actually make the difference. Thanks.

    • @nickhammond8545
      @nickhammond8545  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, If you mean get the wires up the lamp. It can be tricky. I would either use a bit of tape at the end to make it more streamlined and stronger. I sometimes use a bit of the outer flex to put on the end of the 2 bare ends. Hope that is what you were meaning?

    • @iain8837
      @iain8837 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@nickhammond8545 No, I mean, once you put the wires into the socket, if you want to take them back out again. My workmate has this fitting and wants to shorten the cable, I can't get the wires out, they are clamped in and there is no release. Cutting and soldering is possible, but not as near.

    What gauge is that cord? And is there not a ground slot?

    • @nickhammond8545
      @nickhammond8545  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm UK based so its 0.75mm cord. 2 core so just live and neutral. No earth as the lampholder is plastic.
      I think for US you would want 18awg but don't hold me to that!

    • @nickhammond8545

      Hi,
      You need something like a big safety pin to push the metal tabs in the rectangular hole and with that you should be able to pull the cable free

      Each side does have 2 sockets so it might be worth trying the other one. Just make sure it is the same side and not the opposite side

  • @wazy1852
    @wazy1852 ปีที่แล้ว

    You forgot the screws that attach the wires in place.
    I think the click sounds isn't enough to fix the wires in place.
    Anyways, thanks for this informative video!

    • @nickhammond8545

      I do prefer the screw terminals too but these are push fit ones so the wires need to have solid soldered ends but they seem to work a treat.

    • @nickhammond8545
      @nickhammond8545  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, are you in the UK? If it is 2cm that could be tricky finding a lampholder as the UK bayonet ones are about 28mm I think the US have an E12 lampholder but the ring would also need to be 28mm...

    e como destrava o fio do conector?

    • @nickhammond8545
      @nickhammond8545  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      você precisa empurrar um alfinete grosso ou agulha no orifício retangular para empurrar o contato de metal para o lado. em seguida, ele libera a ponta do fio.

    Whats about the theard green cable?

    • @nickhammond8545
      @nickhammond8545  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, the green cable is earth, for these particular lampholders it isn't needed. However if you have a lampholder that has that third connection and is made of metal it's super important!
