Keep on making great videos, but these meaningless "it's not class leading" points you kept harping on really ruined the whole take, and unnecessarily downplayed how good the truck is.
Right, it all comes down to what works and doesn't fall apart. Sadly these days all the big three have varying major issues that cause them to be in the shop and if its not mechanical its electrical.

My 24 LTZ came with auto 4 whl drive. It was an absolute must have for me. I didn't like the 20" wheels it came with and swapped them out for 18's and a better tire, Falken at4. Unfortunately had to practically give the stock ones away. I think the bucket seats are ok, not great. I don't care about off road and love the independent front suspension. It drives like a car on the highway even while towing.
Stock rims can be hard to give away. I sold my original rims off my jeep when I upgraded to some Willys takeoffs and no one wanted them. Eventually sold them for like $75 for a set of 5 just to get them out of the garage.
I am curious as to what size of 18" tires you went with and assuming it was an aftermarket wheel, the issue is they almost always have more negative offset causing the tires to stick out further. That might not be a big deal for those that live in a pavement environment and don't have sand and rocks spread on winter roads but its a big deal for those that are forced to deal with that and rural gravel roads. But aside from that and depending on the size of tire you went with of course, did you notice a ride improvement over the lower side wall factory 275/65R20 tires ?. Also is that a gas or diesel as that can have a bearing on the ride and also depending on what front torsion bars the truck came with.
@@charlesb4267 I went with LT285/75R18. They're 35" and at absolute full lock in reverse I can hear a tiny bit of rub but nothing to worry about. The wheels were from discount tire, Raceline brand and they assured me they were the same spec as stock and they don't look like they stick out any further than the stock ones at all. Ride is a little better for sure, that was the main reason for the swap. I thought the 20" wheels contributed a harsh ride on small bumps and cracks in the road. I test drove a work truck model before I bought mine and swore it rode better. Truck is gas. I don't know anything about torsion bars, please share.

It’s funny, I think the single option 6.6 Duramax is the best part, cause you don’t have to pay more for the same engine. They make one, and they put all their R&D dollars into it. You don’t get skimped for not paying the H.O. premium
You "HATE" that jt doesn't have class leading towing and power? Who cares? One of them will always be on top on paper. Just use it. It is perfectly capable for anything you will use it for. I doubt you would even notice much difference in real world use. Just enjoy it.
Thanks for he update on the new Chevy. Seems like a lot of the stuff you didn't like would be easy to avoid if you ordered or found one that had the options you wanted.
I have the same truck. The tires throw stones at the paint. I already had about a dozen stone chips on the body at 600 miles. I’m putting a ppf on and got bigger front mud flaps. Hopefully that helps
When it comes to gravel driving ( actual gravel roads ) they all have issues which is understandable, installing substantial mud flaps front and rear, some paint protection film, and non electric running boards that help hold down the rocks from the front tires.
Why would you want variable power options? You only need one. There already is a huge $10k+ premium just to have the diesel. Having additional power options just allows the manufacturer to charge more to the consumer. They do not have the consumer best interest in mind.
Bragging rights are not a valid reason for a hate list. Also, nobody would buy a 3/4 to tow 18000 pounds, so your hate on the towing number is ludicrous. You guys can do better!
@Tge… I take 40-hour road-trips regularly in my 2023 GMC 3500. Cross country road trips that lasts 3-4 days and the seats are completely fine. I use it for road trips only and I have 45,000 miles in it in less that 2 years. Seat comfort is not an issue for me. I have a work truck and cloth seats though.

Hate, is an extremely strong term to use for something you chose to purchase. You knew the Trailboss, the size, protection, or lack there of, wheel size, etc. It's like buying a corvette and complaining about the leg room!
@@JoshuaOverman Not if you're coming from driving a midsize car. It would be an adjustment. I've seen some of these huge trucks navigating drive thrus and parking lots around here. It's not as simple as a smaller car.
Rear Electric Locker should be an option on every truck in 2024. i dont care if its a 3k dollar option on a work truck, it should still be an option. if anything , its the guys buying the single cab long bed trucks for the fields that need it most.
Totally agree with you on the size. That's the biggest complaint I have with mine. I wish there was some way to have my truck with the dimensions of a 2019.
I had a 2022 and my biggest complaint was the smaller fuel tank where as Ford and Ram offer 50 gallon tank options where as Chevy was only 30 something. Then that problem was amplified when it got terrible fuel mileage towing.
Let’s be honest here TFL, if it weren’t for two huge screens and emissions that ruck would be $12,000-$15,000 cheaper. $78k MSRP for a work truck with a few options is NOT value. For $78k I’d require a lifetime powertrain and emissions warranty. Hopefully it’s treats you guys better than it looks 😂
That ball hitch in the bed sits really high from what I can see? I know that having several trucks that we tow with that having a standard ball is critical. Really looking forward to seeing how this will work.
I have that exact same truck. And it wasn't a bad purchase for a 2024 Trail boss diesel at 68,500$. Only difference is mine does not have the fancy camera system I only have the single camera looking back I've already put almost 24,000 miles on it this year, I put my triple axle 32 foot gooseneck flatbed on it pulling my John Deere 650k dozer Trailer and dozer pushes about 31,000 pounds. It has no problem pulling it around so I don't know why everybody's always talks about needing class leading horsepower and torque, if you can pull 25% above your gross without any problem whatsoever not having that extra 20 hp or hundred foot pounds of torque is not that meaningful unless you're dealing with 200 hp and 500 foot pounds of torque yes you needed the more power back then but today when you're scratching 1000 foot pounds a torque and right at 500 hp that's not even a selling point to me I traded off a Ford f350 three-quarter ton diesel it was only two years old with 80,000 miles and it literally had been in the shop probably 15 times . That piece of junk left me on the side of the road at least seven times. Don't get me wrong it had plenty of power but the reliability of that Ford diesel was pure junk
That sounded like a horrible nightmare you had with the F350, so were most of the problems you had revolving around the engine or also the emissions system ?. I have in fact ordered a gas GM HD 3500 for the simple fact that I don't want to deal with all the emissions crap failing on a truck that will be past warranty or at least the theory is that I will hang onto it for a long time. I don't have major weight long distance towing plans as otherwise I would have gone the duramax route but living in northern Canada means lots of cold weather and diesel emissions do not like that nor any shorter runs. There are hardly any gas trucks with a higher trim on lots so I had no choice but to order if I wanted a gas, lots of diesels to be had on lots ... oh like 140000.00 dollar Denali Ultimate's as that is what one GM dealer up here is asking.
I used to install leather seats removing the cloth covers. Cloth gives more so they are always softer. The solution is to put less dense foam when leather is used. Not sure why GM has not figured this out yet??
People complained their old seats didn’t hold up I think is why they changed it but now it’s to hard. I rather just go back to soft seats and have it wear out after 100k mikes like the cat eye Chevys did.
That’s a real shame about the seats. For that money, not loving the seats is a non-starter. Heck, when I bought my $15k pre-owned Civic, not loving the seats would have ended it. I know you’re not the only driver of this truck but operator comfort seems like a super high priority.
The very first "upgrade" you NEED to do, get rid of those rancho shocks, they're NOT the Rancho's of yesteryear, these are bottom of the barrel shocks, invest in a nice set of Bilsteins, front and rear... The first time you open that multi-flex tailgate and you have a draw bar in, you'll HATE that multi-flex tailgate, ask me how I know...
I thought these tailgates were so gimmicky until I bought a 2019 f250. I'm 5'10" and sometimes I struggle to climb into the bed, usually have to climb on the wheels. I could use one of those tailgates lol.
Hey guys I like the truck but what you did to do is purchase. Banks CoolRunner Oil Pan for the Duramax, before you change the oil. Watch the banks video about this new product that they put out because I don’t think you wanna have a quart of dirty oil left in the oil pan and overtime. Watch the oil ruin the engine.😊
The GM seats are harder than ford for sure but I would imagine they are going to last 10x longer but I can see how its a deal breaker for some. My 23 AT4 seats are firm and I had to rent a F150 for a few days and the seats were a lot softer but they were already slanted towards the door and worn in only a few years and since I find the GM seats to fit my body good, the stiffness with longevity is okay with me. They should fix it for a happy medium tho.
Ram us getting rid of the standard Cummins and will only have the High Output as their "standard" option for the diesel starting 2025 (assuming they actually do whats been rumored). Whether you want more power or torque is a different story, but not having mutiple power levels shoudpnt be your hate on this.
Can you do a service video for the front end grease fittings (tie rods etc.). I am not seeing when to do this service in my manual,,, I own a 2024 2500 ZR2..
A good rule of thumb is at your oil change. There are 9 fittings. Remove the skid plate for easier access. You will need a 18-24” flexible hose. There are 3 around each front wheel and three in the “middle” on the linkages. Two are up a ways and a bit harder to get to.
@@garysarratt1GM issued a recall for diesel engine 10 speed transmissions. However, the recall is not a fix, just a software update to prevent rear wheels from locking up. Moreover, I have just traded in my 3 year old Silverado with gas engine. The 10 speed transmission started acting up at 90k.

wish I had your experience with ford cause my 2023 f250 is an absolute pos multiple issues and terrible customer service from ford im looking to trade it off for a duramax gmc
If I recall correctly, the first IFS trucks from GM were the 1st generation S-10 / S-15 trucks and Blazer / Jimmys back in the 80s. I think they came out in 1983.
In the full size line, IFS was introduced on the GMT400 platform for the 1988 model year.
All five of the buyers who have money for this truck will be happy!
Good morning! Great content! I would like to see the TFL team buy older diesels. Dump money into them to try and restore them as close as possible to new again. Then do real world testing. For an example 6.5 Detroit, 12 Valve Cummins, and 7.3 powerstroke.
@@rafterktbcattle3022 it could bring a whole new angle for their team. 100% agree
Look into the Cybertruck accident in Piedmont, CA. It looks to be a single car accident where the vehicle caught fire after the collision. Killing three, and a someone that was behind them after the accident stopped and pulled one badly injured person out. Before the flames got to intense.
not here to defend the ct but people burn to death in cars weekly
5:46 - "Very stable" ride translates to "no chance of 'death wobble' " which can happen on a solid axle truck. I still hear about Ford death wobble.
Hate the fact that you all have one and I can't afford one! The truck is awesome, but I agree with your dislikes. C'mon GM!
The auto transfer case prolly isn't available on the trail boss so people don't try to use auto off roading and overheat the clutches inside the transfer case. The 1500 ram rebel was the same way because of the heat generated off roading.
These are more "bummer" than hate. I'd say a hate is a deal breaker.. Not an annoyance.
This is amazing!!! If I had the money this would be a top contender for me, despite having absolutely zero use for it.
Skid plate for the def tank but not the gas tank. I’m guessing that’s an EPA mandate lol
Could just be position of the tanks. I wheel my f150 but I'm holding off on a gas tank skid because I rarely get anywhere close to the tank on obstacles.
Dude, love y'all's channel, but you are WAAAY too tied up with this "Class Leading" obsession. Who cares? Too many people end up with an inferior truck for what they need just to have the "class leading horsepower" or "class leading towing rating" when that has ZERO to do with how well the truck works for you. Keep on making great videos, but these meaningless "it's not class leading" points you kept harping on really ruined the whole take, and unnecessarily downplayed how good the truck is.
Right, it all comes down to what works and doesn't fall apart. Sadly these days all the big three have varying major issues that cause them to be in the shop and if its not mechanical its electrical.
if you had gotten the trail boss in the LTZ, you would've had four wheel auto
@@chrismarbrey9678 exactly why I bought SLT from GMC....and few other std features

Better off going up a trim than loading one below it
What I like about it, it’s a cool looking truck and that You have it. What I hate about it is that You have it, I want one 😊
My #1 hate would be the ludicrous price. That goes for all new vehicles
It’s not a big deal.
@@charlesb4267 he may have just bought a set of takeoffs so that would keep them tucked in.
@@backwoodstherapy I will find out the low down if he answers ! ( the fact he did not like the look of the factory 20" wheels probably means he would not like the factory 18" wheels either ... just my guess )
It’s funny, I think the single option 6.6 Duramax is the best part, cause you don’t have to pay more for the same engine. They make one, and they put all their R&D dollars into it. You don’t get skimped for not paying the H.O. premium
Even the SO powerstroke is stronger than the duramax. They got skimped by buying the GM.
You "HATE" that jt doesn't have class leading towing and power? Who cares? One of them will always be on top on paper. Just use it. It is perfectly capable for anything you will use it for. I doubt you would even notice much difference in real world use. Just enjoy it.
we want to see a TUG OF WAR between this and the Ktruck
Nice blooper touch at the end of the video TFL team
Make sure you check the oil regularly. Mine burned a quart of oil every 1k miles. I have seen many new 24+ duramax engines burning oil.
When you spend almost 80K on a truck, you shouldn't have any "hates", you just bought the wrong truck. Period.
Appreciate that 6.2 liter ecotec V-8 engine and that Duramax 6.6 liter V-8
Bragging rights are not a valid reason for a hate list. Also, nobody would buy a 3/4 to tow 18000 pounds, so your hate on the towing number is ludicrous. You guys can do better!
Andre, Uncomfortable seats are inexcusable in a truck this big and expensive. 🤨
Comfort is subjective
I found the seats to be very comfortable.
@@mattbrew11until you take a 12-hour road trip LOL
@Tge… I take 40-hour road-trips regularly in my 2023 GMC 3500. Cross country road trips that lasts 3-4 days and the seats are completely fine. I use it for road trips only and I have 45,000 miles in it in less that 2 years. Seat comfort is not an issue for me. I have a work truck and cloth seats though.
@rightlanehog3151 I thought I was going to hate the seats when I switched from a 2006 GMC to a 2023 gmc at4hd....but I like them...did a 4k trip last summer was great...have 50k now
Hate, is an extremely strong term to use for something you chose to purchase. You knew the Trailboss, the size, protection, or lack there of, wheel size, etc. It's like buying a corvette and complaining about the leg room!

You do have the option to get the all wheel drive transfer case in the trailboss
The one good point is that it has a functional hood scoop. Most manufacturers would just put a piece of plastic here.
4:56 no on cares about 4WD auto. We DON’T want it. All it means is a weaker transfer case. Put 4WD auto in a Rav4 not a HD pickup.
Totally agree with you on the size. That's the biggest complaint I have with mine. I wish there was some way to have my truck with the dimensions of a 2019.
After watching your Silverado purchase video, I expected your hate list to include no ventilated seats.
I had a 2022 and my biggest complaint was the smaller fuel tank where as Ford and Ram offer 50 gallon tank options where as Chevy was only 30 something. Then that problem was amplified when it got terrible fuel mileage towing.
They just didn't want people complaining they are paying a lot to fill up each time at the pump 😂 joking aside the larger tank woulda been nice....
GM has a 36 gallon tank which is the biggest tank in a standard bed for any brand
@ but it’s the smallest for an 8ft bed.
@@charliemckellips that’s only if the larger tank is ordered as an option… way more standard bed trucks than long bed
@ well I had a dually and the 36 gallon sucked only getting 7 mpg pulling my living quarters horse trailer. lol
FYI.... screens are a lot cheaper to manufactures than creating an instrument cluster.
LT trim level, Trail Boss is option
That’s a beautiful truck
Differential skid plate is z71 too
That ball hitch in the bed sits really high from what I can see? I know that having several trucks that we tow with that having a standard ball is critical. Really looking forward to seeing how this will work.
Like that Andrei started lifting the cars like Ahmed does from the “Car care nut”. That way we get an idea how the cars are made.
I have that exact same truck. And it wasn't a bad purchase for a 2024 Trail boss diesel at 68,500$. Only difference is mine does not have the fancy camera system I only have the single camera looking back
I've already put almost 24,000 miles on it this year, I put my triple axle 32 foot gooseneck flatbed on it pulling my John Deere 650k dozer Trailer and dozer pushes about 31,000 pounds. It has no problem pulling it around so I don't know why everybody's always talks about needing class leading horsepower and torque, if you can pull 25% above your gross without any problem whatsoever not having that extra 20 hp or hundred foot pounds of torque is not that meaningful unless you're dealing with 200 hp and 500 foot pounds of torque yes you needed the more power back then but today when you're scratching 1000 foot pounds a torque and right at 500 hp that's not even a selling point to me
I traded off a Ford f350 three-quarter ton diesel it was only two years old with 80,000 miles and it literally had been in the shop probably 15 times .
Re class leading towing numbers: all 3 get into CDL territory. Most don’t need it.
At 6'4" with a bad back the seats would be a deal breaker for me.
They are better quality materials in Denali Denali ultimate at4x and high country. Also after 50k miles they break in and get more comfortable
Current GM truck/suv seats are too firm. Mine are fine around town but long trips they get old. I miss the GM800 seats, very comfy, tons of padding.
I thought these tailgates were so gimmicky until I bought a 2019 f250. I'm 5'10" and sometimes I struggle to climb into the bed, usually have to climb on the wheels. I could use one of those tailgates lol.
You need to put in some stronger aftermarket skid plates. That one for the transfer case is a joke, you could push it up with you hand.
Beautiful Truck
Put it to work. Keep it stock. Get a gooseneck trailer and load it up HEAVY within your non CDL license set up.
That is a great deal compared to Trump's new tariff sales taxes the truck will be a lot more money in a couple years.
You gonna really hate it when the fake Allison bites the dust

@@JoshuaOverman my 2024 only made it to 17000 mile before it crapped out.
Maybe I've missed the videos but it would be cool if you added topper test for affecting range
So what your saying is the Accountant needs to approve new shop lift that will hold this new truck
It's a very nice truck. Trail boss in the HD is a useless option.
Maybe GM should call it the Trail Assistant Manager rather then the Trail Boss?
I could have sworn I was going to hear "I hate the color" on this list. 🤣🤣🤣
The CV angle looks better than the RHO/TRX’s.
Ram us getting rid of the standard Cummins and will only have the High Output as their "standard" option for the diesel starting 2025 (assuming they actually do whats been rumored). Whether you want more power or torque is a different story, but not having mutiple power levels shoudpnt be your hate on this.
I see nothing but buyers remorse😂 Should have got the Ford😊
Should have got a At4x for 85k instead of a Lt for 74k which is equal to a xlt ford.
The GMC Denali Ultimate I think has much nicer seats. Please confirm Andre.

Those tie rods are cute. I think my Land Cruiser has stouter tie rods 🤣
Constantly comparing it to a Tremor doesn’t make sense - if you wanted “Tremor like” options you should have gotten a ZR2…
Exactly, Tremor competes with ZR2 and FX4 competes with trailboss and the GM is better in each when compared the right way
I know they seem to hate almost everything about their trucks. First it was the long 30 second cold start on their Ram knowing their Trail Boss
My Chevy HD has cloth seats and they are very comfortable for long drives. I wonder if it’s the leather.
Most people now "tow" a couple toilet paper rolls from a Costco shop. 🙄
I got beef with where they put the camber/caster adjust cams. I'm a technician. The 1500 has had them on the lower control arms since2019.. Chevy really can't do that for the 2500/3500 🙃
I'ma hate having to do those alignments.
Those extra steps I gotta take to adjust it will eat at time. Time is money for a tech. Make stuff more accessible.. Chevy always been bad about this. Took em 50+ years to finally put em on the lower control arms 😂

Id rather have a trans and fuel tank skid plate and no skid plate under the def tank. I guess they were trying to help keep def tanks from falling off!🤔
Yeah Rancho shocks on a 78k truck is pretty disappointing. I would love to see them go back to Bilstein like they did on OBS Z71s
It’s great. They could be using off brand no name shocks like ford switched to in 2023. It’s awesome to see them still using a name brand shock.
His real hate list: it has cruise control.
Ford was not same value, it was $10000 more.
Pick up trucks have reach their class work loads, these class leading bragging rights are exactly that, bragging rights. All of the big 3 have more than capable trucks for their class. I own a 2020 f450 pick up, 2023 ram 3500 ho drw and a gm 2024 3500 drw, We tow goose neck trailers around 26000 #'s, they all do it just fine and they all do it in a different. way, it comes down to what you like. Gm is the most comfortable, ford is the fastest and ram handles loaded trailers the best. But they all do it just fine, Once in a while we do tow 30k $'s plus, and I would not tow 30k #'s on a regular basis with these trucks. They would not last, at the end of the day these are consumer trucks where the HD is misleading.
The 450 will tow 35k all day every day and be fine with it. I have 3 and they literally never come off the boom lift trailers. Well one does but only to switch to a bigass generator trailer.

Why are you saying you hate it because it’s to big? Wasn’t the point of buying it was because it’s a HD truck?
I get what he’s saying. The GM platform with that flat square hood offers less than desirable visibility forward. I drive all brands and by far the GM is my least favorite
It was stupid. He should never buy/own an HD truck then if it’s “too big.” This goes for his shitty Fords he likes by the way.
He was just trying to come up with reasons to make this video. This trucks so easy to park between the sensors cameras and good turning radius and being a short bed.
That payload capacity isn't exactly anything to write home about either, my 14 year old F-150 has just about the same payload capacity (3k+). Other trucks in the HD class often have better numbers than this Chevy.
There needs to be a class action lawsuit against gm and it's ridiculously hard seats. I've got 60k miles on my 2500hd and still can't stand driving for much longer than 2 or 3 hrs.
