@ShannonMakes I agree. Great job! Everything is looking so much better. Your home is going to be the beauty she once was with you two, making her shine again. Y'all are very hard workers. Happy New Year! 🎉
I love how your new neighbors all very quickly upon meeting you decided that the 3 new neighbors were definitely friend-shaped and brought you such delights as tacos and chainsaws. What a lovely community to find yourself in.
I was thinking there must be so much trust when you’re flying through the air and expecting somebody to catch you. I wouldn’t mind getting a mortgage with that person:)
That basement alone would’ve been a hard pass on the house for me! You guys have nerves of steel taking on the house but you’re doing an amazing job of saving it!
OMG I grew up in that town and know that house!! My cousins live side by side, 3 and 4 houses down from it!! All my family is still living up there!! I am so happy to see that the house is finally getting the love it deserves. I'm almost 40 and it's been in rough shape since I was a little kid!
You two have kept your careers going strong and worked extremely hard on your home. It has been a pleasure to watch, and get acquainted with you and your very interesting completely unique lives. Thank you ! I enjoy all of it ..DIY, Circus work, your travels, your sweet dog, restoration, antiques, decorating, wonderful quilting creations, sewing, designing, ALL OF IT !
Thank you, glad you enjoy all aspects of the channel! Not everyone does, but I want to share every part of my creativity here on the channel, and on the 2nd one as well 💚🧡💛❤️
If everyone was afraid to save old houses because of hidden problems there would be no old houses I applaud you for saving it ! Even new houses can have problems.I hate to see neglected houses anywhere but sadly there are a lot
I’m from Baltimore where all the row homes are about 100+ years old. My place was built in 1898 and luckily doesn’t have any issues. It’s very scary being a home owner but I’m inspired by your bravery!
Thank you for taking us along for the ride. It has been so inspiring to watch your journey with your home. I love seeing people save these beautiful, old homes instead of knocking them down.
Lots of stick throwing and lots of happy circus corgi dances, I'm always down for that. I can't believe that it's been a year already. What a whirlwind adventure it's been too. Thanks so much for taking us along this journey with you. Can't wait to see what the next year brings.❤
If you ever do another Q&A I’d love to know how you travel with your beautiful doggo. Especially when crossing international borders. I’d also love to know how you and Phil met and got together? How did he become your circus partner? Would love to know! Great video! ❤
I've been watching since the beginning of this house journey and wow just wow!! What a difference a year makes!! You are an amazing person with incredible vision!! And a crap ton of talent! And Phil, well he's also amazing and easy on the eyes! Love the house, love you and Phil, love your dog, love your circus performances, love the whole thing!
Have I watched all of your home reno videos? Yes. Will I still watch the recap? Also yes. It helps with motivation to actually try and work on my own room. I'd also love to know 1- Do you work on multiple projects at once? Or is it just a travel project plus at home (minus the home itself) project? 2- How do you organize materials set aside for a specific project? I don't thiiiink either were covered on a Q&A, or I've just forgotten.
I live in Nova Scotia, and I really enjoyed watching a young couple transform and cherish a Victorian home. It was heartwarming to see their dedication to home renovations, crafts, and the adorable dog photos sprinkled throughout. I know you have many years of renovations ahead of you, but rural Nova Scotia is truly wonderful and worth every moment you spend there.
I'm planning to buy my father's house soon and there's a lot of work to be done. Let's just say this video gave me motivation. All can be done with time and effort. Good job !
I have to giggle about the blanket you have on the bed in your reno'd room... I thrifted one just like it recently and turned it into a super warm petticoat that i was wearing just earlier today 😂 Also watching you live the literal dream is so cool. I would absolutely *love* to some day bring a house back to life. But, for now... Ill just watch y'all do it💓
I have been following you I believe since day one when you purchased your home and what a ride you have taken all of us on! Both of you are truly unbelievable, hard-working, innovative, and sometimes crazy to take on a job like this, but I am here for it‼️‼️‼️ looking forward to 2025 and watching your home become your new creation out of love and hard work‼️♥️
Even after having watched all your renovation videos, it is still astonishing to see the amount of work you have done. It's going to be so great when it's done!
That house was waiting for you to buy it. Moving to a town I’d never heard of was the best decision I made. Even during the multiple trips moving all our belongings up, I questioned “is this the right choice?” It could have been exhaustion talking, but it turned out great! Am enjoying watching your adventure
man you guys are ambitious! i’m burning 🔥 calories just watching you rip into all these projects! you got a lot accomplished this year! thanks 🙏 for the retrospective! wishing you Phil and Canal all the success and happiness in the 🎉new year!!!
Hi, im new to the channel. My husband is a newly retired carpenter.. i noticed you packed some yarn, i crochet daily, hence my name. Love the old house. 💜🌹
That baseboard heat looks so nice and cozy. Our forced air heat just sucks. I leave it set high enough to keeps the pipes from freezing and use plugin oil-filled radiators for zone heating that’s much more comfortable.
You are my heroes! If I ever nagged about safety, its because I want you guys to be around for a loooong time ❤ Your attitude, positve outlook, hard graft and creativity are my inspiration.
Your channel came up on my feed. I’m blown away by your content, sewing, craft, renovation and acrobatic professional. Absolutely amazing. And all at such a professional standard. Love, love, love your content. Your Hobbit coat is wonderful and I’m an Englishwoman who is now going to try English pattern piecing! I make journals out of recycled cardboard packaging, hand painted cards and notebooks. Only made one quilt, but you have inspired me to do more. Don’t know why you haven’t got 500 thousand subscribers, you really do deserve it. Thanks for showing us all that you do, very much appreciated ✨
Thank you, I love comments like these! I would love to have 500 thousand subscribers, but alas, I don't make those super flashy, catchy, click-bait style viral videos, so the growth has been slow and steady... but that's ok, I've got a nice little community here of people that like what I do, and enjoy my videos, and hopefully that continues into the new year!!
I tune in every week, and it still blows my mind how much you managed to accomplish in just a year! Can’t wait to see what you have planned for 2025, wishing you and your amazing neighbours all the best in the new year ❤
I truly admire your courage and determination… I don’t know if I could have done what you did… I almost had a panic attack just by watching your “before” videos!!!! Well done! ❤
Your neighbors have to be in awe at all you both have accomplished over this last year. Of course hanging out of windows, climbing on trees and onto the roof also keeps them in awe or in a total state of panic! Great video!!
In 2013 we bought our own little gem. As I watch your video, I'm so glad to see your heavy duty masks! I didn't wear that kind- just a surgical mask. I was sick for 7 years with asthma, pneumonia and a destroyed immune system. But, I'm ok now, and my house is beautiful! I'm so glad we found this forever home! I look forward to watching as you bring your gem back to life!
while I love hot water baseboards, you mayhave chosen the most expensive heating method in Nova Scotia! but this reno is absolutely amazing. I have to watch every single video now! as a Nova Scotian, I thank you for saving this home from developers!
You're welcome! Loving the province so far 🥰 But I (as well as the other professionals I talked to) would argue that heating it with electricity would be far more expensive 🤔
OMG neighbor Tim!! Makes my heart warm to hear my native Nova Scotia twang. Will keep watching and dreaming of moving back home. For now watching from Oregon.
I've been watching your videos for a while now. Tonight I'm watching the time lapse of your renovation. I'm always worried about your safety as I am about my own grand kids. When I saw Phil working on the chimney caps I thought "be careful"! Then laughed at myself - their day job is being in a circus! 😅
Great job you always get strange weather down in Nova Scotia but is so beautiful down there too.went there in 1987 with the family and then over to PEI By Boat was no bridge back then.loved it😊😊
"Defenestration". Wish I'd thought of that word when we built a ramp from our upstairs double window to the 30yd3 dumpster down below. How classy we would have sounded while we shoveled all the lath, plaster, disgusting debris out the windows. It was actually a giddy kind of rush. When all was wired, plumbed, sanded, 3 coats of polyurethane on the maple hardwood floors, sheetrocked, taped, primed, painted....We then had to wait before installing the new windows so we could carry our queensize box spring up through that same double window because it wouldn't take the corner at the bottom of the stairs. You will always enjoy your memories of this house and the gift you gave yourselves---not to mention your neighbors!
There are an unending number of old homes that can & are being restored. It's truly amazing what is being saved here. I'm in Kings County are you in Lunenburg county. Looks familiar.
I enjoy, quite thoroughly, the humour. Now it's the investigation of exactly what's going on behind the walls especially the upper level. The trims look in great shape despite the age of the building. The yard definitely needs some good changes so it's not sloped toward the building. One year in, your work has been great. 🇨🇦 Oh Canada, you definitely build quirky homes. 🤨😂
When I lived in NS, we’d always get rhubarb growing out of our foundation. You guys win, lol! Legit trees! I wish we were neighbours, this would be fun!
I love how you both embraced projects that many would walk away from! I do believe that TH-cam has given do it yourself aficionados so much power to learn how to do so many things.
I’m just discovering your channel now! I’m an archivist your local historical society may have old photos of the outside of the home or blueprints. It’s kind of random what they may have, but may be fun to see for repairing the outside!
Shannon you're literally so cool. You're basically everything I want to be when I'm an actual grown up (I'm in my early 20s but I don't feel like a real adult lol). You're a performer, a creator, and the kind of person who looks at a monumental task like this house and goes "I got this." Love your videos, they're so fun to watch and inspiring! Merry holidays 🙂
Wow so many changes! It’s amazing just how far you have gotten! You two have done an awesome job! Both this video and the original walk through should be the first place you go when you start to feel like you’re not progressing!! Hope you two are having a great time on your contract. Have a wonderful new year!
I didn't find your channel until recently and am enjoying your videos very much. I also love crafting and making places homey and inviting. I just watched your video from 5 months ago when you were sprucing up a bedroom and trying to find the best solution for a bedroom rug. I wondered what you'd think of giving viewers a 'color palette' and rug length, viewers could then make a section of rag rug for you to piece them all together to make 1 giant rug. It might be fun! And there'd never be another rug like it. Maybe you could make a video of a style of rag rug you like so the rug thickness would at least be consistent....? 🤷♀️
I found you just as you started this house journey. Amazing to me the work ethic you two have tackling this house! Looking forward to what is to come in 2025.
I adore your house. Thank you for saving it from the developer! I’m probably going to find a weekend or set of days off and just binge watch all the house videos. They are very soothing!
Thank you! I have a whole 5 hour renovation compilation on my 2nd channel that will take you up to my first bedroom renovation, if you don't want to sit through all the sponsor spots, otherwise the playlist here on this channel will take you through the entire process, from beginning to end!
Very nice year recap of your house project. I found your channel when you first purchased the house. My favorite channels are the old houses being restored and saved, so I was immediately hooked. You've come a long way this past year; managed to get the priority issues addressed. Look forward to the future projects and renovations. Happy New Year!
Love the renovations of this older home with a lot of charm and it just needed some tender loving care and a lot of work! But it is looking amazing 👏 ❤!
Having lived in old houses in GB and Ireland, I roared when you said "There's nothingon centre." Regulations and conventions are one thing. Realityis another. LOvely to see a year's progress. You've managed to do a lot. Even with 2 people. And a canine supervisor to keep them right. Excellent work. I am asubscribed but I don't watch much as I well ... lets just mention ADHD ... and oversubscription to ... various interests. I hope yuse have a happy and productive New Year coming. All the best from Ireland. XX
This is one of the absolute best year reviews of home renovation I've ever seen. Just the right balance of voice over and great clips!
Thank you!!
Absolutely agree
Double agree!!
@@ShannonMakesgreat job! Loved this video too!❤
@ShannonMakes I agree.
Right?! We got so lucky, it's incredible!!!
@@ShannonMakesmost of us in Atlantic Canada make great neighbors!
I’m always so struck by how easily and seamlessly you and Phil work together. Your work must have built so much trust and innate understanding.
I was thinking there must be so much trust when you’re flying through the air and expecting somebody to catch you. I wouldn’t mind getting a mortgage with that person:)
I'm always impressed watching them work. My partner and I struggle to not make each other angry during projects...
It's going to work when you have the same goal.
That basement alone would’ve been a hard pass on the house for me! You guys have nerves of steel taking on the house but you’re doing an amazing job of saving it!
Can I just say, TIM is a shining example of "community" and people helping people. Love that.
Maybe it’s just Canadians 🤷♀️
It's what we do. -40 weather means everyone must work together if something happens. 👍
Neighbor Tim is a gem 💎
I had forgotten the basement was even more of an adventure than the attic. Most excellent persistence!!
Thank you!!

Excellent video, Shannon! You and Phil have been working your tushies off.
Here’s to the “mentally stable new year”. 👍

Applause for your commitment and hard work to save a ‘ waiting to be grand again’ home. It’s been fascinating watching the process. 😱🤔🙄👏🏼😊
Thank you 💚🧡💛❤️
The temporary fix statement really struck a chord; we have a temporary rug in the sitting room that has been there for nearly 11 years now!
Right?!?! It passes the "good enough for now" test... for years 🤣
Same here, 20 ish years later and now she is part of the family. 😂😂❤
We call it "temporary permanent " here at my house 😂
You have the most amazing neighbor, EVER!~
Your energy and sheer strength are amazing! Best scene is still you standing on Phil and your head is just shy of ceiling. This was meant to be!
Every time I see you both doing the splits I think how awesome it would be to be that flexible again. Can't wait for next year's shenanigans!!!
Thank you, and see you in 2025! 💚🧡💛❤️

Hope you two are having a great time on your contract. Have a wonderful new year!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it, and same to you! 💚🧡💛❤️
Happy New Year to all 3 of you. Love all your videos on both channels 🧶😎 Love from Houston
Thank you, same to you! 💚🧡💛❤️
I found you just as you started this house journey. Amazing to me the work ethic you two have tackling this house! Looking forward to what is to come in 2025.
Thank you! 💚🧡💛❤️
I just found your channel and I’m already in love with your sense of humor, work ethic and love for all that’s old and unique. Subscribed!!
Thank you! I'm so glad you've been along for the journey. 😊
Love the renovations of this older home with a lot of charm and it just needed some tender loving care and a lot of work! But it is looking amazing 👏 ❤!
Thank you!! It's been a labor of love, and we're so happy with how it's turning out!
Happy New Year Shannon and Phil ❤❤😊😊
Love what you two are doing. 🫶🤗
Why thank you!! 🥰🥰
XX
Happy New Year you lovely trio! Also woof the edit time you definitely outdid yourself on this progress summary!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it, and same to you! 💚🧡💛❤️
Well done beloveds. I can't wait for the coming year.
