@@turtleflipper9935 Sadly Mikey Ryan didn't go over people heads... Is it it still a high score? I think Hamilton may be the leader, but we can have regional competitions within these Islands.
GLC are like spinal tap for rap. They obviously love rap so decided to parody it. It's taking the piss but with love. They're also a great bunch of Welsh lads. I remember seeing them at UK festivals. An hour or so before their set they'd literally walk through the crowd with big placards with GLC and come see us etc on them. No minders or security just a bunch of lads having a laugh interacting with the crowd.
Don't think you're quite getting the Bitish sense of humour! GLC are a hilarious 'mock--rap' group, with EXTREMELY British references and humour styles. At the time this came out, there was loads in the news about kids commiting suicide "because of rap songs". This is a piss-take song, saying (sarcastically) "Oh, yeah, of course it's not guns and governments killing people, it's OBVIOUSLY rappers... derrrrr!" Us Brits love dry sarchasm. I went to see GLC a few weeks ago - at Swansea! Best gig of my life! Check out their new track 'Lion's Mane' - it's hilarious and should make more sense to the US audience.
Also it’s a play on the NRA statement that guns don’t kill people, people do as possible the most rubbish excuse to not control gun ownership in the US
They are also Welsh, in the mid 00s they stirred up some "controversy" when England played Wales in a game of real football. If I remember correctly, I think it was before the game, they played a small set live and "dedicated" a song to David Beckham called "Your Missus is a Nutter!!!" (Nutter in our culture means crazy or a bit "nutty").
I live in the same village in Newport that these guys come from. Whilst they act daft for their music a few of them are incredibly intelligent. They used to regularly take part in our local pub quiz and they were a tough team to beat 😂
This level of satire shows they ain't thick. Also I was so happy when I found them again on youtube and they are still doing music. Rediscovered them when the release Full Kit.
My favourite GLC lyric (from a song about dying to become famous): “Jesus Christ was nailed to some wood. Two thousand years later, book sales are still good.”
This was a seminal in the UK when it came out in the early 2000s. I had this CD in my van for about 3 months without swapping it out. Brilliant at parody.
@chrisgosling6083 manifesto was the first track off the album. But after doing some research the first album was called- Don't Blame the Chain, released back in 2001 when I was completely off my tits on E's and Wizz, good time's 👍✌️ definitely gonna check it out now 😎

Funny you should mention Elmer Fudd BBC radio one did a compilation parody album and one of the best tracks on it was a parody of this song were they changed it to " guns don't kill people rabbits do" all the lyrics changed to explain how Bugs Bunny is a murderous psychopath.
Aaahhh man. What a blast. Caught these guys live at the Isle of wight festival back in the day. Would love to see more reactions of these guys, the catalog is pretty small, but great fun.
UB40 are an English reggae band from Birmingham, they are most known for making poppy/mainstream reggae covers of love songs in particular and were huge in the 80's and 90's.... still are in Birmingham.
Kinda. They split up and went into a legal dispute about who keeps the name, current UB40 has a new lead vocalist and they dropped a track earlier this year as a club anthem for Birmingham City FC. There are two bands now. Couple of them died, band is fractured, not quite the same anymore but they have a legendary catalogue of tracks.
Glad to see you react to a group from my area. They've been around for like 20 years and were a big influence for lots of Welsh kids that you can grow up and do something like this and just have some fun. They're mostly just making fun of things from the area so you may not get a lot of the references
GLC are brilliant. I saw them live in 2009 they were amazing. They had 20 k people in the palm of their hands. On tour next year in the uk. Tickets brought.
Glc started in the early 2000s and are still touring now. I saw them 2 years ago and have tickets to see them next March. They are seen as a parody band but they can rap and sing some really funny songs. "My mothers got a penis" is the track you heard at the end. Ahead of its time.
The second (and last) guy rapping "Reese" was working as a trainee sound engineer when i had a recording session in Milton Keynes about 25 yrs ago. He was a laugh
I saw them at a local free festival in south Wales (Monmouth) about 20 years ago. A real family event with ages from 0 to 100 and they said the audience would have to participate in the foul language to prevent them getting in trouble. I’ll never forget the very distinguished looking old lady near me screaming “F*CK! C*NT!” at the top of her lungs. 😂
Not sure if anyone's said this. Just Say No was a song by Samo - It came out of a Kids TV show called Grange Hill. It's a great Call out by GLC (as usual)
Greatest Hits was their 7th album, but was their first major commercial release, and actually was a collection of best bits from their first 6 albums with one or two new songs - which was a riff on serious GH packages that would always throw on extra tracks to get a single out of it.
They're still touring and if you know Lidl the shop that sells everything you really should check out that song. Also there's a song about a Robot but I'll let you find that by yourself.
The reference to Sammo , he was a character on a UK series of Grange Hill who was a druggie and lead to Just Say No": campaign which got the cast an invite to the White House during Reagan's 2nd term and some of the cast are alleged to have done drugs in the White House
