  • @jimmyoakes shares his stories with us about how he got started, why he drifts, why he came to the Adam LZ event, stuff like that. Thanks for showing us your S13 240SX, thanks for having fun with us and entertaining the crowd, nice to see you again! It doesn't matter if you have a 350Z, AE86, GR86, Nissan Z, E46, this all pertains.

    Jimmy is a humble dude that he doesn’t want to acknowledge that him and all the east coast guys are carrying the car community on TH-cam

      Facts, between him, lz, ricer miata and Tommy f yeah and probably even others I’m not as aware of they really do carry it. TJ has went downhill and all the other west coast guys all just try to copy each other. Item b up in the north east though and a few others are pretty good. More Skids had a really good thing going for awhile but the glory days unfortunately are gone because they never truly blew up and moistboys is very underrated if you don’t know about them. They’re really or were I guess in terms of the skids boys were holding down the north west side of things.

      @@SaabStory636 Quentyn and DJ are amazing people, I love their channel and have met them in person multiple times. They're channel just never gained the traction they were looking for it to and it sucks.
      However, spreading the name of smaller channels like they are is a good way to help those channels not suffer the same fate. I reccomend you check out I'm Joel. His videos are very in depth and personable and the car is sick. I learn a lot on his channel.
      Taylor Ray also deserves mentioning.

      The best part about Jimmy is he knows every inch of a car now, after years of learning the hard way and being stubborn and wanting to know how everything on a car worked, so he didn't have to look up guides to fix something, he can just fix it by experience, His story he told recently on LZs podcast of how he got into Tuning was a perfect expample.

      Also now that DJ is making videos all the time it's like the whole other opposite of the vibes from the crew... For sure some of the coolest channels on YT.

Here in Hungary, most people into the culture just simply don't have the funds to support this lifestyle. A lot of the rest is just flex. For that I feel like we're kinda behind so it's entertaining and super inspiring to follow the East Coast scene.

    Greetings from Southwest Texas 🇺🇸 Great interview with Jimmy I've been following him for about 3 years the crew he has in his friends around the shop. It's in the future to have the All-Star of Drift Week and Drift Masters get together and have a event in Japan with their All-Star Drift Crew of legendary drivers to their new school. Because you know when you have American cars in Japan with American drivers it is going to be unreal and then to add European drivers to the mix with their cars is going to take the drift community into the big boys playground and keep taking steps to making it a world wide LZ event ×100% this will get Jimmy out of the shop. Keep up the hard work on these amazing interviews thank you Arron

    So I finally got to meet Jimmy at the event and considering we talk on IG all the time he was exactly as expected. Aaron said he's in full work mode, and I actually saw him getting in his car and said "Hi Aaron!" And instead of a "hey" *drive off* he stopped and was like "Hey! How are you? Good? That's great. Are you having fun? Thank you for coming out man, it means a lot" and it actually threw me off because he was literally busy af and stopped to talk. Haha

  • @jimmycammarano
    @jimmycammarano 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Aaron I think you have some of the best interview questions of anyone I've ever watched on TH-cam. I feel like they could be their own channel alone, but life is busy enough right? You can tell most people you interview (many who have given quite a few interviews in their lives) have never been asked some of things you do because the answers actually take a moment of thought instead if the the almost pre rehearsed answers I'm sure they spit out almost every time. Way to be unique and props for putting some real thought and effort into these. They may not hit for some people as much as the driving footage but I feel like they're awesome for helping us get to know the people we all follow even better. Thanks for the great content! Keep it coming

    There's a very interesting observation I have on the youtube drift scene. Generally speaking the drifting scene is very united and there isn't any hard feelings had between youtube drifters and the grassroots scene, everything seems coherent, every drift fan likes watching people like Adam LZ or even upcoming good drivers like Hoons Garage. Or at least most of these youtube personalities aren't considered cringey. Doing youtube itself in the drift world can only be a bonus to you and this is why the biggest names in drifting like James Deane, Ryan Tureck, Vaughn Gittin Jr, Piotr Wiecek, Chelsea DeNofa and many others have their own channels. In other words, there isn't a seperation between the pro stuff and youtube, or the grassroots and youtube.
    This is in stark contrast to skateboarding on youtube, which is considered somewhat cringe by the core skateboarding crowd. People like John Hill, Geroge Poulos, Braille and many other channels are viewed as cringe and silly to core skateboarders. In other words making it on youtube as a skateboarder is not as well respected as making it through being a a great skateboarder and pursuing the classic path to sponsorship and fame. However in drifting is not looked down upon to do youtube. It is rather cool as hell, since all the big names in drifting do it in order to promote themselves. Definitely find this dynamic and difference to other sports quite interesting.

    • @LoneStarDrift
      @LoneStarDrift  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think about the differences in BMX and skateboarding vs drifting sometimes, and drifting is so expensive that it is common place for everyone to have to figure out the sponsor game and it is extremely hard for people to go around it without stickering up their car with company names.
      Any kid can play a sport, but not any kid can operate a race car, money has to come from somewhere.

    Jimmy is a great dude. I don't agree with his nascar statement. The thing that plagues nascar is teams. They took nascar away from individuals. Changes rules that only benefits those team. If drifting does this it will follow the same path. Judging shows already that it has its favorites. Teams can be good. Not in it's current state. It's suppose to build up but it really forces some to take back seats. Adam moves the needle for drifting and TH-cam. I still think it needs to be kept as a individual.

      There was a point after school in the shop next to haggard where he was burnt out, looking depressed and he said on video that he would be quitting at some point to get an engineer job unless the youtube money picked up. He had a ls 300zx and sr20 300zx and s13 and and drove a wrx after the saturn. Car stuff the whole time. It's not full poser to speak on needing an adult income. Thsts growing up and paying for life.
