Absolute mastery , imperial voice and deep sadness that this voice died prematurely...Enthusiasm for the very communicative comment....Thank you for this moment of grace and happiness....🐢🐢
An amazing vocal talent, honed by years of training. From what I read she started lessons very young indeed. She would have had a great career. And we'll listen over and over again to these precious nuggets marvelling at what was and thinking about what could have been. Cancer is so cruel. I look at the keyboard and I am sorry that it is not a grand piano. But at least it was recorded.
This was actually a broadcast. The full concert is available. The type of production the Czechs did during the pandemic. Great stuff I have listened to this Quel guardo countless times, and I just love the performance. You mentionned her phrasing and particularly the pronunciation of the vowels. Magnificent indeed. Her Italian was so nice. And the few things she did in French was also good. Quite importantly, the best pronunciation of the word "amour" I have ever heard. How much do we miss Patricia...
As Georges Thibaudeau states, this performance was indeed part of a concert. It featured both Patricia and her teacher Eva Dřízgová-Jirušová, to whom we are all deeply indebted for recognising, nurturing and skilfully developing Patricia’s talent from 2009 (when Patricia would have been about 10) until the very end of her career. It is clear from the interviews that Patricia gave that they became very close. There is a fascinating February 2016 Czech TV programme ‘Talent Alone is Not Enough’ showing Eva preparing Patricia for her extraordinary January 2017 ‘New Year’s Concert in Vienna Style.’
i'm a heavy metal fan but i could listen to most of patricia's songs because she had such a unique voice!! this aria is a real powerhouse performance by patricia which i think would have propelled her to the top of all the classical singers in the world! she had already given us a glimse of what was to come with her brilliant rendition of 'rousalka' which i believe she sang around the same time!! the real tragedy was that she was not just a phenomenal singer but she was a brilliant actress & dancer as well!! also, she could sing in several languages, including english, which would have augured well for her if she had designs on making it big in britain & america! sadly, it was not meant to be but her name must not be allowed to fade away like a leaf blown by the wind! a book, documentary, stage show & a film should all be written & put into production early next year, when the rawness of her death will not feel so heartbreaking! i'm sure there is somebody out there who is more than capable of putting this together! in the meantime, maybe a compilation cd/dvd of her best songs, 30? could be released, with the songs voted for by her fans!! i have the ideas but not the capital to make it happen but i'm always open to suggestions!! cheers!
Though I had a good voice (soprano colorature) and two teachers who encouraged me, I didn't follow this way and don't know much about this kind of singing, I mean I am not able to give a real opinion. But my ears tell me this singer was a very great singer. Her voice is a true delight. It's always a pity to loose such a talent. As usual you are precious to make us feel better the voices you make us listen to. You have a very solid knowledge and a great sensibility. Thank you William for your always cheerful reaction. It happens to me to direct some people towards your channel, to share the pleasure of your wise comments.
thank you again, my friend! this song was the one that revealed all of patricia's undoubted potential & fleetingly, she became the world's greatest classical singer with this magnificent rendition!! she also displayed her brilliant acting skills, which we already knew she possessed! it's not great fun talking about pj in the past tense, which is why she must be honoured or recognised in some way! plans may already be in place as we speak, although i don't think anything will be revealed until maybe next year!! (book, documentary, stage musical & a film - with at least english sub titles!) i used to be a rock/heavy metal dj & i believe patricia was a rock music fan! when you think about it, the likes of freddie mercury, ian gillan, robert plant, david coverdale & even ozzy osbourne, could easily have been opera singers! among females, are linda ronstadt & pat benatar, both classically trained singers! linda sang in a production of 'the pirates of penzance'!!! all the best!
Hi William, thanks so much for your comment on this amazing song. In my opinion it’s Patricias absolute masterpiece! I’m the one who asked you for it a few days ago. You may have done it anyway, but it means so much to me! Thank you again!
As always I am astonished by both the technical skill and the wonderful artistry that Patricia brought to her singing. What heights might she have reached had she had been allowed to live a full life? And again as always I am impressed by your so very knowledgeable analysis and clearly deep appreciation of the music.
Thank you so much. I was very captivated by this performance even though it’s in a church and with an electric keyboard. I know the aria very well from directing Don Pasquale but this to mr is pure perfection of voice and characterisation.
@@BangkokVoiceCoach There is a recording of Patricia singing this piece, with orchestral accompaniment, at a New Year's Eve concert in Poznan, on 31 December 2018, so some two and a half years before the performance on which you comment here. You can find it on the La Celestia - Patricia Janeckova website. I won't provide a link in case YT doesn't like it, but if you find the website the performance in question is No 288 in the chronological catalogue of her performances.
Maria Callas gave one of her Julliard masterclasses on this. Its fascinating that Patricia sings so close to how Callas was trying to get her student to sing it. Callas would have loved Patricia.
@@BangkokVoiceCoachJaneckova and Callas are my favorite sopranos. I see them aesthetically as demonstrating the difference between the perfect and the sublime.
pj had a young sounding voice which was so different to the wagnerian voices of over 35yo buxom classical women singers! patricia appealed to a younger audience because she was young, humble & pretty & acted like young women did! not forgetting she liked to listen to rock music as well!
@@johnojvind7641 patricia liked the beatles, the doors & the eagles as well as kiss! i'm sure she could have been a great rock singer if she had the chance but sadly, we will never know! i think she would have been fantastic singing pink floyd's 'great gig in the sky' in the same style as she sang 'once upon a time in the west'! just my opinion!
Ah, but there is indeed a recording (sound only) of Patricia singing this with a full orchestra in Poznan on New Year’s Eve 2018. It is included in volume 2 of Frank Coshlea’s monumental anthology of her complete recordings.
thank you for your acknowledgement! this aria would definitely be in my 30 best songs sung by patricia! i guess it could be stretched to 40 on a double album! other tracks should include, 'meine lippen', 'mein herr marquis' & 'the 'doll' song, all from the 2016 new year concert - maybe all 5 songs! also, 'pie jesu', 'think of me', 'summertime', 'rousalka' & 'oh mio babbino caro'! forgive any spelling mistakes! these are only my opinions, however but the most important song of all is, 'once upon a time in the west', which is probably the track that alerted us to this prodigious talent! putting 30 songs together & selling it to the uk should not be difficult at all, if the marketing is right! patricia's life story, presented in film, would be a real weepie but also filled with such joy!
I´m a great fan of Patka and followed her in depth. When you listen to her duets with her teacher and when she performs the same repertoire as PJ you´ll find that Patka, in style, is almost a clone of her teacher. Seems quite common among strict classical trained sopranos and that´s why people in general, blindfolded, have great difficulties telling them apart, who is who.
William, you wanted to hear Patricia singing this piece with an orchestral accompaniment. Well, now you can. Frank Coshlea has assembled a magnificent compilation of all available recordings of Patricia. Part 2 includes an audio recording of Patricia singing this piece at a New Year’s Eve concert in Posnan in 2018. She is accompanied by Philharmonia Posnan. Patricia was really superb, this loss is really very sad. I hope she's starring in some more special place. God bless her family.

Oh my! Gorgeous! Thank you. Love seeing you happiness while listening :)
So glad!
