YESS WE LIVE FOR DAYS LIKE THIS Yeah we echo similar thoughts. It's a good game, but nothing amazing or great because it doesn't really do much with its horror elements after a while. It needed more of that survival feeling and encouragement to its design, then maybe it could have been the fishing equivalent to Sunless Sea/Skies.
For me personally, the game missed all marks. It's an eerie casual game with a linear story and somewhat linear progression system, and it's about... killing animals? Okay weird mix, but apparently it works for some. For me the eerie atmosphere and the constant timers meant I couldn't relax (i have a crazy fear of the poor twitchy red eye symbol lul, seeing injured eyes is totally triggering me), the story is very linear and pretty uninteresting, and the gameplay is some planning and risk&reward, some grinding, inventory management, combined with... lots of small reaction tests? Honestly, it's a cozy game with some glorified qte. From all gameplay, i liked the inventory management the most, making as many fish fit into the boat is a dull way of fun, but definitely fun I wish it would have never started to force you to fish at night
Yeah I agree with a lot of this, some solid elements but a few areas that weren't really good enough. And yes resident evil backpacks are always a good addition haha
I greatly agree, as much as I love the experience of dredge. By the end it feels pretty formulaic and low stakes. A shame to hear about the pale reach being balanced for midgame
I really think that's a fumble with The Pale Reach, a tough area at the end that _needs_ all the upgrades you've acquired feels like it would have been a great bonus end to the game
They are clearly good at making video games even if Dredge wasn't perfect. The technical quality and overall sound design of Dredge don't seem like something you get lucky with!
The artstyle of dredge is what drew me to it when i saw one of the people i'm subbed to playing it. There's something about the artstyle that makes the game good to look at and it has it's own charm to it.

Haha always love the support! :)
Yeah I still happily played all of it, but those horror elements left a lot to be desired!

Although I do not plan on playing dredge it definitely put Black Salt Games in my radar for future releases.

A fantastic review for Christmas. Just something about Cthulhu that really reminds me of the holiday, yknow?
Maybe it's because of that omnipotent, omnipresent being who lurks in the North Pole and sneaks into your home in the quiet of the night.. thank you!
Great review, I feel the same
Thanks!
Great review as always, I wishlisted that one.
Thanks! Hope you enjoy it if you play it!
Nice criticisms. :)
Thanks man! :)
I know it might seem odd, but I just don't like playing games about hurting animals. Just as I don't do that in real life.
That's seems fair! Just as reasonable as people who would avoid games with violence against other humans!
