An apparently new monster has been added called the "monster ray". Spawns in shallow water at medium to low panic levels if the wiki is to be believed. Also to anyone looking to get the banisher achievement, it says you have to banish 10 threats. What it neglects to say is you need to banish 10 UNIQUE threats. Anything that reacts to banish counts, In fact the achievement itself unlocked for me after using it on the eyes, despite them being entirely cosmetic.
The monster ray is just a curious little guy who wants to check out your boat. And take a bite of it. Very similar to the night angler and can be outrun or banished fairly easily with a few upgrades to your boat!
@@banshreddedcheese It's completely understandable why you forgot about that creature. Because surprisingly it hardly ever spawns and when it does it's a sight to behold. It can only spawn in the shallows I've never encountered this creature before until recently and oh man it scared me. So much that I paused the game because I was caught off guard because I thought the shallows were safe. Well not anymore after the encounter. So I searched It up just to make sure I wasn't hallucinating. And I barely found any images of it so it's understandable that most players are unaware of this creature. it's not until I went into the Drudge wiki that I learned more information about it.
great video! The Leviathan definitely deserved a mention also, since it can be encountered at high panic levels in open ocean between all of the main locations, not just the edge of the map. I remember my first playthrough of the game; I wasn't fazed at all by any of the enemies, including the Gale Cliffs Serpent, until I saw the Leviathan! never whipped out my Haste ability as fast as I did the second I saw that huge fin, lol!
after a few more tests, I've determined that the Leviathan has 2 "stages" so to speak; 1 where it just kinda shows up and makes itself known with the fin, in which it's almost completely harmless, but still get away as soon as you see it, and the second phase which is the "attack" phase, where it will instantly one-shot you regardless of what you do or how much hull health your vessel has, and like you said, the only way to save yourself is Manifest. If you stay around the Leviathan for an extended period of time while it's in phase 1 it will eventually move to phase 2, and you're just kinda up a creek there, lol. Leviathan is a spooky creature indeed!
You forgot to mention the Flying Dutchman that can spawn at high panic! A huge ghost pirate ship that disappears as you approach it, only appears at night. Seems to be harmless even if you do manage to sneak right up to it.
This is true the Flying Dutchman is purely a visual effect of Panic and is harmless to you. Should've had that in the beginning with the other visual effects!
First time I was night fishing and I saw the "panic eye" open I thought it was something searching for me! It never occurred to me that it was my own eye since it doesn't look human at all what with the vertical pupil. I did panic though and quickly rushed into Greater Marrow, banging my boat up in the process. The ironic thing is that in game I wasn't panicking at all, just wary 😂

Lights as equipment: distance adds up to reveal rocks and fish schools at greater distance, even 4x1 lights. Lumen also adds up, it directly protect you from panic. More lumen: less panic.
Personally, I tend to keep my lights on at night to reduce panic buildup and improve visibility. Sure miasma can make your panic worse but I generally just try to avoid it.
Omg I noticed the special Monaco livery Mclaren in the background you are now my favorite person 😅 but I definitely panic when I don't even have any panic. I want to learn about the monsters so i know how to avoid them but at the same time I don't want to spoil any story bits!
I may or may not have a 1:18 scale model of the gulf livery McLaren as well🤭 As for how to deal with and interact with local monsters you can speak with locals or interact with places in the area that give you tips to avoid losing your boat!
I'm gonna be honest don't know if it was me, but night and fear should be way more punished, it was my first playthrough (obviously not in pacifist mode) and it wasn't hard at all, I finished the game dying not a single time, maybe I slept a lot? I was super extra safe? Didn't knew about the sharks, the roots and tentacles, didn't appeared to my a single time, the ghost boats, the enemies on the swamp area and tornadoes were super easy to me to pass by, I finished it in 13 hours
For me i started playing super safe but after a point I realised that high panic and staying up all night had negligable downsides. Never rested a night away again after I realised thjs 1/4 of the way into the game
@@ultimate9056 Exactly, is like if you do things right then you miss a good portion of what the game has to offer, you practically have to neglected the good things so you can enjoy them 🤷
One big help in the game is to not buy the big engines. Unlock the jet engine and fill up on those. If you wreck or take damage, only one jet will be disabled, allowing you to escape. If you ha e a large engine, you'll break it in one hit and be dead in the water only able to troll
Initially, I used to sleep every night (in game). So it was a bit tedious to me. Slow boat, cannot go much far, cannot outrun angler. But after completing the steel point dock, I started staying out more and panic levels kept increasing and the game became more fun. IMO, the game is more fun in high panic mode.
I finished the whole game and collected all achievements and I did not even know half of what you just taught me. I haven't even seen the water sprouts ever. Maybe because I am a chicken and just sleep untill day very quickly.
Im almost done with the game but I've never seen the crows, phantom shark or the tentacles. I do usually sleep every night. I don't have passive mode on. Idk why i haven't encountered them
I’ve noticed the phantom shark only shows up once every couple days in game but you can get the tentacles to show up multiple times a night if you’re trying
The manta was added after I made this video! You can either use banish or outrun it. He only appears in The Marrows and is pretty easy to dodge with haste or a fast enough boat
The Leviathan? It's possible to trigger an attack during the day but is very unlikely unless you are getting near the edge of the map or try following it when it appears. You can easily avoid getting attacked by staying moving in an opposite direction of it and using Manifest if you are really concerned

It's not new.

@MarbleCat34 I called him wallard. He's a bro. Hella slow ans kinda cool looking. I managed to outrun him VERY EARLY game before I even left Morrow.

Fun fact: if the Leviathan does attack haste cannot out run it. The only thing that can save you is Manifest assuming you’re fast enough

I still panic slightly and overheat engines or slam into rocks it’s quite embarrassing

It took me a minute to realize that this was a videogame tutorial and not self help advice.
Personally, I tend to keep my lights on at night to reduce panic buildup and improve visibility. Sure miasma can make your panic worse but I generally just try to avoid it.
I would just blatantly ignore the miasma about 75% of the time cause the effects are so minimal when you take the whole night into consideration
Me going towards the mysterious ghost ship honking my horn thinking It might be friendly 😢

Hey, Ben! Just wanted to say thank you for the content and compliment your dedication towards your audience. Brilliant work, man!
Thank you so much! I work hard to make the best videos I can I hope you can continue to enjoy them!
Love that McLaren photo on your wall!

Can this also be used be used for real life advice?
If you have the ability to use curses like Banish in real life I don't see why not

me enjoying all the monsters ike the serpent or kraken thing ignoring me and no panic and miasma and hallucinations:
I seem to encounter the tentacles more often than the phantom shark. Wonder why 🤔

you forgot the manta

What a strange game
The strange parts are what makes the game so much fun!
Lots of hands usage
I played the game without even caring about the eye, i dont think its a good system.
Not true! During the day with full panic in open water the sea comes to eat you

or you know you could sleep....
I don’t sleep for a week in this game, I have too much to get
