23:56 - “Darwin observed that when two groups of finches competed over the same food source, eventually one of them would evolve a different beak shape so they could feed on something else”

Great reaction! Not a lot of reactors analyze the meaning of the lyrics so deeply, but that no less important than music if it goes to Nightwish. Thank you!

All the weird ghosts ... lol.
Actually you have seen each band member, first Floor with the bird flying thru her head, then Tuomas in the library, Kai reading the book and turning to sceleton. Troy with the butterflies Emmpu breaking into dust and the new bassist Jukka loosing his arm.
And in the end Tuomas turning into a tree is a reference to all the elements we are made of will after we die goe back to the circle of life and create something new, as we are all made of the dust of stars.
But you did a really good job!!!

I thought Emppu seemed to swell up and burst into water like a balloon exploding.

Great recap on this song. I also noticed the owl spinning backwards and I'm curious about the hectic bridge part as the last bird seems to be blind, maybe a reflection on how we are often blind to our surroundings in this day and age.

The underwater shots are taken from a video call One Breath Around The World by Freedivers Guillaume Néry and his wife Julie Gautier, he can hold his breath for about 7 minutes.

Thanks for sharing your reaction & opinions about this new Nightwish song. Here's some probability calculations:
Step 1. Probability of a boy meeting a girl to have a romantic relationship with: one in 20,000.
Step 2. Probability of that same boy knocking up that same girl: one in 2000.
Step 3. Probability of right sperm meeting right egg: one in 400 quadrillion.
Step 4. Now lets assume that you have just those 12 generations of ancestors mentioned in the intro to this song. For the probability of every one of those 12 generations of your ancestors having reproduced successfully with right sperm having met the right egg is 400 quadrillion to the 12th power.
Given these 4 steps, the probability of you being born you at the present moment is 20k x 2k x 400 quadrillion to the 13th power. Going backwards in time with even more generations of your ancestors, we soon reach a probability of 1 divided by the number of atoms in the entire universe. This makes each one of us a unique miracle.
P.S. Most, if not all, of the free diving sections are taken from Guillaume Néry's short film "One Breath Around The World", which you can watch on his YT channel.

Realising these facts a while ago much because of the message of Greatest show on earth, stopped me from thinking suicidal thoughts. Nightwish probably saved my precious life.

Nightwish dont dissapoint "did you feel the ghost energy song"
I listened to this song many many times by now, and it is one i like to listen to with my headphones or without, its really a good song, when i can do so to me. Some say Floors voice is low in the mix, and i can agree its hard to get all words she sing, but if you look at it soundwise it sounds amazing!! and after a listen or 2, you know most of lyrics, and its no problem at all, its done fully on purpose for the sound experince of it, and Floor being part of the ancestor choir.. cant wait for rest of album!!
Yesterwynde is the opening track on new album, i belive its only like a intro, its a little over 2 min long, #2 on album then is a almost 10 min song, thats proberly another epic!! #3 is where i think they bring in a heavy track, and this Perfume of the timeless is #5.. so i think its gonna be a good mix of heavy songs, Epics, and maybe a full balled.. Perfume of the timeless, well its almonst a ghost energy song right, telling all these ancestors is around in a timeless world, being around you still, and yourvthe perfume, also a message that your existens matters!! i feel tuomas also put in a little message that mankind could do better still, Einstein turn to ape..
The title of the album is a word made by band member Troy Donockley, which Holopainen describes as the feeling of time, history, memory, and being connected to past generation, who have "all had their lives, their ups and downs, and they don't exist anymore, except as atoms scattered all over the universe. And we're going to be in that state pretty soon as well. So that should give you something to think about."
Holopainen has described the album as being about humanism, history, and the inspiration thereof, and that outlook of the album is positive and optimistic ]
Track listing Yesterwynde: release date 20th September 2024
All tracks are written by Tuomas Holopainen.
    Yesterwynde track listingNo. Title Length
    1. "Yesterwynde" 2:43

The footage of the man underwater, is real footage of a man ( I don't remember his name ) who does extreme diving without any oxygen. I believe he is from Portugal....Don't quote me....and holds the world record for this sport.
As for the fact that it takes over 4,000 ancestors to get to where we are now is fascinating! My Aunt spent a year or so just finding ancestors from her Mother and Father....and there are over 1000 pages just from her parents, and all of their ancestors. We even had a General under George Washington in our lineage. She found family members from Ireland that are still around from my Grandfather's lineage.

Great breakdown Lauren. This song has been stuck in my head since the day it came out. Such a wonderful, layered soundscape. The new album, which comes out in September, completes a trilogy (with the previous 2 albums) that reflect on History, Evolution and Ancestry.

silent clocks rewinded.. i take as the ghost of your ancestors around you now, and you look back to when they lived, as they are silent now, as their time as living humans passed..

There's a few things that you see that move backwards, perhaps showing going backwards in time or representing things that happened in the past. Some of the shots show the inside of the Natural History Museum at Tring. They were given EXPLICIT instructions not to to ANYTHING. The camera work was done with small cameras to avoid hitting anything. The free diver is a famous French guy - but I cannot remember his name. The video is filmed in 1080 instead of 4K, because some of the footage is older footage (like some of the free diver footage) and transitioning would be jarring. Also, the green screened parts blend better.

Yes Darwin/Beagle - Darwin looked for and ate one of every species he found. It is ironic that scientists spent centuries trying to classify species and often missed so many or got the ones they knew wrong. For years we were told that fish were all related - but they aren't. Many don't fall into any current classification. Other sea life is weirdly more closely related to land animals. Manatees are closely related to elephants. Partially due to genetics, we know more of classified species in the last 40 years than in all history prior.
