When ATLA came out all my friends wanna be a fire bender because its "cool", I was made fun off when I said I wanna be a waterbender. When the episode about blood bending came out, the reactions on their faces were priceless.
Literally you could crash people with earth, burn them with fire, drown them with water, or even stab them with ice, I'm still curious if air benders could take the air out of your lungs.
You also forgot to mention that Waterbending inspired one of the more powerful forms of Firebending - Lightening redirection. Iroh came up with the technique after he studied the movements of master Waterbenders because they redirect opponent energy
@Azure the Lucario I know they can't access it, but it certainly says something when a crucial technique for firebenders is inspired by another element
@@kyokennedy5334 Well... lightning gets formed from water to begin with... And blue fire is just hydrogen... Yeah, the elements system has always been broken in water's favour :/
@@manolgeorgiev9664 100%. The only other contender is maybe air, with the ability to astral project, fly, and bend the air out of someone's lungs - but as far as we can see that is limited to one target at a time. that being said, Monk Gyatso's corpse was surrounded by several Fire nation soliders- i wonder if he choked them all to death simultaneously, being a master airbender and (presumably) a far greater Airbender than Zaheer who only had airbending for a few weeks at most.
I feel like Fire and Air bending just never evolved much. During the 100 year war Water and Earth evolved mostly because of desperation during the war and the need to become stronger to fight off the Fire nation. The Fire nation had no need to find new techniques because they thought they were the strongest, while air benders didn’t exist. If there was another season, Fire and Air could potentially have many strong techniques. Zahir was doing well to prove that, but he was stopped too early.
Other then lightning I cant think of anything more fire could get though, maybe smoke and ash? That'd be neat. Air tho I cant think of jack, flying ability is locked down to like 2 people so even if they focused on it I dont think many would get it.
I think it makes sense fire bending went through a cultural upheaval as many countries do under the rule of a violent dictator. In a way historically nerding over it it oddly gives me WWII vibes. Nazi-Germany had hitler fire nation had Ozai, and they're first major conquest was the immediate genocide of the Jewish (airbenders). It kinda sucks we didn't get to see more but I get it since two of the 4 nations cultural identity was almost destroyed or subverted.
Theoretically, if a waterbender can turn water in to ice and unfreeze ice by controlling the temperature, couldn’t they reverse that and make hot boiling water? They could basically have a liquid form of fire bending. EDIT: two years later and I still get replies correcting me. I know they control the molecules rather than the temperature. It would’ve been too complicated to explain that they speed up and slow them down, so I just simplified it to “controlling the temperature.”
Theoretically, all elements have an infinite amount of subskills, they just aren't recognised. For example, waterbenders should technically be able to bend literally anything containing H2O molecules. Edit:. Oh wow thats a lot of likes- Thanks
No, because bending in the avatar world isn't based on Science, or at least, OUR understanding of Science; it's purely chi/spiritual based. We can't really just make assumptions based on our understanding of science, because the program clearly shows bending being an inherently spiritual or Chi fueled art.

I feel like waterbending is only more op because it’s been explored more by the series. Airbending is probably the element that’s had the least amount of screen time/exploration, yet it has SO much potential because air is literally everywhere all the time. Also I definitely think airbenders should be the only ones who can change someone’s soul or spirit, it makes no sense that a waterbender should be able to do it.
I think the ability to control ones spirit or soul is because of their geographical situation within the world. The two tribes, northern and southern are both situated by the original Spirit portals, and thus their connection with the spiritual side of life should be much stronger
@@James-lm6de Not to mention waterbenders learned from the moon spirt, unlike the other elements who learned from actual living creatures. Waterbenders have always had a deep connection with spirits.
Water has healing, and it's relatively easy to learn. If you think about that in a war setting, it means that over a long drawn out conflict, armies of water benders are stronger than armies of other benders. Because they can heal each other after each battle. And it also means if you get to pick an element in the avatar world, choosing anything but water is selfish.

Yes, Waterbending is pretty overpowered. You can control supposedly all facets of liquid including the water and acid in a persons body (blood bending). This is just an example, there are many more examples and tons of other things you could do by water-bending if you get really technical.
this idea is a bit graphic when you think about t too deeply, however there is a possibility, if a waterbender is strong enough, they could not only drain the life from plants, but also drain the water within people or animals? i know that plants have a less complex makeup which would explain it as a more accessible resource, yet in desperate situation it may be a last resort.
And that’s called bloodbending and it’s op af, in certain conditions like full moons, imagine how easy blood transfusions would be, also it would be SO EASY to kill an ENTIRE ARMY with bloodbending alone
The answer is simple: water is versatile. Fire is raw power. What fire lacks water has abundance of: versatility. What water lacks fire possesses: power.
Not really, if you take humans and represented them through the most fitting element, water reflects our qualities best as a species compared to other animals, we can adapt best to all circumstances, situations and enviroments through use of tools, learning, understanding, mimicing etc and that's why we are the top dog in the evolutionairy chain. This is also the attitude and philosophy one should take most into account when training and utilizing any martial art. Stay calm, cool, relaxed, sway back and forth, right, left in rhythm to your opponent, shift your defense to offense at a moments notice when you find a crack or opening in your opponent's defense or when he becomes heated and unbalanced, while never losing your center of balance, like a still body of water, if you need to or the opportunity arises, become a raging river, crashing waterfall, smashing wave and pounding hail! Or just in short, in the everlasting inspiring words of the father of Mma, Bruce Lee: "Be like Water, my friend."
@@knowcomment4525 that's actually quite true. However, if you/we take every single individual within the specie and take that into account. Every individual still differs in style. Some are like hard core rocks that don't shake nor move, some: sly and quick as the wind, some: raging as the burning sun, while some: (like me) flows gently and adapts like the water. Astrologically speaking.. I'm a someone who stomps like a capricorn and destroys like a scorpio lol. That said We still are unique as an individual regardless of our specie. Being a part of a specie doesn't mean we all are the same. As a specie correct and I would agree with what you said. But as an individual (which we all are) within the specie not. Good post though. Learned something cool. Never thought of it like that. 👍
@@aznsolja84 Yeah you're right on the money there. What makes us unique and so individualistic as humans is that we are all essentialy Tabularasa when we're born, blank canvas shaped by our experiences, decisions, interests, background, enviroment and ofc upbringing. I also really like how you brought up, related and transitioned the topic of the 4 elements over to astrology. While I do find some people (mostly women for some reason) highly exaggerate the importance of it's influence on their live and decisions, such as romance god forbid, I can't deny that I have amusingly very often found some truth and relation of people's character and personality traits coming pretty close to their respective starsigns. I myself am a Leo first and a Libra second, so Fire and Air respectively. I and my friends and family agree that I can appear arrogant, lofty at times but also very passionate energetic taking charge, all things associated with lions, which is ironic considering I'm 100% a dog person. Also the thing you mentioned about those signs influencing your fighting(?) or live style, I too funnily enough despite my preference and goal going towards Water, when recently picking/starting Martial arts I (or rather my stubborn temple of a body >_>) am still too much like my respective elements. Hasty, moving too much, overcommiting/thinking, having too little balance and being too hellbent on Power and Speed, instead of Endurance, Balance, Technique, observation and ofc timing, which I know to be more important. Speaking of ideal Style, since you said you are also tending more towards the advantages of water, and are prob someone who based on this show, might also enjoy anime, man do I have the perfect character for you, which is coincodentally the guy in my profile pic, Garou from the series One punch man. You surely have seen that phenomenal famous scene in Sherlock Holmes, where Holmes is in a ring against a burly and stronger brawler and executes a perfect series of counters in the style of Wing chun, mixed with other conventional attacks, right? Well, if you want a character that takes that concept to it's logical extreme, there you go. Imagine what Wolverine would be like if he had no obv apparent super powers relied on martial arts, but fought like renegade, dojo crushing Bruce Lee and you would essentially have the Human monster, Hero hunter Garou. (Though there's about at least 6 more comparisons like that I could draw.)
@@knowcomment4525 Well... star signs aren't that accurate. I'd say about 60-70% max. Regardless if it is an in-depth astrological read or analysis. There is still a big hit or miss aspect on play. I'll at least answer these before I fall on the hay. Speaking of late, what were you referring to when you said playing devil's advocate this late? Were you refering to yourself or to me, even my understanding of context is out of it's depth here with english being my second and only other somewhat competent used language, that's gonna keep me puzzled otherwise if not cleared up. Yeah, I do know Garou's entire character arc from his introduction to the epic and dramatic conclusion against Saitama at the end of the Monster association vs HA clash in the Webcomic. I wouldn't regard him as such a great Anti-Villain and relate to him more than any other fictional character if I hadn't read the entire webcomic until now, though I am curious which other phenomenal changes Murata will add onto it. I generally am too impatient when it comes to stories and media I'm interested/invested in, even if I learned about those by getting major spoilers, and then usually catch up to date. In the case of Attack on Titan though I'm glad I already followed the manga bc that's one of the only stories I feel gets ruined or soiled if you get spoilt. As for the starsign disc. I'm prob nowhere near as knowledgable and aware of all the details, I just knew my Sun sign (leo) and Rising sign (libra), but I looked up a calculator and I also got my Moon sign being Taurus, whose given attribites sound close enough. So that makes me primarily Fire, than Air and lastly Earth. Guess it makes sense then why I seek completion by assimilating Water traits then. Anyway was/is a pleasure talking to you, these types of convos are really rare but even more appreciated if they do happen. Feel free to reply, but don't expect an answer for about half a day. Cheers!😁😉😴
@SliceofOtaku Water bending is only over powered because the writers of the show nerf Earth bending. Just use Earth bending to take the ground from underneath your opponents and that stops them. It would work against that giant mech and it would have stopped that drilling machine in Ba-sing-say (however it is spelled).
I feel like airbending has the potential to be the most OP. Almost everything is surrounded by air. Seems like airbenders can control air pressure and force. By that sense they can use air to morph any element really however they want. I assume they can control things like air density and lack of air too, which means ideally they can create vacuums, and even compress mass in order to affect spacetime. Of course, this with the assumption that a bender can possibly have a very high strength and force cap.
I was thinking of airbenders floating around like Zaheer or simply creating a mini tornado around the victim and then asphyxiate them. Or as we saw in Korra, an earthbender heats up dirt and turns it in lava; well and airbender technically could firebend the same way firebenders (firebenders use no fuel, just oxygen, meaning they bend heat)
Airbending really does have the potential to be the most powerful. A key example is the non-canonical fan made bending technique of soundbending. It would be an airbending sub bending technique, where the user would vibrate the air in a certain area, creating sound waves. If I remember correctly, at around 200 Decibels, a human could be easily incapacited. 300 and I'm pretty sure you'd be dead. A lot of people don't seem to realize, Air is a pretty general term, typically refering to simply just Gas. in an episode of the legend of korra, I'm pretty sure in season three, airbenders are shown to be bending smoke, so we can kinda assume that airbenders can just bend gasses in general, not just oxygen. so maybe airbenders could couse you to burst by trapping the methane gas in your body? it would take a while though.
@@azekia Actually, an airbender likely couldn't firebend. the reason firebenders can bend lightning is also why they can bend fire. they don't bend heat, they bend plasma. Fire is plasma. lightning is also plasma.
@@Mushroompancake yes but if airbenders can vibrate the air so much that it heats up, it'll basically be firebending, since they can also amplify it by adding more oxygen to it, they would be very powerful. In a sense they could also waterbend or 'liquidbend' if they increased the density of any gas to a certain point. Imagine getting attacked with liquid nitrogen which is so abundant in the air as a gas
Woah there. You can't just look at Avatar Korra's waterbending feat from Book 4 and say any proficient waterbender could do the same... The greatest waterbending feats without The Avatar State, come from Avatar Roku and Avatar Korra. That's no coincidence. Avatars are more powerful benders.
Yeah, I agree. I thought it was kind of weird that he said any proficient waterbender could do what she did. Korra even though she uses water a little more sparingly compared to other elements is a pretty damn good waterbender in terms of raw power especially regardless of the Avatar status.
@@bradsw206 The only reason Korra defaults to fire is because she's the Avatar and doesn't need to carry a water jug. When there is some water around ... she'll use it.
@@frimi8593 Well, she can mudbend, but Swampbenders can bend the water inside of vines. It was extremely deadly during the Day of Black Sun, and in the comics, Katara can bend the water inside of leaves to use them as projectiles. Waterbending is extremely versatile, which makes it the most deadly or "overpowered" element.
@@frimi8593 Bro I get that you love Earth and I agree that it's a deadly element, but we saw Swampbending fending off firebenders even before the eclipse started, and do pretty well against Aang and Katara.
I'll note a few points. Waterbending is not actually OP, but rather it's the most OP element that you can show. Here's why. Many of the other bending abilities can do pretty much whatever you said about waterbenders, maybe apart from phase shift. If you're a creative bender, you can: Airbending -suck out the air out of an area -suck out the air out of someone's lungs -control their bodies with the gases in it -poison them with carbon monoxide or argon -create bubbles in their blood or brain by concentrating the air in their cells -manipulate local weather -slice anything with sonic winds Earthbending -pull out minerals/iron from blood -sink your enemies to the earth -seal body parts with rocks -Push earth into someone's mouth -smash someone into a paste Firebending -manipulate temperatures -manipulate lightning, and by extension, everything electrical -burn out the oxygen around someone As you can see, these are all lethal. Their only difference is you can't show an avatar brutally collapsing someone's lung - or anyone for that matter. They had to make airbenders pacifists as well, otherwise they can just do whatever. While I agree to an extent that waterbenders are great, the show just lacked proper imagination of dispatching enemies. Watch something like Heroes, X-Men or anything with adult elemental powers and you'll see the full extent of what elemental powers can do. They had to nerf many of the other elements for visual effect, otherwise Earthbenders will be smashing people flat on a regular basis.
yeah you definitely couldn't show the potential of the other elements on nickelodeon, makes me wonder what this show would have looked like on adult swim
Water bending is not op but it's very flexible. Water can be liquid, solid and gas. It's the only bending that has access to three states of matter. This is where the concept of changing comes with water bending (mentioned in Korra). Adding their concept of practice and discipline, this makes water benders pretty much able to show off during battles
I think fire bending is being underestimated. The reason the fire nation is so heavily industrialized is because of fire bending. Where all other nations would need coal or other materials to fuel their engines, fire benders can basically fuel their engines forever with their bending. Mechanized war machines, artillery, steamships and airships and you can neglect all advantages a water or earth bender could have - which is exactly what happened at the 100 year war. Fire is just the most useful element if it comes to logistics. And while battles are won by tactic and generals, wars are won by strategy and logistics.
Katara became combatively viable after less than a year of training, able to almost beat Azula in Ba Sing Se during the night. Waterbending is so overpowered that a novice bender can match trained masters of any other element.
@@sth5033 I mean novice in terms of experience bending. She had only been bending with training for a few months up to that point, while Azula had quite a few years on her.
Or how about the fact that toph has mastered not 1 but 3 other forms of Earth bending. Sand bending, metal bending, and (get this) MUD bending.... Witch is part water.....
@@aisforanimate4703 yeah theoretically earthbenders should be able to bend both blood (iron) and bone (calcium and other naturally occurring elements). Earthbenders should also be able to cause earthquakes and volcano's anywhere as well. Really the potential is limitless for all of the elements, they just havent explored them enough
So Bloodbending Healing able to get water out of fin air Able to demolish somebody's soul Tear Bending Energy Bending Plant Bending *wow this is really balanced*
@Chanel Oberlin I don't understand also waterbenders can take water from air but bloodvending is hard only strong waterbenders can bend blood. Human body's %70 is water how can only strong waterbenders bend blood
If you remember, most earth benders have to be in physical contact with the medium they're attempting to bend. And the only reason that Toph was able to develop metal bending was due to her seismic sense and being knowledgeable about how the metal was made and actually able to see the minerals themselves. So being able to bend bones in a person would require a very acute seismic sense at the very least, and being able to see or sense the minerals in the bones.
As a weakness you forgot to mention that the terrain itself when being helpful (with a lot of water) can be bad for you if you're facing someone that can create lightning [Mako vs. Ming Hua]
Since water benders can bloodbend and also turn liquid water to ice does that mean they could crystallise someone’s blood killing them instantly Also if they were proficient in healing and blood bending They could probably extend their life by quite a bit by just healing themselves constantly
Don't let this distract you from the fact that Hama taught Katara how to bend water out of thin air and Katara still uses those stupid water bottles to fight instead
jlouis j actually no, just like when Hama was in her cell she couldn’t bend water out of thin air because they kept the benders where it did not meet the requirements. This also goes to the original comment as to why she has to use those stupid water bottles because you can’t draw water from any air.

Maybe now you'll call this game balanced.
If air benders can control oxygen, they should be able to blood bend. Blood contains oxygen. Fire benders could strip the heat from a persons body or uses a form of lightning bending to control the nerves system of a person.
Jar'zeno Jarrett Oh that would be a sick ability of fire benders: controlling radiation. Heat being relative “easy“ to master and light only for a few.
If there is no oxygen, there is no water. For air is part water H2O. I’m sure if air-benders could control air like that than they would control everything and one coz the body and earth is about 50- 70% water. Damn just imagine what they could have done. Good thing they are peaceful people
@@w4114w The oxygen atom in H2O isn't a gas. Air benders can only control gasses as air is just a mixture of gasses. They can control oxygen (O2), they can't control water, however, they should be able to control water damp.

Water: Bend the water in someone's body, near instantaneous death. Air: Bend a vacuum around someone, death by lack of oxygen. Earth: Bend the Iron in human blood, near instantaneous death. Fire: Lightning.
I don't think the iron in our blood can be bent.... cause metal benders simply use the earth (impurities) inside the metal to metalbend(that is why they can't bend platinum)....so earthbenders only bend earth because it is "earth".......and not individual elements (as in chemistry)!!
Michael Bowman u forgot, fire can take away oxygen aswell so if a firebender surrounds u with fire long enough you’ll suffocate altho not as powerful as the others i guess
@@Bacontats There are tons of benders who can bend without moving. Zuko can breathe fire, Mako was seen conjuring a lightning bolt without the whole dancing routine. Aang as used in this example. Ming-hua bends without moving which means she could easily take out a bloodbender. We even see Toph and Bumi bend without having to move. (Mind you, it was old Toph, but still.) Bumi was just a street rat with no training what so ever. If he can learn how to bend without having to move I'm sure it's more widespread than you would imagine.
You said that Korra was able to do this without the Avatar State, but..... ( 2:43 ) it's worth noting that water is her base element and avatars are a lot stronger than other benders. A lot of the stuff Aang did with Air, Tenzin and Meelo can't do (use a staff to cut a giant rock). I have nothing against Legend of Korra, but bending seemed perfect during ATLA, and everything in LOK made a lot of things overpowered. Even bloodbending wasnt that overpowered in ATLA, due to the full moon
James Klaus Cosentino TLOK was amazing, plus I like how you don’t mention Sparky Sparky Boom Boom Man, he could firebend with his mind, that was proof that gifted benders exist.
Shrek is the best franchise and it tops anything. I didn’t mention him because he was ONE character. That’s the point. They had certain special powers but only a few people could do it and it was a show of mastery. In LOK they metalbend like nothing, lightningbend, everything that was master level/difficult became a basic ability in LOK and that’s wat ruined it.
airbending is the most lethal in my opinion but the monks didn’t want to use it for violence. zaheer created a vacuum around the earth queens face and suffocated her to death. dont you think airbenders could have demolished the fire nation inspite of the comets if they were not pacifists
They were the first nation to fly too. If they wanted to, they could've subjugated the entire world. If anywhere rebelled it would only take a few days to send an army
Airbending is not the most lethal, I think it's firebending, it took zaheer almost an entire minute to kill the earth queen , and it took too long for Zaheer to kill Korra with it, but lightning can kill in an instant, and fire itself is deadly, but yes air is lethal but not quick enough like fire or lightning
I agree with you GamaMan, to an extent. Most people don't realize an Airbender can out you in a ball of air and manipulate the air pressure inside to their liking and kill you.

I’ve always thought water bending was the most powerful. It balances well, in the sense that water is the most “rare” of the elements, with firebenders being able to create fire, air being everywhere, & earth also being almost everywhere. Being the strongest element, it makes sense that the element itself isn’t as abundant as the others. Also, I feel like water bending has the most sub skills. You can change the state of water, making it ice or steam. Healing, plant bending, bloodbending, etc. not to mention, like you said, that they get a “power up” during night, & even more so on a full moon. Bloodbending itself is also just very overpowered. I don’t think the full moon was necessary, but since water benders get such a big boost during the full moon, a lot of water benders probably aren’t able to bend without it. But it’s been showed that with practice, it can be done at any time. Also, I can imagine that waterbenders can literally kill other humans in less then a second, if they wanted to. They can drain all the liquid out of someone’s body, like how Hama did with the flowers, just leaving a dry dead corpse. The can also probably adjust the blood flow in order to kill you as well. Bloodbending could have been really good if used for healing purposes instead of just offensive, I wish they would have showed something like that.
I completely disagree with your point on Korra’s wave. No, not “any water bender” can pull that off. Korra could do it because she is a very powerful water bender and arguably the best in either show. Average water benders have shown to struggle with a lot less. Further, we’ve seen benders from other elements pull of powerful feats like this one with their own elements. Bumi bent Ozai’s statue and was chucking houses around like they beach balls. Aang air bent an entire stream of lava away in the “fortuneteller” episodes in what was an incredibly powerful display of air bending. Toph earth bent an entire library and kept it from falling
@@frimi8593 I agree, and disagree. I think that Earth benders are, defensively, the strongest benders, and they pack one hell of a good offensive defense. But I think Waterbenders have far more versatility and flexibility. What makes an Earth Bender stronger is their rigidity; they don't bend or break, but it's also their weakness. Waterbenders are known for being adaptable, and using their enemies own power against them. A Waterbenders can match an Earbender for brute Force, using ice, but they can also go around that force with liquid, or gas. Create an incredibly thick cloud of mist then immediately condense it on the target. Or turn it into razor sharp icicles and make them a pin cushion. Or make the most so dense they drown as they breathe. Water is just too versatile of an element that is always has an answer for any other matchup.
I think some people forget that these skills are hard to learn. Even in Korra's time, plenty of capable earthbenders couldn't bend metal. Zuko couldn't learn lightning and I am sure even less people know combustion. In the for most of the first season of ATLA, Katara was pathetic at waterbending to the point where it was a source of comedy.
@@frimi8593 Few comments on your ideas. 1. You're correct. Seismic sense appears to be able to be learned by any bender, just like bloodbending - rare, but only because people don't know about it. This means that Earthbenders and Waterbenders could both equally perform Tarlock's simultaneous attack and defence, with Earth probably winning due to being heavier and stronger than water. However, you need to be an incredibly specialised earthbender to learn seismic sense - we have only ever seen an Avatar, a blind person who uses it to see, or the daughters of said blind person use it. While Lin and Suyin both show that is is possible for non-Avatar and non-blind earthbenders to use it, the skillcap required is much, much higher than a waterbender's skillcap for simply raising a water barrier in front of themselves. In summary: Majority of waterbenders v majority of earthbenders, both attempting simultaneous offence and defence - waterbender wins. Top-tier Waterbender v top tier Earthbender - Earthbender wins. 2. The water canister v metal canister thing - in terms of element availability, Earth and Water are matched.. There are two, possible environments that are without water - a fully earth environment (desert / rock) or a fully metal environment (battleship, tall building, oil rig). Both of these environments contain an abundance of earth and sand / brick and metal, so both would far favour an Earthbender. But equally, for Waterbenders, there is the ocean, lakes and seas- an environment that fully favours a waterbender. Even with the invention of boats, all a waterbender would need to do is surf over to it, punch a hole it it with ice, and then move back and wait for the boat to sink. Waterbenders could (as seen with Ghazan's prison) construct a permanent settlement on water with absolutely no metal or earth nearby, and live there indefinitely, surviving only off fish and aquatic plants, and purifying the water by burning wood or bending out the salt. The same cannot be said for an all earth environment - human beings need to drink, so no matter what happens, there will always be water present in some form - this means waterbenders will have some sort of weapon available. And even in that environment, a Waterbender can bloodbend, as we saw when Hama learned the technique in an all metal prison. Placing both elements in as favourable an environment as possible - Water wins. 3. Bloodbending. First off - Psychic bloodbending does not necessarily imply psychic bending in general (apart from the Avatar). Only Yakone and Amon had this ability - it appears to be tied to Yakone's genetics, meaning that no psychic firebender or airbender is going to pop up any time soon. Secondly, only waterbenders and avatars (who are also waterbenders) have the ability to resist bloodbending in any capable capacity. Mako did do it, but the only thing he could to was sort of bend lightning in one direction - it was Amon releasing his grip that let him escape. If Amon had simply bloodbend Mako's arms to his sides, Mako would have been powerless. Compare this to Korra, who could move freely but with difficulty when she airbending kicked Amon, Aang, who became completely immune while in the Avatar state, and Katara, who was 100% immune to the technique BEFORE she bloodbent for the first time. Unless you are an Avatar, another Waterbender, or you are a lightning bender that gets extremely lucky, bloodbending is not defendable in any way. Water wins. To add, all waterbenders, even Swampbenders that don't live near ice, can phase-change water. This is an ability that Earthbenders cannot parallel unless they are a lavabender - once again like Yakone's psychic bloodbending, shown to be a skill inherent to specific individuals. Even the, Earthbenders can only change between solid and liquid, not gas - wheras waterbenders can do all three. Of course, lava is more destructive than water or ice - but a waterbender could easily fight a lavabender just by bending water at the lava and freezing it. Additionally, lavabending offers no non-lethal options, compared to waterbending - can't use it if you're in a non-lethal duel or if you're attempting to apprehend but not kill. Much like my first point - majority of waterbenders v majority of earthbenders - water wins. Top tier v top tier - a tie. (also, with the mech fight and the vast quantity of water used then - Korra is the avatar. Her non-avatar state bending is still superior to the vast majority of regular benders, and she may have even flashed her Avatar State eyes off camera before she used the move)
Bloodbending really highlights how op waterbending is. The end of ATLA Book 1 was meant to showcase the supposed “balance” between waterbending and firebending, but the later Books and LoK only made waterbenders stronger.
I think the elements are all pretty equally powered. Some people would just think water bending is the most powerful because of that scary blood bending and its probable connection to cutting off someone's bending. All the elements are dangerous and could be used to perform powerful feats. Air bending has been used to kill by taking all the air from a person's body and you can fly with it. Fire is pretty obvious since you could use it to roast someone like a chicken and is connected to lighting which can also pretty easily kill someone. Earth has metal bending which turns you to a glorified Magneto, sand bending which is like being Gaara from Naruto, mud bending, you can sense people's movements if their feet are touching the ground, and if your really special then you can even control lava which is pretty darn amazing. Respect really goes out to Toph's people sensing since it gives a form of "sight" to a blind person. You can't do that with the other elements. If someone who bends other elements is blind then that's just it for them.
@@lordwind9745 the electricity does not always start on their hand it can be in the air but even the if they make a dome to protect themselves the firebender can lava bend (if they know how) and cover the dome with it when that happens they can keep them in their with no oxegn or break it with lighting and hurt or kill them
In my opinion: Earth: best defensive power Fire: best raw offensive power Air: best mobility and adaptability Water: most versatile (kinda want to see a new, crazy extension of fire bending, or someone who completely mastered lightning bending)
Tbh I feel like water is only OP because more of the writers' creativity went toward developing it compared to the other elements. A strong enough airbender or avatar could conjure up storms just by moving enough air around and changing the air pressure and temperature. They could also crush your lungs by just compressing all the air inside. Now that I think about it, it may even be possible for them to manipulate you like with bloodbending because oxygen is such a common element in the body. A strong enough earthbender could probably manipulate all the minerals in your body that come from the earth.
The oxygen in the blood is bound, so it's a bit controversial to say they could bend the entire human body. And considering oxygen is found in our body only in minimal concentration does not help
@@XavierZara We don't know that for sure. Fire can go to other form of plasma. Earth to metal. Water to ice. Metalbending used to be thought as impossible. Bloodbending was too. Maybe Hemoglobin-bending is just a super hard and forbidden form that disappeared along with the air nomads? .....also, hope it would be call something more appealing if it did exist.... lol.
You've got it backwards mate. They actually nerfed waterbending a great deal as well as under-utilizing/developing/explaining it's more intrinsic mechanics and limits compared to other elements for the sake of balance. There's multiple aspects and elements that point to this. First of, out of all elements, water benders struggle the most with how much water is available, or the very least, where and how Water can be drawn from. This is pretty ridiculous or questionable for the following reasons. Water is present just about everywhere. Maybe not as much as Earth and Air, but still not quite as scarce and hard to come by or tucked/hidden away as the series would make you believe. There's Water in just about any soil, plant and organism in nature, and in modern city settings like Republic city, the drainage, sewers or just plain'ol regular Water pipes are so abudant that you would rarely require to carry Water on your person, if at all!(I still would for the sake of defense, but you get the point) That's not even taking into account the huge amount of water vapor present in most conditions, safe arid/desert like climates. Now you're probably thinking; "but all those examples are not pure water and hardly anyone seems to make use of them." That only strenghtens my point though. The thing is, we don't really know how difficult it is to draw/control water from organisms or the atmosphere, we do know however, thanks to Hama, that it is very much possible. Now imagine the following; Earth benders had to induvidually study and practise each and every composition of earth, soil or mineral before they could control it. Air benders could only bend if there was any noticable air currents/wind present (which would explain why the prefer high mountain tops oddly enough aside from isolation), and fire benders would need at the very least to create a spark to accomplish any fire bending. Not as useful as they were before, ain't it? Yet that's sort of the card most Water benders seem to be dealt in the series. Furthermore, waterbenders have quite honestly the largest pool of options and useful techniques than any other bender period. While quite a few of these were adressed in this video, there's so many instances in the series of Water benders underperforming and losing in situations, they really shouldn't have. There are also quite a lot of potent applications of bending that have been brought up once and never again, or some which are briefly touched but not fully realised. Say I was a waterbender and was really capable, but didn't have access to the most obv op ability, this is what I would do to differentiate myself from my fellow underachievers. First of ofc, make sure to make use of all water present, no matter how invisible or sealed away it might seem. Next, be apparently the first bender to make proper use of the seemingly obv 3rd component of the 3 states of matter equation that makes water bending so useful, in the first place, WATER VAPOR! It's outright criminal that the creators couldn't think of a single offensive bending technique involving Steam, like are you kidding me? Does anybody remember what kind of force said gas can accomlpish in steam engines? Heck, Isacc the ICE ALCHEMIST is a more terrifying yet effective Waterbender in this regard, just watch the first episode of Full metal Alchemist Brotherhood to know what I mean. On the topic of gas, let me continue with mentionning something I have wondered ever since the first book. Considering Katara at one point could create mist and shifted clouds, how come there was never any effort to concentrate their efforts on controlling the weather? At the very least one could make thunderclouds with significant time and effort, like imagine multiple benders brewing up a storm and raining hail and proper lightning on their foes! Yes, I said it. Lightning should (and most likekly was at one point) a water ability, not fire. But even if that wasn't possible for whatever reason, there's still plenty of broken options, you could make use of. If I had enough water available, my preffered strat would be creating a dense mist, while I used thermovision, followed by covering the ground/surface with slippery ice, which would make all those fancy acrobatics and dodges you see from most benders on defense pretty much obsolete. Even if you had a solid rock hard defense, if you're constantly surrounded by your Enemies element, while having next to no idea where he/I was at at any moment and also being heavily compromised in your movement options, what could you possibly do? Finally something less theoretical but confirmed, the aspect of bending Energy, to shut off bending in other people is confirmed to be a more advanced version of Water bending/healing. The general concept behind healing is clearing/restoring the flow of energy between the chakra in the body. So this is just the inverse of this technique. That is why Amon was capable of this and why Unalaq is one of the only people to ensnare Spirits. The reason this wasn't clearly spelt out, is that the creators felt that this made water look like the most powerful/advanced, which it still is, despite all the nerfs/restrictions they tried to put on it.
You really aren't being very imaginative about this whole thought exercise. Best instant kill: Water bender freezing all the blood and body-fluid of an opponent.
@@R0230R Bloodbending is merely a lost art. As Otaku even says; any waterbender can learn it. Remember in the Aang era, Lightning-Bending was extremely rare and it was thought that it took masters to do it? Well by the time the Korra era rolls around they were able to teach any factory worker or confused teenager like Mako to do it.
As for me, I think that all bending tecniques are in a constant loop with each other. Lava bending was used by avatar Roku even in first book of ATLA. And he was a fire bender at the beggining. Same with that guy from Korra, that was an earth bender. So, lava bending is kind of amalgamation of Fire and Earth bending simoltaneosly. Same goes for re-shaping the clouds: they're made frome vaporized water, water in gas state. So both Aang and Katara can "bending" the clouds. So every "non-main" bending is just combination of all other "main" bendings. Now, there is another thing. I noticed that every elemend is "assigned" with some characteristic: for water is to be smooth, adaptability, flexebility; for fire is destruction, risk, (un)control; for earth is stability, steadyness, will; and for air is unorthodoxness, focus, inner spirit. In other words, all elements lies in two categories - mental and physical activness.(Air with Water are mentaly active and Fire with Earth are mentaly passive, while Water and Fire physicaly active and Air with Earth are physicaly passive) When we talk about whater alone - yes, that is the most powerful bending. But why? Because of it's ADAPTABILITY AND FLEXEBILITY! Whater have the most uses in every state, in every given task. In liquid form it's a waterbending alright. In gas state water is close to the air bending. In solidified ice form water is close to earth bending. Water is kind of a bridge for almost all other elemens. Exept, maybe, the fire - water's opposite. But my theory, that blood bending is combination of water and fire bendings: water doing main job with managing body liquid, and fire making water magic much more dangerous. But when it comes to the Avatar cycle, my guess will be, that water bending is kind of the key to learning all other bendings, but in regards of "importance" all elements are equally needed. Water is the life itself, the biginning of everything, right? Water's "adaptability" is the main piece to learning all other elements. When Aang tried to learn fire bending from Jong Jong, fire came out of control. That's because Aang didn't have the inner will and steadiness from Earth bending, which even wasn't reachable for Aang's "airy" inner spirit without understanding water's "smoothness" and "Flexebility". In this case we see, that Earth bending is kind of opposite of Air bending and water is NEEDED to overcome this difficulty. The fire is last and hardest one for learning 'cause not of bending opposites, but inner character opposites and past bending learnings: water teaches adaptability, earth teaches stability and air teaches non-direct-violence. So when the time comes to tame, but still unleash inner beast - it's hard for Aang to do that on mental level, but not on bending level. So every Avatar probably faced the same difficulties in learning all bendings: the third one is his\hers bending opposites, while the last one is mental opposites for the avatar. Roku must had some troubles with water magic. It's flexebility was too opposite to more or less direct fire, but without air's focus and unorthodoxness it would be hard to learn water. While Earth was the hardest element to learn due to it's more passive and "grounded" approach in compare to other elements: fire's activity, whater's physical ability to change and air's mental flexebility. These three elements are all ACTIVE elements, but not earth. That's why Roku learned earth bending the last. Same goes for Kiyoshi - air's unorthodoxness is much harder to master than original earth steadyness. Withous fire's power control it's hard to learn. And water is the most hard to learn due to big difference between solid, hard, stedy earth and fluid, unpredictable, flexeble water. Maybe Kuruk was the same: the deadly, uncontrolable fire was too hard to learn in bending sence because without eath's steady ground for too unsteady water. And air is too "airy" mentally for already "grounded" person with way too strict elements of fire, earth and water. The last element to learn is like trying to destroy all erlier learned "preconceptions". For Airbending Avatar fire saying "Not every conflict can be dealt with adaptability, sometimes you need to fight or use force". For Firebending Avatar earth saying "No matter how much you or the world around you changes, sometimes you must to have a steady ground beneath you". For Earthbending Avatar water saying "Nothing is still forever, sometimes we need to compromise and change". And for Waterbending Avatar air saying "There is no dead ends. Until you have the inner will to do at least something - you're still have a chance".
Waterbending is not overpowered. It’s just been the most explored of all the elements so far. Katara was a main character, so of course it got spotlighted. And the next thing was that the next Avatar was a water bender. I’m honestly looking forward to seeing more earthbending. Like water, it is abundant, and everywhere. Like Water, it can be blended like air.
@@sameerpervez1165 It’s just been the most explored of all the elements so far considering the main villain of LoK Book 1 & 2 is both Waterbender. Unalaq had a powerfull spiritual power & Amon was a Bloodbender's master who could Bloodbend without a full moon to enhance his powers. However, unlike Tarrlok, Amon could perform the art using only his mind- a sub-skill called Psychic Bloodbending originally created by Yakone. Amon could levitate people using his mind alone and perform advanced body manipulation and torture techniques with minimal effort. He was even capable of Bloodbending multiple targets at once while still moving freely. A secondary aspect of Amon's mastery of Bloodbending was his ability to resist the influence of other Bloodbenders also a chi-blocking master, so he was able to incorporate the chi-blocking in his Bloodbending allowing him to use Bending Severing technique. This two Lok villain including the Foggyswamp Watertribe, Katara & Hama play an important role that allowed this element to be explored. The other element could just became as scary as other element, Airbender had an ability to amplified the sound, use astral projection and they could suck the air from other person also some of my friend propose that if Zaheer had a long and enough practiced for a fight purpose, he might be able to suck the air more quickly and efficient during real battle and brought it to a more dangerous level. Eventhough in Korra the metalbender could not bend pure metal, they might be able if they practiced hard for a long time & dedicated to it, i mean before Toph use metalbending everyone said Earthbender weak against metal despite one hundred year war and Earthbender being kept inprisoned in metal prison until Toph proof them wrong as Earthbender could also bend the metal. Firebender was said to be able control heat as Firelord Sozin was able to suck heat during the Avatar Roku death at the volcano, isn't it will be dangerous to human body ?
@@yagzyalcntas553 In the ATLK, we see the Bhanti Tribe using Firebending to sense Korra Avatar Spirit and they also mentioned firenbending as light and life energy in your body, the sun itself so maybe firebender can do something based on this to fact but still the Bhanti Tribe used the water to heal Korra. But you a right though, when you think about, it really does seem like the most overpower bending art as this explained waterbending was seen to gain power boost during full moon, raining, winter and theycan drew their power from their sweat, plant, ice, and virtually any type of water also Unalaq was shown to be able to use waterbending to crush a person soul. I try to find something similar for the other bending art but Firebending only get power boost during Sozin Comet and daytime compared to Waterbending during full moon and they had to wait for 1000 or 100 year? i can't remember while the two ? i don't know.
Mohd Ghazali Our bodies run on and contain minerals. If an Earthbender is proficient enough, they could. Idk. BEND THE MINERALS INSIDE SOMEONES BODY? And instantly kill them? SUCK OUT THE AIR FAST ENOUGH THEY DIE?! Take away ALL THE AIR and oxygen in someone’s body?!?! And it’s been shown Fire can heal. Fire, is the least explored of EVERY ELEMENT. I can’t wait to see the other elements
@Axroy Roblox Look at how quickly Aang can make his air ball. It's less than half a second and he created so much pressure that he could stand on it. I imagine he could explode your lungs in a fraction of a second.
@@luisrogelio98 I could actually imagine that being a really neat trick for an evil character to have. Be all clandestine and make people think they're hearing things. Not to mention the Ember Island Players version had Toph basically sound bending.
I think the thing is: Waterbending mastery is probably the hardest to do. Even the most insanely accomplished masters in the show rarely accomplish more than 2 or 3 aspects of the mentioned powers. If it was easy to learn and that powerful, waterbenders would rule the world. Instead it's the fire nation, probably for ease of learning and the insane industrialization capabilities that result from it. It's like the difference between a musket and a bow. For centuries after developing the musket, the bow was arguably the way better weapon. Better accuracy, more firepower and insanely faster reload speed. But the musket pulled ahead just because it is so easy to use.
@@dontneedtoknow9629 Yes really, only the extras, wich is what makes water stronger, won't be available while learning. The part that ties with the other styles is as easy, or hard, as the respective oposite.
@@ramzan_0095 You've got 1 shot with a musket and a pretty big reload time. With the bow, you've got all the arrows you carry and a reload speed of notching and firing. In terms of lethal blows per second, the bow has it.
I think Waterbending is op simply because it was given so much development in the original Avatar because it is the first bending introduced and continues to be developed for another three books. If the other styles were as developed I don't think this would be an issue I mean if you try hard enough, you think of some bullshit way worse than blood bending for the other elements. I think the other elements are two ambiguous from a scientific standpoint to be given the free reign water bending has had.
What are you talking about? Earth is the most developed element in the entire show. Waterbending debuted first but you don't see much of it in the show after the North Pole fight. It's mostly earth and fire.
@@onyxmagnum5762 I meant in terms of techniques and applications. Water bending has a consistent presence throughout the show because of Katara and it is developed throughout the entirety of the show. Earth bending is the second most developed through Toph's character but has had much more limited applications in terms of plot and combat than water. Metalbending and sandbending is just earthbending in slightly different states, which waterbending obviously has. There isn't anything groundbreaking that changes the way people see earth bending in terms of raw variety of applications. Throughout the show Katara uses bending in such a large variety of ways, as covered in the video. None of the other elements have that variety and therefore, none of them are as developed as Waterbending. I think we may be confused, i'm referring specifically to the original Avatar. I didn't watch the entirety of Korrah. But I still think that in terms of both series, Water is the most developed of the elements.
Earth bending gets lava bending in the last to arcs of Korra. There are probably a few other applications of earth bending you could come up with. Bone bending in order to heal bones when broken, or rearranging bones, which could be used to do some minor shape shifting for extended reach or disguising your face. Combine sand and lava bending, and you can create glass, earth bending with stone, glass and metal would make construction very easy, and glass has it's own huge variety of uses, for light magnification and redirection. Hell, even sand bending by itself can be used to create wind storms powerful enough to drive land sails. Really, it's air bending that gets some of the biggest nerfs. it's good for mobility, can be strong enough to deflect all other elements, and you're very rarely in a situation without air. In Korra, an evil air bender uses "void bending" by taking the air out of a persons lungs to kill them, which I guess could be scaled up to an entire room. Infinitely sustained flight is also possible, but there's a whole lot of guru spiritual stuff you have to go through, and while air bending is supposed to be the most spiritually inclined, it doesn't really do a good job of dealing with or interacting with spirits except for astral projection.
@@maxwellsimon4538 I mean, if you think about it for a second it becomes kind of obvious. Water benders get the spiritual stuff because it was passed down through generations. The Air Nomads were stamped out by the Fire Nation, so even if they were the most spiritual, there is no one left to give that knowledge to the new airbenders. The new generation basically had to start from scratch from what Aang knew, and he probably wasn't too far along in his training to learn that stuff. Earthbenders lack in mainstream spiritual techniques because of their grounded, pragmatic nature. Firebenders lacking them could be attributed to being under a military regime for so long, which would explain how such techniques flourish in isolated communities but aren't known by most people.
I have a question: could you use blood bending to SAVE someone. Let me explain: say if someone need CPR (which is manually pumping the heart to try and save someone) say if a good blood bender was gentle enough, a blood bender could pump the heart with there bending which helps with blood flow while simultaneously helping to recirculating the blood to carry oxygen to the brain then to the heart. It’s possible that if done correctly the blood bending could be a version of CPR which could actually save someone
Oscar Coello Bloodbending is bending the blood in ones body. Healing is mostly putting a kind of healing energy in water that you can put on a person to heal them.
The defense against bloodbending isn't being a bloodbender yourself (Katara resisted Hamma's bloodbending before she tried to use the technique herself), but rather being a stronger waterbender. That's why the avatar can always resist is in the avatar state. Yakone and his sons were particularly strong in waterbending as well as bloodbending, which is why only the strength of the avatar state was powerful enough to oppose their strength.
lets be honest waterbending is like three diffrent types bending you can bend ice, water, and blood which is the most overpowered i mean u can control someones blood amon could take away peoples bending
I agree, as of now known, waterbending IS overpowered, compared to other elements. However, I do believe this isn't because of the eements themselves, but because of the benders. Think about bloodbending. And think about WHAT ELSE is there in the human body to bend. Our bones are basically rocks - it's just there weren't any earthbenders to TRY bend human bones. And we did saw what a creative usage of airbending can do: AIRBEND ALL OXYGEN FROM YOUR LUNGS. Yeah, probably just as terrifying and powerfull as bloodbending. Spirit cleansing and healing might be attributed to waterbenders not because they waterbenders, but because they live near two giant spiritual portals? It is possible that other benders can develop healing powers, but it just wasn't their tradition? Like, it's not the element, it's schools of bending?
Earthbenders can't bend bone. The only reason why they can bend metal is because metal typically has smaller particles of earth in it. Pure metal cannot be bent because it's a pure element, there is no diluted earth particles in it. Bone is pretty much calcium phosphate. There aren't any earth particles in bone as it's a pure element. Obviously this is all theory, but realistically speaking, earthbenders shouldn't be able to bend bone...based on the science of bending and the periodic table.
Yeah like what if someone just metal bent all the iron from your blood killing you or someone in theory could knock out an entire electrical grind with lightning and steal a ass load of shit while the cell towers were out
Bloodbending is powerful but also comes by sacrificing something very important: your sanity. All those who used bloodbending had no regards to the pain they inflicted, except for Katara but that was because she was in a rage and managed to snap out of it. What you might forget is that a building isn't just a pile of stone, it is far more a complex structure than just a wave of water. And when poisoned, Kora needed earthbending because of the metal property of the poison. In the end, yes. Some elements are more powerful than others but they all are tools with ups and downs. All depends how to use it.
The original bloodblender was already going insane, biding her time until the full moon had happened. Once she was broken out and on the run, she was already too far gone. The other bloodbenders were people that were in a position of political power, so they go insane from that along with the power of bloodbending. Katara never really went insane because when she used it, it wasnt out of a need to be in a place of power or as a backed into a corner animal. It was out of self defense. I dont think bloodbending has a real weakness because all these benders were insane far before bloodbending came into the picture
@@sorafowler4497 Neither Amon or Tarrlok were insane before blood bending as they were kids living a normal life until Yakone started their training. Katara also never went insane since she rarely used it. The reason Katara had it banned was because it drove people insane.
Never really considered how the waterbender's full moon power-ups are pretty madly OP. I think maybe a power-down during the New Moon could be a good counter to this.
I think the elements are all pretty equally powered. Some people would just think water bending is the most powerful because of that scary blood bending and its probable connection to cutting off someone's bending. Lol same, like why is this a thing. All the elements are pretty much OP when used by a master. Zaheer, Hama, Toph and Azula all make their elements look ridiculously OP.
Tho our blood has an element of iron so earth benders can blood bend too... earth benders doesnt seem to understand what theyre power is coz earth itself is earth and has core in it and a molten lava below us cause of the hot core in our planet earth benders are surrounded with its own power and if they can control the core they probably can control the gravity of a place or anything they want I KNOW IM AN ADDICT HAHAAHHAAH
But it only works if the earth bender is a god it'll tire them up if they use the core cuz its far below us and the world of avatar is that when they use powerful feats they'll tired and sleepy thats why i dont like the world of avatar but i love the story of ang NOT THE MOST IDIOT AND USELESS AVATAR "KORRA"
Riri Pari but the scary thing is even though you are a realy powerfull waterbender that doesnt mean you can bloodbend, But even a 7 year old airbender can do the zaheer thing even though they arnt powerfull
Because the writers said they want to move on and feel like they already discovered the avatar world enough and wanted work on other projects and cartoons.
Your kind of right, but for earthquakes you'd need an army of trained Earth benders all working in sync, firenados would just be a pipe dream since that during the comet when they got a huge buff to their strength they only really used flamethrowers as a firenado would be difficult for them unless they had powerful air benders, and it would be difficult to make windstorms fatal since you'd either need to kill the people by creating enough force to break bones which would be extremely difficult or you'd need to create powerful winds capable of knocking down buildings which would also require alot of well trained air benders. Where as water bending has more frequent buffs, there's alot more water in the world so there's alot more water that can be moved while not taking as much training to cause large floods and less continuous work, a skilled enough water bender can blood bend (the blood bender in the last airbender was self taught and was able to control people like puppets) on full moons, maybe even during any night with proper training, So I do think that water bending is pretty powerful, even a few water benders can defend against large amounts of soldiers with more advanced weapons, and water benders have amazing healing abilities that could heal potentially fatal wounds with normal water, with good healing water a water bender is able to effectively resurrect people just as long as the water bender gets there fast enough (Ang's pierced heart was healed with said special water). So I'd say that water bending is the most powerful bending all things considered, but the other benders do serve their purposes. Earth bending is good for construction and demolition, fire bending is good for exploring (living torch, jets), Air bending is good for transportation, and all the bendings are good for entertainment.
I think they're all balanced, honestly. Earth is strength: a bending with impenetrable defense, yet an overwhelming but vulnerable offense. Water is versatility: a style of bending that is adaptable and versatile with no real weaknesses other than lack of accessibility on most human civilizations. Fire is power: a style of bending with an insurmountable offense, which makes up for the lack of defense. Air is free: a style of bending that is equally balanced on offense and defense due to its invisible nature and accessibility of the element itself.
Well, the "lack of accesibility" is not a problem, because the most powerful ones can take the water from the flowers, trees, sweat, clouds, haze, and even more. And there is still blood bending. So, they couldn't use (most of) their power if they are in desert (but even there, there is cactus), or in a empty building that wouldn't be too hot or cold (because waterbender can bend almost any types of liquid, so if there is books, they could maybe use the anchor to bend). Yeah boy, water is really powerful.
@@ibabul7865 Yeah that's still just proving my point all of that is a bit inferior to actual large bodies of water, you also can't just expect to see cactuses roamin' around in deserts because those aren't aplenty. Likewise, a true bender has plenty of appreciation for nature and to drain a source of life from the soil for the sole purpose of violence is against the cause. Blood-bending is aforementioned, but still not attainable: 1. Almost nobody can do it, lol. 2. Those who can wait for the full moon. 3. The two people who could do it without a full moon are DEAD. *That being said, I already think that waterbending is by far the most overpowered bending skill, and there is nothing to prove to me.* And only an idiot water bender is walkin' around without a source of water on them for self-defense, so these are measures taken due to *lack of accessibility.* This is one of the biggest reasons that the water tribe essentially built defenses and is unable to go around invading other nations: they are significantly weaker outside of their home court.
Actually all elements are pretty much broken if you master them to the point of becoming god. Air, you could pull out the air out of your enemies lung Water, bloodbending Earth, there is enough iron to make a nail in your body and if you could control every iron inside human body you could create nail inside human body and choke or just stab silently Fire, if you could transfer your breath to your enemies lung you could ignite and burns the organ inside enemies body
but irons a metal, toph bends the remains of earth found in metal so like idk about earth benders having enough material in the human body to do damage vs the fact humans are 70% water
Acuvter Humans do not have that much iron in their blood. Humans have roughly 2.6×10^-2 power iron in their blood. Which is about as much as taking a chunk of iron and chipping a piece off with your pinky nail.
Earth benders can't bend pure metal itself. They can only bend metal because there are impurities (earth particles) within the metal that they can manipulate. The iron in our blood is nowhere near any earth because our bodies actively clean themselves and expel all dirt and waste.
@@shellshockedbros4458 yeah but push them into the brain...yikes. Dunno if earthbenders can actually bend metal though. Maybe just the impurities in it.
Iron in our blood haemoglobin is miniscule to the volume of an red blood cell, a haemoglobin protein only has four iron atom resedue, so even with god tier talent, it would be impossible for earth benders to move that much metal.
yoU WHAT?! Water has the most dangerous skill but blood bending is the rarest special ability in all the elements i think after air (flying) but what i mean a waterbender cant do it like its nothing or train it like metal bending of lightning bending, so is water bending realy the most powerfull element? Cause what if korra faced bumi (with only waterbending) even though korra is a powerfull waterbender she cant blood bend, so that means she only needs to do the Natural bending, would she win? Even though its a old man?
Air and Oxygen are pretty different, While Oxygen is a big part of our Air, Air is a Mixture of Different gasses (Nitrogen, Argon and some others I think), so I don't think Airbending is the manipulation of O2 Molecules or O atoms, more like the manipulation of this mixture of gasses
@@LuminousWhispers11 bones are made of calcium, in theory, calcium is a mineral that is bendable like a rock, plus, there is a canon theory of a boy that killed his bullies with bone bending but it was literally buried by the earth kingdom.
Being able to do that is literally distorting molecular structure. Pretty much no one could be that precise. Bloodbending for example, uses the many water molecules inside a blood cell, so they don't have to be nearly as precise as taking atoms from a molecule. Sorry if this is lengthy but it is what it is.
Yes, hypothetically possible but arguably impossible as it would need full understanding of how brain works. Like how information is "encoded" and travels using the electrical signal.
It could be disputed that theirs that fire thing that happened in the karate kid. And the purple bending thing keeps the soul in perogatori state you can not destroy ones being.
Like what uncle iroh said. They do not control the lighting element, they just have to guide it or direct it. Unlike other elements they can control it whenever they want. But lightning, nahh.
As soon as they introduced blood bending this became an indisputable FACT. I mean COME ON! That is the definition of unfair even if u take into account lightning and lava bending.
The Otaku Dragon Slayer Depends on the type of bloodbending. If it is psychic bloodbending then yes it is incredibly unfair. If it is traditional bloodbending then it can only be used during full moons.
@@0816M3RC Technically there isnt such a thing as traditional bloodbending as I think its already implied that any waterbender/bloodbender is able to do it without the moon. Katara took only 1 episode to learn it (practically to a full extent especially with the other episode where she find the guy who killed her mom and thats going without weeks of doing any bloodbending) while Hama took years horning the skills with rats and then guards and so does Amon and his brother. @I I don't think it was implied Toph/Korra used earth bending to have the spirit root/vines' vision, it looked like a pure spiritual connection (no bending) for me.
Imagine a fire bender, that uses it in a defensive way. Completely anihilating anything coming at him/her with just simply heating up his surrounding to a breaking point of each element while maybe even becoming heat-proof themselves.
water covered by video: +defensive and offensive +ice transformation +power buffs +healing +bloodbending water potential yet undiscovered: +steam bending (allows use of steam-powered trains) (or maybe fire benders can do that, as they did in their industrial age) +wombo combo power with lightning (maybe Avatar or duo+ team can execute this combo) (only possible if mixed with conductible minerals) +controlling the clouds and the weather (convenience or/and has other battle uses like putting out fire) +surgical use (repositioning of the organs and limbs while keeping the blood flowing through them) +weed control, lol. take water from them and they die. perfect garden achieved.
You could also kill anyone instantly by freezing the water (or even just some part if it) in their cells. Or by earthbending all the minerals and restricting the blood flow in the vessels.. or just combusting the opponent. Every element is quite deadly if you think of it.
@@noutsakh.2135 true, but i think changing the temperature of an element is complete bullshit honestly. Its 'bending' the element, not completely controlling every aspect of it.
@@sulaimans I understand where you're coming from but think of it this way: what is temperature? It's the way molecules are aligned in the structure right? When something is hot it means its molecules are moving faster and when something is cold it means they are either still or moving very veeery slowly. That means you are bending the element's molecules - you make them stand still when you wanna freeze the water or you let them move when you want to turn it into the water again. (I hope it's understandable, English is not my first language)
@@noutsakh.2135 Temperature is actually the measurement of the amount of heat, or thermal energy, something possesses, not the way molecules are aligned.

If firebenders can manifest fire by just heating up the air and combusting it, shouldn't they also be able to transfer heat? As in being able to completely freeze a person both from the inside and outside by just pulling heat from them, by effect also being able to phase shift any element. And by this logic, if someone hypothetically had the ability to do this like the bloodbenders in TLOK, they could go toe to toe with a bloodbender by literally freezing their mind.

Welcome back!
Hello there
Your late
ooo
Hey
yeah its weird seeing everyone come back to the fandom
That said
We still are unique as an individual regardless of our specie.
That said lol.. I'm a libran Sun 😂 a scorpian heart and a capricons will lol (if you are a but familliar with indept astrology).
But ya I do understand why you are interested in speed and power. Because that is how you are individually (per what i know of aatrology and the elements). Most people choose things to their liking based on who and what they are innately. Which in your case: leo fire sign (power/passion/warm). Flowing like the river isn't that easy for passion driven people lol. It's tough since I'm trying to learn fire people things as a natural water flowing bender 😂. But balance I know you can achieve. Although will be a bit hard. It isn't easy to tame a flame and maintain balance. Flames moves wildly and are vigorful.
And anime? Yes sir I do 😂
Garuo well.. hmm I do kind of see some resemblance lol. Since I'm acting as a devils advocate if late 👿 lol. But what I do like about him is his precision is amazing.... calculating every move before he unleases it all. Spoiler alert (if you haven't watched the manga) Genos figured Garous style when he attacked Genos.
Come to think of it.. I'm kind of like that 😂 dodging deflecting analyzing for that one momment to pounce with all. Lol (if I would ever go on a fight). Well that's my natural style anyway.
And yuuup.. on the Sherloc Holmes movie.. that is/was my favorite scene. I have a big thing with precision and flawlessness.
@@aznsolja84 So just came back from the gym, (regular one, not fighting), which is kind a of crap shoot considering it's 1 am here right now in Austria and I do have to work tomorrow/today but, whatever I'm still young and vigorous (25 is still considered young right?) I'll at least answer these before I fall on the hay.
Cheers!😁😉😴

Clayton Griffith Is that your way of saying you didn’t own a high powered hose?
When I was little I had the need to be the water bender. I of course enjoyed my role as the puppet master 💖
@SliceofOtaku
Water bending is only over powered because the writers of the show nerf Earth bending. Just use Earth bending to take the ground from underneath your opponents and that stops them.
It would work against that giant mech and it would have stopped that drilling machine in Ba-sing-say (however it is spelled).

Same.
I think airbenders are so underrated but I think they are powerful
@@davigurgel2040 you can also change pressure and that could devastate the opponent, or fill them with air and they would pass out and other things 😂
They can probably suck out the air in the lungs too
Airbending really does have the potential to be the most powerful.

I'll note a few points. Waterbending is not actually OP, but rather it's the most OP element that you can show. Here's why. Many of the other bending abilities can do pretty much whatever you said about waterbenders, maybe apart from phase shift. If you're a creative bender, you can:
Airbending
-suck out the air out of an area
-suck out the air out of someone's lungs
-control their bodies with the gases in it
-poison them with carbon monoxide or argon
-create bubbles in their blood or brain by concentrating the air in their cells
-manipulate local weather
-slice anything with sonic winds
Earthbending
-pull out minerals/iron from blood
-sink your enemies to the earth
-seal body parts with rocks
-Push earth into someone's mouth
-smash someone into a paste
Firebending
-manipulate temperatures
-manipulate lightning, and by extension, everything electrical
-burn out the oxygen around someone
As you can see, these are all lethal.
You could also impale someone with earth or have them be swallowed up by the ground
Facts
The earth benders can even make their very own volcano or control lava like water benders do.

I have nothing against Legend of Korra, but bending seemed perfect during ATLA, and everything in LOK made a lot of things overpowered. Even bloodbending wasnt that overpowered in ATLA, due to the full moon
korra felt like a shounen anime with it's escalation of power, especially water and earth bending.
I agree Korra’s depiction of bending got too ridiculous. The original series had checks and balances that made it feel more fleshed out and fair.

Toph earth bent an entire library and kept it from falling
cough Mary Sue cough
@@frimi8593 Dynamo7
@I But there is watervapor in the air that master waterbenders can access.
What exactly can a waterbender do against a firebender's lightning?
Edax they can make a dome of water which makes them basically immune to lightning, if they wrap water around their hand they electrocute themselves.
@@lordwind9745 the electricity does not always start on their hand it can be in the air but even the if they make a dome to protect themselves the firebender can lava bend (if they know how) and cover the dome with it when that happens they can keep them in their with no oxegn or break it with lighting and hurt or kill them
In my opinion:
Earth: best defensive power
Fire: best raw offensive power
Air: best mobility and adaptability
Water: most versatile
(kinda want to see a new, crazy extension of fire bending, or someone who completely mastered lightning bending)
Agreed.
(Kemurikage Azula arguably completely mastered lightningbending btw.)

The only thing that stopped Yakone from killing the Avatar was the Avatar State. That OP
Omg i'm so happy you're making videos about avatar!! Can't wait for the next one :D
Well more important is that they straight up gave waterbenders with low amounts of water thick plot armor.
Oxygen in the blood is not in a gaseous state, so air bloodbending isn't possible
The thing is, we don't really know how difficult it is to draw/control water from organisms or the atmosphere, we do know however,
thanks to Hama, that it is very much possible.
CoffeeCaveman Yeah that’s the same thing that I was thinking but I think it would have to be a full moon for it to happen
Or just destroy a major atery in the body
I'm sure only someone as skilled on blood-bending(considering you freeze purely the blood) as Amon could pull that off.
"Water freezes, water boils. Either way you're just as dead."
In other words, all elements lies in two categories - mental and physical activness.(Air with Water are mentaly active and Fire with Earth are mentaly passive, while Water and Fire physicaly active and Air with Earth are physicaly passive)
When we talk about whater alone - yes, that is the most powerful bending.
Thats beautiful. I agree with mostly of what you just said here Dan
Omg that are amazing mind

This is the best comment I ever read. Wow
But Korra doesn't even use that much water bending, especially not very advanced

But you a right though, when you think about, it really does seem like the most overpower bending art as this explained waterbending was seen to gain power boost during full moon, raining, winter and theycan drew their power from their sweat, plant, ice, and virtually any type of water also Unalaq was shown to be able to use waterbending to crush a person soul.
I try to find something similar for the other bending art but Firebending only get power boost during Sozin Comet and daytime compared to Waterbending during full moon and they had to wait for 1000 or 100 year? i can't remember while the two ? i don't know.

Water has always been my favorite
Yeah, I wish I could actually waterbend in real life, rarely going to the hospital again!
But that isn't a weakness though. It just means the other bender reach their ceiling faster, while the water bende can still get stronger.
Cassio Henrique Not really, since hard to master also means not available when ur learning it, so potential power isn't power u have atm.
The bow more firepower than a musket? Bullshit.
@@dontneedtoknow9629 Yes really, only the extras, wich is what makes water stronger, won't be available while learning.

They nerfed air bending because the people practising it was all about peace and non-violence.
Interesting qestion
They would have to know the location of the veins and arteries id assume, and be very specific. Probably not possible
good thought bro, but still which, not witch hehe ;3
Krodez Beats It probably is possible if you know where it is and waterbenders could probably sense it.
Korra in base also was able to escape being blood bended
@Grim so? She still resisted tho
lets be honest waterbending is like three diffrent types bending you can bend ice, water, and blood which is the most overpowered i mean u can control someones blood amon could take away peoples bending
How are human bones similar to rocks?
Earthbenders can't bend bone. The only reason why they can bend metal is because metal typically has smaller particles of earth in it. Pure metal cannot be bent because it's a pure element, there is no diluted earth particles in it. Bone is pretty much calcium phosphate. There aren't any earth particles in bone as it's a pure element. Obviously this is all theory, but realistically speaking, earthbenders shouldn't be able to bend bone...based on the science of bending and the periodic table.
fire benders can use healing
Air benders can astral project
All depends how to use it.
swissagent it doesn’t effect your sanity it’s just all the people who do it are insane in the show
The original bloodblender was already going insane, biding her time until the full moon had happened.
They are powered down during the New Moon, during a Lunar Eclipse waterbending isn't possible
Riri Pari but the scary thing is even though you are a realy powerfull waterbender that doesnt mean you can bloodbend,
But even a 7 year old airbender can do the zaheer thing even though they arnt powerfull
Zaheer is so grossly overrated. He was cool, but he wasn't on Tenzin's level or anywhere close to Aang. Flight only works for running away.

@@australia4011 Reggea Shark is Real!
@@jeroencuypers2703 RIGHT?!?
Blood-bending is aforementioned, but still not attainable:
1. Almost nobody can do it, lol.
2. Those who can wait for the full moon.
3. The two people who could do it without a full moon are DEAD.
*That being said, I already think that waterbending is by far the most overpowered bending skill, and there is nothing to prove to me.*
And only an idiot water bender is walkin' around without a source of water on them for self-defense, so these are measures taken due to *lack of accessibility.*
This is one of the biggest reasons that the water tribe essentially built defenses and is unable to go around invading other nations: they are significantly weaker outside of their home court.
Actually all elements are pretty much broken if you master them to the point of becoming god.
Air, you could pull out the air out of your enemies lung
Water, bloodbending
Earth, there is enough iron to make a nail in your body and if you could control every iron inside human body you could create nail inside human body and choke or just stab silently
Fire, if you could transfer your breath to your enemies lung you could ignite and burns the organ inside enemies body
but irons a metal, toph bends the remains of earth found in metal so like idk about earth benders having enough material in the human body to do damage vs the fact humans are 70% water
*air has left the chat*
*fire has left the chat*
*earth has left the chat*
Lol
sponge bob a great classic.
Boogy on down!
Even though its a old man?
water has left the chat
cause of the laughably broken Yakone bloodbending.
aside from waterbending being totally broken, airbenders could potentially force pure oxygen into someone's lungs and kill them instantly
Tape the can control the oxygen in the blood and then make then fly lol
Bro technically airbenders could blood bend too🗿💀
But oxygen isn't air
jconjello ye it is, it's a form of air they can control it's been said in avatar
Ah yes, a story of the gay priest and pure oxygen
Couldn't air benders just like control the oxygen from water (and fire) and basically control those two elements?
Air and Oxygen are pretty different, While Oxygen is a big part of our Air, Air is a Mixture of Different gasses (Nitrogen, Argon and some others I think), so I don't think Airbending is the manipulation of O2 Molecules or O atoms, more like the manipulation of this mixture of gasses
Couldn’t Earthbenders bend people’s bones and snap their necks in a second?
@@LuminousWhispers11 bones are made of calcium, in theory, calcium is a mineral that is bendable like a rock, plus, there is a canon theory of a boy that killed his bullies with bone bending but it was literally buried by the earth kingdom.
Being able to do that is literally distorting molecular structure. Pretty much no one could be that precise. Bloodbending for example, uses the many water molecules inside a blood cell, so they don't have to be nearly as precise as taking atoms from a molecule. Sorry if this is lengthy but it is what it is.
me when im reaching
Since lightning bending turned out to be a common thing then fire-benders can bend people's neural system. Prove me wrong.
Yes, hypothetically possible but arguably impossible as it would need full understanding of how brain works. Like how information is "encoded" and travels using the electrical signal.
Like Iroh said: “Once you separate the energy you do not command it you are simply its humble guide.”
Raffy nope katana don’t understand the full body and she can still blood bend
Fingolfin maybe fire benders can treat gay
Fingolfin manieral bending
LET'S GO!
The Roundtable WOO HOO🥳
OMG THE ROUNDTABLE
❤❤❤❤
You guys are awesome
Where ?
It could be disputed that theirs that fire thing that happened in the karate kid. And the purple bending thing keeps the soul in perogatori state you can not destroy ones being.
Honestly I've always been more interested in Earth and Fire but Water... Well let's just say that's...
OUT OF MY DEPTH OHOHOHOHOHOHOHO
...That somehow deserves a facepalm AND a high five.
That's terrible and awful... And I find it hilarious
Nice. XD
I just had a thought I wonder if a master lightning bender could manipulate the electrical impulses inside a human brain?
That- I- okay- I am not going to sleep tonight, that’s for sure
I've always wanted to know
me when i reach
The moon is just there to enhance the abilities of a waterbender to the possible fullest extend but yeah, waterbending op eversince they can heal, control plants, blood bending and spirit bending
It just up to the imaginations of how one is creative about their bending which can make them op
@@isham2044
Well the seismic sens byfong uses spands across counties. You can attack a person without laying eays on them and i think any earth bender can learn it. That sound pretty op to me.
Not sure how far the attack of a eath bender can reach tho or if its farther then a blood benders reach.
@I
Are you sure? I thought the ppl who made the show said she can do that anywere.
@I I don't think it was implied Toph/Korra used earth bending to have the spirit root/vines' vision, it looked like a pure spiritual connection (no bending) for me.
Imagine a fire bender, that uses it in a defensive way. Completely anihilating anything coming at him/her with just simply heating up his surrounding to a breaking point of each element while maybe even becoming heat-proof themselves.
water covered by video:
+defensive and offensive
+ice transformation
+power buffs
+healing
+bloodbending
water potential yet undiscovered:
+steam bending (allows use of steam-powered trains) (or maybe fire benders can do that, as they did in their industrial age)
+wombo combo power with lightning (maybe Avatar or duo+ team can execute this combo) (only possible if mixed with conductible minerals)
+controlling the clouds and the weather (convenience or/and has other battle uses like putting out fire)
+surgical use (repositioning of the organs and limbs while keeping the blood flowing through them)
+weed control, lol. take water from them and they die. perfect garden achieved.
Waterbenders should be able to bend anything with H2O Molecules
Everything is soluble in water , not for any reason ot called universal soluble
@@astradastarad1477 How dumb is that. Oil is soluble in water? Omg kill me.
Which Hama did
Can't u technically kill someone instantly with air bending by making a big enough bubble of air in one's blood stream? That's instant death. 🤷♂️
Thank you
You could also kill anyone instantly by freezing the water (or even just some part if it) in their cells.
@@noutsakh.2135 Temperature is actually the measurement of the amount of heat, or thermal energy, something possesses, not the way molecules are aligned.
now that you create avatar videos, i have subscribed
Michael Maina
I was gonna subscribed after the pan pizza podcast appearance but this made subscribing priority.
@@HeilRay lol as all things avatar related, "just another day as the avatar" 😂😂
Same
except u know. an airbender can drop airpressure anywhere theoretically
I wish avatar was like pokemon
You must be shapeless, formless, like water...
When you pour water in a cup, it becomes the cup. When you pour water in a bottle, it becomes the bottle. When you pour water in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Water can drip and it can crash.
Become like water my friend.
@Hades lol!!
Stolen from bruce lee
when you pour water into a leaf it becomes an air bender
The element of cnange
Trying sooo hard to be deep
If firebenders can manifest fire by just heating up the air and combusting it, shouldn't they also be able to transfer heat? As in being able to completely freeze a person both from the inside and outside by just pulling heat from them, by effect also being able to phase shift any element. And by this logic, if someone hypothetically had the ability to do this like the bloodbenders in TLOK, they could go toe to toe with a bloodbender by literally freezing their mind. IDK tho because maybe a waterbender could do the same thing
Water benders can only freeze the water but thats j by changing its state, fire benders can literally energy bend
As a child I used to always run around the house saying I'm a water bender. Legend has it even in my adult years I still feel the same way..
me too
you cant use the 'Legend has it' if you talk about yourself
Me too bro
