Don't forget Monk Gyatso's skeleton and the >dozen firebender corpses surrounding him. Not burnt corpses, but still pretty dark considering the show's target age.
If you think about it, Avatar would've been a really gory show, because: Waterblades flying at extremely high speed; Just regular rocks flying at extremely high speed; Fire. Just fire. Bloodbending is a thing that...exists. Metal flying around at extremely high speed; Just regular weapons; Also bombs because that's also a thing that exists, etc.
When Uncle Iroh explained to Zuko the balance of the four nations he also spoke of how benders of one element become more powerful by adopting the techniques of another element. He went on to demonstrate this with lightning bending, utilizing the fluid movements of waterbending which enables firebenders to briefly separate yin and yang. The waterbending aspect of the discipline is vital in the control of lightning as well as redirection. When battling Hama, Katara used an earthbending technique. Along with the water going back and forth between them, there was a moment when Hama also drew water from large trees behind her and unleashed what would have been a devastating attack of volume and speed. Katara stood fast and obliterated the torpedo without a waterbending defense. Instead of seizing control of the water or blocking it with ice, Katara faced it head-on like an earthbender. Wondering if you can explore other examples.
Woah man... +I would like to add In Ba Sing Se, Uncle Iroh and Zuko were called to Royal palace but when they found out that it was Azula they ran. Uncle Iroh blasted the wall through lightning but Zuko refused to go with him. Then when Azula's men attacked him, he used a firewall for defense. A technique mostly used by the waterbenders. 😊😄😊
There was also Jeong, the first Firebending teacher of Aang's. He created giant walls of fire that were very similar to tidal waves, and he even admitted himself that he wishes he was a Waterbender. So, he certainly wields his Firebending in a very Waterbender-like style.
Just realised, that the dragons showed the full potential of firebending! Azula mastered one half of firebending. The part of emotions as inner drive, making her fire hotter and blue. Zuko understood the more spiritual part of firebending. To understand fire as an extension of someone’s living energy and setting goals in order to achieve greatness. This changed the sound of his bending. Zukos flames create a hissing sound after the sun warrior episode. In his final fight with azula you could even hear a roaring sound
They reflect Ozai and Iroh. Ozai is the epitome of the power of Firebending while Iroh is the perfect example of someone embracing the *ART* of Firebending.
i alaways figured that to make blue flames one had to be extremly skilled in controlling the ratio of fire to air in their bending, wich might even be a genetic trait or only comes with extreme practice. and azula being a prodige and very focussed on being the best firebender, remember that most of the time we dont see her on screen shes probably training, and also having the genes off two extremely powerfull and great firebenders off the past, resulted in her eventually gaining that much controll of her fire that it burns perfectly almost all of the time. and we know she is skilled since lightningbending normally requires inner peace and a good state off mind, yet she was still able to do so when she was completly off the rails and extremely confused. wich in turn proves that for her its either that shes so skilled at bending that she can neglect the requirements or that when shes bending shes solely foccused on bending, clearing her mind of most everything else, wich would make more sense.
In my opinion, lightning bending was only rare because the technique was closely guarded by the royal family. In TLA we only ever see nobility lightning bend. The fact that lightning bending became widespread is a testament to Zuko's character as a ruler, he chose to teach it to the people instead of keeping it to himself. This was also probably very good for the economy and developing the nation. Lightning benders are essentially walking green energy sources and all you need to do to get one is hire a lightning bender.
Lightning bending was supposed to be like metalbending, but more mysterious. The only reason lightning bending was only used by benders like Ozai, Azula, and Iroh is because they are part of the Royal Family. And if you're a bloodthirsty ruler that wants to rule the world, do you think you want other people know about this technique? Where people can adapt the technique and challenge you? In TLOK having almost every firebender lightning bend makes sense for Zuko's doing.
Fire bending has always been my favorite, I guess because I've always liked how Prince Zuko pretty much changed his fighting style based on his emotions and the flames always seemed different
And then when he faught azula , you see how he grew up with fire bending to become a true master and an equal to azula with calmness and precision. I like how fire bending tells the truth about whoever is wealing it.
@@risingdarkness3567 yeah I never realized that🤔, is like what uncle iroh told him that he had to learn from all the elements, I thought it weird that at the last part of the fight he did a freestyle like aang did with his feet to send fire in all directions, he was very grounded also and allowed azula to move around the most so he can pinpoint his attack, he's moving in short pattern but not static plus he was attacking with relentless force, it was like a dance of Ballance for him.
@@amirhakopian4636 How so? Because they don't want to compromise with people whose stated agenda is their extinction? Would that compromise be Schrödinger's cat, or simply more of a Thanos situation?

There’s a reason every nation in the UN besides Israel and America support Palestine.
I really like how the fire nation was the most technologically advanced nation out of all of them because in our world fire is what allows most of our technology to even function It’s why I like to think of fire more as a tool that can be used for innovation but if misuse could lead to destruction
it was because fire nation were taking the resousces of the earth kingdom and that is why the earth kingdom become the technological leading nation in LOK. similar to how britishers were taking there resources from india and the Americas and now india and america are above britain in technology and economy
@@enlightenedbaccha5855 That being said they're still much more advanced even during Sozin's era. So maybe the first machines came within the natural exchange of goods between the nations, but then Sozin decided "nah, I'd just take everything for myself".
@@clownplayer7265 also since they can litterly bend fire, it would be way easier for them to work metal, having that advantage probably made them the first to discover machinery. and in LoK the earthbenders had a bigger advantage in metalwork by the introduction of metal bending, making them the leading nation.
What always weirded me out was that the Old Fire Bending Master of Aang never seemed to have any Idea of all this, he explained Firebending as just simple, destructive Flames. In my eyes, he's the simpliest and weakest and least interesting of the White Lotus altogether. Every time someone makes a Video about how deep Firebending is, i remember that old Guy and how he apparently knows nothing about all this. Meanwhile, all other Old Men have completly understood their Elements, maybe even other Elements.
@Marcelo Biazze Piero Azulon couldn't bend blue fire. I think it's definitely a reference, but I think the in-universe explanation is her perfectionism.
@Marcelo Biazze Piero yeah for sure. They definitely had the idea for her name first then backtracked it so that her grandpa had the same name. It would have made sense if he had blue fire though, since the name is essentially based on the colour of her fire
Avatar could've definitely done with an expansion on combustion-bending and how it works. Iroh said at the start of the series that the core of good fire-bending is extending the flame past the body through the breath instead of the muscles, so combustion-bending could just simply be an advanced application of this that's innately difficult to grasp; it's effectively long-range fire-bending.
The Avatar can learn any sub-skill that falls under the category of the Original four natural Elements. And since the Avatar is a Spirit and not men, he/she can master all four Elements.
@@livingashtree1942 Yes, but this usually gets downplayed in favor of the raw power of the Avatar State, manipulating all 4 elements on such a grand scale that higher forms of bending are unnecessary.
@@livingashtree1942 yep. Primitive and old fashioned indeed as evidenced by the fact that korra was the first metalbender even tho metalbending was founded in the era of aang. I just wish that they continue the show and somehow introduce an avatar that has the mindset of progression and actually learning all the subspecs of bending or at the very least explain why the avatars did not bother learning them.
I still think that lightning and blood bending, and other special difficult techniques, should be rare and only done by masters, not the casual person. It's like, in another 50 years will everyone just be lava bending? 😫
@@tysam5867 Technically, it was easier for Bolin to lava/magma bend because he was half fire bender. Blood bending is still rare cause only Yukon and his son's (Tarlok and Omon) were shown to have it. For all we know Hana (The Puppet Master) from ATLA could have had a child after escaping the fire nation prison. We don't know the Red Lotus member's ancestry. Their water bender was extremely talented/powerful but didn't show a trace of having blood bending. Iroh invented lightning bending and it was most likely spread for the people to help calm and enlighten everyone after the 100 year war. It was probably taught in ways similar to a class of water benders due to the Tai Chi influence. Focused on being taught in redirecting before creating your own. It was a new age.
@@bilkrajackle161 Iroh didn't invent lightning bending he invented how to redirect it also the reason we don't see bloodbending too much is that Katara had it outlawed so it'd be hard for people to learn it
you forgot the coolest part of fire bending. they can redirect heat from magma into stone rock (firelord sozin do this when helping avatar roku on the volcano). imagine this thing can easily become defensive technique against lava bending
Maybe a fire bender is able to manipulate the heat of the magma as an earth bender is able to manipulate the rock mass in it. If I were a fire bender fighting another earth bender I might want to even heat up the magma so that I could get more control while making the rock mass in the magma less existent. I find it so interesting to think about these things.
I always wondered if combustion bending was connected to the light chakra in some way because the tatoo is located on the forehand. Like do firebenders need some level of insight to perform the ability.
Sometimes I feel firebending is criminally underpowered when compared to the other elements. I mean just look at how OP waterbending is I feel like there was so much more spirituality that could have been expanded on with firebending. It would have been so cool for it to develop actual healing properties on its own as well as possibly channeling spirit energy like water does. Another cool thing would be if firebending was fueled by the soul, and that could be an explanation for the individual colors shown by the dragons but it's only unlocked by true inner peace.
@@channyt8818 yeah because fire has no defined shape just like water. Many of the water bending techniques could be very powerful in fire bending. Fire is also the only plasma on Earth which gives fire benders the leg up.
Air bending is also underpowered. Water was soo powerful compared to the others and now earth bending is catching up BUT what about air and fire? I hope they give more love to fire and air if they make a new avatar series.
@@Hi-ky2wd the thing is, I think that they showed this stuff the way they did because it's the nature of the elements. Earth is strong, resilient and it's fighting stances are tough and "unbreakable", water is adaptable, versatile and that's reflected in the fighting philosophy of water benders (using your opponent's movement against himself) But air on the other hand (and air benders) are slippery and dodgy, they can attack but it doesn't damage stuff like fire or earth do. And lastly, fire (like the show portraits perfectly) spreads on its own, it easily shifts from warmth and comfort to destruction, it consumes everything around it if not controlled, something that is reflected on the Fire Nation, that only uses firebending for fireballs and destruction.
In the first volume of the Smoke and Shadow comics, when Zuko makes a big fire tornado (against the New Ozai Society), you can actually see hints of green and purple in his fire! Not sure if the artist did it for cool effect or if that was subtle way of showing that Zuko's fire is actually more colourful now? I found it very interesting though.

@@Hi-ky2wd Lavabending is earth exclusive. Firebenders can cool lava into earth and maybe even turn earth into lava, but never actually manipulate it like we see Ghazan and Bolin do.
I mean, it's a basically unlimited energy source, so it's kind of op if they were smart enough to make machines during the Avatar series. Not the lame "tanks". Actual tanks, fueled by bending but using combustion-bending for example. Imagine that..
@@DJ-hi6oc What about during "The day of Black Sun" those tanks and submarines were incredibly. And what about the Fire Hot air balloons. And the swamp benders propelling their canoes like motorboats. What about air scooters. And when we barged into the Earth king's palace where earth disc were shot at Appa. And the fireworks after we left that crazy earth kingdom General's village. How Azula can fly like freaking Ironman. Heck, Aang's glider for crying out loud.
@@bilkrajackle161 That's using the other elements for movement. But the fire element doesn't do it too much. The air baloons can easily be done without firebending but with airbending. The firebending can be used to power much bigger and more advanced tech that other elements cannot. Imagine loading a rocket with 4 firebenders, changing the trajectory until it's right on the mark, then using the fire jet thing to jump off and give the rocket even more momentum. The hot air baloons were technology, almost absent bending (except for heating the air every once in a while. Can easily be done by an airbender by moving the air constantly) While the submarine or glider were all about bending. I don't know physics very well, but I betcha you can do a hell of a lot more with being able to basically create thermal energy extremely fast, than being able to move things under certain circumstances (water, air, earth...)
i guess his mindset was if its not related to warfare than its a waste of time and if other techniques were taught it would only mean less people using it destructivly, definitely a shortsighted view of it
@@boltinabottle6307 It's not a theory oft discussed, but droves of fanfic writers are convinced of it. Bet you could find a few Tumblr posts on the subject too.
One thing is to redirect lightnings (which requires peace of mind so that you can channel the entirety of the ray's insane energy) and a whole other to generate them (which is either achieved by compressing the plasma of the fire into an extreme or by amplifying a spark). As you might have seen with Zuko and Boom Boom Sparky Man, combustion bending is the consequence of failing to generate a lightning. That difference is also the reason why Zuko was failing to understand what Iroh was teaching him.
@Asgard Thor that’s not a plot hole. They simply went to the air temples and killed all of them. With the power of the comet and the fact that the air nomads don’t fight back, it would be easy. The ones that weren’t at the the temples were lured in with traps and most likely hunted.
Firebenders can fight against blood bending . If blood benders control your body you can still breath fire and attack the blood bender. Also mako use lightning bending even in control of amon . Who is the strongest blood bender . So fire benders can defend themselves against blood bending.
Fire bending has always been my favorite despite me being well aware that water bending is OP as all hell. I have a "fan theory", or I guess maybe its more accurate to say that my head cannon for all bending in the universe is as follows: bending is just energy manipulation, matter of fact they really kind of come out and say this once or twice anyway. I think the Lion Turtle told Angg that in a time before bending elements "we would bend the energies with in our selves." (or something to that nature). Fire bending is the last true physical manifestation of bending raw energy or an external manifestation of one's chi (or kei), raw energy output. My theory for this extends to that of lightning bending, and water bending, among other abilities found and expanded upon. Keep in mind I try to look at this from more of a science fiction perspective than a pure fantasy perspective. case 1) fire and lightning are not similar elemental wise. fire needs source to burn up, it requires fuel and oxygen to burn, a catalyst in which to exist. lightnight does not, it is pure energy in about its purest form imaginable. When compared to other bending practices, fire kinda does not make sense if you omit this theory. Water can push swayed, air pushed, rock thrown.. but fire is not physical, its not really even a substance exactly its the symptom of too much energy being applied to solid, liquid, or gas. its an output. so what exactly is it that firebenders are burning? my theory is they're burning their chi (or kei), combusting their raw energy mixed with oxygen to create fire. its a bit of a stretch but not to crazy when you consider how lightning is made. lightning being a massive burst of all that energy colliding, negative energies and positive needing some place to go immediately, much like real electricity. human bodies are not good at storing electricity, the raw energy once manifested in a physical form. case 2) all benders are energy manipulators be it heat, or kinetic. Water benders are masters of both and dont even know it. the kinetic is pretty obvious but the heat might not be. Heat is just energy in motion, its what makes microwaves and friction true. Now consider how you make something cold, or to be more accurate how to remove heat. You dont so much make something "cold" as you remove its heat. A refrigerator simply removes heat from its inside thus making it cold, cold is state of being unlike heat which is, again, an energy you can transfer from one element to another. When a water bender instantly turns water to ice, or ice back into water, they're needing to immediately transfer a significant amount of heat into and out of that water. More energy bending. case 3) less thought out, but earthbending is the art of converting potential energy into kinetic energy, or probably to be more precise transferring kinetic energy from (where idk) to something that has none. why earth only, perhaps thats part of a spiritual element to the beast but the raw energy in this can seen in Legend of korra with lava bending. Again, this is direct energy transfer into the raw elements allowing them to heat up. I can see how this could and should be an absolute rare ability. I could speculate a lot more on a lot more nonsense but this is kinda the basic theory behind my head cannon regarding bending in the avatar universe. Bending is just a matter of manipulating ones chi to effect the world around you.
'not similar elemental wise' I... have to disagree with you here. fire in itself, is not an element. I imagine firebending either being based on friction of electrons. fire is a chemical reaction(chemical reactions involve the MOVING OF ELECTRONS for the most part), and also one that can be made via friction. electricity can also be made via friction, and is the purest form of 'electron movement'
I agree with your overall logic here. I'd just say, there's no need to even bring kinetic or potential energy into it. Bending is energy manipulation - and this is what unifies all the elemental bending. In this framework, earthbending would fit neatly into your theory. Fire is a little tricky as you point out. It'd be different if they were making objects combust, but instead, they are actually producing fire out of thin air. But your theory on fire benders burning their chi works for me. Based on your ideas, we can maybe start to look at which forms of bending should be more technically advanced, and to speculate why some would struggle with some types of bending versus others. From the technically hardest to easiest, this is my ranking on bending difficulty: water bending, lava bending, lightning bending, earth/metal bending, air bending, fire bending. This probably seems like an odd ranking, but here's why. 1) Water bending ranks high due to water/ice conversion, and vice-versa. Often done on the fly and very quickly, this is some very technical manipulation of energy 2) Lava bending is technically a little easier than water/ice conversions mentioned above. The trick with lava would be the sheer amount of energies involved. 3) Lightning bending with its manipulation of charge is more advanced than fire bending, but easier than water or lava 4) Earth/metal bending is more crude and macro, but operates on the same basic principles as water bending. 5) Air bending seems kinda basic to me - basically moving air around. Less technical than water bending and less energy-consuming than earthbending. 6) Fire bending is the most basic - throwing out your own chi and burning it. Maybe its why it was the earliest form of bending (I think).
Good theory but I don't think any science truly goes into bending, it is fun to speculate though. I'm not sure if the creator of Avatar thought all of this through, if I were to create a show such as this I wouldn't bother much with actual scientific logic, I'd just make up my own logic lol.
Water benders might just control the molecules in water. Lock them in place and you get ice, make them move faster and it gets hot, make them move really fast and you get water vapor.
@@whyisgamora4191 Yup, agree. Moving those molecules would come down to energy manipulation. My only point is that the amount of skill to do that is higher than just moving bunches of earth or air around.
It was always going to be a risque move for them to do Avatar in the '20s but that scene with the many lightning benders producing energy sums up how the things established before were misused (lightning for me was always special for the royality even the avatar didn't use it even in the avatar state) there were a few high notes with Amon and Zaheer showing interesting conflicts but where always hindered by the setting the technology in Avatar just like irl hinders the spiritual side of the world. Should we use an air bison, no we take the car. Should we use fire bending for light, no just use a lamp. I don't want to hate on Korra but if we should ever get completely new content from the avatar world it should be set in the thousands of years before Aang were there was even more wonderous things roaming about like ATLA and Korra hinted at/pointed out going further into the future it would become to normal for us. The only difference then being some rock and fire flipping instead of guns because that is exciting.
Something else to keep in mind, Fire along with water is the style with the most attributes that either show mastery of its form, or the freedom to mix its form with others to develop new techniques. While fire may represent destruction, it also symbolizes rebirth and progress. Combine fire bending with water style motions and teachings, bam you get lighting bending and redirection, fuse its hot, strong, and almost free form (especially if you use the dancing dragon style), with a earth bender and boom, lava bending. Fuse it with the true freedom and yet strict discipline of the air style and literally kablooey, Combustion bending. And spiritually, it seems to come second only to air bending as it can sense energies and separate said energies for its lightning bending. Taking that into account, its no surprise the fire nation proved so overwhelming in the war when its such a small nation in comparison to most. Its versatile nature is second to none and should not be underestimated...ever.
*Overall Firebending pros outside combat* - Lightning bending is the coolest thing ever -you can controll fire (the second coolest thing ever) - with the right gimmick you can save money on utility bills - potential flight - cool tricks at parties
Fire is literally such a beautiful element. I could go on and on about why it is not the most dangerous element. Gosh it's just beautiful and so misused.
@@user-go7hd8jq6f Yeah avatar is a great show. SU had its good points but saying its even as good as avatar is kinda a tall order. I mean i wouldn't even say SU was as good as Korra overall. Both had serious issues behind the scenes but SU was so much more of a mess overall.
i think fire bending is more like form of energy bending. The energy creates friction and then fire. that would make the whole combustion and lightning bending a lot more reasonable. that was always my take on that
Bending lightning is comparable to being able to write. Once, only the royal family and some shogun and daimyo got the the training. But then the information was democratized to everyone around the world.
I really like the thought and I think the electricity would make a lot of sense if its friction and energy being formed from it the complete and total rage is combustion \ fire but a fire bender who has centered themselves can calm themselves so its just friction and static instead of friction and fire. Really cool thought!
fire is simply ionized gas or plasma. Firebenders can probably telekinetically effect electric charges. My head cannon is that fire bending works by ionizing the ambient atmosphere to generate plasma. Lightning bending is simply taking this ability to the next level by stopping ion/ electron collisions long enough to build up sufficient charge and then guiding it along a path of weakly ionized air.
Yea they're energy benders it makes more sense and on a physics scale is way more broken than anything else, an example of this is book 3 where it shows the history of roku and Sozin, Sozin is seen venting heat away from a volcano too cool it.
It's kinda sad that firebending wasn't really explored that much. If it was expanded upon using science (like waterbending), we could see some badass techniques from shooting plasma or changing the temperature all the way to friggin lasers... LASERS GUYS science can do it with manipulating energy. Since fire is explained as being energy and life, it could ultimately bend a persons life-force can you imagine how cool that would be? btw I'm really confused on why can waterbending just instantly change the substance to ice since it shouldn't be that easy scientifically
What if the multiple colors of fire represent the chakras and how balanced or prominent they are in the bender of the flames. Like the dragons have all color cause they are completely balanced
@@orekihoutarou6107 no it just means she might be more heavily in tune with a specific chakra. in chakra blue represents the throat, which itself represents self expression, communication and perfect form. something azula is known for. orange is the colour of the centre and represents emotions, something firebenders utilize heavily in their bending.
@@whitemoonwolf13 Honestly, this makes a ton of sense. It actually comes up again in the Smoke and Shadows comic. Some of Zuko's flame has hints of other chakras in it, showing green and purple. Green represents the heart, being the symbol of "essential nature", one's true self. Purple represents the top of the non-physical spinal column. It is the symbol of duality.
whitemoonwolf13 No, it’s the green heart chakra that’s associated more with traditional emotional things. The orange sacral chakra is associated more with sexuality, adventurousness and creativity. Fire might also be destruction, but it’s also creation.
if you over think bending it has a lot of potential ways to abuse it. for example. can metal benders bend earth metals like calcium? can they potentially bend bone. water benders can bend the water dissolved in the air, can air benders bend the air dissolved in water? not that an air bender ever would but could they bend the oxygen in the blood or atleast bend the air in the lungs. every cell in the body has combustion to produce energy. can a fire bender bend cellular combustion? if fire and lightning is basically plasma bending and plasma is just really hot air, water benders can change the temp of water earth benders can change the temp of earth can air benders change the temp of air and bend plasma? is there much of a difference between fire and air bending then?
An airbender has been shown to be able to bend the air out of people's lungs, the leader of the Red Lotus used it to kill the Earth Queen in Legend of Korra.
in kora they said you can only bend impure metals with traces of earth. so no calcium in bones shouldn't be bendable for that reason and that calcium in bones is not "a metal", it's an ion therefore it behaves differently. however earth itself is made out of different inorganic compounds and salts(and they are made out of ions) so idk, maybe? i dont think i could stand watching someones bones twisting and cracking upon influence of others. "water dissolved in air"- water doesn't dissolve in air, it can either be suspended as fog, clouds or vapour -- to this i say they should be able to. "air dissolved in water" - i would think so, but that should just extract air to breath or have bubbles, not control the water around the dissolved air molecules.
I wonder if a bender skilled enough in lightning bending could’ve produced various electrical phenomena such as ball lightning, different colored lightning, or maybe even a thunder clap.
I kinda hope they expanded with the life-giving aspect of fire. Like just imagine a true firebending master being able to revive someone from the brink of death, like reigniting a flame. Water can heal but fire can ignite. Or maybe used lighting bending as a defibrillator.
The legend of korra's mass production of advanced techniques was one of the biggest mistakes of the series. Martial arts, and any self discipline, grow less common in an advancing society. Reliance on technology and the increasing demand for labor limits free time to devote to one's self, offers options that you can buy instead of train for, and culture just moves forward. It makes no sense that something as rare as metal or lightning bending would become common place. It does make sense that there would be new metal benders considering it was a newly invented technique, but not every pig should be able to master it willy-nilly. Some inventor learning to produce electricity based on the study of lightning bending? Sure. Some lightning benders who achieved the result in a way that's cohesive with the new culture, great. Every firebender under the sun learning lightningbending? No.
I don’t think it’s a bad thing tbh. There aren’t really that many “masters” of metal bending just the main characters really. I think about it like how sport evolve over time like it didn’t get easier for people to play basketball when you do like 60svsNow it’s just that’s there much more knowledge now and it’s much more available
@@FizzySummer776 yeah, people forgot that Aang brought forth a period of peace by ending the 100 year war. With peace and better relations between the nations, there will be an easier transfer of technology and ideas. Take, for example, how the relative peace of Pax Romana helped trade between India/China and Rome as well as the spread of Christianity. Or the Pax Mongolica in the 13th-14th century helped revitalizes the Silk Road, allowing Marco Polo to go to China and wrote that book that helped spur Western colonisation. Or how the relative pease of the post-WW2 world led to McDonald's opening everywhere?
Seeing the light bending pretty common in legend of korra make me sad i loved when it was rare only by the royal family. I always loved fire since i was kid fire bending is always my favorite light bending is fkn badass like the blood bending.
The way I view it, lightning bending was only rare because the technique was closely guarded by the royal family. In TLA we only ever see nobility lightning bend. The fact that lightning bending became widespread is a testament to Zuko's character as a ruler, he chose to give it to the people instead of keeping it to himself.
@@jingyasun6292 Mai said in the comics (which are canon) that the lightningbending is rare but not that rare, suggesting that the Royal family are not the only ones who can generate lightning. The requrements for it are pretty hard. You need to achieve complete peace of mind and calmness, separate negative and positive energy. Ik that in LOK you have modern technologies like radio, people are able to acces more information and it seems like a natural progression just like with metal bending. However, I don't see it possible to have so many lightning benders considering how hard is to achieve it (btw, Mako is anything but not a collected person w inner peace)
@Pantsu Misete I mean, I wouldn't exactly call Azula the epitome of calm and peace of mind yet she somehow managed to produce an extremely powerful lightning during her madness-induced state that knocked Zuko out even though he redirected it successfully. Ozai doesn't exactly fit that criteria either to the fullest extent. So I wouldn't exactly find it hard to believe that Mako would have to qualities to perform lightningbending since he's not particularly hotheaded for a firebender.
I've been telling my friends and fellow fans for years; while firebending isn't underrepresented, it is underused and underrated. If the raw power of it were to be combined with a really creative mind of a bender, I'm certain they'd be a force to be reckoned with among everyone in the verse
Well to be fair all four elements can and are a force to be reckoned with when used by a creative and smart bender. Also when they are under the right environmental conditions such as sozins comet for firebending or the full moon for waterbending. Now that I think about it what affect would a super moon have on waterbending.
One of the big limitations on any kind of bending as shown in the series is the fact that it was a children’s cartoon shown on a children’s network. There was only so much they could show. They couldn’t show firebenders actually burning people to death, waterbenders ripping the water that makes up over 70% of the human body out of their bodies like what the bloodbender woman did to plants, an earthbender crushing an opponent into a bloody pulp, or an airbender removing all of the air around someone so that they’re in a true vacuum and die the same way one would if suddenly finding themselves in outer space without a spacesuit (no, you don’t suffocate - you don’t live long enough to suffocate - you don’t explode either, but you do die very horribly). If other benders could create their element like firebenders apparently do, imagine what they could do! Imagine an airbender torturing someone by creating kidney stones inside them (one of the worst pains imaginable - women who have had both large kidney stones and difficult childbirth have said that they’re either on par with each other, or the kidney stones were worse). An airbender could inflict “the bends” on anyone within range by creating air bubbles inside their bloodstream and/or other tissues, and so on.
If it wasn’t a kids show, people would be electrocuted, carbonized, crushed, decapitated, suffocated and so on... Any of the masters could kill soooo easily and I am kinda willing to see this violence in the new Netflix show Am I the only psycho of this fandom?
Marco Antunes in fairness their original plan for Jet in Ba Sing Se was to have Longshot mercy kill him instead of aiming the bow at the doorway ahead of him. Thats pretty metal
I mean it's a kid show and if they respect that in the live action then it makes total sense. HOWEVER, as an adult who watched avatar being a kid and still enjoys it but loves to see violence, blood and fighting in fantasy/historical tv shows like game of thrones, vikings, etc; would I enjoy and love to see all that stuff in the live action show???? Absofuckyinglutely yes
There's also the fact that in Legend of Korra, an old woman could heal and detect blocked chi in Korra using fire, so it could mean that fire has more uses other than destruction, as it is pure enery, it could be used to heal the same way as water
I'm so happy this video has been made! Thank you so much!!🔥😍 As a zodiacal fire person, I've always felt that fire nation, just like Zuko at first, was really very badly hated and at some point even underestimated. The only image many people had was war, and all the people of the nation were seen as a potential thread. To me this was very sad. That's why I'm really glad you were able to unleash and enlighten all the aspects of this beautiful and powerful nation that previously have been covered by hatred. Some points were really eye opening even for me.) Thank you once again! Keep up the good work! 🔥❤️
Gamertech Yes, this is actually true. Blue fire is much much much more hot than red fire. That’s why stars in space are often ranked by their heat levels by their color. Ironically, what we call “colder colors” are actually a lot hotter as heat than “warmer colors.”
About colors of fire, Zuko managed to create a fire of multiple colors in the Smoke and Shadow Part 1 comic (page 61/62 I believe), when he protected Ursa, Ikem and Kiyi from New Ozai Society by redirecting and spinning the fire around cart on which he was standing. The fire looked pretty much same as in the episode when Dragons showed the vision to Aang and Zuko.
On the whole extra movement things I think we see three “sequences” during the series, the one that azula does when we first see and iroh does when he’s explaining, circular movements to the inside of the centerline one hand at a time which feels like the traditional way. Fire lord ozai which does the same movement but with both hands at the same time. And azula during her final fight who does these more complete circle one at a time moving from the inside out. That last one felt special, the movement might have been just to accentuate her madness, it just looks more “twisted”, but I remember as a kid thinking “oh that’s gonna be some bad lightning”.
To understand and master the true essence of bending, most of the main cast had to learn from the original benders. The airbenders well illustrated this fact by adopting sky bisons and living with them. Maybe the same would work for other benders.
Well we know Toph was taught by the badgers and Zuko & Aang are taught by the dragons; hard to say if Katara actually learned something from the moon or if the moon just strenthen hers just like it does for other water benders
Honestly, I would love to see more development in the fire nation, but I feel like the first series just wore it down a bit. They didn't expand on firebending before it became "old," I guess. Since the first series, Avatar the Last Airbender, was based primarily on the Fire nation it makes sense that they wouldn't want to "repeat history." I do hope that they go deeper though, as it's not only firebending that we don't entirely understand. Really, in my opinion the only element that we really understand to the core is water. The others are pretty well developed, but in the end there are a lot of unanswered questions. Until we get them, well Thats Rough Buddy
One of the things I liked about Korra was how well they went into water bending, unfortunately though they didn't dive too deep into the others as I personally would like to know if air bending has something special besides flying and the more spiritual of earth & fire bending
@@Merilirem Well the next Avatar would be an Earth bender, which is the weakest form of bending IMO, unless you're a prodigy, I'd prefer any other element, so... I dunno, could use a buff in the new water bending meta I think.
What I'm very curious about is the firebender's ability to heat up their own body. When Zuko was infiltrating the north water tribe, he melted through the ice by heating up his hands. Is that something an average joe firebender can do? Also, When Iroh got kidnapped by the earth kingdom soldiers, he burned a soldier's hand by heating up his own cuffs. So are firebenders very resistant to heat? But Zuko got his scar from a burn.
Well Zuko didn't make any attemp to not get burned but I think they are not resistent, is the control, they can control heat itself not only fire, when they are doing it they are in control of how much heat they produce and redirect it so they dont burn themselves, but its harder to control outside sources of heat just as someone can limit the force of a punch as much as they want but when someone else hits you its not the same, with enough control firebenders could be in theory impervious to any heat related damage, but much as real life martial arts and redirecting blows there should be a limit in what they can do without knowing exactly how much heat is involved or before its too much to their skill to handle or other factors
Jeong Jeong tried to teach Aang to control his application of fire by burning a small hole in a leaf with small increases in heat. Therefore the likes of Zuko can effectively control the movement of radiiating heat as not to actually touch their bodies. Sozin had a unique technique where he drew heat out of a volcano and out via the other end of his body-without getting harmed.
honestly it doesn't make any sense at the fire temple for sozin when and when it is Avatar State he use firebending to burn the chain guitar and her brother and the chains literally turned to Ash the guitar wasn't burned at all and I feel it's the same thing with her the bad thing when they throw giant rocks at each other no one ever breaks their bones so I wonder if they're like resistant to blunt-force it doesn't really make sense but I guess cuz it's a fantasy show they don't really think about these things
I’d be a Waterbender, and if I could I’d try and seek out Bloodbending CAUSE ITS LITERALLY THE COOLEST FKING THING IN THE SHOW. Who needs cool fancy Lightning when you have BlOodBENdiNG
@@planet0froses452 well... other than the fact bloodbending is illegal and youd most likely be imprisoned/executed for it... its basically the necromancy of ATLA.. a forbidden practice.
@@sif_2799 As much as I don't like LoK, it didn't ignore or conflict with anything. The lion turtles gave humans the ability to bend, but the dragons, flying bisons, badger moles and the moon were the actual teachers of bending. Instead of blindly throwing the elements, the humans developed bending from these four sources. LoK may have made it a bit more complicated, but it still makes sense.
You forgot Heat Bending, in which a bender can add or take away heat from something. Great for lavabending defense, and also can take the heat right out of someone and kill them.
But I think that’s the point of Avatar OG. Sozin corrupted the use of fire bending made it into a thing of death so it was hatred. The beauty of it was lost. When you see Zuko becoming proficient and training and going up against his sis in the final agna Kai it’s where you start to see the beauty return to it. If you think about it it is not just fire. The bending lost its art because survival and war were more important. A lot of the old way got killed off/stored because it didn’t help with survival or was unwarranted.
Iroh Literally explained it in the show. People of water tribe are adaptive People of fire nation have burning will People of earth are strong People of air are free and wise
Unpopular opinion: I think lightning bending is cooler than blood bending.(unless were talking about the Korra version, that version seemed to be nerfed a little.
@@baldwinivofjerusalem47 Yes and no if the show was based on real science and we didn't allow any more things than already established lightning bending would be probably the deadliest bending with the least limitations since lightning in real life can kill almost instantly. But it's not based on real life and people are able to take far more damage than they ever could in real life and things that would normally instantly kill even the toughest humans in real life are brushed off like nothing in the show.
@@austinblackburn8095 Not only that. Discharging lightning alters magnetic fields, so it can be used to control metal. Just watch A certain scientific railgun to see how powerful lightning powers actually are. If people knew this they would understand Fire Bending is op bc of lightning
Imo Firebending is like the manifestation of energy in the form of heat or electric energy while the other elements utilize energy to manipulate an element
Firebending hands down has the least amount of sub-bending pathways which sucks because fire bending is a more aggressive and flashy style of bending hopefully they can expand on it in the future.
When zuko went from fighting general Zhao just slashing wildly and getting tired. to have a peacefull way of firebending when facing azula u see how powerful he becomes
Honestly yeah that would've been great and good looking but if you think of it by comparing Zuko's with Azula's fire, mhm I don't know, for sure good looking but I think of the Avatar State as something different, transcended, there I the possibility that one or more of the avatars had possessed the blue flame firebending. I kinda had in mind something like that I mean in ATLA there are 4 avatars covered, would've been nicer if it was expanded, but the series turned out great as it is, as for Korra, sure we see more of the avatars and stuff. Everytime I see avatar state I get hyped, as the knowledge and skill is used in the avatar state I'd be thrilled to see more of the avatar state thingy and more of the past avatars in the future
I feel as though the avatar state is a state of peace in both mind and spirit. Blue flame is assumed to be just an intense and more lethal version of fire bending, so I feel as though the avatars mastery of the elements in the avatar state is just bending at its most basic form. If the avatar state was truly the knowledge of all the past lives, I would assume that things such as lightning, lava bending, blood bending, and metal bending, would have been something the avatar would have done thousands of years ago. I mean think about it, the avatar state is described as something as extraordinarily powerful, these simple forms of bending that many have mastered despite not being masters of the Element themselves. I’m sure with the knowledge of thousands of past lives, these bending techniques would be child’s play. But the concept is based on the spirit of Rava and how the avatar was originally gifted the power to wield 4 elements. Rava carried the elements gifted to Juan by the lion turtles, and given in their most primal forms. Because Rava is now fused with the avatar, the avatar state is just tapping in to the spiritual energy of Rava and expressing the 4 elements she carries. Just my opinion tho
@@zeno7836 would be nice if they show how truly powerful an avatar state can be, like literally terraforming the planet or something devastating, I never thought of avatar state as '' master of the 4 elements '', I'd rather see something beyond bending of basic elements, like as I said terraforming or something devastating depends on the avatar, I'm sure there's a possibility at least one avatar was corruped by evil and was fiercless in showing he can do what ever he wants, but well as Raava is within the avatar I assume that the light spirit wouldnt let the avatar do evil things, but in ATLA at least there's no presence of Raava so it brings food for thought that something greater like pure evil or pure goodness can happen, tbh I'd much more like to see greater things than just fighting within the avatar state
Azula mastered firebending to the point where her fire changed color to match her personality- most firebenders never reach this level of mastery as they treat fire as a tool and extension. Azula is the sole Firebender whose fire literally comes from inside her willpower, which makes her insanely dangerous.
I see combustion bending as an earthbending style technique. It's about seeing your objective and powering through. I'd like to think it gives a greater sense of "clarity" (since it uses the third eye)
The ART of Zuko: The Firelord Seeking revenge and redemption from destruction (RAGE) Seeking comfort and care from frustration (WARMTH) Seeking answers and direction from confusion (Light) Seeking to help and love from devotion (Life) From rage to warmth to light to life, Zuko went and danced through the meaning of fire, itself. He may not be the most skilled fire bender but he sure did understand the essence of his power and the source of its energy.
Fire is generally misunderstood in many forms of media. Fire more than water is essential for life. The core of fire is heat...and the sun's heat is the force behind everything. Heat is energy that influences things like the winds, storms, the water cycle, photosynthesis and needed by most life forms to survive. Fire is also the element in mythology most associated with the spirit compared to wind in this show. Fire is also associated with purification and rejuvenation. Forests are rejuvenated after being destroyed by natural fire...some trees only being able to grow this way. Water is still my favorite bending element but I generally don't like when fire is just shown as destructive.
Nope... Without water, life is impossible. Fact. Heat is essential too but then you can say earth is essential for life as well as air. Water is the thing that actually gives life.
@@thomasgraham8035 as far as science goes scientist regard the sun's light and heat being the most essential things for life, water comes when we reach the planetary level...because if Earth was any closer or farther from the sun, there would be no water and no life as far as we know. All living things use the energy the sun provides may it be directly like plants or indirectly animals that eat plants. This is basic food chain stuff. So at the very least both heat and water are equal. Still, humans are limited, we define life as we know it- there can be things out there that need neither. Fire/lightning is also the most divine of the elements in almost all religions since fire is ethereal in nature.
@@Ephideltrance I never said fire and water were not equal. Simply that all life is made from water, which is not to make it any superior from other ways. And no fire is not the most essential. You need atmosphere water and earth all are equally essential for life. I do not care if its the most divine element in religions. Why is that relevant?
fire is always about purification to me. it cooks our raw food, cleans the impurities out of metal, and also has a habit of burning off bad guy's faces. purification
Bisch, combustion bending is easily the most underrated one and combustion benders are always underrated as hell. Also, P'Li looked amazing and deserved better.
6:07 the way amon takes away zolt's bending and making it regress from lightning to fire to nothing, feels like amon didnt just take away his bending, but also took way his knowledge and skill. I always felt that made amons powers even scarier
I feel it would have been more satisfying if after learning firebending the right way, Zuko would have blue flame, master lightning, AND have combustion bending. In a way suceesing Iroh.
@@kingraplhmativo5178 In LOK its an earth bending perk. In the chibi series of ATLA zuko does lava bend. All lava benders with known parents (bolin and sun) have one firebender parent.
For me, my favorite kind of bending is earth bending, especially with Toph. She was able to listen to the land, and have the ground beneath her be her eyes, she single handily created metal bending, making her a juggernaut in her time of the 100 year war, and I would have loved to see if she could lava bend. If she was able to learn that, she would be the greatest earth bender ever in history
Thought you should know that the way you end your videos with an "I love you" followed by that outro music actually brings tears to my eyes every single time
I think the creators may have hinted at the details of combustion bending on the sly, I believe Zuko may have had the ability to produce explosions but not the control (or tattoos) to project it away from his body. Hear me out, while training with Iroh for lightning it seems with every attempt it blows up right in his face and its known that when combustion man was discovering his abilities he lost his arm and leg to an explosion. Perhaps he was simply trying to lightning bend and produced a massive explosion and blew himself up. Another terrifying thought is that if inner turmoil is the cause of an explosion rather than lightning, then during the last agni kai when Azula was on the verge of a mental collapse her final strike against Katara could have been an explosion killing the both of them.
Oh my if azula did combustion in that scene it would've been epic but really sad because they both might've died. Honestly I would've like if it turned out like thag
@@tysam5867 Dont forget the fact that it would have been boosted by Sozin's Comet. I imagine had she exploded from when she lightning bent and hit Zuko that would have been a devastating blow to Zuko's psyc having egged Azula on into blowing herself up. "What? Lightning today afraid I'll redirect it?" "OH, I'LL SHOW YOU LIGHTNING!" *KABOOM*
100% sure if this wasn't a kids show, azula would've blown herself up in the final agni kai. but that's way too brutal for a PG show, so it didn't happen.
Not to mention the fact that the entirety of the episode when Zuko and Aang had to relearn fire-bending of the old ways. Passion from the heart, the only other person who knew was Iroh.
For those confused at how there are so many lightning benders in Lok: The art book for LoK says that the technique of Lightning bending wasn't rare because nobody could do it: It was rare because only the royal family and a few select officers were shared it's secrets. Sozin wanted to be sure that only the most powerful would rule and Lightning bending gave them a serious edge over other benders. Once Zuko took over, he shared the secrets freely.
If it wasn’t a kids show....
They’d be a LOT of burnt corpses.
Don't forget Monk Gyatso's skeleton and the >dozen firebender corpses surrounding him. Not burnt corpses, but still pretty dark considering the show's target age.
Dont forget crushed bodies from rocks
Well people can counter fire with their bending and firebenders can prevent burning if they expect some fire coming
If you think about it, Avatar would've been a really gory show, because:
Waterblades flying at extremely high speed;
Just regular rocks flying at extremely high speed;
Fire. Just fire.
Bloodbending is a thing that...exists.
Metal flying around at extremely high speed;
Just regular weapons;
Also bombs because that's also a thing that exists, etc.
Blast Blast crackel crackel ping!!
Woah man...
+I would like to add
In Ba Sing Se, Uncle Iroh and Zuko were called to Royal palace but when they found out that it was Azula they ran. Uncle Iroh blasted the wall through lightning but Zuko refused to go with him. Then when Azula's men attacked him, he used a firewall for defense. A technique mostly used by the waterbenders. 😊😄😊
@@madarauchiha8508 We could also add ming hua who basically used her waterbending to move around like an airbender, so fast, agile, and airborne.
Wow, that's so cool. I hadn't noticed that when I watched the fight but it makes sense.
There was also Jeong, the first Firebending teacher of Aang's. He created giant walls of fire that were very similar to tidal waves, and he even admitted himself that he wishes he was a Waterbender. So, he certainly wields his Firebending in a very Waterbender-like style.
Back when he was captured by Earth Kingdom guard, Iroh utilized his breathing to flames as Aang often did to stop himself from falling

Damn, didn't even notice after watching the series 2 times already😂
They reflect Ozai and Iroh. Ozai is the epitome of the power of Firebending while Iroh is the perfect example of someone embracing the *ART* of Firebending.
I mean bro was amped by the comet.
They also reflect their great grandfather as well
i alaways figured that to make blue flames one had to be extremly skilled in controlling the ratio of fire to air in their bending, wich might even be a genetic trait or only comes with extreme practice. and azula being a prodige and very focussed on being the best firebender, remember that most of the time we dont see her on screen shes probably training, and also having the genes off two extremely powerfull and great firebenders off the past, resulted in her eventually gaining that much controll of her fire that it burns perfectly almost all of the time. and we know she is skilled since lightningbending normally requires inner peace and a good state off mind, yet she was still able to do so when she was completly off the rails and extremely confused. wich in turn proves that for her its either that shes so skilled at bending that she can neglect the requirements or that when shes bending shes solely foccused on bending, clearing her mind of most everything else, wich would make more sense.
I didnt like how LoK made lightning bending more common, I wish it was more seen as skilled and rare like how Iroh explains it
In my opinion, lightning bending was only rare because the technique was closely guarded by the royal family.
The lightning bending seemed much weaker in Korra anyways. Not nearly as deadly.
@Graphic Nerdity Lightening is lightening lmao
@Graphic Nerdity Wait wait. Positive and negative lightning? I don't remember Iroh saying anything about that when he explained it to Zuko.
Plus Dante basco

Maybe a fire bender is able to manipulate the heat of the magma as an earth bender is able to manipulate the rock mass in it. If I were a fire bender fighting another earth bender I might want to even heat up the magma so that I could get more control while making the rock mass in the magma less existent.

Agreed! Fire can be just as versatile as the water! Same goes for earth and air!
Earth is strong, resilient and it's fighting stances are tough and "unbreakable", water is adaptable, versatile and that's reflected in the fighting philosophy of water benders (using your opponent's movement against himself)
But air on the other hand (and air benders) are slippery and dodgy, they can attack but it doesn't damage stuff like fire or earth do.
And lastly, fire (like the show portraits perfectly) spreads on its own, it easily shifts from warmth and comfort to destruction, it consumes everything around it if not controlled, something that is reflected on the Fire Nation, that only uses firebending for fireballs and destruction.

5:25 don't come at me with that. Azula can generate lightning and she was DEFINITELY not at inner peace during her Agni Kai with Zuko and Katara
but at the same time it was during sozins comet wich basicly gives fire benders a gaint boost

Fire is my favorite, despite everyone shifting to water upon the introduction of blood bending, I still favor fire

@@ishamael61 combustion bending can easily kill a blood bender
Fire bending has always been my favorite despite me being well aware that water bending is OP as all hell.
I have a "fan theory", or I guess maybe its more accurate to say that my head cannon for all bending in the universe is as follows:
bending is just energy manipulation, matter of fact they really kind of come out and say this once or twice anyway.
'not similar elemental wise'
I... have to disagree with you here. fire in itself, is not an element.
Often done on the fly and very quickly, this is some very technical manipulation of energy
2) Lava bending is technically a little easier than water/ice conversions mentioned above. The trick with lava would be the sheer amount of energies involved.
3) Lightning bending with its manipulation of charge is more advanced than fire bending, but easier than water or lava
4) Earth/metal bending is more crude and macro, but operates on the same basic principles as water bending.

Its versatile nature is second to none and should not be underestimated...ever.

i think fire bending is more like form of energy bending.
How about light bending? Or electromagnetic waves bending? Or LASER bending? Or Nuke bending? Or radiation bending?
fire is simply ionized gas or plasma.
@Gabriella Maroney except that ice is less dense than water.
If the particle stop the water become ice because the movement of particle cause heat but if it stop there is no heat hense it's cold
The show doesn't really focus on the scientific part of bending, but more the spiritual part.
Agreed 1000%
Moving water with martial arts is impossible scientifically, i don't see your point
What if the multiple colors of fire represent the chakras and how balanced or prominent they are in the bender of the flames. Like the dragons have all color cause they are completely balanced
That's what I was thinking!
This implies that Azula is more spiritually balanced than many firebenders.
I know they have shown taking water from vapours before.
The avatar might be able to do those. An average air bender aren't strong enough to compress air to create plasma/lightning.
Gytis what of iron in the blood do you know if that's in ion form
No.
I agree.
Yes, and maybe rediscovering some old fire bending techniques, a lot was lost after all.
Or how the relative pease of the post-WW2 world led to McDonald's opening everywhere?
yikes
@@creedjeremyYeah Mako is way calmer then Azula if she could lighting bend even after she lost her mind I don't see why Mako couldn't of done it
Bro I don’t think Zuko wanted to keep secrets. He wanted to spread knowledge like Iroh did.

@@lucianapontoriero4070 Absofuckinglutely LOL 😂

There's also the fact that in Legend of Korra, an old woman could heal and detect blocked chi in Korra using fire, so it could mean that fire has more uses other than destruction, as it is pure enery, it could be used to heal the same way as water
I'm so happy this video has been made! Thank you so much!!🔥😍
As a zodiacal fire person, I've always felt that fire nation, just like Zuko at first, was really very badly hated and at some point even underestimated. The only image many people had was war, and all the people of the nation were seen as a potential thread. To me this was very sad. That's why I'm really glad you were able to unleash and enlighten all the aspects of this beautiful and powerful nation that previously have been covered by hatred. Some points were really eye opening even for me.)
Thank you once again! Keep up the good work! 🔥❤️
this video is basically why Anng learned to bend fire.
"Fire is life" Also that whole episode with zuko and anng with the dragons!!
Fun fact blue fire is probably 10x hotter that norm fire
Blue fire is pretty much fire burning without oxygen, such as the burning of propane.
Casu Kin probably?
@SleepyWolf it's a fact that the closer to white fire is, the hotter, I don't know about x10. To test that requires too much for just anyone to test
Gamertech Yes, this is actually true. Blue fire is much much much more hot than red fire. That’s why stars in space are often ranked by their heat levels by their color. Ironically, what we call “colder colors” are actually a lot hotter as heat than “warmer colors.”
Fay Amane all fire burns in the presence of oxygen. Blue fire just indicates complete combustion
I think so.
Air benders - sky bison
Water benders - the moon
Fire benders - dragons
Earth benders - those mole creatures
Well we know Toph was taught by the badgers and Zuko & Aang are taught by the dragons; hard to say if Katara actually learned something from the moon or if the moon just strenthen hers just like it does for other water benders
@@CAMnami She was already pretty good at it but most of her instruction came from Pakku, but I suppose he might have learned that way.

Until we get them, well
Thats Rough Buddy
Louella Lazuli Maybe the comics can continue
One of the things I liked about Korra was how well they went into water bending, unfortunately though they didn't dive too deep into the others as I personally would like to know if air bending has something special besides flying and the more spiritual of earth & fire bending
@@CAMnami They should just keep the cycle going and get us some firebending lore and rebuilding.
@@Merilirem Well the next Avatar would be an Earth bender, which is the weakest form of bending IMO, unless you're a prodigy, I'd prefer any other element, so... I dunno, could use a buff in the new water bending meta I think.
@@Mr.Monacle "a buff in the new water bending meta" that was hilariously beautiful
Perhaps they are resistant to their own fire because it's a piece of themselves, but others' fire still burns them?
That is probably a semi lost art due that only someone as wise as iroh can actually rediscover
Lighting bending was the coolest until lava bending came in the picture lol.

Who needs cool fancy Lightning when you have BlOodBENdiNG
@@planet0froses452 well... other than the fact bloodbending is illegal and youd most likely be imprisoned/executed for it... its basically the necromancy of ATLA.. a forbidden practice.
"humans were taught fire bending by... Dragons"
Dragon Turtles: Am I a joke to you?
Yes, because "Dragon Turtles" aren't a thing. It was the Lion Turtles who originally gifted humanity with the ability to bend the elements
The lion turtles gifted the ability to bend fire to humans, but the dragons taught the art of firebending
this just proves LoK is trash because it completely enters in conflict with the origins told in the last airbender
Rather the other way around. Tlok kinda ignored atla's lore...
I’m the Search Comics Zuko actually used that colorful pillar of fire to protect his mom and little sister

Love the avatar videos dude! Keep the good work up!
You forgot Heat Bending, in which a bender can add or take away heat from something. Great for lavabending defense, and also can take the heat right out of someone and kill them.
Yeah heat transfer could be the blood bending counter. Imagine fire benders starting to shock frost people
Thats basically how air conditioning works.
Imagine a white flame that could spread on everything and explode, similar to combustion.
One thing I hoped would happen with Zuko (esp in Korra) was for him to have a fire color of his own.
In the comics Zuko can use the dragon multicolor flame, but just for intimidation.

@@baldwinivofjerusalem47 ikr
@@baldwinivofjerusalem47 Yes and no if the show was based on real science and we didn't allow any more things than already established lightning bending would be probably the deadliest bending with the least limitations since lightning in real life can kill almost instantly. But it's not based on real life and people are able to take far more damage than they ever could in real life and things that would normally instantly kill even the toughest humans in real life are brushed off like nothing in the show.

Love this show and this channel great idea slice can’t wait to see the earth bending analysis 😊
What a well written video! I enjoyed your point about the Fire Nation's history being affected by Sozin's vanity.
As usual, Slice has a point. The kids in the Fire Nation didn't even know about DANCING.
When zuko went from fighting general Zhao just slashing wildly and getting tired. to have a peacefull way of firebending when facing azula u see how powerful he becomes
I wish when korra and aang went into the avatar state there flames would turn blue.
Or pure white
The ART of Zuko: The Firelord
Seeking revenge and redemption from destruction (RAGE)
Seeking comfort and care from frustration (WARMTH)
Seeking answers and direction from confusion (Light)
Seeking to help and love from devotion (Life)
From rage to warmth to light to life, Zuko went and danced through the meaning of fire, itself. He may not be the most skilled fire bender but he sure did understand the essence of his power and the source of its energy.
Fire isn't death. It is rebirth, shown in many cases and animals .

The earth moving around the sun:
I like air bending but I personally think fire bending is such a understatement bending and I wish more people could like it
Fire is generally misunderstood in many forms of media.
I feel quite similarly to you on this topic.
I feel it would have been more satisfying if after learning firebending the right way,
Zuko would have blue flame, master lightning, AND have combustion bending.
In a way suceesing Iroh.
@Asgard Thor Wait, firebenders can bend lava?
@@kingraplhmativo5178 In LOK its an earth bending perk. In the chibi series of ATLA zuko does lava bend. All lava benders with known parents (bolin and sun) have one firebender parent.
For me, my favorite kind of bending is earth bending, especially with Toph. She was able to listen to the land, and have the ground beneath her be her eyes, she single handily created metal bending, making her a juggernaut in her time of the 100 year war, and I would have loved to see if she could lava bend. If she was able to learn that, she would be the greatest earth bender ever in history
She's already the greatest in history

"OH, I'LL SHOW YOU LIGHTNING!"
