- In her new memoir, Goucher says she was the woman behind the sexual assault allegations against famed coach Alberto Salazar that led to a lifetime ban at the Olympic and national level in 2021.

100%, as a massage therapist I ask for consent to touch and always remind clients to speak up if they feel uncomfortable.
If you've ever been sexually assaulted, especially by someone that you know AND who has power over you, then you can appreciate how difficult if not impossible it is to say anything in the moment OR tell anyone (just ask the hundreds of gymnasts abused by US Olympic team doctor Larry Nassar.) And if you haven't, then you shouldn't put your ignorant opinion out there. It's insulting. Way to go, Kara, for having the courage to speak up.
I love her for defending what's right and calling out what's wrong, even in the face of gigantic amounts of abuse

I just finished Kara's book. What a powerful statement about a legendary runner and coach. Also, about how a major corporation, run almost exclusively by men, ignored her. I used to buy Nike products. No more. The people here who have no idea what happened but bashed Kara for her statements and book are so ignorant. Also go research Mary Cain's issues with Salazar. It was right to ban him forever.
You heard the lady. This is about warning other women and women only about r ape. This is very fair.

I like how he attempted to defend his "good" name by labeling himself as a "deeply devout Catholic"...
because we all know how that whole "Catholic priest sexual assault" thing turned out.

Wow that quote from Alberto was somethingggg…” against my values as a devout catholic.”….a religion where priests in Boston repeatedly molested people as shown in the movie “spotlight.”….maybe not the BEST thing to say to defend yourself….no hate, I went to Catholic school 8 years….but just being a dad catholic etc means nothing, abusers are everywhere, sadly. Kara wrote an amazing and impactful book!!

This has happened to me a few times. Men should never massage women alone except at a massage place. Women, it will happen if you put yourself in this situation.

I still do not understand why men coach WOMEN'S volleyball...or even WOMEN'S gymnastics.. I would never be comfortable with a male coach or male assistant coach.
I'd rather be safe than sorry when it comes to my daughter....

This "report" did not mention any due process. Did Alberto have a chance to defend himself since he categorically denied it. I don't have all the facts. I hope this wasn't her word against his and they just automatically believed her. How do you prove these things?
The report mentions the allegations came up in 2019. He wasn't banned for life (as a result of the sexual misconduct) until 2021.
Read her book. All evidence is in there
"The evidence" that was brought forward are just allegations. There's no way those allegations can be substantiated. Notice how even ABC has mentioned "allegations" several times, and not evidence.
There is something that I don't understand
Why did Ms Goucher get a second massage after the reit I and the aeroplane incidents?
If a girl had 2 bad experiences
She would never agree to a second massage from the same man

She is just out here to sell a book just like everyone else nowadays who wrote a book.

That what I say. This women now days are hungry for attention so bad.
I am not a fan of the "me too" movement because I think false allegations were made by women who just wanted attention or to be part of something. NOW, there were women who were abused and they are thrown in the same pot as the liars. It's crazy and makes the truthful ones crazy. I was a very good runner (back in the day) and I can see how Goucher's response seems a little weird. She probably recognized what was going on was wrong, but did not fully realize what was happening. She had such great respect for Salazar (and I was in that era competing when he was-he was a big deal), that her mind just did not want to "go there." It took two times for her to "solve" the problem by saying she just wouldn't travel with him alone. She still did not want to confront or complain. It often takes years for women to realize what happened to them was assault because of many complex factors.
