Personally like the sound slightly better in the D60 by just a hair. but overall by price, layout, cost for what you get, it would have to be the 67 lite that takes the dub :)
I actually prefer having my stabs come in completely stock; this allows me to holee mod without having to clean off any of the excess lube. A lot of people also don't clip stabs to my liking (they leave a little chunk of plastic on the bottom instead of clipping the legs completely).
Just wanna say great video. And want to say thank you for the amount of patience you have to swap out all the switches just for us to have a better understanding of how it sounds!

@@karagaaa please don't try to start an argument. people are allowed to buy whatever keycaps they want. there are diff pros and cons to both getting genuine keycaps and clones
The 67 lite and the D60 both seem really good. It honestly just comes down to what you prefer. 67 lite for a more muted sound and standard layout. D60 for a more soft and poppy sound, unique layout and aesthetics.
TBH the only thing that turns me off from the D60 Lite is that gloss finish, otherwise it looks and sounds like a solid board... assuming that's your sort of thing. Layout-wise I definitely prefer the 67 Lite tho, needs muh keys.
I hope they release the silicone mute pad as a separate option so I can replace the foam in my aluminium D60. If this is going to be in stock then it's a big win for KBDFans. The aluminium D60 is a really great keyboard (maybe a bit overpriced but still very very good).
Thank you for the inspo. I'm so intimadating for white keyboards/keycaps. With this video, I'm so convinced and have more confidence to combine some of white keys with my black board. Nice color scheme and clean looking also.
0:53 that's because those edges are most likely not mashined lol. It's looks like it's injection molded, that's how you can get these really smooth and shiny surfaces as well. I could be totally wrong but that's what the structure of the parts looks like to me
I like the holee mod for hotswap boards, because at least if the bandaid’s adhesive starts to wear off, you can easily fix it. I don’t know why but my band aids keep peeling up and then getting stuck in between the stabs, I had to take apart my board several times before it finally stayed in place. It didn’t seem to matter what brand either and I washed the stabs to make sure there wasn’t any lube causing it to come off. If you have a soldered build though, it would be extremely annoying if this were to happen. I still love the holee mod though, it’s super easy and I always have a difficult time lubing the wire perfectly, no matter what type of lube or grease it is.
maybe during install your finger oils rubbed onto the sticky pt of the bandaids? i try to avoid touching the sticky bits of the bandaid as much as i can.. but only done the holee mod once and its holding well :)
Yeah I use tweezers to apply the bandaid to the housing too, not sure why they weren’t sticking but eventually I got it to stay. I currently have a soldered build where the stabs after awhile are starting to rattle, and it sucks I don’t want to desolder the whole thing just to fix it 😩
I want to love the DZ60 hot swap so much but I've had only mind melting frustration with flashing the ones I've built. Every time I deal with them, they register as different boards than the version labeled on the PCB and don't flash successfully, with some of the default firmware key assignments not working, despite the board testing being successful. Regardless, great build, beautiful keyboard. I'm glad it works for you :)
Once you get used to hhkb layout -- split backspace, control in caps lock position, fn + [;/' as arrows, and kl,. as navigation keys, it's really hard to go back to anything else (That may be a bad thing if you have a lot of ansi layout boards!!!) Key placement is superior, and it's so easy to access arrows and nav keys.
I looked over at my phone the very moment I got this notification, so thats why I am now here very early Ok im actually going to go out of my way to purchase the Boba 4U's. Unless there is gonna be another run of the KBD67 I don't think it really matters if we prefer the 67 over this. This is what I dislike about these "entry level boards" that are advertised as entries into the hobby yet if you don't happen to be around during the GB period you are out of luck
The D60 lite is the better looking board IMO. 60% boards do generally look better but the added functionality for the sake of an additional 1u on width is worth the aesthetic sacrifice.
6:22 I absolutely love Glorious Pandas as well!! They were my first tactile switch, and after some lubing, they sound and feel amazing! Definitely an awesome choice (kinda underrated as well).
@Gatsuu ye, I hate the sizing, their a pretty decent option if you have a 60% or 65% but anything more and you have to buy another pack, significantly increasing the price of the switches per dollar. (A pack of glorious panda's is 35 switches, a very awkward number.)
@@calussy8040 Other companies sell switches in packs of 36 (not 35). I think it is a bit awkward, but only if you are buying more than 72 switches. Yeah just depends on keyboard. On most cheap ones they don’t have hotswap and even on gaming keyboards such as Razer and Corsair they also don’t have it. I'm curious as to what your thoughts are on reviewing prototype keyboards. I've been a long time happy customer of kbdfans and I trust them to not provide prototypes that are "better" than the final production model, but I'm often hesitant to see how the product that customers can purchase looks. Changing manufacturer or supplier on a part or two can make a huge difference to the end product, and vendors will always be incentivized to get the best version of a board out to reviewers since those reviews are doing basically all of the advertising for the product, especially one as subjective as keyboards can be.
Can I have your honest opinion on the kbdfans 65 and the Finalkey 65 r2? I’m relatively new to the hobby.
