Cool bunker! That ramp in the heating room may have been a coal chute for getting coal to the furnace. This may also explain the soot on the walls. Coal chutes were pretty common back then (at least in the US). I love how the ladder down into there is in such good condition - including the safety bands.
Really glad that EE is better!
Could be that for sure. A great place to explore and loved to share that with you :)
Yes that is the coal chute
I thought exactly the same. I live in an apartment building built in 1952 and in the basement there's an old coal storage room (now just storage, I'm actually renting it to use as a workshop and storing stuff) and there's a similar, though much shorter, chute leading to the boiler room.
The ramp is a coal shute, for passing down bags of coal, must have had a coal boiler.
Good video, very interesting.
Thanks for the info and Happy Easter from us :)
That room was still covered with coal dust
As you said, that was one massive bunker, and in pretty good condition too. Thank you for the guided tour and explaining all the rooms. So happy EE is feeling better now. Stay safe and well my friends, and have a good easter break. Barry
Yes a very interesting bunker that is and loved it. Happy Easter from us and be safe out there :)
It’s amazing how much thought went into designing these bunkers. I wish I could buy one to restore and live in. That was a coal chute leading down to the furnace room. The other room with the platform may have been a generator room. Am sure these hospital bunkers had to be self sufficient. Great to see this and still in nice condition.
They are great to study and just dig into. Thanks and Happy Easter Anthony :)
That was something new. Never seen a bunker with a basement. Thanks for bringing me along.
Glad you enjoyed it Larry and Happy Easter :)
Spectacular is a good word for this hospital bunker , a good addition to the tour. Good job guys.
Great place and we loved to share that with you :)
I'm glad that eagle eyes is feeling a lot better. Thank you for sharing this video. I myself was in the United States Navy as a corpsman/ medic. I want to thank you for your service.
Thanks for being here and for your service. Happy Easter my friend :)
Thank you for sharing the hospital bunker with us. It was in Is excellent condition.
Thanks for that :)
Appreciated my friend :)
Thank you for showing us the WW2 German hospital bunker floor plan. It was a massive bunker. Solidly built with 2 metre thick walls. Unfortunately, too much 😪 activity most likely went on inside that bunker. It looks like they made it as comfortable as possible for hospital staff and the injured soldiers. Thanks for taking us there. EE, keep an eye on crazy cow as I don't think he can be trusted. Maybe a spy. ❤
Loved it , just loved it Laura. More to come soon and keep smiling :)
I don't recall you ever taking us through a hospital bunker before and this tour was very interesting. Lots of people bunking in this area so I can understand why ventilation was very important for all involved. I was surprised to see it had a basement! The sloped entry from above was a coal chute, hence the gray walls. I remember getting deliveries of the stuff when I was very young until we began to use oil for heating. Very interesting tour!!
Yes it is a very exciting area and we shall share some other videos from this place and we know you will love them. Among them some pretty amazing bunkers that we actually have to climb into. Thanks Donald :)
Nice bunker to help the injured soldiers.
Loved the place and thanks so much :)
Wow, beast of a bunker. Looks like they tried to use a tank shell to remove that internal door!! :D
Bunker basement was nice to see, and things in really good condition.
Hope BBG is doing ok, missing the uploads. Anyway, really looking forward to the secret mission guys!
Great explore. BBG has been away doing a climbing instructor course and graduated with that. Thanks
@@WW2HistoryHunter oh that's awesome, you got a great couple of kids 💪 :D
The ramp in the lower level heating room was probably a coal chute. Used for unloading coal from the outside to the heating room. The soot is from the coal that was burned.
i see and thanks for being here with us :)
The best thing is that there was almost no Graffiti in the bunker !
Great video and as always interesting to follow and see !
Thanks 👍
This was such a good episode.
Looking forward to seeing more history and adventures .❤️👍✌️😎
What a great explore for EE to join you after his recent illness.Brilliant tour of a hospital bunker, with each room from dressing station, bunk rooms and operating theatre explained.👍
Appreciated and greetings from us :)
The complexity is still an engineering marvel. Thanks HH!
We loved to see that and thanks so much my friend :)
welcome back Eagle Eyes. This bunker is a great find
We appreciate that and greetings from us.
What a wonderful tour of a hospital bunker. That was a coal chute. Thank you both for sharing and as always " Good Hunting "
i think you are right and thanks for being here with us :)
Getting better EE. Happy to hear that. Enjoyed this video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wouldn't even know it's there , blends in well with the terrain , they were so good at camouflaging ! Well built and thought of everything ! So interesting with the under ground and a treat like you said. Thank you and the contributors so much for this. Stay safe !
Thanks 👍
Another awesome episode @WW2HISTORYHUNTER !
Thank you my friend and keep exploring. Have a great Easter and be safe :)
Hello EE and yes I really enjoyed this tour. Glad you're feeling better, I knew you would bounce back. Can't wait to see the rest of this site. Have a Happy Easter everyone.
Yes EE has fully healed himself and so glad for that Thanks so much Allen and Happy Easter from us :)
Another great video HH. Timestamp 2:33, is that a power or telecom junction? In the heating room, the angled chute may be a coal chute. Since it goes to the outer edge of the bunker. This bunker is in great condition in comparison to the coastal units. As always great work my friend. EE is great to hear you up and about and feeling good. Stay safe and well my friends.
i think it might be yes. Shute could very well be for coal , did not think about that. Thanks and more to come and Happy Easter from us.
Amazing hospital tour. Everything was orderly as it should be with small personal rooms for the staff. Love the different colored pipes for air and still hatches for defense. Thanks for your thorough explanations. Happy to know EE has recovered from his ordeal!
Great little explore and will share more from here later. Thanks Stephanie and have a Great Easter :)
Most unusual placement of the toilets near the entrances. But looking at the layout, it seems to be the most practical place to put them, right outside the patients rooms. I imagine the hospital bunker was designed to be almost self sustaining, with the sub-floor machinery suppling power, hot water, and ventilation, throughout the whole bunker. Heating was obviously via a coal fired furnace, hence the coal shute, and the stained walls, but that in itself would need really good ventilation. Don't know if I want to be the poor soldier tasked with keeping that going though. Hot, hard and dirty work, down in the "dungeon". Thanks for sharing this amazing bunker. It's always interesting to see the support bunkers and buildings for these locations. Really gives you a good sense of how well these places were organised, and laid out. Cheers to you both! Glad EE is feeling much better! Stay well both of you!
yes some pretty special details in there and i loved to see that. EE is doing so well now and glad for that. Thanks so much and Happy Easter from us :)
Another spectacular bunker explore! That place was absolutely huge! It must be quite an experience to be there and know that people died there, that soldiers came there severely injured, clinging to life. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to see this hospital bunker!❤👍
Loved the place and thanks for being here with us :)
Really intresting video,,thank you so much for sharing, wishing you well..👍👍👍
Thank you too
Great video. It would be so cool to go through that. It's in great shape inside, and hopefully stays that way.
We hope too and thanks so much for being here with us :)
Power / heating room chute appears to be a coal chute for the boiler. Black soot would probably be coal dust.
i see and thanks for tip my friend :)
Great stuff you guys 👍🏻👍🏻
Awesome to hear EE is getting better, good for you young man 👍🏻
See you both soon on more adventures 😀
🇬🇧🤝🏻🇳🇴
Thanks 👍
This is a most interesting bunker, HH! Very spartan in its appointments, but definitely very secure. I'm glad you're better, EE!❤
Glad you enjoyed it and EE says hello here. Thanks Cynthia :)
Thanks for showing us this medical bunker very cool to see!
Very kind my friend and we thank you for that :) Happy Easter and be safe out there :)
Wow impressive lots to see inside too. Thanks for sharing !
Appreciated Stephen and Happy Easter from us :)
@@WW2HistoryHunter Happy Easter to you too !
Very well laid out German hospital bunker. Extremely well ventilated. Everything was thought of it seems. I am thinking once again advanced for that era. I can't help but think of the suffering and fear that those bunker walls were privy to. Very smart building a sub floor. Very impressive. Thank you . Stay healthy, EE. xo 💕
yes a very well built bunker it seems. Great explore and thanks for being here Girl :)
At 12:03 mark you asked about the chute in the heater room. I believe that was used as a COAL CHUTE. The exterior access door would be a security issue since this chute is much larger than the one we had on our basement in South Bend, Indiana. Another great video men!
Most likely so and thanks for letting me know. Greetings from us.
Great explore again , very interesting .
Thank you for that :)
You always do find some of the most interesting sites to take us to!
This is a great place and love the bunker. More from here soon and you will enjoy that. Thanks so much and have a Happy Easter my friend :)
Excellent guys
Appreciated :)
Very good explore glad to see eagle eyes back you guys have a great day
Thanks so much form us :)
Love your videos! So interesting.
Thank you :)
Thank you so much for sharing this video cool hospital bunker so intact actually I had never seen a germany ww2 hospital video .
Appreciated and greetings from us.
Pretty good shape for a WW2 bunker.
Great explore and thanks :)
I was always curious about what a German WWII medical bunker looked like. That was supper special to see that. Keep up the good work.
Very glad to read that and thanks for being here :)
That bunker was very interesting to me. As a retired US Air Force medic that would have been my work area if I was born in that era and was part of the German military. The way they angled the corners of the doorways was a very ingenious way to accommodate the movement of patients on a stretcher or gurney. I appreciate this video and want to say thank you for sharing! Great find and a great job!
yes some interesting features there indeed. Thanks and Happy Easter :)
My mother was a M*A*S*H nurse who served in Ledo, India before the U.S. entered WWII and this is the first video I've seen of German hospitals or aid stations.
i see and thanks for sharing and for watching.
Where is Ledo in India?
I’ll bet she had some great stories
Interesting hospital bunker !!!
I agree and thanks :)
Dr. Kildare, and Casey interned there…..
Another great video 😁
Thanks again!
Great video. You do an awesome job and are so knowledgeable it's good to see, and here the stories anywayyou too be safe and stay well till next time take care .
Great explore! A big welcome back to Eagle Eyes!!! Glad your feeling better & also your Dad! As has already been mentioned in previous comments, that is indeed a coal chute. As always, be safe & enjoy your holiday. P.S. A pleasure to see a graffiti free bunker.
Thank you so much and greetings from us :)
Great new adventure for the WW2 history hunter team.
Appreciated my friend :)
Great location guys. Loved it. 👍. Haven't seen any posts from your daughter in a while. Hope she's okay.
All good and thanks for watching.
What an interesting bunker, very spartan but interesting nonetheless. I love how you describe each of the rooms and how the bunks were lined up. It's surprising that the metal ladder going down was in such immaculate condition. That could have been a coal chute for the furnace. It's the only thing I can think of. Very much a grand little adventure this was. I'm so glad you're doing so much better EE. We really missed you. Take care and stay safe. 💖💯
We loved to see that Julie and thank you so much for your great support. Happy Easter :)
I work in a somewhat similar way.I try to preserve and record the history here in my local area. Keep up the good work, ther ARE MANY people who love what you do.
Thanks for watching.
Thanks!
It's possible that was a coal chute and storage room as they were covered in black, maybe coal dust. I very much enjoy my special peices of history and the interest I see on my friends faces when I show and tell them. Thank you a thousand times.
Very kind of you my friend and will come in very handy out there. Greatly appreciated. Thanks and more to come :)
Wow! This video is awesome!
Glad you think so!
@@WW2HistoryHunter Absolutly! 🔦🏚🙂
A very interesting place to see, I presume the corners to the openings that were opened up, were also to make it easier to move stretchers around. Looks to be in great condition and only a little graffiti. Good to hear EE is getting better, safe safe out there HH team!
yes wider for the stretchers it is. Great explore and thanks my friend for being here and Happy Easter from us.
Thanks.
Appreciated my friend )
Looks like a coal shute to me.
Yep, beat me to it.
Could very well be. Thanks.
Very KOOL Video Guys
Thanks for that :)
What an interesting bunker. That chute is probably used for coal. See a few of those in older homes. Thanks for another adventure.👍
i see and we loved to see that. Thanks and more to come :)
Really cool
Thanks.
Very interesting video.
I'm glad your Son Eagle Eyes is feeling much better.
Thank you!
It was a coal Shute. You said the room was very sooty. When done and thank you and Eagle eyes for these posts. Steve may
Thanks so much and greetings from us.
Really wish you'd either left a link, or left the floor plan up longer; it would have helped me navigate.
you can stop the video and look at it more if you like. Thanks for watching.
Good afternoon to you..
Thanks for sharing your work with us..
Very interesting.
My dad's father went to the Russian eastern front..
He was actually a German officer in the army in the 2nd World War..
He was a officer who wanted to get rid of Hitler in that time..
He was killed though in Russia..
My dad... His mother... and other family members came from Germany as refugees..
They used the railway and broke through the Russian blocks on the track to the American.. and British side..
At that time he was about 9 years old.
He experienced quite afew bombming raids from the Russians and American and other forces..
Yeah. Those were quite difficult and fearful times..
I really hope that this generation will not have to experience this kind of dustruction and fear..
Keep well and keep safe my brother..
👍👍👍
Thanks for sharing and for being here with us :)
👍as a ex reservist, its very interesting ,the bunker building still, there well done 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Very nice to see another "hospital" bunker. Kinda weird they would have a "shutter" inside the operating room. Wonder if they used it that much to treat their wounded??? That chute, I would think, considering the way it looked, was prob for coal. The soot that lined it and the room makes me think it could have been. I'm surprised they didn't have more rooms in the bottom, considering how big the bunker was on top...oh well, it was pretty nice to see it anyways. Thanks for taking us to it. Stay well,safe..................
This bunker was almost never used but was ready for action if needed. Loved it and thanks Colleen :)
All those years of training to become a doctor or a nurse to find yourself hosted in an impersonal stretchered dorm. I wonder what they did in their downtime. Thank you for a very interesting video.
Thanks for watching.
Hi HH & A,
Fortunately, EE is healthy again.
What a massive bunker and in a good condition.
After WWI, Hitler was very afraid of a gas attack, which is why the bunker had to be gas-tight.
Yes so glad EE is back at it. Great explore and thanks for your great support. Happy Easter from us.
The chute to the basement could be for coal to be delivered.
Would most likely be so yes. Thank so much :)
I get very nervous when you are alone and in confined spaces underground. Obviously you've posted the video so we know it was ok but... friend there can easily be poisonous gases down there.
Thanks for watching.
That was probably a coal chute in the heating system room.
Most likely so and thanks for being here :)
Had a Coal chute and Room in my 1918 City house.HaHa
@@WW2HistoryHunter thank you for the education and history.
As others have said you kinda answered your own question. "Heating Room" with a chute. Yep had to be coal.
Most likely so and thanks :)
Cool
Thanks :)
I'm thinking the basement shute could be for coal for the furnace.
Most likely so and thanks :)
I think that in the heating room is there they got the kol down to the owen.
Yes I liked it
Appreciated and greetings from us.
appreciation
Thank you my friend :)
Thanks for the video HH and EE, sure is an awesome place very good structure. Was it uses just for the luftwaffe or soldiers too?😎🐓🐓🐓🐓🇬🇧🇺🇦
it was for all the crews around the base there. Thanks and greetings from us :)
These things need to be protected by the country. Turned into museums.
ok and thanks for watching.
Given the size of the hospital I was expecting to see, in the basement, the hospital morgue for the fatal casualties. Maybe the 'machine room' so called for moral purposes?
It might e i really dont know. Thanks for being here :)
Having any kind of combustion appliance down there is asking for a crapload of trouble---carbon monoxide. You could ask Admiral Byrd, if he was still alive
Thanks for watching.
I don’t know what it’s like in Europe, but in the United States pipes in blue or water pipes in red is electricity. Yellow is generally gas.
ok and thanks for watching.
Halo Eagle Eye!
Hello form EE and thanks for being here :)
I don’t think they had any free time with the amount of injuries during the war
Thanks for being here :)
11:15 what's the date in the concrete on the floor? maybe:
??2
1987
i really cant tell. Thanks.
V E R Y N I C E
Appreciated :)
It’s a coal Shute you know for the heating!
i see and thanks :)
A cool site but what was the scary thing in the basement? Seemed to be just utility and engineering, nothing scary like a morgue or something like that.
Basically just being down there is scary if you ask me but i guess you have to just experience it to know. Thanks for watching.
Claustrophobic. Make me anxious just watching.
Great place to explore and thanks for being here :)
Can you imagine using luminol spray in these areas, It would bring the h@ll to life these soldiers went through, we see the history but not the pain war causes
Thanks for watching.
Don't see to many hospital bunker videos.
Great bunker and loved to see that :)
That shoot may have been for coal. To heat the bunker.
Could be yes. Thanks for watching.
Thanks
Very kind of you my friend and it is appreciated. Greetings from us and be safe out there :)
wondered where he was
Thanks for watching.
Did you notice a that graffiti from 1981 on the ceiling
Cant say i did. Thanks for watching.
hi
Coal chute?
Most likely so and thanks for watching.
Coal Shute?
Most likely so and thanks my friend :)
